Robert "Bob" William Gronseth
Robert "Bob" William Gronseth, 64, of Dunedin Avenue died Saturday, March 31, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
He was born in Duluth to William Joseph and Loraine (Peterreins). Bob was a member of the Air Force Reserve and was a truck driver for Murphy Oil Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Teamsters Local 346.

Bob wintered for the past 10 years in Tonto Basin, Ariz. He loved to hunt, fish, ride his ATV, camp and hike. Bob loved the outdoors. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Marie, in 1990; and his father, William Joseph.

He is survived by his mother, Loraine, of Duluth; a daughter, Kim M. (Dave) Stebe; a son, Kurt R. (Mary Beth); and a brother, Charles A. (Betty), all of Duluth. Bob was special to his grandchildren Sarah and Eric Stebe and Allyson and Tyler Gronseth; also surviving are nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Wednesday in Bell Brothers Chapel. Burial in Oneota cemetery. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors, Bell Brothers Chapel, 601 N. 56th Ave. W.

Edna J. Lee
Edna J. Lee, 87, formerly of West Arrowhead Road, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, in Viewcrest Health Center.
She was born May 8, 1913, to August and Anna (Johnson) Bondeson, in Silverdale, Minn. Edna was a licensed practical nurse at Miller-Dwan Hospital for 16 years. She was a lifelong member of Peace United Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Kirby; her second husband, Arthur Lee; a sister, Hazel Hendrickson; and brothers Lewis, Bill, Abe and David Bondeson.

Edna is survived by her sons David (Jean) Kirby of Duluth and Dennis (Judy) Kirby of Plymouth, Minn.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mabel Hendrickson of Illinois; and a brother, Paul Bondeson, of Duluth.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Wednesday in Peace United Church of Christ. Entombment in Sunrise Memorial Park, Hermantown. Arrangements by Johnson Mortuary.

Mary A. Emerson
Mary A. Emerson, 43, of Morgan Park died Saturday, March 31, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
She was born in Duluth on July 30, 1957, to Louis and Margaret (Hammer) Clement. Mary was a lifelong Duluth resident. She graduated from St. Jean's High School and was a former member of St. Clement's Catholic Church. Mary had last worked in Wesley Residence as a certified nursing assistant. She was also very active with Habitat for Humanity.

She was preceded in death by her father, Louis Clement, in 1997.

Mary is survived by her husband, Dennis; a daughter, Crystal; her mother, Margaret Clement, all of Duluth; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Hegstrom Family Funeral Homes, Lenroot Chapel.

Conrad Hendershot
Conrad Hendershot, 62, of Duluth died Friday, March 30, 2001, in Lakeshore Lutheran Home.
He was born Feb. 3, 1939, in Woodside Township, Otter Tail County, to Howard and Ina (Wright) Hendershot. He was a longtime Duluth resident and had been a resident of Lakeside Manor for many years. Conrad was a former employee of Duluth Lighthouse for the Blind.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers Byard and Donald Hendershot.

He is survived by brothers Vernon Hendershot of Two Harbors and Loris (Betty) Hendershot of Sussex, N.J.; a sister, Maxine (Edwin) Dettwiler, of Two Harbors; a sister-in-law, Ethylene Hendershot, of Enid, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Tuesday in Jarvi-Dowd Chapel. The Rev. Robert J. Munson officiating. Inurnment in Wrightsville cemetery, Bertha, Minn. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors, Jarvi-Dowd Chapel, 925 E. Fourth St.

Roger Lee Southwick
Roger Lee Southwick, 48, of Cottage Drive, St. Germain, Wis., died Saturday, March 31, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
He was born in Duluth to Charles and Mildred Southwick and lived here most of his life before moving to St. Germain in 1994. He had also lived in Texas and Minneapolis. He was employed in various capacities throughout his life.

