Phyllis T. Fitzpatrick
Phyllis T. Fitzpatrick, 77, of Minneapolis died Sunday, June 17, 2001, in the N.C. Little Hospice, Minneapolis.
Phyllis was born Feb. 5, 1924, in Duluth to parents Arne Abelson and Helen Walker Abelson. She was a graduate of Duluth Central High School. She married John Fitzpatrick of Minneapolis on Sept. 30, 1950, in Duluth. They had lived in Minneapolis since.

Survivors include her husband, John; a son, Dan (Sharie) Fitzpatrick of Onalaska, Wis.; a daughter, Ann (Bob Bowden) Fitzpatrick of Manhattan, Kan.; sons Tom of Minneapolis and Peter (Denise) Fitzpatrick of Richfield, Minn.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Jack Abelson of Sun City, Ariz.; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Gearty Delmore Park Chapel, Wooddale Avenue and Excelsior Boulevard, St. Louis Park, Minn., and 9 until the 10 a.m. funeral Mass Thursday in the Church of the Annunciation, 509 W. 54th St., Minneapolis. Interment in Lakewood cemetery, Minneapolis. Memorials preferred to American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Gearty Delmore Park Chapel, (952) 926-1615.

Andrea Frances (Ralidak) Cunningham
Andrea Frances (Ralidak) Cunningham, 53, of Westby, Wis., died Saturday, June 16, 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne; sons David Andrew of Westby and Bryan (Beth) of Eau Claire, Wis.; her mother, Mary Ellen Ralidak of Duluth; two sisters; two brothers; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service Wednesday in Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. Arrangements by Vosseteig Funeral Home, Westby.

Joel David Parsons
Joel David Parsons, 35, of Minneapolis, formerly of Duluth, died suddenly Tuesday, June 5, 2001, in Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
He was born May 24, 1966, in Duluth. His parents are David and Betty (Borders) Parsons. He graduated from Proctor High School in 1984 and attended the University of Minnesota Duluth. He worked for Marcus Dental in Minneapolis.

Joel was a gifted musician and played in bands in Duluth and Minneapolis, including Blues Allegations, The Kingpins, Aces and Eights, Doug Maynard and Willie Murphy. His talent and friendship will be missed by the musical community.

Joel was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gus and Myrtle Parsons, Joel Borders, and Carl and Anna Palmquist; and a brother, Michael.

Joel is survived by his parents, David and Betty Parsons of Duluth; sisters Debra (Loren) Trolson of Superior and Cyndee Parsons of Duluth; nephews Ted and Thomas Trolson; a niece, Inga Parsons; and special friend, Michelle Greene.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Saturday in Mount of Olives Baptist Church in Duluth. Burial in Union cemetery. Family prefers memorials to the Billy Barnard Jazz Scholarship at UMD, Development Office, 10 University Dr., Duluth, MN 55812.

Friends and fellow musicians are invited to gather at the Twins on Saturday to remember Joel and his life.

Otto Herb Naegeli
Otto Herb Naegeli, 83, passed way Tuesday, June 5, 2001, in Dunedin, Fla., with his family at his side.
He was born in Fergus Falls, Minn. He served in the Army in the Philippines during World War II. He retired as a supervisor with the underground cable division for Minnesota Power & Light in Duluth.

He and his wife moved to Florida in 1977 and enjoyed many active years with bowling, golfing, cribbage and creating stain glass art. He had many friends and was loved by anyone who had the privilege to know him, including the many doctors and nurses who cared for him.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol V. of Dunedin; daughters Ruth (Joe) McGaffey of Duluth, Linda (Al) Kampa of Foley, Minn., and Beth Bair of Prattville, Ala.; sons Herb (Sandy) of Two Harbors and Michael (Jean) of Forest Lake, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lorene D. "Reenie" Olson
Lorene D. "Reenie" Olson, 44, of Jentoft Road, Saginaw, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center surrounded by her family, after a 10-month battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 2, 1956, in Duluth to Loren and Marilyn (Peterson) Oakland. She was a lifelong Twig resident. Reenie was a 1975 graduate of Proctor High School and a graduate of Duluth Academy of Hair Design. She was a former employee of Darlene's Beauty Castle and enjoyed being hairdresser for family and friends. Reenie married Lowell T. Olson on June 25, 1994, in the yard of their home at Twig.

She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Twig and was confirmed there in 1972. She was a foster care parent for many years. She bowled in leagues at Skyline Lanes and Country Lanes for many years and also enjoyed ceramics, crafts and caring for foster children.

Reenie was preceded in death by her first husband, Steven C. Michaelson, in 1990.

Survivors include her husband, Lowell; children Craig Michaelson and Dillon, Sadie, Ellie, Kristina and Heather Olson, all at home; her parents, Loren and Marilyn Oakland of Twig; her sisters and brother, Cindy (Joe) Brown of Duluth, Craig (Rita) Oakland of Twig and Wendy (Jim) Anderson of Saginaw; her grandfather, Alfred Oakland of Twig; a grandson, Derek Matthew Olson; and nieces and nephews, Rocky (Tonya), Carrie, Cody, Amy, Angie, Danielle, Mari, Sami and Carl.
Visitation: 11:30 until the 1 p.m. service Friday in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Twig, the Rev. Marshall Moen officiating. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors, Bell Brothers Chapel, 601 N. 56th Ave. W., 624-5745.

