Gilbert, Sister Terence
Sister Terence Gilbert, 85, a Franciscan Sister of the Congregation of Our Lady of Lourdes, Rochester, Minn., who served as an educator, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Assisi Heights, Rochester.
Born Geraldine Gilbert on July 21, 1917, in Chicago, Ill., Sister Terence entered the Franciscan Congregation in 1934, from St. Priscilla Parish, Chicago. She made profession of vows in 1937, and began her teaching career at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Easton, Minn. Sister taught in various schools in Minnesota including Currie, Waseca, Winona, and Sleepy Eye. She taught at Lourdes High School, Rochester, from 1956-1958, and in Austin, Minn., from 1968-1986, where she served as assistant principal and counselor at Pacelli High School. She also taught in Ironton and Portsmouth, Ohio, and Chicago. She retired to Assisi Heights in 1992, and celebrated her diamond jubilee in 1997.
Sister Terence is survived by her Franciscan community.

Rozek, Debra J. (Davis)
Debra J. (Davis) Rozek, 47, of Winona, died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at Lake Winona Manor.
She was born on May 4, 1955, in Virginia, Minn., the daughter of Marion L. and Beverly J. (Pickar) Davis. She was united in married with Robert Rozek on April 6, in Winona.
Debra's family and friends were a very important part of her life, and she never forgot anyone's birthday or anniversary. She will be lovingly remembered for the care and concern which she showed to others. This was especially shown in her chosen profession as a Registered Nurse, and the twenty-plus years that she spent caring for patients at Community Memorial Hospital.
She was active in many groups and organizations including the Stitch and Bitch Club, the Birthday Club, and the Booster Club. Debra was the president and former secretary of the Touchdown Club, and also served as the chairperson of the RN Negotiating Committees.
In her spare time, Debra enjoyed crafts and sewing. She was an avid sports fan, especially of the Packers. Debra's favorite sporting events were those where her children were involved.
Debra is survived by her husband, Robert Rozek, of Winona; sons, Ryan and Jay Rozek, of Winona; parents, Marion and Beverly Davis, of Caledonia, Minn.; two sisters, Mamie (Jerry) Pronschinske, of Winona, and Tammy Davis, of Trempealeau, Wis.; one brother, Cal (Vicky) Davis, of Braidwood, Ill.; five nephews, Curtis (Darcy) Johnson, of Houston, Minn., Jesse Johnson, of Winona, Aaron Pronschinske, of Winona, Cole and Luke Davis, of Braidwood; four nieces, Heather (Kevin) Larson, and Heidi (Warren) Perry, both of Goodview, Minn., Joy Pronschinske, of Winona, and Meghan Davis, of Braidwood; five great-nephews; three great-nieces; as well as many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Abraham, and by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Living Light Church with Rev. Jerry Vanravenhorst and her father, Marion L. Davis, officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of services.
Pallbearers will be Ryan and Jay Rozek, Curtis and Jesse Johnson, Aaron Pronschinske, and Cal Davis.

Johnson, Duane L.
Duane L. Johnson, 66, of Dover, Minn., died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, Minn. He had been ill since November.
Duane was born May 12, 1936, in Spencer, Iowa, to Roy and Dorothy (Krukow) Johnson. He grew up on a farm near Spencer, later moving to Minnesota where he graduated from Pine Island High School in 1954. Duane served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Germany. He and Edwina Brunkow were married April 19, 1958. They made their home in Dover since 1962. He worked 31 years as a long-haul semi-truck driver, and later did excavating work.
Duane enjoyed fishing with family. He was a very active 31-year member of the Dover Volunteer Fire Department. He also belonged to the Dover United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edwina; four children, Robert Johnson, of Boise, Idaho, Deborah Reimers, of Chatfield, Minn., Patricia (Larry) Esser, of Rochester, Minn., and Sandra (Robert) Ihrke, of Dover; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his mother, Dorothy Johnson, of Cambridge; five brothers and sisters, Doris (Earl) Senn, of Trout Dale, Oregon, Joyce Smith, of Spencer, Iowa, Dennis (Liz) Johnson, of Milwaukie, Ore., Roger Johnson, of Cambridge, and Marjorie (Ray) Wataja, of Marella, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his son Duane, three grandchildren, and his father.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 26, at United Methodist Church, with Rev. Sharon Johnson officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Dover.

