Schilling, Eli B.
Eli B. Schilling, 85, of Houston, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston, Minn. Eli was born on March 22, 1918, in Minden, Iowa to Henry and Olga (Mattsen) Schilling. He was raised in Herman, Minn. He farmed in the Herman area and was a WWII Army Veteran Serving in Italy in the Medical Corp. In 1955 Eli moved to Twin Ridge near Houston. He farmed there until he retired and moved to Houston in 1997. Eli had a great love for animals. He especially loved his horses and was an excellent hog farmer. Eli always had a strong conviction toward supporting the local merchants. He married Rita in 1957, they were later divorced. He married Gertrude Senn Kinstler on June 1, 1985. Eli was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Caledonia, Minn. and the Arnet ­ Sheldon American Legion Post in Houston. Eli was survived by his wife Gertrude; a step daughter, Shelly Konkel, who he raised with his first wife; three step sons and one step daughter who are Gertrude's children; one sister, Mary Alice Vickturek; three nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. The funeral service was at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Caledonia with the Rev. Jon Wolff officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Caledonia with military honors by the Arnet ­ Sheldon American Legion Post of Houston. Hoff Funeral Homes ­ Houston Chapel.

Snyder, Pat (Cisewski)
Pat Snyder (nee Cisewski), passed away at home after a long illness on Monday, June 2, 2003, at the age of 70, surrounded by her family and her devoted husband of 52 years.
She is survived by husband, John; children, Steve, Sue Dynon, Gary and Peggy (Al) Brummer; daughter-in-law, Linda Snyder; sister-in-law, Jean Mueller; and her nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who were the center of her life.
Special thanks to Pastor Dale and the staff at Fairview Hospice, as well as Tom Leverous, her Human Service Social Worker. Also special thanks to Neva Hanson, Marlys Kerns, and to all who have supported the family through the years.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 9, from 1 p.m. until the Memorial Service at 2 p.m., at the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel, 4343 Nicollet, Minneapolis.
Memorials may be directed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Kowalewski, Dennis John
Dennis John Kowalewski, 56, of Goodview, Minn., died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at his home, after a battle with Agent Orange related cancer while serving in Vietnam.
He was born July 22, 1946, in Winona, to Valentine J. and Charlotte (Gallagher) Kowalewski. He married Linda Lee Reagan on February 22, 1999, in Las Vegas. Nev.
Dennis was a member of Local #1382 Carpenter & Joiner Union. He was a retired union carpenter and had also worked on highway construction.
Her enjoyed trout fishing and pheasant hunting.
He honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Kowalewski, of Goodview; a son, Robert (Sherry) Kowalewski, of Winona; two stepsons, Jack (Jody) Roberts, of LaCrescent, Minn., and Scott (Suzanne) Roberts, of Winona; a stepdaughter, Heather Millen, of Winona; two grandchildren, Tyler and Brittany Kowalewski; ten stepgrandchildren: Coral, Skyler, Ashley, Rachael, Morgan, Aspen, Jeremy, Erin, Christopher and Adam; a brother, Donald (Judy) Kowalewski, of Trempealeau, Wis.; three sisters, Charlene (Arnie) Egge, of Peterson, Minn., Patricia (Ron) Struckmeyer, of Nashville, Ill., and Kathleen (Jim Johnson) Dickhut, of Austin, Minn.; a stepbrother, Rick (Virginia) Lilla, of Rochester, Minn.; two stepsisters, Lori (Jonathan) Datta, of Winona, and Leasah Lilla, of Stockton, Minn.; and several loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his stepmother, Marge Kowalewski.
A funeral service was held Saturday, June 7, at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home with Msgr. Roy E. Literski officiating. The American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9 conducted military honors following the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Tighe, Msgr. Emmett Francis
Msgr. Emmett Francis Tighe, 76, of Rochester, Minn., died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at Madonna Towers in Rochester.
A Funeral Mass was held Saturday, June 7, at Madonna Towers Chapel in Rochester. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in St. James, Minn.

