Pflughoeft, Barbara C.

Barbara C. Pflughoeft, 95, Lewiston, Minn., died Friday, July 8, 2001 at Lakeview Manor of Community Memorial Hospital, Winona.

Barbara was born on July 18, 1905, to Henry and Caroline (Krause) Heuer in Belvidere, Ill. She married Henry Pflughoeft in November 1923 at Grace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, Minn.

The couple lived in Ridgeway and farmed for 26 years. Henry died in July 1976. After her husband's death, Barbara moved to Lewiston where she lived until entering the C&R Unit of Community Memorial Hospital in 1995.

Barbara was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lewiston and previously of Grace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway.

She is survived by a son, Bud (Leora) Pflughoeft of St. Charles, Minn.; and a daughter, Bernice Engrav of Lewiston; a sister-in-law, Marion Heuer of Monroe, Wis., seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were Monday, June 11, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lewiston. Burial was in Centerville Cemetery near Witoka, Minn.

Elliott, Perry John

Perry John Elliott, 24, Altura, Minn., died Friday, June 8, 2001.

He was born September 25, 1976 in Rochester, Minn., to John and Theresa (Kreidermacher) Elliott.

He graduated from Lewiston-Altura High School in 1995 and Rochester Community and Technical College. He was currently in partnership with his Uncle "Scott" managing a dairy herd. Perry was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, and will be remembered for his great sense of humor, love for skiing, playing softball, golfing, pool, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his parents, John and Theresa of Altura; one brother, Mike (MaryJo) Elliott of Bloomington, Minn.; four sisters, Dorothy Elliot of Bloomington, Darline (Mark) Elliott Herber of Rollingstone, Minn., Alice (Christopher) Craine of Wabasha, Minn., and JoAnn (Jeff) Burns of Rochester, Minn.; one niece, Bailey; and six nephews, John, Peter, David, Joseph, Benjamin and Riley.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Funeral Mass was offered Tuesday, June 12, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone with Rev. Edward McGrath officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery at Oak Ridge.

Hoff Funeral Homes -Lewiston Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.

Elmore, Bernice Nagle

Bernice Nagle Elmore, 88, died Monday, June 11, 2001 at Lake Winona Manor.

Bernice was born November 14, 1912 in Mankato, Minn., to Morris and Rose Gibbons Nagle. She married Roderick Elmore, who has preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas, and a brother, Joseph.

She is survived by three sons, Peter (Lucia) of Pickwick, Minn., Michael (Ann), and Roderick, Jr., both of Fort Smith Arkansas; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Walluck of Canby, Ore.

Burial for Bernice will be held Wednesday, June 13, at 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Martin-Myhre Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lucking, Mary Lucille

Mary Lucille Lucking, 91, of Tucson, Ariz., and formerly of St. Charles, Minn., died Sunday, June 10, 2001 in Tucson.

Mary was born May 31, 1910 in St. Charles to Charles and Mary (Cahill) Sasse and graduated from St. Charles High School. Mary married Phillip Lucking, and they farmed near St. Charles until his death in 1963. She then made her home in St. Charles, wintering in Tucson, until moving permanently there in 1982. Mary was a homemaker.

She belonged to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and the St. Charles American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include one son, Charles (Linda) Lucking of Tucson; and a granddaughter, Lisa Schweitzer, all of Tucson.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Rev. James Callahan officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hoff Funeral Home's - St. Charles Chapel.

Benson, Manda G.

Manda G. Benson, 88, Houston, Minn., died Monday, June 11, 2001 at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston. Burial will be in Stone Church Cemetery in Houston.

Bublitz, The Rev. William

The Rev. William Bublitz, Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Winona, died Friday, June 1, 2001 in Phoenix.

Kohner, Bernard M.

Bernard M. Kohner, age 82, of Rt. 4, Winona (Pickwick), died Monday, June 11, 2001 at St. Anne Hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Langord, Rosella J.

Rosella J. Langord, 64, died Monday, June 11, 2001 at Community Memorial Hospital.

Rosella Julia Kluzik was born June 18, 1936 in Winona, to Stanislaus and Rose (Klonowski) Kluzik. Rosella married Ervin A. Langord.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. "Rosie, " as she was known best, was a devoted Pink Lady at Community Memorial Hospital for many years. She also loved the game of bingo and attending church bazaars.

Survivors include one daughter, Ann (Steve) Heublein of Winona; several cousins; and a good friend, Gladys Puryear of Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ervin, one son, Steven, and special friends, Howard Strain and Florence Hawly.

A funeral service is tentatively planned for Thursday, June 14, at 1:00 p.m. at Hoff Funeral Homes - Burke Winona Chapel with Rev. Daniel Dernek officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. There will be a Christian Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.

Noe, Otis

Otis Noe, 99, died Sunday, June 10, 2001 at the LaCrescent Health Care Center, LaCrescent, Minn.

Verdick, Evelyn M.

Evelyn M. Verdick, 89, of 146 Mill St., Minnesota City, Minn., died Saturday, June 16, 2001 at Sauer Memorial Home.

She was born March 26, 1912 in Rollingstone, Minn., to Peter and Agnes (Decker) Schell. She married Edward A. Verdick on June 16, 1936 in St. Casimir's Church, Winona.

She was employed at the Oaks Supper Club until its closing.

She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Parish and its St. Francis Circle.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Verdick of Minnesota City; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two half-brothers, and one half-sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Tuesday, June 19, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Minnesota City with Rev. Edward Cunningham OMI officiating. Burial was in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Rollingstone.

Pallbearers were Ed, Arnie, Charlie, Ronnie and Mike Schell and Bob Kronebusch.

Keller, Herbert W.

Herbert W. Keller, 94, of Wilson Township, died Thursday, June 14, 2001 at the C&R Unit of Community Memorial Hospital.

Herb was born August 8, 1906 in Wilson Township, Winona County, to Lewis and Alvina Berg Keller. He married Evelyn B. Matzke on June 3, 1931 in Winona. He lived and farmed in Wilson his entire life.

He was a member of St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church, was on the Wilson Town Board for several years, was on the District #16 School Board several years, the Wilson Creamery Board, and sold Pioneer Seed Corn.

He is survived by a son, Kenneth (Betty) Keller of Witoka, Minn; a daughter, Judith (Robert) Albrecht of Russell, KS; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Linda Laufenberger of the Lamberton Home.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one son, a granddaughter, Susan Vanderzee, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services were Tuesday, June 19, at St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. William Flesch officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Casketbearers were Dan Keller, Dennis and Rick Albrecht, Randy and Bradley Vanderzee, and Wayne Hornberg.
