The service will be Friday, June 11, at 4 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home Chapel of Pelican Rapids with Deacon Joe Hilber officiating. Burial will be Saturday, June 12, at11 a.m. at St. Leonard's Catholic cemetery of Pelican Rapids.

John P. Hardenberg, 82, Fergus Falls, died June 11, 2004, at Lake Region Hospital. Funeral arrangements are pending with the Olson Funeral Home of Fergus Falls.
Phyllis Hummel
Phyllis Hummel, 69, Elbow Lake, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at ELEAH Medical Center of Elbow Lake.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence G. Hummel of Elbow Lake; three children: Val (Pat) Schultz, Fergus Falls, Pam Nord, Elbow Lake, and Larry (Jill) Hummel of Oak Harbor, OH; grandchildren, Ryan (Jessie) Schultz, Moorhead, Jamie and Derek Schultz, Fergus Falls, Nicole and Jeremy Olson, Elbow Lake, and Miranda Hummel and Jordan Torres of Oak Harbor, OH; and one great-granddaughter, Emmalee Schultz of Moorhead.

Dorothy Svare
Dorothy Elaine Svare, 79, Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at Lake Region Hospital and surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Fergus Falls, to Lewis and Elsie (Grewe) Hauge. On Nov. 26, 1944, she married
Hubert Svare at the Svare farm of rural Fergus Falls. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Fergus. In 1960, they purchased a farm near Swan Lake. They have lived in their present home north west of Fergus Falls since 1973.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to spoil the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Hubert; two sons, Allen (Judy) Svare of rural Erhard, and Wayne (Bonnie) Svare of rural Fergus Falls; five grandchildren: Marty (Maria) Svare of Bemidji, Dawn (Barry) Schleske, Tammy (Gene) Smith, Ron Svare and Adam Svare all of Fergus Falls; five great-grandchildren: Matthew, Nicole, Tyler, Ashley and Cody; one sister, Eunice Woodard of Fergus Falls; and one brother, Gordon (Carole) Hauge of Fergus Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Robert and Elton Hauge.
Visitation: Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home with a public prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.

John Hardenberg
John P. Hardenberg, 82, Fergus Falls, died Friday, June 11, 2004, at Lake Region Hospital.
He was born Dec. 30, 1921, in Fergus Falls, the youngest of three children, to John and Emma (Schmidt) Hardenberg. He grew up in Fergus Falls and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1941.
On Nov. 30, 1946, he married
Margaret "Peggy" Wahl. After their marriage, the couple lived in Friberg Township, then Fergus Falls. In 1969, they moved to Dalton and in 1990, moved back to Fergus Falls. He worked on the Alaskan Highway, drove taxi for a time, was a caretaker at Minnesota Motors, worked at The Daily Journal, and then started working at the City Park Department, until retiring in April of 1987.
He was a member of Our Savior's Ten Mile Lake Lutheran Church. He enjoyed traveling and taking various tours. One of his ventures was retracing his steps on the Alaskan Highway. He loved to play bingo, and liked wood-working. John enjoyed spending time with his friends, family, and especially his granddaughters, Angie and Sara.
He is survived by his daughter, Betty (Sid) Nelson of Dalton; son, Paul (Linda Osborn) Hardenberg of Garrison, Minn.; grandchildren, Angela Nelson of Fergus Falls, Sara (Darren) Hage of rural Fergus Falls, and Alex and Anna Hardenberg of Garrison; step-granddaughters, Lynnette (Jeff Podergois) Nelson of Chaska, Lori (Dean) Thorsen of Fergus Falls; and great-grandchildren, Jessica and Mitchell Thorsen of Fergus Falls, and Race and Dane Nelson of Chaska. Also surviving are two sisters, Elsie Knudson of Fergus Falls, and Frieda Lyons of San Leonardo, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy, who died in 1994, and one son, Dale, who died in 1972.