Roger was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and North American Fishing Club.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Caroline Sheils, of St. Germain; a brother, Jack Southwick, of Duluth; a sister, Suzanne Southwick, of Cambridge, Minn.; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Private family service to be held. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Thomas R. Krueger, Sr.
Thomas R. Krueger Sr., 76, died Saturday, March 31, 2001.
Thomas was born in Duluth Nov. 23, 1924. He graduated from Duluth Cathedral High School in 1942. Thomas was a Merchant Marine and served in the Marines during World War II. He retired as a captain of the Army and was a member of the Minnesota National Guard in Duluth. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1951 and lettered in football from 1948-1950. He retired from General Motors parts division.

Thomas was a member of VFW Post 5632 and a member of University "M Club."

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mary Krueger; a brother, Jule, who was killed on Iwo Jima in 1945.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Dorothy (Hren); a son, Tom Krueger Jr. (Patty); daughters, Mary (Bob) Blue, Juleane (Patrick) Bramwell, Joyce Krueger, Janet Krueger, Karen (Greg) Wright and Gail (John) Humbert; a brother, Jim (Marvina), of Irving Texas; grandchildren Katie, Kristi, Michael, Kelley, Joe, Sam, Emily and Peter.
Memorial gathering for relatives and friends: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina, Minn., (952) 924-4100. Private family interment in Ft. Snelling. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice. Be at peace now.

John A. "Jack" Marvin
John A. "Jack" Marvin, 83, of Appleton, Wis., died Sunday, July 15, 2001.
Jack was born Sept. 24, 1917, in Duluth to the late Luke and Bertelle (Barker) Marvin. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota. He served his country during World War II in the Navy. On Sept. 6, 1941, Jack married Audrey Parsons in Duluth, and the couple enjoyed almost 60 years together until her death in May of this year. Jack worked as a mechanical engineer for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.

Survivors include daughters Judith (Robert) Brock of Milwaukee, Cleo Toppen of Greenville, N.C., and Lois Lunio of Perth, Australia; a son, Edward (Lisa) Marvin of Waupaca; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, June Lindbergh of Duluth; and a brother, Rob (Grace) Marvin of Kalispell, Mont.
Friends may call from 3:30 until the 4 p.m. memorial service Saturday in Christ The Rock Church, W6554 Hwy. 10-114, Menasha, the Rev. Paul Nash officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Arrangements by Brettschneider, Trettin-Lederer, 606 N. Oneida St., Appleton, Wis., (920) 733-7383.

Bernice Elizabeth Grace Lentz
Bernice Elizabeth Grace Lentz, 87, formerly of 58th Avenue West, died Friday, July 13, 2001, in Nopeming Care Center.
Bernice was born in Neenah, Wis., to Walter and Ella (Hanson) Peterson and was a longtime Duluth resident. She attended the World Wide Church of God, and was a volunteer at Westminster Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She told bible stories through the use of the flannel graphs she made. She was a volunteer tutor for the Laubach Literacy program, was a Girl Scout leader, and helped children not attend camp who otherwise could not. Bernice loved to do fancy sewing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert in 1999; grandchildren Debbie, Frank and Robert; and great-grandchildren DeLisa, Christopher, and twins Corrie and Carrie.

Surviving are a daughter, Bobbie (Frank) Miller of Proctor; grandchildren Carrie, Bob, Greg and Cheryl; eight grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday and service at 2 p.m. Friday in Jarvi-Dowd Chapel. Entombment in Sunrise Memorial Park. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors, Jarvi-Dowd Chapel, 925 E. Fourth St.

Georgieanna R. Calverley
Georgieanna R. Calverley, 81, of St. Louis Avenue died Sunday, July 15, 2001, in St. Luke's hospital.
Georgieanna was born in Duluth and was a lifelong resident. She was born to Fred and Helen Johnson. She worked for American Linen Supply for many years.

Georgieanna was a former member of Alexander-Duprey VFW Post Auxiliary and former member of the Post Home of the West Duluth American Legion.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Alvin, who passed away Aug. 30, 1995.

She is survived by a daughter, Betty (Robert) Levy of Duluth; a brother, Frederick G. Johnson of Duluth; seven step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and six step-great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Wednesday in Fred Olson Mortuary Chapel. Interment in Sunrise Memorial Park. Services entrusted to Fred Olson Mortuary.
