Ratajczyk, Delpha

Delpha Ratajczyk, 82, of 157 West Third St., died Tuesday, November 27, 2001 at her home.

Delpha was born June 6, 1919 in Blair, Wis., to Theodore and Olga (Hanson) Austin.She graduated from Blair High School. On July 20, 1940 she married Lambert John Ratajczyk in Winona. He died November 10, 1993.

She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the Red Cross, and at the Catharine Allison Library at Community Memorial Hospital.

She was formerly employed at the College of Saint Teresa and was a member of Central Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her sons, Rodney (Edith) Ratajczyk of Rochester, Minn., Terry (Loretta) Ratajczyk of Minneapolis, Minn., Walken (Bernadette Mahfood) Ratajczyk of Winona, Richard (Pam) Ratajczyk of Mesa, Ariz., and Jeffrey (Karen) Ratajczyk of Stewartville, Minn.; a daughter, Nancy (Eric) Hieber of Penngrove, Cal.; seventeen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred Stutlien of Blair, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son at birth, two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were Friday, November 30, at Central Lutheran Church with Rev. Duane O. Salness officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Valley cemetery, Winona.

Casketbearers were her grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the Winona Area Hospice or Central Lutheran Church.

Funeral arrangements were completed by Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Black, Gaylon D.

Gaylon D. Black, 42, died Monday, November 26, 2001 at his home in Winona.

He was born July 27, 1959 in Mankato, Minn., to Robert and Bernita Daby.

He graduated from Mankato East High School in 1977 where he was awarded the Outstanding Athlete Award that year. He attended Winona State University and had been a mail carrier in Winona for the last 15 years. Gaylon also served in the U.S. Army from 1977-80. He was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church in Winona.

Survivors include his fiancee, Karen Ketchum; mother, Bernita Rolf of Mankato; four brothers, Robert (Pam) Black of Owatonna, Minn., Lennie Black of Mankato, Minn., Mark Rolf of Cleveland, Minn., and Mike Rolf of the Twin Cities; three sisters, Barbara (Russell) Hansen of Mankato, Melissa (Bruce) Rolf-Watt of Apple Valley, Minn., and Linda Rolf of the Twin Cities; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Rich Maxwell.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, Robert Black, an infant son, John Robert Black, and his stepfather, Jack Rolf.

Funeral services were Saturday, December 1, at Faith Assembly of God Church in Winona. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery.

Hoff Funeral Homes - Burke Winona Chapel assisted with the arrangements.

Molland, Milfred J.

Milfred J. Molland, 89, Gilmanton, Wis., died Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at his home.

Memorial services were held Saturday, December 1, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gilmanton with Rev. Dennis Voss officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Boyer, Douglas Delos

Douglas Delos Boyer, M.D., of Winona, died Monday, November 26, 2001, after a nine month battle with kidney cancer.

Douglas was highly respected throughout his 20-year service as a general surgeon for the Winona community. As a doctor, he treated patients as individuals with respect and empathy. His colleagues held him in high esteem and affection for his integrity and dedication.

Douglas was born in Minneapolis in 1948. He was a graduate of University HS, Los Angeles and the University of California-Los Angeles. He graduated from UCLA Medical School with Alpha Omega Alpha honors in 1975, and completed an Internship and Residence in General Surgery at the University of California- San Diego in 1981. He was Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery.

In 1981, Douglas married Roberta Bumann and moved to Winona, where he began his medical career at the Winona Clinic. During his career he served as Medical Director and President of the Board of Directors for the Winona Clinic, and Chief of Surgery at Winona Community Memorial Hospital.

Douglas was a member of Winona County Medical Society, Minnesota Surgical Society, and Alpha Omega Alpha.

An avid and skilled outdoorsman, he shared his love for the outdoors with his family and friends. Whether paddling the backwaters of the Mississippi, biking Witoka hill, skiing St. Mary's trails, hunting at the Wyoming "Hilton, " or restoring prairie in his backyard, Doug showed us how to love life.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta; his two children, Leah and Joshua; his parents, Paul and Lyda Boyer; and his two sisters, Gail Boyer Hayes and Alexandra Rumble.