Lorraine Eide
Marjorie "Lorraine" Eide, 85, of Fergus Falls died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at the Broen Memorial Home of Fergus Falls.
She was born Feb. 6, 1919, on the family farm in rural Pelican Rapids, Minn., to Alfred and Jorgine (Hanson) Svare. She grew up in Pelican Rapids and graduated from high school in 1936.
On Oct. 24, 1942, she married
Howard Eide at the Bagstevold Lutheran Church of Erhard. After their marriage, the couple resided in rural Carlisle at the Eide family farm, where they were active in their community. In June of 2001, after Howard's death, Lorraine moved to the Broen Memorial Home of Fergus Falls.
Lorraine was a devoted, nurturing and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a meticulous homemaker. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls and former of member Hedemarken Homemakers and circle.
She is survived by two sons, Nathan (Linda) Eide of Fergus Falls, and Tom (Trudy) Eide of Fargo; one daughter, Leah (Bill) Wilkinson of Bloomington, Ind.; eight grandchildren: Ginger (Randy) Fletcher of Evansville and Joe Wilkinson of Chicago., Dana Wilkinson of Springfield, Ohio, Karissa and Margo Eide of San Diego, Calif., Britta and Erik Eide and Amanda Thomas, all of Fargo; four great-grandchildren: Savannah Eide of Detroit Lakes, Saffron, Camilla, and Hewett Fletcher of Evansville; and her siblings, Alfreda (Edwin) Eide, of Fergus Falls, Cora Loken of Fergus Falls, Vince (Gen) Svare of Ada, Lenore (Clarence) Haug of Ada, and Florence (Quentin) Weberg of Hopkins. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, who died in 2001; a son, Robbie, who died in 1972; grandson, Corey, who died in 1996; infant brother, Lawrence; brother, Harold; three sisters, Edna Kieland, Adeline Sethre, and Mildred Sethre.
Visitation: Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.

Sharon Backman
Sharon L. Backman 66, of Crosby, Minn., formally of Elbow Lake, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, in the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center of Crosby. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 11, at Immanuel cemetery of Barrett, Minn., with Rev. Scott Johnson officiating.
She was born on June 7th, 1937, in Elbow Lake to NJ and Matilda (Johnson) Backman.
She is survived by two brothers, Harold Backman of Babbitt, Minn., and Harvey (Elsie) Backman of Billings, Mont.; two sisters, Evelyn Lambert of Virginia, Minn., and Betty (Jerry) Hoppe of Minnetonka; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant daughters, and one brother, Mervin Backman.
Earl Bergerud
Earl Sanford Bergerud, 84, died June 5, 2004.
He was born Aug. 23, 1919, to Sam and Ella Bergerud on a farm near Fergus Falls. Soon after his graduation from high school he joined the United States Army. While attending Officer Training School, he married
June Patricia McCreery on Sept. 21, 1942. Assigned to the Pacific Theater of Operations, Earl served in New Guinea and on Luzon, returning to the United States in January 1946.
Taking advantage of the GI Bill Earl attended the University of Minnesota where he received a Bachelors Degree and later a Masters. During undergraduate studies Earl and June had sons, Earl Jr. (1946), Eric (1948) and David Lee (1949). After graduation Earl took a job with the University of Minnesota Agricultural Extension. He worked in Park Rapids and Cambridge before coming to the Saint Paul Campus. In 1980 he retired as Professor Emeritus.
He is survived by brother, Charles; sisters, Carol and Mary; sons, Earl Jr., Eric (Bonnie), David (Donna); grandchildren, Lisa and David Lee; and close friend, Virginia Olson.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, June, and brothers, Vernon and Kenneth.
Walter McGuire
Rev. Walter Joseph McGuire, 68, of Fergus Falls died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.
He was born Nov. 18, 1935, in Chicago, Ill., to Robert and Catherine (Moran) McGuire. He enlisted and served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, serving in Korea.
In 1957, he married
Judith Ann Gibisch of Chicago. Soon after the couple married
, he started his own tuckpointing and caulking businesses; W.J. McGuire and Sons Inc., and Metzger-McGuire Co. in Northbrook, Ill., serving the greater Chicago area.
In 1969 Walter and Judy met the Lord Jesus through the Catholic Charismatic renewal. Following the call of God on his life, he moved his family to Fergus Falls in 1974. He attended Lutheran Brethren Seminary in Fergus Falls from 1975 to 1978. Upon completion of seminary training, he accepted the call to pastor Community Bible Church in Fergus Falls, where he continued to serve for 22 years. After retirement he was ordained by the Assemblies of God in 2002. He began interim pastoring and served churches in Floodwood, Perham, Eagle Bend and most recently, Barnesville. His love for Jesus and faithfulness to God and His Word were evident to all.
He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, had a great love for fishing and thought that Fergus Falls was "God's best kept secret!"
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy of Fergus Falls; two sons, Pastor Brian (Bonnie) McGuire of Grand Rapids and Matthew (Tasha) McGuire of Fergus Falls; one daughter, Mary (Steve) Bangs of Fergus Falls; 16 grandchildren; two brothers, Edwin McGuire of Wonder Lake, Ill., Kevin McClure of Roseville and two sisters, Patricia Evans of Wheaton, Ill., and Kathleen Davis of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Roberta Sander.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church
