Selover, Robert Jay
Robert Jay Selover, 90, formerly of 252 Huff St., died Saturday, April 29, 2000 at Good Shepherd Home, Rushford, MN.

He was born August 14, 1909 in Winona. He married Alice Jacobson Selover, who is deceased. They had two daughters.

Memorial services are planned for mid-May at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Winona. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

A complete obituary will appear on a day closer to the memorial service.

Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting with the arrangements.

Theis, Robert A.
Robert A. Theis, 78, of 414 Harriet St., died Sunday, April 30, 2000 at his home.

He was born January 10, 1922 in Lennep Rhineland, Germany to Leo P. and Anna (Bajewski) Theis. He married Dorothy J. Walch on October 21, 1950 in Winona.

He was employed by the Winona Police Department from August 1, 1948 until January 31, 1981 when he retired.

He was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Parish, Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association, and the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9 of Winona.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Coxswain, and was decorated with the World War II Victory Medal. He was stationed in the Phillipines and the Solomons.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Winona; a son, Richard (Linda) Theis of Winona; and three grandchildren, Stacy Ann, Craig Allen and Daniel Robert.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Frank and John, and a sister, Anna.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 3 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Michael J. Cronin officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery where the American Legion will provide military honors.

Pallbearers will be Ron Theis, Steve Theis, Mike Fratzke, Jeff Fratzke, Greg Fratzke and Dan Hohmann.

Latham, Leona A.
Leona A. Latham, 66, of Caledonia, MN, died Saturday, April 29, 2000 at her home.

Funeral services were Tuesday, May 2 at United Methodist Church in Caledonia with Rev. Howard Bredesen officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Caledonia.

Thesing, Liola M. "Lila"
Liola M. "Lila" Thesing, 91, Lewiston, MN, died Monday, May 1, 2000 at St. Anne Hospice, Winona.

She was born April 6, 1909 to Charles H. and Louise Frances (Breyer) McCabe in Glencoe, WI. She was raised in the Arcadia area. Lila married Anton J. Thesing on June 7, 1927 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Arcadia.

The couple farmed for a time in Nodine and then moved to a farm near Lewiston in October of 1936. Anton died July 9, 1977. Lila moved to the Lewiston Manor in 1978 where she resided for 20 years. In August of 1998 she moved to St. Anne Hospice.

Her entire life was devoted to family and friends, with a special interest in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, its St. Rita Circle, the Rosary Society, Missionary Society, WCCW, Homemakers and Green Thumb. In her later years she spent much time sewing, doing arts and crafts, socializing and corresponding with e-mail.

She is survived by five sons, Anthony (Doris) of Lewiston, James (Colette) of Waukon, IA, Eugene (Judith) of Lewiston, Charles (Janis) of Menomonie, WI, and Bernard (Susie) of Sulphur Springs, TX; one daughter, Betty Lou (Clifford) Blaha of Ettrick, WI; three daughters-in-law, Juanita Thesing of Springfield, MO, Alice Thesing of St. Paul, MN, and Jean Hendrickson of Moose Lake, MN; thirty-nine grandchildren; forty-seven great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Gerry) McCabe of Dakota, MN; two sisters, Margaret Schultz of LaCrosse, WI and Mary (Arthur) Gunderson of Watford City, ND; two sisters-in-law, Eunice McCabe of Watford City and Helen McCabe of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four sons, Gerald, Dale, Edward, and an infant son Paul, two brothers, Raymond and Charles, a sister, Rose Schoenberger, three grandchildren, Nicholas, Levi and Patrick; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 4 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Lewiston with Rev. Peter Schuster officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3 at St. Rose of Lima Church and one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday. There will be a 5 p.m. prayer service and a 7:30 p.m. rosary on Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Lila's grandsons, David, Matthew, Tom, Dean, Patrick, Luke and Ben Thesing.

Hoff Funeral Homes-Lewiston Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Eaton, June G.
June G. Eaton, 79, Houston, MN, died Sunday, April 30, 2000 at her home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 4 at First Presbyterian Church in Houston with Rev. Robert Drier officiating. Burial will be in Money Creek Cemetery.

Benike, David Edward
David Edward Benike, 55, of Enemy Swim Lake, SD, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000 at Lake Area Hospital in Webster, SD.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 29 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Summit, SD. Burial was in Lakewood Cemetery, Waubay, SD.

Steadman, Margaret C.
Margaret C. Steadman, 93, died Monday, May 1, 2000 at St. Anne Hospice.

She was born March 16, 1907 in Winona to Thomas and Catherine (Borzyskowski) Mrachek. She married John L. "Buck" Steadman on August 2, 1927 in Winona. He died February 4, 1990.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Parish in Winona.

Survivors include a daughter, Jacqueline (Donald) Brown of Winona; two sons, John (Mary) Steadman of Carol Stream, IL and David (Donna) Steadman of Apple Valley, MN; eight grandchildren: James (Kim) Brown, Scott (Pam) Brown, Pat (Cindy) Brown, Linda (Brian) Sullivan, John Steadman, Jeffery (Jenny) Steadman, Laura Steadman and Christopher Steadman; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday, May 4 at 10:45 a.m. at St. Anne Hospice in the Chapel of Our Lady with Rev. Leland Smith officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday from 9:45 a.m. until time of Mass at the hospice.

Pallbearers will be the grandchildren.

Lalli, Harriet (Sampson)
Harriet (Sampson) Lalli passed away Saturday, April 1, 2000 at Lakewood Health Center in Baudette, MN at the age of 80.

Harriet Irene Lalli, the daughter of Earl and Mabel (Erickson) Sampson, was born October 25, 1919 in Winona. She grew up in and around the Winona area.

She was united in marriage to Wilmer C. Lalli on May 3, 1947 in Winona. They moved to his farmstead in McDougall Township, Lake of the Woods County near Graceton. Harriet lived there the remainder of her life. She maintained a home, raised a family and spent many summers traveling with Wilmer to various construction sites around the United States.

Harriet belonged to the KYN Club and the Thursday Afternoon Club, both of Graceton and the Bethany Lutheran Church Ladies Aid of Williams.

She is survived by three daughters, DeAnn (Tim) Gavere of Northglenn, CO, Debra (David) Plante of Chisago City, MN, and Delynn (David) Stolts of Forest Lake, MN; a son, Gerry (Terri) of Graceton; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters.

Funeral services were Thursday, April 6 at Bethany Lutheran Church of Williams with Rev. Tom Oberg officiating. Burial was in Potamo Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jon, Daniel and Lester Lalli, Russell Hawks, David Plante and Dave Stolts.

Helgeson Funeral home of Baudette was in charge of arrangements.
