McGill, Dr. Robert George, DDS

Dr. Robert George McGill, DDS, 77, of 117 East King St., died Monday, September 2, 2002 at Sauer Memorial Home, Winona.
He was born November 2, 1924 in Winona. He married Lila M. Mueska. They had three sons.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 6, at 2 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Visitation will be Thursday, September 5, from 5-8 p.m. at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Dittrich, Margaret 'Betty'

Margaret "Betty" Dittrich, 80, of Rochester and formerly of St. Charles and Altura died Friday evening at Madonna Meadows in Rochester.
Betty was born February 1, 1922 in Kellogg to Matthew and Bess (O'Dell) Arens. She graduated from Kellogg High School and attended Minneapolis Business College and worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis for two years. Betty and Orville Dittrich were married April 15, 1944 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kellogg. They made their home in Kellogg for a short time; later moving to the Altura and Oak Ridge area where they farmed for many years. In 1997 they moved to St. Charles; moving to Rochester in 2001. Orville died February 22, 2002.
Betty was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Catholic daughters and the Rosary Society. Survivors include 14 children, Diane Amos of Roseville; Patricia (Johnnie) Taylor of Apple Valley; Don (Jan) Dittrich of Goodview; Janice (John) Timm of Rochester; Ken (Susan) Dittrich of Elgin; Allen Dittrich of Plainview; Marcella (Tony) Schmidtknecht of Mesa, AZ; Joseph (Julie) Dittrich of St. Charles; Doreen (Brian) Kronebusch of Gilbert, AZ; Joan (Kevin) Luehmann of Eyota; Arlene (Roger) Fenske of Minnesota City; Carla (Bill) Speltz of Rollingstone; Pamela Dittrich Hewitt of St. Charles and Douglas Dittrich of Phoenix, AZ, 27 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three brothers Bob and Bill Arens both of Kellogg and Richard Arens of Lonsdale and a sister Eleanor Graner of Kellogg. In addition to her husband Orville, a son Larry, two grandchildren, one great-grandson, a brother Buzz and her parents preceded her in death.
A Funeral Mass will be 11 AM Wednesday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Revs. James Callahan, Caesar Dralega and Patrick Arens co-celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery at Oak Ridge. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Tuesday and 9:30 - 10:30 AM Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Home's - St. Charles Chapel.

Schneuer, Mabel Mae

Mabel Mae Schneuer, 79, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, lost her courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, and is now in the arms of her gracious loving Savior.
Mabel, one of twelve children, was born on Sept. 13, 1923 in Winona, Minn., to Ludwig and Martha (Neumann) Peterson. After high school and attending secretarial school in St. Paul, Minn., she worked as a secretary at Diamond Huller and was later transferred to Donovan Co. where she worked until she got married in 1947 to Walter "Mike" Schneuer. Mabel made her career as a wife and mother of six children. She ran a tight ship, was there when we needed her and always put others needs before her own. As the children got older, Mabel volunteered her services to the American Cancer Society, the American Legion, and her church.
She is preceded in death by her son, Michael, and her parents.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Walter "Mike"; children, Nancy (Rudy) Esala of Phoenix, Ariz, Craig (Brenda) Schneuer of Duluth, Timothy (Karen) Schneuer of Las Vegas, Nev., Jeanne (Ross) Maynard of Seattle, Wash., and Steven Schneuer of Seattle; five grandchildren, Brian, Joseph, Erin, Derek, Thomas; her sisters, Eunice Baer of Utica, Minn., Glennis Wondrow of Rochester, Minn., brother, Allen Peterson of Lewiston, Minn. Family requests memorials be directed to either the American Cancer Society or St. Mary's Hospice of Duluth.
Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday evening, Oct. 29 at the Bell Brothers Chapel and from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Oct. 30 at the Lutheran Church of Christ the King. Burial will be in Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral and Cremation Services.

