Richard K. Larson
Richard K. Larson, 59, a resident of Hoffmockel Road in Superior died Friday, June 8, 2001, in St. Luke's hospital, Duluth.
Richard was born in Duluth Jan. 6, 1942, to Orville and Violet (Lyngstad) Larson, and had been a resident of the Duluth and Superior areas for all of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had worked as a welder for Union Compress Steel and Marine Iron. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Phyllis and Darlene; and a grandson.

Richard is survived by his wife, Josephine; sons Todd, Troy and Richard Larson of Duluth; stepsons Steven Anderson in Alaska and Joseph Anderson of Superior; daughters Toni and Tammy Larson of Duluth; stepdaughters Roberta Gilderman of Rochester, Minn., and Kelly Olson of Florida; brothers Allen (Karen) Larson and Donald Larson of Duluth; sisters Oral Ann (Frank) Puglisi of Florida and Donna (Tom) Tucker of Wisconsin; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Monday in Foley Chapel, concluding with a prayer at 8 p.m. No funeral services are scheduled.

Thomas W. Lindstrom
Thomas W. Lindstrom, 80, formerly of North 57th Avenue West died Thursday, March 15, 2001, in the Waters of Park Point health-care facility.
He was born Feb. 27, 1915, in Duluth to Gustaf and Hildur (Lindmark) Lindstrom. Thomas had worked for Goodwill Industries for many years, retiring in the late 1980s. He had attended First Presbyterian Church.

Thomas lived in Browning Residence for 15 years, prior to moving to the Waters of Park Point. He enjoyed reading.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gustaf in 1957; and his mother, Hildur in 1970. There are no known survivors.
Service: 11 a.m. Thursday in Bell Brothers Chapel. Burial in Oneota cemetery. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors, Bell Brothers Chapel, 601 N. 56th Ave. W.

Sigrid A. Jelinski
Sigrid A. Jelinski, 97, of Lakeland Shores Apartments and a former longtime Ironwood resident, died Monday, March 19, 2001, in Lakeshore Lutheran Nursing Home, Duluth.
Sigrid was born March 19, 1904, in Bessemer to Andrew and Ericka (Erickson) Wicklund. She attended Bessemer schools and moved to Ironwood in her senior year, graduating from L.L. Wright High School with the Class of 1921. She was the last member of that graduating class. She then attended Woodward Business School in Ironwood.

She was married to John Paul Jelinski in St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Ironwood by the late Monsignor J.B. Moriarity on Nov. 1, 1928. John preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1967. Sigrid remained in her home in Ironwood for 40 years, then moved to Duluth in 1987, where she lived in Lakeland Shore Apartments up until the time of her death.

Sigrid was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Duluth, a former member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church (now Our Lady of Peace), Ironwood, and enjoyed playing the piano and playing cards.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Crisp on Jan. 1, 1988; a brother; and five sisters.

Sigrid is survived by daughters Mary Lou (William) Sween of Delano, Minn., and Margie (Duane) Herold of Duluth; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Gathering of family and friends: 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Thursday in the St. Joseph Family Room, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Ironwood, the Rev. Darryl Pepin is celebrant. Lunch will be served in the parish hall immediately following Mass. Interment in Riverside cemetery, Ironwood. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 108 S. Marquette St., Ironwood, MI 49938. Arrangements by McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, Inc., Ironwood.

Percy H. Harris
Percy H. Harris, 77, of East Fifth Street passed away Sunday, March 18, 2001, in his home with his loving wife by his side.
He was born July 19, 1923, in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from high school and enlisted in the Army and was honorably discharged from service in 1951. Percy worked for a dry-cleaning business in Columbus as a spotter. In 1956, he moved to Duluth and worked for Dee Independent Cleaners as a spotter for 32 years, retiring in 1988.

Percy was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and a sister.

He is survived by his loving wife, Fannie Kate Harris; nieces Betty Harris and Bernice Brown, both of Duluth; a godson, Mike Harris; and special dog Dutchess.
Visitation: noon until the 1 p.m. service Friday in Crawford Funeral Chapel, 131 E. Second St., Duluth, the Rev. Arthur Foy officiating. Burial in Sunrise Memorial Park cemetery, Hermantown. Memorials may be made to the American Disabled Veterans. Arrangements by Crawford Funeral Service.

Dolores D. Janchar
Dolores D. Janchar, 70, of Gary-New Duluth died Saturday, March 17, 2001, in Thomas Hospital, Fairhope, Ala.
She was born in Duluth Nov. 26, 1930, to Joseph J. and Mary (Levstic) Janchar. Dolores was a lifelong New Duluth resident. She attended Stowe School and graduated from Morgan Park High School. She was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, K.S.K.J. Lodge 171 and Slovenian Women's Union 33. Dolores had worked for Woolworth's in sales for 43 years, retiring in 1992.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Mary Hennes and Ann K. Mrak.

She is survived by brothers Joseph R. (Alice) Janchar of New Duluth and Rudy (Dorothy) Janchar of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Betty J. Mrak of New Duluth; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 9:30 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Thursday in St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church. Burial in Calvary cemetery, Superior. Arrangements by Hegstrom Family Funeral Homes, Foley Chapel, 5405 Ramsey St.

Clara Agnes (Oldenborg) Feriancek
Clara Agnes (Oldenborg) Feriancek, 74, of Faith Haven died Friday, July 6, 2001, in her home.
She was born Aug. 1, 1926, in Blackduck, Minn., to Axel and Agnes (Sather) Oldenborg. She came to Duluth in 1954 and lived on North 57th Avenue West for 40 years until moving to Faith Haven, where she lived for the past few years. Clara was a graduate of Blackduck High School. She was a former employee of St. Mary's Medical Center, having worked in the housekeeping department. She was a member of Our Saviors Evangelical Lutheran Church, D.A.R.C. and was a former color bearer for the VFW auxiliary.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Matthew, on Aug. 25, 1989; a brother, John Oldenborg, and a sister, Gladys McGee.

