Pelowski, Betty L.
Betty L. Pelowski, 76, of 316 Carimona St., died Thursday, March 7, 2002, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born June 5, 1925 in Chicago, Ill., to William and Gladys (Kriesel) Kilmer. She married Daniel W. Pelowski on February 23, 1946 in St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alma, Wis.
She worked at Sears for over 25 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished her time with her loving husband and all of her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dan W. Pelowski of Winona; a son, Dan (Jean) Pelowski of Chaska, Minn.; a daughter, Becky (Roger) Peplinski of Winona; six grandchildren, Kristin (Mike) Lind of Davie, Fla., Mike (Jenny) Peplinski of St. Cloud, Minn., Scott (Susie) Peplinski of Winona, Jeff Peplinski of Winona, Jason (Serena) Pelowski of Edina, Minn., and Nathan (fiancee, Nicole) Pelowski of Chanhassen, Minn.; and seven great-grandchildren, Brittany Peplinski, Devyn Tatum, Nicole Lind, Austin Peplinski, Dayton Lind, Macy Peplinski and Jordan Peplinski.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday, March 11, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating. Burial will be in the Alma Cemetery in the spring.
Friends may call Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. Friends may also call on Monday at St. Stanislaus Church from 9 a.m. until time of Mass.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Mike, Scott and Jeff Peplinski, Jason and Nathan Pelowski.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kristin Lind.
She was dearly loved and will be missed by all.

Thiele, Alfred O.
Alfred O. Thiele, 85, formerly of 150 Pleasant Hill Drive, Winona, died Friday, March 8, 2002 at Sauer Memorial Home.
Alfred was born March 7, 1917, in Warren Township, Winona County, to Otto and Emma Guergen Thiele. He married Marie Kriescher. They were later divorced.
He graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1936. He served in the U.S. Army in Okinawa, Japan during World War II.
He worked for 39 years at J.R. Watkins and for five years with the Winona Parks Department.
He is a member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Leon J. Wetzel American Legion Post #9.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth and James; a daughter, Deborah Thiele; three sisters, Martha Thiele, Emma Nelson and Lorraine Barness, all of Winona; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at Martin-Myhre Funeral Chapel, with Rev. James Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, with military rites provided by the Leon J. Wetzel American Legion Post #9.
Visitation will be held on Monday morning from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Fjeld, Alma K.
Alma K. Fjeld, age 101, of Winona, died on Monday, March 4, 2002 at Lake Winona Manor, Winona, MN.
Alma was born on January 12, 1901 in rural Rushford, MN.; she was the oldest of eight children born to John and Inger Woxland. As a child she attended Anderson School.
Her employment involved maid work in several farm homes, the hotel in Peterson, and also worked there as a telephone operator.
She was united in marriage on February 2, 1923 to John Fjeld, also of Peterson and formerly a native of Norway. They became the parents of three daughters. Mr. Fjeld passed away on August 17, 1945.
In August of 1954 she and her youngest daughter moved to Winona where she lived the remainder of her life.
Mrs. Fjeld was always willing and ready to help anyone with whom she came in contact with and will always leave a void in the lives of all who loved her so dearly.
She is survived by her daughters, Ila Jensen of Mesa, Az., Ruby (Jerome) Kwosek of LaCrosse, WI. and Shirley (Daniel) Cordes of Goodview, MN.; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; seven siblings; her son in law, Thomas C. Jensen of Mesa, AZ and a grandson, Brian Cordes.
Funeral services were at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona on Saturday, March 9, 2002 at 1:00 PM., with the Rev. Michelle Rem officiating. She was laid to rest beside her husband at the West Grace Cemetery, rural Peterson, MN.
"Mother, we will always remember you as a very unselfish, non-complaining mother who enjoyed a long productive life".
You will be missed by all who loved you so dearly.

