Burfeind, Arnold C. "Arne"
Arnold C. "Arne" Burfeind, 86, Lewiston, MN, died Sunday, February 27, 2000 at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona.
Arne was born March 5, 1913 to Henry and Hattie (Beilke) Burfeind in Utica Township, Winona County. He attended Immanuel Parochial School at Silo and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1931. He also graduated from Winona Business College. On October 16, 1943 he married Ruth Dorn at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lewiston.
Arne worked for the Winona County Superintendent of Schools, he was Chief Clerk of the Agricultural Adjustment Association and also worked for REA at Rushford. For 28 years he worked at Security State Bank of Lewiston of which he was vice-president for many years. Arne was also the bookkeeper for Fremont Creamery for many years.
He was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church and its Mens Club. He served various church offices, was a member of Lewiston Senior Citizens, a Cancer Support Group and also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Senior Drivers Program. Arne enjoyed gardening, bowling and bookkeeping.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Sandra (David) Murray of Blue Earth, MN; three grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel and Daniel all of Blue Earth; a brother, Martin Burfeind of Winona; a sister, Edna Burfeind of Winona; and niece, Arline (James) Volkmann of Winona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Victor; two sisters, Helen Stellwagen and Mildred Burfeind, and a nephew, Robert Stellwagen.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. David A. Fischer and the Rev. Michael A. Lindemann co-officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.

Norton, Robert D.
Robert D. Norton, 77, Evansville, died Wednesday, February 16, 2000 at his home of heart failure.
He retired in 1994 from the law firm of Norton, Schwentker and Norton after 46 years in private practice, beginning in 1948 with Waller McGinnis and Merrill and continuing with Waller and Norton and Norton and Schwentker from 1952 to 1982.
He was past president and former director of the Evansville Bar Association and had served on the Indiana Board of Law Examiners.
He graduated from Winona Senior High in 1940. He was a graduate of Wabash College and Indiana University School of Law.
He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran, serving in the 5th Division and retiring with the rank of captain. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries suffered in the Battle of Iwo Jima.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel R. of Indianapolis and Thomas P. of Evansville; a sister, Georgine Anderson of Onalaska, WI; and two grandsons, Robert T. and Andrew M. Norton.
His wife of 50 years, Faye (Grochowski) died in 1995.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Evansville Bar Association Foundation.
Hutson, Gerald G.
Gerald G. Hutson, 71, formerly of 208 East Sanborn St., died Sunday, February 27, 2000 at the Watkins Home in Winona.
He was born April 5, 1928 in Niota, IL, to George and Mildred (Lambright) Hutson. He married Dolores Ann Ericsson on June 5, 1955 in Fort Madison, IA.
He was employed at Winona Industries and later at Northern States Power Company until retiring. He was president of the Genealogy Club in Winona.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores of Winona; a daughter, Lisa (Patrick) Kramer, Goodview, MN; and a grandson, Nash.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twin grandsons.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Monahan, Alice A. "Pat"
Alice A. "Pat" Monahan, 61, 1805 West Mark St., died Sunday, February 27, 2000 at Community Memorial Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.She died surrounded by her loving family.
Alice was born April 8, 1938, in Dodge, WI, the daughter of Joseph and Stella (Tuschner) Jereczek. She was married twice.
Alice is survived by her two sons, James P. Morey of Rogers, MN, and Ralph P. (Sophay) Monahan of Winona; three grandchildren, Joshua and Jessica Morey and Matthew Monahan; one brother, Butch Jereczek of Palm Springs, CA; and two sisters, Lois Roten, Columbus, OH and Joan Brand, Seal Beach, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Private family services were held at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Michael J. Cronin officiating.Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Heim, Royal Raymond
Royal Raymond Heim, 62, of 1764 West Broadway, died Sunday, February 27, 2000 at St. Francis Medical Center, LaCrosse, WI.
Royal was born June 11, 1937 in LaCrosse County, WI, the son of Irene Augusta (Johnson) and Ernest Erick Heim. He graduated from Lanesboro High School. He married Donna Meyer on November 14, 1959 in Lanesboro, MN.
He served in the U.S. Navy for two years and also for four years in the Reserves.
Royal was a truck driver for Bay State Milling for more than 20 years and was later a driver for RTL Trucking, where he retired from in 1990.
Royal was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sons, Matthew (Vickie Klinger) Heim of Centerville, WI, and Douglas (Michelle) Heim of Hutchinson, MN; three daughters, Beth (Rick) Bambenek of Goodview, MN, Jackie (Dave) Czaplewski of Goodview, and JaNell (Tom) Scott of Winona; seven grandchildren, Robert and Tina Bambenek, Brett and Brandon Czaplewski, Timothy Scott, and Brady and Tanner Heim; three sisters, Darlene (Raymond) Kroner of LaCrosse, WI, Shirley Larson of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Joyce (Vincent) Gossman of Eagan, MN; and one step-sister, Ada (James) Austin of Harmony, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Curtis and Ronald, one step-sister, Alvera Olson, and step-father Connie Turnmire.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 2 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. William Flesch officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and at the church after 1 p.m. Thursday.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of Royal's grandchildren.
A memorial is being arranged.

Wegman, Herbert
Herbert S. Wegman, 79, Sioux Falls, SD, died of an apparent heart attack on Wednesday, February 23, 2000 at his home.
He was born July 11, 1920 in Dover, MN. He grew up and attended school in the Dover-St. Charles, MN area. He worked at the Kahler Hospital in Rochester, MN and entered the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
He married Iva Voss on June 25, 1946 in Lewiston, MN. The couple moved to Sioux Falls in 1948, where he worked at Sanders Plumbing. In 1954, he began working as a concrete finisher for the Henry Carlson Company. He retired in 1984.
He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral.
Survivors include his wife, Iva; two daughters, Carol Upson of Lakewood, CO, and Colleen Knight of Omaha; two sons, Duane of Sioux Falls and Steven of Pierre; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three sisters, Geraldine Laska and Jeannette Matejka, both of Winona and Virginia Hegland, Rochester, MN.
Services were held February 26 at St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls. Burial was in St. Michael Cemetery, Sioux Falls.
