LeRoy Pederson
LeRoy (Raymond) Pederson, 79, Fergus Falls died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at Broen Memorial Home of Fergus Falls.
He was born May 24, 1924, to Henry S. and Nettie (Forde) Pederson of Fergus Falls. He was baptized and confirmed at First English Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. He grew up and received his education in Fergus Falls, and after his schooling he worked on the family farm.
He married
Corinne Vore on March 26, 1944, in First English Lutheran Church of Fergus Falls, and the couple lived on the farm in rural Fergus Falls. He continued farming until 1965, at which time he went to work for the Fergus Bus Company until his retirement.
He was an accomplished carpenter and enjoyed collecting coins, coaster sets, making and redoing lamps and landscaping. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Corinne; three daughters: Carol (Russ) Fiskum, Vining, and Linda (Bill) Buckingham and Cathleen "Cay" (Art) Stringer, both of Fergus Falls; three sons: Larry (Kathy) Pederson, Clear Lake, Wis., Curtis (Marlene) Pederson and Lester Pederson, both of Fergus Falls; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Gerlach, Pelican Rapids, and Phyllis (Chuck) Green of Detroit Lakes; and two brothers, Donald E. (Helen) Pederson and Roger A. Pederson, both of Fergus Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry S. and Nettie Pederson; one grandson, Geoffrey Rasmusson; and one great-grandson, Ashton Finamor.
Visitation: Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church of Fergus Falls

Marvil Stangvik
Marvil C. Stangvik, 95, Fergus Falls, died April 9, 2004, at Broen Memorial Home of Fergus Falls. Funeral arrangements are pending with the Olson Funeral Home of Fergus Falls.
Frances Grage
Frances (Fran) E. Grage, 79, Fridley, Minn., died March 30, 2004, at North Memorial Hospital of Minneapolis.
She was born July 5, 1924, in Vining, Minn., to Sankey and Alma Peterson. She attended school at Vining and graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1942. She seldom missed a reunion with her classmates through the years.
On Dec. 20, 1944, Fran and Armond Grage, both of Fergus Falls, were married
in Hattisburg, Miss., where the groom was stationed at that time. While Armond completed his years of service in the Armed Forces, Fran worked at Honeywell of Minneapolis. They have lived in their home in Fridley, Minn., for many years.
She enjoyed work as a tax preparer and realtor and also enjoyed cooking for her family, reading, traveling and working crossword puzzles. She kept in close contact with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren even when her health made it difficult to leave her home.
She is survived by her husband, Armond; son, James (Teresa) of Wash.; daughters, Kathryn (Bob) Leners, Minneapolis, and Diane Crandell, Calif.; 5 grandchildren: Annie, Amanda, Brent, Julie and Tom; and 5 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Lucille Eckhardt, Fergus Falls, Marge Smith (Virgil), Dent, and Arlene Carlson of Plymouth; 2 sisters-in law, Marcie Peterson, Fergus Falls, and Karen Peterson of Battle Lake; and also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Alice and Corinne Wentzel; and brothers, Milton and Arthur Peterson.
Service: Friday, April 2, at First Lutheran Church, Columbia Heights, Minn., where she had been a member for many years
Burial: Fort Snelling National cemetery.
Muriel Moore
Muriel Moore, 91, Seattle, Wash., formerly of Ottertail Lake, died April 3, 2004, in Seattle. Memorial services will be Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at 11:30 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church, Maine, Minn., with Rev. Paul Folsom officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, is in charge of arrangements.
Edna Hagen
Edna Hagen, 90, Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, in Fergus Falls.
She was born Sept. 15, 1913, to Felix and Cora (Glende) Vennerstrom of Battle Lake. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church of Battle Lake. She graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1931 and then attended Moorhead Teachers' College.
Her first school was Country School District No. 50 at Parkers Prairie. Then she taught at Parkers Prairie Public School. She later began teaching in Wadena, and married
Vernon Dierich on June 4, 1944. They then moved to rural Brandon, Minn., and farmed for eight years. After that they moved to Fergus Falls, where she resumed teaching and taught for many years. They both retired and sold their home at Fergus Falls and moved to their home on Silver Lake near Battle Lake. They spent their winters in Texas for many years. Vernon died Aug. 15, 1985.
On Nov. 20, 1986, she married
Gordon Hagen in Edinburgh, Tex. Gordon died Jan. 31, 1998. Since then she has been in nursing homes in Battle Lake and Fergus Falls. Presently, she was living in an adult foster home.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and First Lutheran Church of Battle Lake. She enjoyed hardanger, rosemaling, traveling to Texas during the winter and going to the Vennerstrom Family Reunions. She was always concerned about others and not herself.
She is survived by a sister, Eunice (Walter) Leerssen of Eugene, Ore.; a sister-in-law, Clarice Vennerstrom of St. Augustine, Fla.; two nephews; and several grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Vernon Dierich, and Gordon Hagen; her parents, Felix and Cora Vennerstrom; and one brother, Bud Vennerstrom.
Visitation: Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at funeral home of Fergus Falls and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m., Monday at First Lutheran Church of Battle Lake

