Palubicki, Edward S.
Edward S. Palubicki, 81, of St. Paul, Minn., formerly of Winona, died Thursday, January 23, 2003, in St. Paul.
He was born November 13, 1921, to Mary (Kunda) and Henry Palubicki.
He was a graduate of Winona Senior High School, and was a World War II Army veteran, having served in France, Belgium, and Germany from 1942-1944.
He is survived by his brother, Stanley Palubicki of Winona; and two sisters, Ciel (Joe) Grain of Pacific Grove, Calif., and Grace (Duke) Hasselfeldt of Pebble Beach, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers, David, Henry, Eugene, and Frank.
A memorial service will be held in St. Paul, following cremation. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minn.
Beckman, Mary Lou
Mary Lou Beckman, age 76, of Lake City, died January 21, 2003, at Prince William Hospital in Manassas, Virginia.
Mary Lou was born March 4, 1926, in Hyde Park Township in Wabasha County to William & Edith (Lutz) Ryan. She grew up in the Millville area and she graduated from Plainview High School. After she graduated she moved to Lake City and worked at several businesses in Lake City. She married Robert Beckman January 22, 1947, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church rectory in Lake City. She and her husband operated Beckman's Bar until changing the name to the Embassy Bar. In 1972 they purchased the Blue Moon Café, which both ran together until his death in1997. She continued to operate the Blue Moon and Embassy Bar until selling the businesses in 1998. She remained very active, still serving on many boards and volunteering when-ever asked. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake City, served as Mayor of Lake City from 1980 to 1990, Planning Commission Member from 1968 to 1980, Served on the downtown Development Committee from 1980 to 1989, Star City executive board member 1982 to 1990, Lake City EDA board of directors 1987 to 1990, Wabasha County Commissioner 1991 to 1995, the Lake City Education Foundation Board, past President of the State American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, past President of the Lake City Wo-men's Club and she was Wabasha County outstanding senior citizen for 2002.
She is survived by two sons, Jon (Anne) of Red Wing, Joel (Janet) of Lake City; four daughters, Judith (Donald) Delamater of St. Paul, Charlene (William) Noelke of La Crosse, Wis., Roberta Beckman of St. Paul, Ann (Otis) Brooks of Manassas, Virginia; 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, two brothers Robert (Ann) Ryan of Rochester, William (Jeanette) Ryan of Millville; two sisters Judy Kay (Ed) Russell of Minneapolis, Jane (David) Gjerdingen of St. Paul. Her husband, one grandson and three brothers preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Sunday, January 26, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake City with Father James Russell officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4 to 8 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 at the funeral home Saturday. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church on Sunday.
PDaniel, Lloyd Jacob
Lloyd Jacob Daniel, 87, of Winona, died Saturday, January 18, 2003, at Fairview Seminary Nursing Home in Red Wing, Minn.
Lloyd was born in Rollingstone, Minn., on September 18, 1915, the son of John and Mary (Schell) Daniel. He married Alice E. Engler on October 2, 1939, in Altura, Minn.
Lloyd had been a grain buyer and weigher for over 35 years for Bay State Milling, retiring in 1978.
He is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Winona.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Alice; daughters, Karyn Duane of Winona, and Pamela (Michael) Mueller of Red Wing; a son, John Daniel of Fridley, Minn.; four grandchildren, Patrick (Cheryl) Duane, Nicole (Leif) Nelsen, and Amanda and Daniel Mueller; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Arnold, and four sisters, Della Stachowitz, Florence Stachowitz, Helen Blace, and Luella Kieffer.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, January 21, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Winona, with Rev. Joseph Keefe officiating. Entombment was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Patrick and Cheryl Duane, Nicole and Leif Nelson, and Amanda and Daniel Mueller.

Majerus, Eunice Margaret
Eunice Margaret Majerus, 87, of 366 East Howard St., died Thursday, January 23, 2003, at Lake Winona Manor, after a short illness.
She was born November 5, 1915, in Plainview, Minn., to Robert C. and Marie (Funk) Klavetter. She married Arnold M. "Barney" Majerus on February 8, 1937, in Plainview, Minn. He died September 20, 2000.
Prior to her retirement, Eunice was employed at Nash's and at Spurgeon's department stores.
She was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Parish.
She is survived by a son, Richard (Mary) Majerus of Oakdale, Minn.; two grandsons, Brian (Anita) Majerus of Mount Prospect, Ill., and Brett Majerus of Winona; a brother Stanley (Eleanore) Klavetter of Plainview, Minn.; and two sisters, Hazel (Jack) Knowlton of Rochester, Minn., and Eva Marie Caves of Wabasha, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Darrell, three brothers, and a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday, January 27, at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, with Rev. Shawn Haremza officiating. Interment will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Elba, Minn.
Friends may call Monday from 10 a.m. until time of the Mass at the Cathedral.