The family is grateful to his patients, his colleagues, and the community for allowing Doug to be the kind of doctor he wanted to be.

Friends are invited to join the family for a memorial at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Lourdes Hall, 457 Gould St., with a reception to follow.

Roach, Daniel "Ollow" Jay

Daniel "Ollow" Jay Roach, 35, of Winona, died Thursday, November 29, 2001 at Lake Winona Manor.

Daniel was born December 8, 1965 in Winona, to Wesley J. and Lorraine M. (Simon) Roach. He married Lauri Hengel. They were later divorced.

He attended Winona schools and S.E. Technical College in Design and Drafting. He served in the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Hepburn and Aircraft Carrier Kittyhawk.

He will be sadly missed for his great sense of humor.

He is survived by his son, Noah Roach of Winona; his daughter, Courtney Roach of Mawston, Wis.; his mother, Lorraine (Simon) Schultz and stepfather, Daniel Schultz of Lewiston, Minn.; two sisters, Tami (Dave) Losinski of Trempealeau, Wis., and Sheril Frame and significant other, Mike Wieczorek of Minnesota City, Minn.; two half-sisters, Crystal (Andrew) Mazur of Huntley, Ill., and Allison (Mark) Green of Kenosha, Wis.; two half-brothers, Richard (Rebecca) Evens of Little Fork, Minn., and Travis (Rebecca) Roach of St. Cloud, Minn.; step-brothers, Anthony Schultz of Minneapolis, Minn., Mark (Duwn) Schultz of Owatonna, Minn., Daniel Schultz of Farmington, Minn., and Timothy (Stacy) Schultz of Rogers, Minn.; a step-sister, Sandi (Craig) Pahlen of Lakeville, Minn.; grandparents, John and Eleanor Roach of Winona; a niece and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Roach, a sister, Julie Styx, grandparents, Mabel and Lester Simon, half-brother, Scott Mundt, and step-uncles and aunts.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, with Pastor R. Sonny Misar of the Living Light Church, and Robert Cloeter officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran cemetery, Wilson, Minn. Friends may call Sunday, December 2, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Funeral arrangements are being completed by Fawcett-Junker Funeral Homer and Cremation Services.

Schneider, Teresa Elizabeth

Teresa Elizabeth Schneider, 92, of 413 East Fourth St., died Saturday, December 23, 2000 at her home.

She was born November 21, 1908, in Minneiska, Minn., to Henry and Elizabeth (Daniels) Drussell. She married Clarence W. Schneider on June 12, 1929 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Winona.

She was a homemaker and worked at the Winona Knitting Mills for 26 years.

Teresa was a loving daughter, wife, mother, aunt and grandma. She was deeply loved and will be missed by all. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and caring for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Bob Brink, nine brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce (John) Boyle; grandchildren, Robert and James Brink, Linda Boyle, Kathy (Dan) Kujak, John David (Jody) Boyle, and Donna (Scott) Carlson; six great-grandchildren, Tom and Tina Brink, Adam and Amber Kujak, and Katy and Kelly Carlson, all of Winona; a sister, Rose Fiedler of Big Lake, Alaska; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Drussell and Marguirite Drussell; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, December 26, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, with Rev. John M. Sauer officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery.

Casketbearers were Teresa's grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Martin-Myhre Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.

Morrison, Avenelle L. "Babe"

Avenelle L. "Babe" Morrison, 101, formerly 367 East Mark St., died Sunday, December 24, 2000 at the Watkins Home.

She was born September 20, 1899 in Winona to William J. and Christine (Snyder) Morrison.

Previous to her retirement, she was employed at Furs by Francis for 25 years.

She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Parish and the Polish Museum.

Survivors include a niece, Jeanne (Paul) Skattum of Rochester, Minn.; and a nephew, David (Judy) Morrison of Winona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Helen and a brother, David.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 27 at St. John Nepomucene Church with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at the church.