Davenport, Dorothy
Dorothy "Dottie" A. Davenport, 75, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Adult Foster Care in Lewiston, Minn.. Dottie was born December 26, 1927, in Craven County, North Carolina, to Luther and Darcus (Knox) Sutton. She married Rueben Roedeske and moved to Fountain City, Wis., where they farmed for a few years. They were later divorced. Dottie married Dave Davenport and moved to North Dakota and lived there for a year and moved back to Winona following her husband's death. While living in Winona Dottie worked as a waitress, bartender and her last place of employment was with the Holiday Inn as a housekeeper.
Survivors include one daughter, Brenda (Wesley) Whetstone of Winona; two sons, Reuben (Kaye) Roedeske Jr. of Elk Creek, Missouri. and Lyman "Sonny" (Donna) Roedeske of Stockton, Minn.; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren; and one brother, Martin (Daisy) Sutton of Ernul, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave, parents, two sisters, Gladys and Edna, and four brothers, J.N., Dalmar, Earl and Billy.
Funeral services are planned for Saturday, June 7, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at Hoff Funeral Homes - Burke Winona Chapel with the Winona Hospice Chaplain Kathy Redig officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Hoff Funeral Homes - Burke Winona Chapel on Friday from 5-8:00 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
Dottie's family would like to extend a special thank you to Michelle and Rick Speltz and the staff at the Speltz Adult Foster Care for the excellent loving care for Dottie the past four years.
The family suggests that memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Losinski, Romuald
Romuald "Roman" Losinski, 83, of Trempealeau, WI passed away at his home on Monday, June 2, 2003.
He was born February 25, 1920, in the Town of Arcadia, Wis., to Jacob and Catherine (Meyer) Losinski. On October 21, 1947, Roman married Dorothy Kline at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Creek, Wis.
Roman farmed his entire life. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served as a Director on the A-G Creamery Board in Arcadia. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed gardening and visiting friends and relatives.
Roman is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Dorie" Losinski of Trempealeau; 3 sons, Robert (Sue) Losinski and James (Cassandra) Losinski, both of Arcadia, and David Losinski of Trempealeau; 5 grandchildren, Eric, Matt, Chad, Vicki, and Douglas Losinski; 2 sisters, Theresa (Chancy) Kline of Dodge, Wis., and Paula Rogalla of Cudahy, Wis.; and 2 brothers, Harry Losinski of Pigeon Falls, Wis., and Eugene Losinski of Arcadia.
Preceding Roman in death were his parents; a twin brother; 3 sisters, Margaret, Cecilia, and Eleanor; and 1 grandson, Jason.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2003, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Polcyn officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Agrimson, Lempie
Lempie S. Agrimson, 94, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford, Minn. Lempie was born October 29, 1908, in New York Mills, Minn., to Oscar and Selma (Tervo) Salo. On November 2, 1940, she married Elbert L. Agrimson in Olivia, Minn. He later died November 27, 1993. Lempie obtained her teaching certificate at Moorhead State University and later received her bachelor's degree from Winona State University. Lempie's teaching career began in rural schools including Kingston, Peterson and Maland District and ended in Lanesboro. Lempie was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Peterson and was affiliated with the Apostolic Lutheran Church. Lempie enjoyed art, painting with watercolors and oils and also enjoyed playing the organ. Lempie had been a resident of Good Shepherd Lutheran Home since 1994.
Survivors include a nephew who was raised by Elbert and Lempie, Robert L. Dungay of Fergus Falls, Minn.; his children, Dianne Dungay and Robert P. Dungay, both of Philadelphia, and Jody Dungay of Germany; and one sister, LaBelle E. Froyd of Lake City, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elbert; four brothers, Walter, Arthur, Edward and Melvin; and five sisters, Edna, Ellen, Elvira, Tyynie and Ruth.
Funeral services are planned for Thursday, June 5, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Peterson with the Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial will be in the East Grace Cemetery in Peterson. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Hoff Funeral Homes ­ Rushford Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Greenwood, Elizabeth
Elizabeth J. "Betty" Greenwood, 72, of Pickwick, Minn., died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at her home. She was born in Winona on May 12, 1931, the daughter of Valentine and Mary (Gliszczynsky) Modjeski.
Betty married George J. Cierzan in 1950. They were later divorced. On July 28, 1962, she married LeRoy D. Greenwood in Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1999.
Betty was a helper for Barb's Catering and also for Steak Shop Catering. She is a member of St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church of Winona.
She enjoyed playing bingo and loved to fish. She was an avid sports fan, especially the Twins and Vikings. Betty was a loving mom and homemaker, who will be missed by her family.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Jack) Thornton, Columbia Heights, Minn., Rebecca (Lee) Karwoski, Fredericksburg, Va., and Brenda McNally, Winona; six grandchildren, Kelly and Benjamin Thornton, Jill and Anthony Karwoski, and Bryan and Patrick McNally; three brothers, Valentine (Bernadine) Modjeski, Gerald (Barbara) Modjeski and Richard Modjeski, all of Winona; three sisters, Genevieve (William) Thompson, Mercer, Wis., Ruth Thilmany, Winona, and Dolores Wraalstad, Oconomowoc, Wis.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Barbara Cierzan, and six brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Betty will be on Thursday, June 5, 2003, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winona, Rev. James Nelson officiating. Interment will be in Pickwick Cemetery, Pickwick, Minn.
Friends may call on Wednesday, June 4, from 5-8 p.m. at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, then on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. to time of services at 1:30 p.m. at the church.
Casket bearers are Benjamin Thornton, Bruce Greenwood, Scott Parpart, Gene Rackow, Ron Modjeski and Jim Erdmann.