Natasha "BeebrDoos" Ray Oian Vust

Natasha "BeebrDoos" Ray Oian Vust, 2-year old daughter of Gary and Brenda Oian Vust, of St. Peter, Minn., died Friday, October 25, 2002, at the St. Peter Community Hospital in St. Peter, Minn. She was born on June 14, 2000, in Minneapolis, Minn. Natasha was a member of the Highland Prairie Lutheran church in rural Peterson, Minn. where she was also baptized. She enjoyed dogs, balloons, balls, books, bubbles, flowers, and she loved her little Baba (toy lamb). Natasha's cheerful personality and sweet smile will be really missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her parents, Gary and Brenda Oian Vust; grandmothers: Bernice Oian of Peterson, Minn. and June Vust of George, Iowa; half sister, AnnaLisa Vust of Hopedale, Mass.; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, and one uncle. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, at the Highland Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Peterson, Minn. with the Rev. Wade Davick officiating. Burial will be in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery in Rushford, Minn., friends may call form 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Homes ­ Rushford Chapel in Rushford, Minn. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.

Rye, Ervin S.

Ervin S. Rye, 83, of Rushford, died Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Preston, Minn. Ervin was born on July 15, 1919, in South Fork of Fillmore County, Minn. to Peter and Margit (Sand) Rye. Ervin attended school at South Fork. He married Shirley Raaen on December 11, 1948, in Peterson, Minn. Ervin was a member of the Rushford Lutheran Church. He worked for Roverud, farmed in the Bratsberg Area, worked at Farmers Elevator and Darrs in Rushford until his retirement. Ervin is survived by his wife Shirley; children: Sandy (Dale) Rasmussen, Marlys (Jim) Johnson, Wayne (Jolene) Rye, all of Rushford, and Mary (Jeff) Darr of Durand, Wis.; ten grandchildren: Lori, Mike, Stacey, Justin, Janna, Josh, Luke, Joey, Jodie, and Stephanie; six great- grandchildren; four sisters: Norma Rasmussen, Mabel, Minn., Phyllis (Walter) Norby of Canton, Minn., Ardis Moen of Eagan, Minn. and Marjorie (Paul) McManimon of St. Leonard, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Paul and Joseph, and two brothers-in-law. The funeral service will be at Rushford Lutheran Church on Sunday November 3, at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial will be in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at Hoff Funeral Homes ­ Rushford Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church.

Mika, Hildegard E.

Hildegard E. Mika, 99, of St. Anne Extended Healthcare, and formerly of 164 E. Broadway, Winona, died Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at St. Anne Extended Healthcare.
She was born in Winona County on September 16, 1903, the daughter of John R. and Margaret (Ries) Rivers. She is a life long resident of Winona County. Hildegard attended Wilson, MN. grade school and Cathedral High School.
On October 26, 1940 she was united in marriage to George F. Mika at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Winona, MN. He died February 16, 1992. She is a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and the St. Joseph/St. Elizabeth Society of the Catholic Aid Association.
She worked as a housekeeper for the Hillyer family and then for Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary, Winona.
Survivors are a sister-in-law, Barbara Rivers, Rt. 2, Winona; many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Preceeding her in death were her parents, husband, two brothers, Isadore and Reinhard Rivers and one sister, Regina Philipps.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 4, 2002 at 2:00PM
at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Winona, Rev. Msgr. Roy Literski officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona.
Friends may call on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home.
Memorial gifts may be directed to Cathedral of the Sacred Heart or to the donor's choice.
Arrangements by the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Winona.

Dorn, Laura C.

Laura C. Dorn, 98, of Buffalo, Minn., and formerly of Winona, died Monday, October 28, 2002 at the Ebenezer Covenant Home.
A memorial service was held Thursday, October 31, at the Ebenezer Covenant Home in Buffalo, with Rev. Dennis Kolbrek officiating. Further services were held Saturday, November 2, at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home in Winona. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Rafferty, Genevieve T. Monahan

Genevieve T. Monahan Rafferty, 73, of Livonia, Mich., died Sunday, October 20, 2002.
She was born July 20, 1929 in Wyattville, Minn., the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (O'Rourke) Monahan. She married Raymond Rafferty in 1955. He preceded her in death in 2000.
Genevieve graduated from Winona High School and the College of Saint Teresa.
Genevieve is survived by her children, Terrance of Westland, Mich., Rose (Carlos) Aguirre of Livonia, Raymond (Francine) of Taylor, Mich., Jim (Kim) of Westland, Mich., Maureen (Randy) Byrne of Livonia, and James (Jennifer) of Canton, Mich.; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Collette Blaschka of Portland, Mich; and a brother, James Monahan of Midland, Mich.
Genevieve was preceded in death by a son, Patrick, three grandchildren, a sister, Rose Hennessy, and brothers, Joseph and Neil.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, October 30 at St. Priscilla's Catholic Church. Interment was at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights, Mich.