Johnson, Marjorie G.
Marjorie G. Johnson, age 81, of Bluff Siding, WI, died on Thursday, March 7, 2002.
Marjorie was born on April 20, 1920 in Winona, MN, to Harold I. and Stella A. (Johnson) Greene. In 1938, she graduated from Winona Senior High. On August 23, 1947, she married Arthur J. Johnson. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1985. Marjorie was a life long resident of the Winona area.
She was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Winona where she was active in the Finance Committee, Altar Guild and with the Quilters. She also was a volunteer in the gift shop of the Winona Senior Center.
Marjorie is survived by two children: Gregg Johnson of Bluff Siding, WI and Kristi (James) Bell of Winona; three granddaughters: Teresa (Paul) Koster, Deborah (Phillip) Sonnenberg and Lisa Bell; two sisters Betty Mahon of Hot Springs, AR and Ruth (Ed) Hinrichs of Fairmont, MN and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 11, 2002 at 1:30 PM at St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Winona, with Reverend Timothy Dost, officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 10, from 5 to 7 PM at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona and at the church Monday one hour prior to the service.
Memorials may be directed to St. Martin's Lutheran Church or School, Winona, MN

Peterson, William R.
William R. "Bill" Peterson, 86, of Houston, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. He was born on March 5, 1916, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota to Paul and Martha (Humble) Peterson. Bill was raised on the family farm near Thief River Falls and graduated from Thief River Falls High School. As a young man, Bill moved to Winona to work. It was then that he met Candace Torgerson. He and Candace were married on November 25, 1940. He farmed for many years in the Houston area. Following his retirement in 1978, Bill took up the Hobby of clock making. Bill was a volunteer at the A.B.L.E. Group Home in Houston as well as being a volunteer for driving those who needed a ride to their doctor appointments. Bill was a very active member of the Looney Valley Lutheran Church in rural Houston, where he especially enjoyed being active in singing for the choir and quartet. Bill also worked for many years with the Gideons organization. He is survived by two sons: Ron (Deanna) Peterson and Dan (Debbie) Peterson both of Houston; two daughters: Marlene (Rich) Sather of Houston and Carol (Dave) Hilken of Winona, Minn.; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, two grandchildren, Ricky and Megan, seven brothers and two sisters. The funeral service was at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2002, at the Looney Valley Lutheran Church in rural Houston with the Rev. Kris Fahey officiating. Burial was at the Silver Creek Cemetery in rural Houston. Funeral arrangements were by Hoff Funeral Homes Houston Chapel.
Hudson, Genevieve Lynn
Genevieve Lynn Hudson, 80, died Monday, March 4, 2002 at Community Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were Thursday, March 7, at the Hiwasse Nazarene Church in Hiwasse, Ark. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hiwasse.
Raseman, Ruth Marie
Ruth Marie Raseman, 83, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at Lake Winona Manor, Winona.
She was born March 7, 1918 in LaCrosse, Wis., to Herman J. and Barbara (Jansky) Magin. She married Willard A. Raseman on October 25, 1943. He died May 2, 1977.
Ruth was a graduate of Aquinas High School, LaCrosse, Wis. and was employed at The Company Store in LaCrosse.
She is survived by children: Kathleen (Richard) Knutson of Blair, Wis., Scott Raseman of Kenosha, Wis., and Nancy Raseman of Elkhart, Ind.; grandchildren, Laura Theresa Raseman, Heather Kelley, Colleen Hendrick and Kelly Hendrick; great-granddaughter, Siobhan Kelley; a brother, John (Margaret) Magin; as well as many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Richard and Robert Magin.
Private family services will be held in the spring. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, LaCrosse

Meisch, Mary Anna
Mary Anna Meisch, 60, of Altura, Minn., died Monday, March 4, 2002 at Winona Community Memorial Hospital.
Mary was born January 15, 1942 in Nelson, Wis., to Gilbert and Mildred (Wakefield) Lien. She and Otto Meisch were married July 8, 1972. The couple made their home in Altura.
Following their marriage, Mary worked for a short time in daycare. She then worked for Hubbard Foods of Altura and part time for WWORC.
She was a member of Jehovah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Altura.
She loved to listen, play and sing country western and spiritual music.
Survivors include her husband, Otto; nine brothers and sisters, Robert Lien of Kellogg, Minn., Joan Ressie of Winona, Barnie Lien of Homestead, Fla., Ruth Roberts and David Lien, both of Winona, Gerald Lien of Plainview, Minn., Patricia Loath of St. Charles, Minn., Linda Turner of Red Wing, Minn., and Evelyn Lien.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 9 at Jehovah Ev. Lutheran Church in Altura with Revs. David A. Fischer and Michael Lindemann officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Memorials are preferred.