Wiskow, Marrion C.
Marrion Corinne Wiskow, 91, of St. Charles, died Monday evening, January 21, 2003, at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles.
Marrion was born March 3, 1911, in Arendahl Township of Fillmore County to Gilbert and Julia (Sandvig) Ferden. She and Clarence Wiskow were married May 12, 1932, at St. Charles. They farmed near St. Charles for 8 years before moving to Milwaukee, Wis., in 1939. In 1944 they returned to St. Charles. In 1957 the couple moved to Rochester where they lived until returning to St. Charles in 1972. In Rochester Marrion worked for Woolworth's, the Kahler Hotel and Arbuckles Bakery. Clarence died January 5, 1985.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of St. Charles.
Survivors include a son, Robert (Sandy) Wiskow of St. Charles, 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, two sisters, Bernice Harrison of Harmony and Irene Ferden of Waukesha, Wis., and a brother, Leland Ferden of St. Charles. In addition to her husband, a sister and a brother preceded her in death.
Funeral Services were 2:00 p.m. Friday at Hoff Funeral Home's - St. Charles Chapel with the Rev. Ramie Bakken officiating. Burial followed in Hillside Cemetery, St. Charles.
Fiedler, Rose (Drussell)
Rose (Drussell) Fiedler, 93, formerly of Winona, died at her home in Big Lake, Alaska, on December 28, 2002.
She was born in Minneiska, Minn., to Henry and Lizzie (Daniel) Drussell on November 18, 1909. She married Wilton Fiedler in Winona on April 20, 1929. They had two daughters.
In July 1944, Rose and her family moved to Anchorage, Alaska. In the 1970s, the family moved to Big Lake, Alaska, where she lived the rest of her life. In the later years, Rose and Wilton spent their winters in Kona, Hawaii, where she loved it dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, nine brothers, and five sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Jean (Herb) McKinney and Joan (Dick) Estes; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marguirite Drussell of Warsaw, MO., and Gladys Drussell of Winona; and many nieces and nephews.
At her request, Rose was cremated and had no funeral services.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Krogh, Brian David
Brian David Krogh, 48, formerly of Brainerd, Minn., died Thursday, January 30, 2003, at Community Memorial Hospital, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Brian was born on September 4, 1954, in Lakefield, Minn., to Herman and Lucille Stinar Krogh. He graduated from Lakefield High School in 1972. He attended St. John's University in Collegeville, and received his degree from Mankato Technical College. He married Paula Lamont on August 25, 1974. They were later divorced.
He worked for 25 years as a surveyor for the Minnesota Department of Transportation. His survey crew won numerous awards.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Brainerd.
He is survived by his father, Herman, of Sauer Memorial Home; a brother, Blaine (Mary) Krogh of Goodview, Minn.; and five nieces and nephews, Brandon, Travis, Joel, Paul and Sydney.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Memorial services were Saturday, February 1, at Martin-Myhre Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Joseph Keefe officiating.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Sauer Memorial Home.

Gonides, Marlene L.
Marlene L. Gonides, 63, of Goodview, Minn., died Wednesday, January 29, 2003.
A funeral service was held Saturday, February 1, at St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Frederick Buth officiating. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Hart, Minn.
Huntbatch, Zella Ruth
Zella Ruth Huntbatch, 81, of the Sauer Memorial Home, Winona, MN., died Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at the Sauer Home.
She was born in Graettinger, Iowa, on October 14, 1921, the daughter of Claude and Lulu (Snyder) Rucker. Zella married Edward R. Huntbatch on February 23, 1941, in Geneva, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1982.
She and her husband moved to Winona in 1973, from Geneva, Iowa. She was a dedicated wife and mother. Zella is a former member of the Geneva United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, Gary (Kay) Huntbatch, Goodview, Minn.; grandchildren, Andrea (Robert) Monk, Winona, and John (Janelle) Huntbatch, Ely, Minn; and two great-grandchildren, Lleyton Monk and Jordan Huntbatch.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter, one brother, one sister, and her stepmother.
Funeral services for Zella will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4, at the Sietsma-Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton, Iowa, with Rev. Patricia Connor of Geneva United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call at the Sietsma-Vogel Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to time of services. Interment is in Lindenwood Cemetery, Geneva.
