Ives, G. Patrick "Pat"
G. Patrick "Pat" Ives, 59, of Kenner, LA, died Monday, January 15, 2001, following a lengthy illness.
Pat was born December 4, 1941 in Winona, to Raymond J. and Rita (Brown) Ives.
He is survived by his wife; one son; three daughters; ten grandchildren; one brother, James R. (Mary Jean) Ives of Winona; and three sisters, Judy Rompa of Winona, Rita (Len)Stoll of Torrance, Cal., and Mary (Mike) Fuller of Seattle, Wash.
Graveside services were held in Kenner on Tuesday, January 16.
Helleland, Wallace E. "Wally"
Wallace "Wally" E. Helleland, 74, of Rushford died, Monday, January 15, 2001, at the Arrowhead Community Hospital in Glendale, Arizona.
He was born on August 24, 1926, in Rushford to Rasmus and Inga (Magnuson) Helleland. Wally lived his entire life in the Rushford area. He married LaVaughn Highum on September 2, 1947.
Wally worked as a dairy farmer for many years. Following his retirement from farming he worked for Jim's Building Center in Rushford for several years.
He was a member of Rushford Lutheran Church. Wally and his wife enjoyed spending winters in the Phoenix, Arizona area.
He is survived by his wife: LaVaughn, 1 son: Leon (Cheryl) Helleland of Rushford; five daughters: Diane (Don) McCaul of Scottsdale, AZ, Pat (Roy) Feine of Blaine, MN, Susan Pass of Stillwater, MN, Judy (Pete) Julsrud of Glendale, AZ, and LuAnn (Brian) Bussler of Chandler, AZ; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three sisters: Madeline Rustad of Rushford, Sylvia Youmans of Minneapolis, MN, and Idella Moore of West Covina, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one great-granddaughter. The funeral service was Saturday, January 20, 2001, at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Rev. Minette Stalheim Johnson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Laurie, Helen J.
Helen J. Laurie, the former Mrs. Helen J. (John) David, 83, of Sun City West, Ariz., and formerly of Winona, died Wednesday, January 17, 2001 at the Mayo Medical Center, Scottsdale, Ariz.
She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She is survived by her husband, William Laurie; two sons, and two stepchildren.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 26, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Winona. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona.

Konter, Rose A.
Rose A. (Konsela) Konter, 87, of Buffalo City, Wis., died Wednesday, January 17, 2001 at St. Michael's Lutheran Home in Fountain City, Wis.
She was born March 31, 1913 in the Town of Montana, Buffalo County, Wis., to Robert and Olga (Obigelo) Konsela. On September 29, 1921 she and Roman Konter were married in St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waumandee, Wis. He died February 16, 1983.
Rose farmed with her husband in the town of Montana until 1958, when they moved to Buffalo City.
She was an avid gardener with a true love of flowers and a passion for sewing and quilting.
She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alma, Wis., and St. Cecelia's Study Club.
Survivors include two sons, Albert (Kathy) Konter of Viola, Ark. and Raymond (Patricia) Konter of Buffalo City; three daughters, Delores (Eldon) Laehn of Fountain City, Wis., Evelyn (Raymond) Baker of Greendale, Wis., and Bernadette (Elmer) Duellman of Fountain City; one daughter-in-law, Pat Konter of Oak Creek, Wis.; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Konsela of Hixton, Wis., and August Konsela; and a sister, Jennie Pogreba of Independence, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, Lonnie, four sisters and three brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 22, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alma, with Father John W. Steiner officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Waumandee, Wis.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Stohr-Hagen-Wozney Funeral Home in Alma, where there will be a 5 p.m. rosary, then from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church in Alma.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Rose's grandchildren.