Vancel "Bud" E. Lind
Vancel "Bud" E. Lind, 74, of Duluth died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, in Lakeshore Lutheran Nursing Home.
He was born Nov. 27, 1926, in Alexandria, Minn., to Gustav and Carrie (Hogstrom) Lind. He was an Army veteran of World War II. After serving in the Army, he came to Duluth and married his wife of 52 years, Castella Ellefson, on June 11, 1949. He worked for Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Railway, Bridge and Building Department. He retired in 1980 after 32 years of service.

Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing and family get-togethers. After retiring he took up golf, which he really loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers LeRoy and Jerry; and sisters Isabell and Delores "Dolly."

He is survived by his wife, Castella; sons Ellsworth (Carol), Leonard, Wayne and Keith; a daughter, Adele (Bruce) John; grandchildren Tammy (David) Dailey, Eric, Mark, Nathan (Tracy), Joshua, Sarah, Rebecca, Daniel Lind and Byron John; sisters Carol Jean (John) Hedquist and Geraldine Newbauer; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Noon until the 1 p.m. service Friday in Bell Brothers Chapel. Entombment in Sunrise Memorial Park, Hermantown. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors, Bell Brothers Chapel, 601 N. 56th Ave. W.

Thomas H. Osterholm
Thomas H. Osterholm, 51, of Jackson, Mich., passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy; daughters Nikki (Mike) Famiano and Melanie (Mark) Mullins; a grandchild, Benjamin; his parents, Forrest and Ruth Osterholm; a brother, Jim (Cheech) Osterholm; and sisters Dorothy (Ron) Schliez and Dora (Mark) Lofstrom.
Visitation: 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today and services at 11 a.m. Friday in the Charles J. Burden & Son Funeral Home in Jackson. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Elizabeth Ann (Jurek) Keeler
Elizabeth Ann (Jurek) Keeler, 38 of Eden Prairie, Minn., has left our world on Tuesday, June 5, 2001.
Colon cancer has taken this vivacious, beautiful, young woman from her family and friends.

Beth graduated from Duluth East High School in 1981 and the College of Scholastica in 1985. She was a member of Pax Christi Catholic Community, where she taught religious instruction. She was previously employed as a project manager at Blue Cross of Minnesota and TKI Consulting.

Beth is survived by her husband, David; a daughter, Brittany; a son, Kyle; her parents, Jerome and Cheryl Jurek of Duluth; a brother, Jon Jurek of Duluth; a sister, Ann (John) Altmann and daughters, of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; her grandmothers, Evelyn Ramsdell of Brainerd and Martha Kulas of Kettle River; and extended family and friends.
Wake service and visitation: 3 p.m. Friday with a Mass to follow at 5 p.m. in Pax Christi Catholic Community, 12100 Pioneer Trail, Eden Prairie. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be used to procure a memorial bench for Beth.

Ione Katherine Morse
Ione Kathrine Morse, 63, of East Fifth Street died Monday, June 4, 2001, in St. Luke's hospital, after a dignified battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully with her husband, Wally, and her family by her side.
Ione was born Nov. 12, 1937, in Virginia to Maurice and Iona (Kampa) Stickney. In the early 1940s, the family moved to Duluth, where Ione attended Sacred Heart Cathedral High School. After graduation, she married Wallace Morse on June 30, 1956, in Duluth. In a few short weeks, Ione and Wally would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.

Ione was a member of The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary. She enjoyed collecting, spending time with her family and friends, and creating a home where all who entered felt welcome and loved.

She was our "angel" and will be greatly missed by all who knew her and were touched by her love.

Ione was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Iona; her brother, Edward Stickney; and her sister, Maurine Lindgren.

Survivors include her husband, Wally; her sons, Jim, Rob (Toni), Brian (Tammy), Mark (Marcia), Loren (Margo), all of Duluth, Tim (Angie) of Grand Marais and Eric of St. Peter, Minn.; a daughter, Kathy (Pat) Duffy of Bloomington, Minn.; a brother, Bob (Sue) Stickney of Duluth; a sister, Jackie (Sal) Loiacono of Coon Rapids; fourteen grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. Mass of Christian burial Friday in The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary. Burial in Sunrise Memorial Park, Hermantown. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Hospice. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. Second St., Duluth.

Elsie C. Nelson
Elsie C. Nelson, 96, of Redeemer Residence in Minneapolis died Tuesday, June 5, 2001.
Elsie was born in Hermantown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford A. Nelson.

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth "Betty" Erb of Livingston, Texas, and a son, James C. Nelson of Stacy, Minn.
Visitation: 9 until the 10 a.m. service Friday in Albin Chapel, 2200 Nicollet Avenue, Minneapolis. Interment will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Union cemetery, Hermantown.