Williams, Delvin "Del"
Delvin "Del" Williams, 72, of 951 East Fifth St., Winona, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
Del was born on April 27, 1931, in LaCrosse, Wis., to Joseph and Amanda (Doely) Williams. He graduated from LaCrosse Logan High School in 1949. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served from 1949-1951. He married Geraldine Keller on July 2, 1955, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
He began employment as the manager of the Winona office of Minnesota Loan and Thrift in 1959. In 1984, he joined Allstate Insurance until his retirement in 1995.
Del is an active member of Central Lutheran Church and a past member of the Winona Area Chamber of Commerce, Winona Area Jaycees, the Elks Lodge, Warrior Club and the Redmen Club. He enjoyed walks around the lake and golfed as often as possible.
Delvin is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Keller); his children, Fred, of Victoria, Texas, Tawny (Chip) Greene, of Eagan, Minn., Robert (Sonia) Williams, of Burnsville, Minn., Jackie Koop, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and James (Denise) Williams, of San Antonio, Texas; his grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Danielle, Mahli, Corey, Mallory and Gregory; his great-grandchildren, Abbey and Willie; step-grandchild, Fadra; and his brothers and sisters, Gerald (Virginia) Williams, Janice (Dr. Ronald) Nelson, Daniel Williams, Joseph (Wilda) Williams, and Edward (Carolyn) Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 10, at Central Lutheran Church. Burial was in Toledo Cemetery, rural LaCrescent, Minn.
Casketbearers were Ron Nelson, Joe Williams, Ed Williams, Dan Williams, Robert Schurrer, and Mike Papenfuss.
Honorary casketbearer was Gerald Williams.
Memorials may be given to Central Lutheran Church and the City of Winona Bike Path.

Hemker, Margaret L.
Margaret L. Hemker, 89, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston, Minn.
Margaret was born July 16, 1913, the daughter of Bernard and Margaret Thicke of LaCrescent, Minn. On November 24, 1937, she married Ervin Hemker.
Margaret was a lifelong homemaker and partner on their family farm.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wilson, Minn.
Margaret is survived by two sons, Robert (Nancy) Hemker, and Richard (Judy) Hemker, both of Winona; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ervin, and her brothers and sisters.
A private family service was held.

Groves, Dorothy M.
Dorothy M. Groves, 74, of Coon Rapids, Minn., and formerly of Winona, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 7, 2003.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; a daughter, Sharon "Sherry" (Chuck) Dowd; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Dennis) Abbott, Jeffrey (Zenda), and Kevin (Ella); three great-grandchildren, Paul, Stephanie and Karleigh; her mother, Marie Olson; a brother, Robert (Karan) Olson; a sister, Betty (Darwin) Ellinghuysen; and a cousin, Lyle (Margrit) Ives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Olson, and great-grandson, Matthew Abbott.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 13, at Goodview Trinity Lutheran Church, 820 37th Avenue, Winona. Burial will be in Fountain City Cemetery, Fountain City, Wis. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5-7 p.m. at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd., Coon Rapids, Minn., and one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Camilla Rose Convalescent Center.

Gilmore, Sister Killene
Sister Killene Gilmore, 88, a Franciscan Sister of the Congregation of Our Lady of Lourdes of Rochester, Minn., who served as an educator, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Assisi Heights, Rochester.
Born Mary Ellen Gilmore on January 27, 1915, in Montrose, S.D., Sister Killene entered the Franciscan Congregation in 1936, from St. Ann Parish in Humboldt, S.D. She made profession of vows in 1938, and began her teaching ministry at St. Peter Parish, Caledonia, Minn. She taught in various schools in Minnesota including St. James, Tracy, Albert Lea, Winona, and from 1954-56, at St. Francis Parish in Rochester. She also taught in Ironton, Ohio, and Chicago, Ill. She served as activities director at St. Anne Hospice, Winona and pastoral assistant in Grand Junction, Colo. and Charleston, S. C. From 1984-1990 she was receptionist at Tau Center, Winona. She retired to Assisi Heights in 1990, and celebrated her diamond jubilee in 1998.
Sister Killene is survived by her Franciscan Community.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 11, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes, Assisi Heights, with Rev. Dean Marek officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Assisi Heights on Wednesday until time of service.