Brabbit, Margaret A.
Margaret A. Brabbit, 67, died Thursday, January 18, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
Margaret was born June 10, 1933 in Winona, to George and Lucille (Miller) Loth. On December 11, 1954 she married Irvin R. Brabbit in Winona. He died July 7, 1981.
Margaret was a lifelong homemaker, living in Stockton for 19 years, and had been in Lewiston for the past year.
She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Winona.
Margaret is survived by one son, Russ (Kris) Brabbit of Lewiston, Minn.; two daughters, Sue (Roger) Frankum of Minnesota City, Minn. and Linda (John) Thesing of Lewiston; her mother, Lucille Loth of Winona; eight grandchildren, Niki (Mark) Kieffer, Stephanie Thesing, Roger Frankum Jr., Amy Frankum, Danny Frankum, Spencer Frankum, Lee Brabbit and Cody Brabbit; one great-grandson, Landon Kieffer; five brothers, Robert (Pat) Loth of Winona, Roger (Pat) Loth of St. Charles, Richard Loth of Houston, Minn., George (Sharon) Loth Jr. of Prior Lake, Minn., and James (Nancy) Loth of Winona; a sister, Carol (Stanley) Honsey of Rushford, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Loth Sr.
Funeral services are planned for Monday, January 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church in Winona with Rev. Mary Hurmence officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Iverson, Ronald L.
Ronald L. Iverson, 51, Winona, died Thursday, January 18, 2001 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Wabasha, Minn.
Ron was born August 19, 1949 in Rushford, Minn., to Robert L. "Brink" and Grace Irene (Hoiland) Iverson.
He graduated from Rushford High School where he was all-conference in football two years. Following high school he served in the Navy and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Following his return from Vietnam, Ron attended welding school in Ohio. He then moved to Winona and worked as a welder. In October of 1985 he began working for the Army Corps of Engineers as a deck hand on the dredge Thompson, later becoming a river pilot. In 1990 he transferred to maintenance and repairs.
Ron was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt with his dog, Candy.
Survivors include his mother, Grace Iverson of Rushford; a brother, Ross L. Iverson of Rushford; two sisters, Gayle Noel of Onalaska, Wis. and Nancy Atkinson of Peterson, Minn.; six nephews, Jon-Paul, Patrick and Joseph Barillas, Todd and Matthew Atkinson, and Tom Iverson; four nieces, Leslie Gilbert, Jackie Stenzel, Julie Boyum, and Amy Peterson; and many grand-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, January 22 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Rushford with Rev. Ernest Harrelson officiating. Friends may call one hour before services at the church. Cremation will follow with burial at a later date.

Nagle, Violet Mary
Violet Mary Nagle, age 97, formerly of Pickwick, Minn., passed away Thursday, January 18, 2001 at LaCrescent Health Care Center, LaCrescent, Minn.
Violet was born March 11, 1903 to Arnold and Lucy (Harvey) Hanson in Sherburn, Minn. She married Joseph A. Nagle in 1927 at Fairmont, Minn.
She attended Winona Normal School and later Winona Teacher's College. She taught school for one year in Winona. She taught for 30 years at Whitlock, Dick, Richmond Ridge and Pickwick Schools. She retired in 1970.
She was active in the Audubon Society, a member of the Pickwick Baptist Church and the Winona County Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed sewing, her flowers, her grandchildren, making crafts and traveling.
Violet is survived by two sons, Gordon (Shirley) Nagle of Dakota, Minn. and Stanley (Cindy) Nagle of Gilbert, Ariz.; two daughters, Lila (Thelvin) Solem of Pickwick and Joanne (Charles) Koeller of LaCrescent; sixteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold (Thais) Hanson of Bothell, Wash.; a sister, Mildred Mayberry of Fairmont, Minn.; a brother-in-law, Williard Ioerger of Delavan, Minn.; and twenty-three loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in 1959, three grandsons, Roger Nagle, Joseph Solem and Scott Solem, three sisters, Harriet Hanson, Pearl Hall and Doris Ioerger, and a brother, Chester Hanson.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 22 at 11 a.m. at Pickwick Community Church with Pastor Nathan Sahlberg and Pastor Phil Williams officiating. Burial will be in Bush Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Gary Solem, Larry, Alan and Gordon Nagle, and Kevin and Ken Koeller.
Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Barbara Rood, Shelly Duffy, Mary Jo Mades, Pattie Nagle, Corrine Molling and Dawn Nagle.
