Tindal, Mary Lee
Mary Lee Tindal, 44, died Saturday, January 22, 2000 from ovarian cancer. She finally has found peace after her nearly 6-year struggle.
For the past 18 years, she has lived at 819 10th Avenue in Ashland, WI.
She was born August 17, 1955 in Winona, the daughter of Severt and Yvonne Tindal. For 13 years, until her diagnosis with cancer, she had worked at the Ashland Memorial Medical Center as a Registered Nurse. She graduated from Metropolitan Community College and the University of Minnesota. Mary had her Orthopedic and Medical Surgical Certification and with the Lion's Club Eye Enucleation, was a valuable asset to the medical center. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Relay for Life, Wisconsin Nursing Association, and the local 4-H club.
Mary will live beyond her short life through others, family and friends. Her quiet strength will serve as a reminder that life needs to be held dearly and that everyone is to be accepted. She was a mother not only to her daughter but also to all her daughter's friends, who often gathered in their home. She will be remembered for her quiet way of life, with simple pleasures like camping, fishing, and canoeing, enjoyed in the solitude of the northern woods. Her pets will miss her dearly -- frogs, birds, rabbits, cats, and most of all Marta, her dog. Such acceptance and support of all God's creatures is rare and will keep Mary in our hearts as we learn to struggle with our own limitations and life's demands and be as accepting as she has been of us.
She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Lynn of Ashland, WI; her mother, Yvonne Tindal of Winona; a sister, Janet and Patrick Duffy and their children Bryan and Sarah, Fountain City, WI; a brother, Jerry and Linda Tindal and their children Sevrina and Karsten of Eugene, OR; as well as the children Crosby and Maret of a deceased brother, Thomas Tindal.
Mary's father, Severt Tindal of Winona, and a niece, Ann Marie, who was a daughter of Janet and Pat Duffy, have died.
Funeral services were Tuesday, January 25 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Father Vernon officiating. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 26 at 3:30 p.m., at Central Lutheran Church in Winona. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.
Casketbearers are Mark Zinneker, Harry Budreau, Mike Jack, Mike Eder, Bill Knoblauch and Craig Adamczak.
