Sievers, Bernice E.
Bernice E. "Bunny" Sievers, age 89, of Winona, died on Saturday, February 9, 2002 at Sauer Memorial Home, Winona.
Bernice Elsie was born on November 5, 1912 in Chicago, IL to Frank and Elsie (Mickley) Petry.
On August 19, 1939, she married
Eldred D. "Cy" Sievers in Oak Park, IL. They also lived in Western Springs, IL before moving to Winona in 1945. Cy died on February 3, 2000 in Winona.
She attended high school in Chicago and graduated from the Chicago Business College. In Chicago she was employed as a private secretary for Mr. William Wrigley of the Wrigley Gum Co. and also as subscription supervisor for "Time" and "Life" magazines at their initial publication start up. In Winona, she was formerly employed by Montgomery Ward.
She was a member of: First Congregational Church of Winona, the church circle, past president of Women's Union of First Congregational Church, the Madison School PTA, Toast Mistresses, past president of YWCA, Order of Eastern Star, and was active in Girl Scouts.
Bernice is survived by a son William (Patti Stinson) Sievers of Buffalo City, WI; two daughters Claudia Archer of Edina, MN and Carolyn (Kelly) McGuire of Marinette, WI; two grandchildren Alisha and Graham Sievers and a brother-in-law Joseph Giordano of Dolton, IL; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cy, an infant daughter Gloria Elsie Sievers, a sister Theresa Giordano and a step-brother Ronald Robinson.
Memorial services were Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at 11:00 AM at First Congregational Church, Winona with Rev. Rick King, officiating. Inurnment was in Woodlawn cemetery, Winona.
Honorary pallbearers were William Sievers, Graham Sievers, J. Kelly McGuire, Joseph Giordano, Wilbur Polachek and Stanley Hammer.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to First Congregational Church, Winona.
Funeral arrangements were completed by the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Winona.
Michalowski, Donald John
Donald John Michalowski, died October 25, 2001 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He was born in Winona on September 19, 1949.
He retired from Ge Medical Systems.
Survivors include sons, Ronald, Daniel and John Michalowski; daughters, Jamie Michalowski and Jennifer Buck; and grandchildren, Noelle and Devin Buck.
Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Winona on February 16 at 11 a.m.
A memorial reception will be held on February 24 at AMF West Bowling Center 7, Sixth and Oklahoma, Milwaukee, Wis. Please contact the family for details.

Holzer, Lori Lynn
Lori Lynn Holzer, 31, of St. Charles, Minn., died Sunday, February 10, 2002 of injuries received in a car-bus accident on Highway 14 east of Utica, Minn.
Lori was born July 25, 1970 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri to Arvin and Becky (Scherger) Holtegaard. She graduated from Dover-Eyota High School in 1988 and trained as medical secretary at Rochester Vo-Tech. She and Mike Holzer were married
October 12, 1991 at Elgin and have made their home in St. Charles. Lori worked as a legal secretary for Tom Canan of Rochester.
Lori loved the outdoors and liked to camp, swim, boat, and fish and was a NASCAR fan.
Survivors include her husband, Mike; daughter, Ashley; parents, Arvin and Becky Holtegaard of Dover, Minn.; a sister, Amber Holtegaard of Dover; paternal grandparents, Art and Georgia Holtegaard of St. Charles; in-laws, Curt and Geraldine Holzer of St. Charles; and Mike's paternal grandmother, Liz Holzer of St. Charles.
Her maternal grandparents, Mike's maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Rev. James Callahan officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may call one hour before services at the church.

Esther Giese, 91, of Pigeon Falls, Wis., died Sunday, February 10, 2002 in Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, Wis.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, February 15, at Pigeon Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Dale Moe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Donald E. Mercer, 63, of Chatfield, Minn., died Sunday, February 10, 2002, a mile east of Utica, Minn.
Don was born July 27, 1938 in Douglas, Minn. He married
Carol (Bloomquist). They had two children.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 14, at Chatfield Lutheran Church. Spring burial will be in the Chatfield cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Riley Funeral Home, and from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Kelly J. Mercer, 33, of St. Charles, Minn., died Sunday, February 10, 2002, as the result of an automobile accident near Utica, Minn.
Kelly was born February 10, 1969 in Rochester, Minn. He married
Jodi Christopherson. They had three children.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 14, at Chatfield Lutheran Church. Spring burial will be in the Chatfield cemetery.

Jodi M. Mercer, 31, of St. Charles, Minn., died Sunday, February 10, 2002, as the result of an automobile accident near Utica, Minn.
Jodi Christopherson was born April 22, 1970 Rochester, Minn. She married
Kelly Mercer. They had three children.

Kinzie, Frank James, Jr.
Frank James Kinzie, Jr., age 77, of 133 Valley Trail Drive, Winona, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at St. Anne Hospice, Winona.
Frank was born in Winona on February 25, 1924, the son of Frank James, Sr. and Estella (Hurley) Kinzie. On February 14, 1953 he married
Mary Jean Fenster in York, Neb.
Frank graduated from Winona Senior High School and from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-1945. He was wounded and captured by the Germans, and spent four months in a POW hospital prior to the end of the war. During his service years he was awarded the Purple Heart (the medal for being wounded in action), and the combat infantryman badge for exemplary conduct in action.
He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, Neb. as a clerk in the engineering department before his army induction at Fort Snelling on June 13, 1943.
Frank served as Collection Manager and Assistant Credit Manager at Watkins Products, Inc. for over 20 years, and as Clerk of the Winona District Court for ten years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, serving on its Finance Council for the last several years. He was also a member of the American Legion, Leon J. Wetzel Post No. 9, and of Voiture 40 & 8. He served as Gambling Chairman for the 40 & 8 for the past three years and helped with the bingo games for over 40 years. He was also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. Frank was a member of Winona Lodge 327, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and of Westfield Golf Club.
Frank is survived by his wife, Jean; a daughter, Pamela of Calistoga, Cal.; sons, Frank III (and Suzanne) Kinzie of Beverly, Mass. and Kevin (and Karen) Kinzie of Excelsior, Minn.; four grandchildren, Jennifer and Patrick Kinzie of Excelsior, and Michelle and Frank IV of Beverly; a brother-in-law, Robert Norton of Winona; a sister-in-law, Beverly Kinzie of Milwaukee, Wis.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, William, Harold and Kenneth, and sisters, Dorothy Grathen, Denise Myska and Jeanne Norton.
A Memorial Mass was held Friday, July 27 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart with Rev. John M. Sauer celebrating the Mass and Rev. G.H. Huggenvik participating in the service. Burial of the cremains was in Woodlawn cemetery with military burial honors conducted by the American Legion Post No. 9.
Honorary pallbearers were Vic Bertel, Richard Baylon, Jack Taylor, Bill Colclough, Mike DeBolt and Larry Korda.
Memorials may be directed to Winona Area Hospice, 175 E. 7th St., Winona or St. Anne Hospice, 1347 W. Broadway, Winona.

Haugland, Leva Amalia
Leva Amalia Haugland, 87, Spring Grove, Minn., died Monday, July 23, 2001 at Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove.
Funeral services were Thursday, July 26 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove with Rev. Jim Arends officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