Lemmer, Roger Nicholas
Roger Nicholas Lemmer, 59, of 1710 Valley View Drive, died Monday, June 9, 2003, at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
He was born June 18, 1943, in Fountain City, Wis., to Nicholas and Bernadette C. (Stelmach) Lemmer. He married Maxine Keen. They later divorced. Roger married Marcina L. Losinski on October 6, 1995.
He was employed at and retired from Cytec Engineered Materials (Fiberite).
Roger was a member of St. Casimir's Catholic Parish, Junto Club, served on the board finance committee of WACS, and the board of DAC. He was a sports enthusiast, loved golfing and was an avid Packer fan.
He is survived by his wife, Marci, of Winona; three sons, Greg (Gail) Lemmer, of Winona, Nick Lemmer, of Minneapolis, and Daniel (Elizabeth) Lemmer, of Winona; two grandchildren, Katie and Nathan; two brothers, Jerry Lemmer, of St. Paul, Minn., and James (Gloria) Lemmer, of Waukesha, Wis.; three sisters, Barbara (Keith) Nestingen, of Blair, Wis., Kim (Al) Asby, of New Berlin, Wis., and Nikki (Nick) Richmond, of Cochrane, Wis.; a brother-in-law, Mike Jereczek; and mother-in-law, Mary Kostner, of Winona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jeffrey, a sister, Joan, and his dog, "Mutly."
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, June 13, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Casimir's Church, with Rev. James W. Hennessy and Father John Abts, OFM of San Antonio, Texas, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home, and again on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. There will be a Christian Wake Service Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Junto Club members, Tom Mauszyski, Don Stone, Fred Fletcher, Fred Foss, Dan Hall, Neil Sawyer, Chris Steinbach, Bill Davis, Stephan Delano, Ben Johnson, and Roger Zehren.
Memorials may be directed to LifeSource (Organ Donation), 2550 University Avenue W., Suite 315 S, St. Paul, MN 55114.

Gordon, Scott R.
Scott R. Gordon, 38, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2003, at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Winona.
Scott graduated from Winona High School in 1983. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the USS Constellation.
He was employed by the Winona Street Department.
Scott is survived by his father and stepmother, Richard B. and Leslie Gordon; his mother and stepfather, Mary and Jon D. Mullen; his sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Michael B. Mullen; his grandmother, Bettie Gordon; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, with Rev. Daniel Dernek officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the time of Mass.
At Scott's request, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 332 North Lauderdale St., Memphis, TN 38105-2729.

Petschow, Shane
Shane Edward Petschow, 34, died accidentally on Sunday, June 8, 2003. He was born in Winona on February 10, 1969, the son of Edward J. and Mary C. (Cummings) Petschow.
He graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1989. Shane was a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corp, and in 1992 he served in the Philippines during the evacuation of the earthquake victims. In mid-December, 1992, he was part of "Operation Restore Hope" which was a United Nations mission to rescue millions of starving people in Somalia. He also served in Kuwait during "Operation Desert Storm". Shane graduated from the unlicensed apprentice program in 2002 at the Paul Hall Center for Maritime Training and Education in Piney Point, Maryland. He recently visited the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. Shane is a member of the Seafarer's Union.
Shane is survived by his father, Edward J. Petschow (Deborah McRae), Rt. 2, Winona; mother, Mary Cummings, (Lynn Hanson), Rollingstone, Minn.; brother, Collin Petschow, Rt. 2, Winona; sisters, Danielle (Steven) Coey, Minnesota City, Minn., and Melissa Petschow, (Blaine Wenger), Buffalo City, Wis.; nephews, Quintin and Aidan Coey; maternal grandparents, Donald and Catherine Cummings, Rt. 3, Winona; fiancee, Laura Hanson, Rochester, Minn.
Shane will be remembered for his love and adventure of life. He has traveled the world, making friends wherever he went. He is our hero and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edward and Dorothy Petschow.
Funeral services for Shane will be on Thursday, June 12th at 7:00 p.m. at the Fawcett- Junker Funeral Home, Rev. Paul Nelson, officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Following the services, members of VFW Post 1287, Winona will conduct military burial honors at the funeral home. Cremation of Shane's body will be at Woodlawn Crematory, Winona.
Memorials may be given to Winona Senior High Football program.
