Jeanette Dethmers, 74, of Pipestone, Minn., died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at Pipestone County Medical Center.
Services were Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, Holland, Minn., with interment in Holland cemetery.
Jeanette Brouwer was born July 18, 1929, near Inwood, the daughter of Arie and Gertrude (Brands) Brouwer. She grew up and attended school in Inwood until the family moved to a farm near Chandler, Minn., in 1936 and to the Edgerton, Minn., area in 1940.
On Aug. 31, 1950, she married
Harris Dethmers in Edgerton. They farmed near Holland.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, John of Holland and Dean of Pipestone; four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Alvira) Stempges and Mrs. David (Evelyn) Wurscher, both of Sioux Falls, S.D., Mrs. Arvid (Dianne) Otkin of Lake Benton, Minn., and Mrs. Leonard (Jacqueline) Hubner of Pipestone; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and four brothers, Jasper of Demotte, Ind., Louis of Tyler, Minn., Bert of Edgerton and Merle of Michigan.
Marvin Altena, 76
Pipestone, Minn.

Marvin "Mike" Altena, 76, of Pipestone, Minn., died at his home Thursday, March 25, 2004.
Services were Monday at Christian Reformed Church, Pipestone, with interment in New Woodlawn cemetery.
Mr. Altena was born Feb. 16, 1928, in Ireton, the son of Henry and Effie (Broek) Altena. He grew up and attended country school near Alvord.
On Sept. 7, 1951, he married
Marian Postma in Rock Valley. They farmed near Rock Valley five years, then farmed near Larchwood one year. In 1958, they moved to a farm near Pipestone. They sold that farm Dec. 13, 1989. In April 2000, they moved into Pipestone.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Harlan of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Rodney of Pipestone; two daughters, Mrs. Chris (Clare) Veldhuizen of Edgerton, Minn., and Mrs. Richard (Evonne) Kas of Woodstock, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; three brothers, Sam of George, Dick of Ireton and Louis of Rock Valley, and two sisters, Mrs. James (Julia) Blankespoor of Chicago, Ill., and Marlene TeSlaa of Rock Valley.
Grace Gronewold, 98
Ellsworth, Minn.

Grace Gronewold, 98, of Ellsworth, Minn., died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Parkview Manor Nursing Home, Ellsworth.
Services were Wednesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Worthington, Minn., with interment in Worthington cemetery.
Grace Donker was born June 19, 1905, in George, the daughter of John and Angeline (Ackerman) Donker. She grew up and attended school near George.
On June 4, 1921, she married
Peter Gronewold in Sibley. They farmed near Reading and Magnolia, Minn., before moving to Adrian, Minn. In 1937, they moved to Worthington where she was a cook at General Hospital and Clark's Cafe. She then worked at Campbell Soup Co. 25 years.
Her husband died in 1963.
Survivors include one son, Peter of Ellsworth, 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Margie Prins, 63
Luverne, Minn.

Margie Prins, 63, of Adrian, Minn., died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at Luverne (Minn.) Community Hospital.
Services were Friday at United Methodist Church, Adrian, with interment in Adrian cemetery.
Survivors include one brother, Philip Prins of George, and two sisters.
Lloyd Morgan, 89
Luverne, Minn.

Lloyd Morgan, 89, of Luverne, Minn., died Friday, June 4, 2004, at Mary Jane Brown Home.
Services were Wednesday at the Methodist Church, Lanesboro, Minn.
Survivors include four daughters including Mrs. Dixon (Nancy) Nagel of Rock Rapids, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren.
Gerrit Vlastuin
Gerrit Vlastuin, 78, of Luverne, Minn., died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at Avera mcKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Funeral mass was Monday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Luverne, with interment in St. Catherine's Catholic cemetery.
Mr. Vlastuin was born June 20, 1924, at Doon, the son of John and Elizabeth (Grootheest) Vlastuin. He attended school in Doon and farmed until entering the army in 1945. He served in the Philippines and Japan until 1947.
On April 10, 1950, he married
Ramona Simons at Larchwood. They farmed in the Doon-Alvord area until 1965 when they moved to a farm near Beaver Creek, Minn. They retired in 1988 and moved to Luverne.
He served on the Beaver Creek Elevator board several years and was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Leland of Harrisburg, S.D.; two daughters, Mrs. Chuck (Linda) Wattier of Eagle River, Ark., and Mrs. Gene (Lorae) Lodes of Crooks, S.D.; six grandchildren; two brothers, Fred of Rock Valley and Elmer of Jenison, Mich., and three sisters, Henrietta DeBruin and Mrs. John (Till) Blom, both of Rock Valley, and Mrs. John (Jeanette) Van Surksum of Doon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Henry.
Minerva Bowron
Minerva (Aanenson) Bowron, 87, of Hills, Minn., died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Tuff Memorial Home, Hills.
Memorial services were Oct. 5 in United Methodist Church, Luverne, Minn., with inurnment in Maplewood cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, one son, one daughter, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two brothers and one sister, Mavis Porter of Rock Rapids.
Mary Tangeman
Mary Tangeman, 77, of Verndale, Minn., died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at Fairview-University Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minn.
Services were Saturday at St. Frederick's Catholic Church, Verndale, with interment in the church cemetery.
Mary Cordie was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Big Stone City, S.D. She graduated from Big Stone City High School in 1944. She worked at Big Stone Headlight and Spirit Lake Beacon before becoming a Linotype operator at the Lyon County Reporter in August 1949.
She married
Don Tangeman in Rock Rapids. They moved to Albert Lea, Minn., in August 1956 and to Hackensack in June 1967 where they operated a commercial printing plant. On Sept. 1, 1970, they purchased The Verndale Sun.
Her husband died March 9, 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Charles and Richard; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; three sisters and one brother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter and one sister.