Wilbright, Thayne S.

Thayne S. Wilbright, 81, Rt. 3, Winona, died Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at his home.
He was born August 1, 1921 in Chatfield, Minn., to Charles O. and Gladys (Norton) Wilbright. He married Phyllis Bion. They later divorced.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Thayne is survived by three sons, Lyndon Wilbright of Winona, Lynn (Julie) Wilbright of Stockton, Minn., and Layne (Peggy Rausch) Wilbright of Winona; a stepdaughter, Linda (Jeff) Sass of Spring Valley, Minn.; grandchildren, Candace, Tanya and Jerod (Judy) Wilbright of Winona, Ryan and Dane Wilbright of Stockton, and Layne, Jr. (Debra), Shawn and Michelle Wilbright of Winona; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Elayne Pagel of Trempealeau, Wis., and Belva Briska of Corey Wood, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Charles, and special friend of 18 years, Bev Baker.
Thayne and Bev will be remembered for their love of travel, the outdoors, hunting and camping.
A funeral service was held Saturday, November 2, at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home with Chaplain Art Redig officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery where the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9 conducted military honors.
Pallbearers were family members.

Lelwica, Florence E.

Florence E. Lelwica, 90, of 556 East Second St., died Sunday, October 27, 2002 at Community Memorial Hospital.
Florence was born September 21, 1912 in Winona, to Martin and Stella (Paszkiewicz) Przybylski. Florence and Edward M. Lelwica were married July 30, 1935. Edward died April 19, 1988.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish and Harvest House. Florence was a devoted, loving mother and grandmother, She had an enormous faith in God, prayer and her rosary. She enjoyed reading, cooking and baking her famous apple pie, banana bread, lemon dessert, carrot bars and molasses cookies.
Florence is survived by her four children, Ceil Langowski (Dr. Gerald) of Winona, Jane Krabill (Dr. Donald) of Wabasha, Tom and Ed (Carolyn) both of Winona; grandchildren: Paul (Jackie) Adank of Downers Grove, Ill., Kathy Adank of Winona, John (Kari) Adank of LaCrosse, Wis., Julie Klein (Jamie) of St. Mary's, GA., Peggy Adank of Winona, Amy Blee-Dilley (Jon) of St. Cloud, Minn., Dr. Thomas Blee (Sondi) of Red Wing, Minn., Joseph Blee (Kristi) of Lakeville, Minn., Edward Lelwica of Winona and Jennier Lelwica of Chicago, Ill.; great-grandchildren: Matthew Beyerstedt, Austin and Sammy Adank, Whitney Weymiller, Nick and Jack Blee and Riley Blee; and two sisters, Esther Palmer of Winona and Sister Cecilia Przybylski, OSB, of Lacey, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Thursday, October 31 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Lejk, Richard A. "Snuffy"

Richard A. "Snuffy" Lejk, 77, formerly of 629 East Belleview St., died Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at Sauer Memorial Home.
He was born May 18, 1925 in Winona, to Leo and Helen (Edel) Lejk. He married Patricia Mlynczak on October 20, 1962 in Winona. She died May 20, 1996.
He was employed at the J.R. Watkins Company for 42 years.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, a life member of the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9, and a member of the Graphic Communications International Union.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe. Mr. Lejk was a staff sergeant with the 3rd Army Engineers.
Survivors include sisters-in-law, Carol (Gale) Doebbert and Mary Jane Drussell, both of Winona, and Winnie Lejk of St. Claire Shores, Mich.; a brother-in-law, Joseph Mlynczak of Winona; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and three brothers, Eugene, Leonard and Joseph.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday, October 14, at 11 a.m., at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with preliminary services at 10:30 a.m. at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery where the American Legion will provide military honors. Rev. Daniel R. Dernek will officiate.
Friends may call Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be members of the American Legion.