Florence Hovland
Florence Hovland, 68, Dalton, died April 7, 2004, at Innovis Hospital of Fargo.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, at Zion-Sarpsborg Free Lutheran Church, Dalton, with Rev. Steve Carlson officiating.
Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran cemetery of Dalton. Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, is in charge of arrangements.
Lillian Saurer
Lillian Emma Saurer, 83, Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at St. Cloud Hospital of St. Cloud.
She was born Jan. 26, 1921, in Henning, Minn., to John and Ida (Babe) Husfeldt. She grew up and attended school in Henning.
On July 17, 1943, she married
Victor Roman Saurer in Fergus Falls. The couple farmed on different farms around the Fergus Falls, Elizabeth and Henning areas. In 1955, they moved to Big Falls, Minn., where they resided until 1968, then moved to Clitherall. In 1981, they moved to Fergus Falls. After Victor's death in 1981, Lillian continued to live in the family home until 1989, when she became a resident at Riverbend Apartments in Fergus Falls.
She loved to spend time with her family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the great joy of her life. She enjoyed gardening, canning and taking care of her flowers. Her favorite past-time was playing cards and bingo with her friends at Riverbend Apartments.
She is survived by her children: Carol Hanson, Fergus Falls, Kenneth (Sue) Saurer, Clitherall, Betty (Al) Woida, Eagle Bend, Russell Saurer, Perham, (Kathy of Otter Tail), Harland (Alicia) Saurer, Temecula, Calif., Eunice (George) Woida, Urbank, Wesley Saurer, Perham, Melvin (Judy Evans) Saurer, Clarissa, and Loraine (Steven) Martineau of Elbow Lake; one daughter-in-law, K Saurer of Cheyenne, Wyo.; 32 grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 21 great-step-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Ella Hagen of Otter Tail, and a sister-in-law, Enda Husfeldt of Henning.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ida Husfeldt; husband, Victor Saurer who died in 1981; son, Rudolph Saurer, who died in 2002; son-in-law, LeRoy A. Hanson, who died in 2001; great-grandson, Travis Warren; five sisters; and three brothers.
Visitation: Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. public prayer service at Olson Funeral Home, and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church

James Bailey
James Bailey, 76, of Battle Lake died Sunday, April 11, 2004, at Lake Region Hospital.
He was born July 5, 1927, in Fergus Falls, to Joyce and Mildred (Carter) Bailey. He graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1945 and then served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On Aug. 24, 1952, he married
Bette Ann Ellsworth in Rugby, N.D. They moved to Battle Lake in 1965. He was employed with Otter Tail Power Company as a Service Rep for 41 years in Rugby and then Battle Lake. He retired on July 31, 1989.
He was an active member of the Battle Lake Lions Club, where he served at many levels, including District Governor from 1991 to 92. He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
He enjoyed traveling and was an outdoors man who liked hunting and camping with his family. He also loved to garden.
He is survived by his wife, Bette; sons, Steve (Cindy) Bailey and Bill (Vickie) Bailey, both of Battle Lake, and Kurt (Linda) Bailey of Moorhead; five grandchildren: Matt Bailey of Mitchell, S.D., Jeremy and Joshua Bailey of Moorhead and Carter and Amber Bailey of Battle Lake; and a sister, Marguerite Schneider of Breckenridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Vanderwerff.