Dorsch, Elsie Anna Thurley
Elsie Anna Thurley Dorsch, 91, Winona, died Friday, May 30, 2003.
She was born March 10, 1912, to Arthur and Wilhelmina Fisher Thurley.
She is survived by daughters, Mary (Butch) Kosidowski, of Winona, and Jean (Dan) Pelowski, of Chaska, Minn.; five grandchildren, Stephen (Mary) Kosidowski, of Winona, Sheryl (Bob) Kowalewski, of Winona, Kristin (Mike) Lind, of Davie, Fla, Jason (Serena) Pelowski, of Edina, Minn., and Nathan (Nicole) Pelowski, of Chanhassen, Minn.; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth (Elmer) Gottchalk of Sauk Rapids, Minn.; and a brother, Robert (Lillian) Thurley, of Winona.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Dorsch; her parents; a sister, Louise Livingston; brothers, Albert, Arthur, and Fred Thurley; and a son-in-law, Duane (Butch) Kosidowski; and her special friend, Steve Sadowski.
Elsie was an avid sports participant and fan. Her favorite sports were bowling (where she was inducted into the National Bowling Hall of Fame), golfing, and watching the Minnesota Twins. She also loved to play bridge and poker with her friends at Westfield.
Elsie worked at J.R. Watkins Co. as a respected secretary.
She was a faithful member of St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 30 years.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 1, at St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. David Henslin officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Dan Pelowski, Nathan Pelowski, Stephen Kosidowski, and Robert Kowalewski.
We will miss her family devotion, good example, and most of all, her love.

Rodriguez, Kristina L. "Tina" (Steele)
Kristina L. "Tina" (Steele) Rodriguez, 27, of LaCrosse, Wis., died at her home on Saturday, May 31, 2003.
Tina was born in LaCrosse on March 13, 1976. She married Hugo Rodriguez on October 19, 2002, in LaCrosse. She was baptized, along with her son, Hugo Jr., on April 2, 2003, and was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in West Salem, Wis.
Tina is survived by her husband, Hugo; her four children, Dylan and Alisha Steele, both of LaCrosse, Alexis Collins, of Holmen, Wis., and Hugo Rodriguez Jr., of LaCrosse; her parents, Gary and Connie Greene, of Onalaska, Wis.; two brothers, Robert A. Curtiss, of Onalaska, and Joshua L. Greene, of Holmen; her maternal grandfather, Stanley Palubicki, of Winona; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Marjorie Palubicki.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 4, at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in West Salem, with Rev. Michael Hylton officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
The Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of LaCrosse is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family wishes to thank all who assisted them during their time of need.

Damians, Ruth Marie
Ruth Marie Damians, 96, died Monday, May 26, 2003, at Sauer Memorial Home, Winona.
Ruth was born April 20, 1907, in Winona, to Hugo and Rose Smocke Witt.
She graduated with a B.S. degree from Winona State University in 1942. She was an elementary teacher, living in Pontiac, Mich., and France, returning to Winona in 1970. She married Leon B. Leece in 1942, in Everett, Wash. He died in 1965. She married Henri Damians on December 31, 1966, in Lyons, France. He died August 12, 1989.
Ruth was a member of the Watkins Home Auxiliary, the Westfield Golf Club, the Winona Retired Teachers Association, and the Winona County Humane Society.
She is survived by cousins.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at the Norton Chapel of Central United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday after 9 a.m. at the Norton Chapel.
Martin-Myhre Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
