Richer, James W.
James W. Richer, 60, of North Minneapolis, Minn., died Monday, August 14, 2000 in St. Louis Park, Minn.
He was born June 18, 1940 in Winona to Edward and Anna Richer. He was a graduate of Cotter High School and Dunwoody Institute. He married Lois Stachowitz on June 17, 1961 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. She died March 14, 1988.
He is survived by two children, a daughter, Debra (John) Ross of Ramsey, Minn., and a son, Scott (Diane) Richer of Coon Rapids, Minn.; four grandsons: Chris and Tom Ross and Jake and Adam Richer; one granddaughter, Tiffany Ann Ross; and a brother, LeRoy Richer of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, his parents and two brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Church of St. Stephan in Anoka, Minn. Burial was in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal, Minn.
Olson, Shirley
Shirley Olson, 59, St. Charles, Minn., died Wednesday, August 23, 2000 at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles.
She was born to Sarah Duncan Starnes on February 14, 1941 in Britt, Iowa. She was raised in Atlantic, Iowa and graduated from Calmar Iowa Nursing School, receiving her RN degree. Shirley worked as an RN for 30 years and was active with the Children's Exchange Club for handicapped children.
She married Ron Olson on June 4, 1993 in Waterloo, Iowa. They moved to Des Moines, Iowa and resided there until moving to the St. Charles area in 1996. She enjoyed participating in Community Theater, her grandchildren and her cats.
She is survived by her husband, Ron; one daughter, Diane (Shane) Hillenga of West Des Moines, Iowa; one stepson, Gary (Kim) Olson of Eyota, Minn.; three stepdaughters, Kay (Jeff) Fishbaugher of St. Charles, Pat Goor of Stewartville, Minn., and Chris (Scott) Stephans of St. Charles; thirteen grandchildren; two brothers, Everett (Michelle) Starnes of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Bill (Connie) Starnes of Hamburg, Iowa; a sister, Darlene (Mervin) VanTuyl of Liberty, Missouri; seven nephews; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her mother, one son, Bill, and one granddaughter, Tanisha.
Funeral service was Saturday, August 26 at Hoff Funeral Homes-St. Charles Chapel with Rev. Sharon Johnson officiating.

Kohner, Philip J.
Philip J. Kohner, 80, of the Lamberton Residence, died on Thursday, August 24, 2000 at Community Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 5, 1920 in Winona, to Louis and Anna Kohner.
He served his country in World War II in the U.S. Army as a Surgeon Technician.
He was a self-employed painter prior to retirement.
Philip was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and the Neville-Lien VFW Post #1287.
He is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Ramczyk of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Marcella Bougeant of Farmington, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Louella and a brother, Edward.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 29 at 2 p.m. at Martin-Myhre Funeral Chapel with Rev. John M. Sauer officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with military rites provided by the Neville-Lien VFW Post #1287.
Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Casketbearers will be Mary Strelow, Marcy Strelow, Debra Ramer, Mindy Smith, Nancy Smith, and Therese Ziegeweid.

Hardtke, Lillian A.
Lillian A. Hardtke, 95, formerly of Lewiston, Minn., passed away Thursday, August 24, 2000 at the Sauer Memorial Home in Winona where she had been a resident for 8-1/2 years.
She was born on April 12, 1905, to Emil and Amelia (Johnson) Antonson in Greenwood Township, northern Minnesota. She was confirmed at Rushford Lutheran Church in 1920. She married Clement T. Hardtke on January 25, 1928 in Winona. They lived in Bethany and Lewiston, Minn. After her husband's death on October 3, 1974, she moved to Winona.
She was a member of Central Lutheran Church, Winona. A homemaker most of her life, she will always be remembered for her homemade buns and white sugar cookies.
Survivors are two sons, Robert (Dianne) of Winona and Frederick (Karen) of Sherrill, Iowa; a daughter, Geraldine (John) McConnell of San Jose, Cal.; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by an infant son, infant daughter, four brothers and one sister.
There will be a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 28, at Hoff Funeral Homes - Lewiston Chapel. Burial will be in the Bethany Moravian Cemetery in rural Lewiston. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

Sarah Catherine Stanislawski Cope
Sarah Catherine Stanislawski Cope, 93, of the Watkins Home and formerly of 561 East Second St., died Friday, August 25, 2000 at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona.
She was born January 8, 1907 in Winona to John R. and Catherine (Pellowski) Stanislawski.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish.
As Sarah has come to her eternal rest, many of you will remember her from the Hillside Fish House as a most gracious waitress who had a smile for everyone. She was employed there for 35 years and most recently at Midtown Foods.
Survivors include a niece, Carol (David) Fitzgerald of Winona; great-nieces and nephews: John (Chris) Fitzgerald of Winona, Tim (Mary) Fitzgerald of Indianapolis, Ind., and Tony Fitzgerald of Winona; great-great-nieces and nephews: Amanda, Matthew and Zachary Fitzgerald; and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, twin sons, John and James, a sister, two brothers, a nephew, and a very dear friend, Leonard Losinski of the Hillside Fish House.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Sunday, August 27, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with preliminary services at 12:30 p.m. at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home, with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a closing vigil service at 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Edward Kohner, Lloyd Harders, Jerry Dalleska, Tom Kropidlowski, Lambert Kluzik and Richard Weilandt.
Honorary pallbearer will be John Michalowski.
Memorials may be directed to St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish.

Robert J. Cerney, 43, died Friday, August 25, 2000 at the C&R Unit of Winona Community Memorial Hospital.

Burrichter, John A.
John A. Burrichter, 88, Wabasha, Minn., died Thursday, August 24, 2000 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
He was born July 15, 1912 in Wabasha, the son of John and Sophie (Stroot) Burrichter.
He lived and farmed his entire life on the family farm in Wabasha. He was a graduate of St. Felix High School in Wabasha. He married Lucille Kennebeck on April 26, 1943 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kellogg, Minn. Lucille was a school teacher.
John was a lifelong member of St. Felix Catholic Church and was a member of the St. Joseph's Society. He was also a member of various card clubs. He was very interested in softball, baseball and bowling. He served as the president of the Wabasha Bowling Association for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Burrichter of Wabasha; daughter and son-in-law, Mary B. Burrichter and Bob Kierlin of Winona; sisters and brother-in-law, Helen Burrichter, Wabasha, Kathy and Andrew Diddel, New York City, New York; uncle, Charles Passe of Wabasha; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Julius Burrichter and two sisters, Marie Huber and Marge Coleman.
A Funeral Mass will be held Sunday, August 27 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Felix Catholic Church with Revs. Donald Lovas and John Sauer officiating. Burial will be in St. Felix Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be John W. Burrichter, James Burrichter, Dean Kuklinski, Robert Schoenmann, Eugene Becker, and Howard Ludwigson.
Friends may call at the church on Sunday one hour before the service.
The family prefers memorials to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Wabasha.