Survivors include her children, Susan Rice of Brooklyn Center, Minn., Janet (Martin) Baumgartner of Esko, Bruce Feriancek of Duluth, Sarah Feriancek of Duluth and Thomas Feriancek of Port Orchard, Wash.; sisters Edna "Pat" (Roger) Larsen of Bemidji and Doris Comings of Manchester, Md.; brothers Clifton "Clif" Oldenborg of Blackduck and Allen (Eva) Oldenborg of Brooklyn Center; grandchildren Rebecca, Shane, Robert and Matthew; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Bell Brothers Chapel, where the service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, the Rev. John Hanson officiating. Burial in Oneota cemetery. Memorials to D.A.R.C. would be appreciated. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors-Bell Brothers Chapel, 601 N. 56th Ave. W., 624-5745.

Robert "Bob" H. Heise
Robert "Bob" H. Heise, 67, of Farrell Road died Thursday, July 5, 2001, in St. Luke's hospital with his family by his side following a 14-month battle with leukemia.
He was born Feb. 20, 1934, to Walter and Eleanor Heise in Dexter, N.Y. Bob was an Air Force veteran, having served as a fireman. Following his discharge from the Air Force, Bob moved to Duluth in the mid-1950s and worked as a fireman at the Duluth Air Base until its closing in the early 1980s. For the last 16 years, Bob was a custodian at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He married Connie Robertson Nov. 30, 1974, in Duluth. Bob loved his garden and the time spent in the garden, especially his many prized tomato plants. He was also an avid woodworker and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald, in 2000.

Bob is survived by his wife, Connie; sons Robert (Patricia) of Seward, Alaska, and Jon (Lisa) of Willow, Alaska; a daughter, Dawn O'Mara of Minneapolis; Connie's sons and a daughter, Jim (Nancy) Holmgren, Jack (Lynn) Holmgren, both of Duluth, and Christine (Larry) Holmgren of Santa Monica, Calif; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Arnold, of Dexter, N.Y.; and a sister, Boo Lawton, of Watertown, N.Y.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Johnson Mortuary Chapel and continuing from 12:30 p.m. until the 1:30 p.m. service Monday in Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Burial in Sunrise Memorial Park, Hermantown. Memorials may be directed to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or to the Memorial Blood Center in care of the Arrowhead Regional Blood Center, 5115 Burning Tree Road, Duluth, MN 55811. Herbert Loren Eikanger Sr.
Herbert Loren Eikanger Sr., 70, of Hunter Lake Road in Fredenberg Township, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, in St. Mary's Hospice.
He was born May 12, 1931, in Duluth to Andrew and Louise (Loraas) Eikanger. He served in the Naval Reserve and the Coast Guard Reserve. He attended the Smith Hughes Trade School, which helped prepare him for his lifelong work as a carpenter. He worked for United General Contractors for 42 years, retiring as a superintendent in 1980. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 361.

He was a member of the Rice Lake Fire Department for 20 years, had served on the Rice Lake Water Board, and was very involved in the Rice Lake Community Club. He was a member of AA for 23 years. He had been a ski jumper at Chester Bowl in the 1940s. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, boating, farming, time in the sauna, watching the loons, feeding the deer, and listening to the "Money Train" as it went through Twig.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Einar F. and Paul J. Eikanger; a grandson, Douglas Gene; and a brother-in-law, Frank Seitz.

He is survived by his children, Herbert L. Jr. (Lesli), Douglas A. (Teresa), Joanne M. (Warren) Chesney, Denise E. Farwell and Carole R. (Richard) Saylor, all of Duluth; the mother of their children, Marjorie Eikanger; a brother, Roy M. of Ocoee, Fla.; sisters Margaret (Frank) Ostrander of Duluth, Arlene L. Seitz of Fifield, Wis., and Sharon E. (LeRoy) Larson of Yorba Linda, Calif.; grandchildren Garrett, Andrew, Anita, Adam, Travis, Trevor, Jacquelyn, Rachel, Kyliejo and Randy; great-grandchildren Austin, Taylor Mae and Nicholas; many nieces and nephews; Rich Walkowiak; and many loving and supportive friends and relatives.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. today in Williams-Lobermeier Funeral Home and continuing from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Monday in Family of God Lutheran Church, 4097 Martin Road. Burial in Noble Hill cemetery, Fredenberg Township. If desired, memorials may be sent to the Fredenberg Fire Department First Responders.

John J. Barcelona
John J. Barcelona, 86, of Duluth passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, in the Waters of Park Point health care facility.
John was a veteran of World War II having served in the Philippines, Guadalcanal and New Zealand.

John is survived by his children, Mary, John Jr., Nancy, James and Gregory Barcelona and Teresa Mort-Peterson.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Wednesday in Fred Olson Mortuary. Burial in Calvary cemetery. Arrangements by Fred Olson Mortuary.

Lawrence Edward "Larry" Linskie
Lawrence Edward "Larry" Linskie, 47, of South 70th Avenue West died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, in Duluth.
A lifelong Duluth resident, he was born July 15, 1954, to Robert Wayne and Dianne Threse (Joyal) Linskie. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, on May 28, 1981; a brother, Bob, May 14, 1976; a sister, Connie Rae Linskie, May 20, 1978; and his step-father, Wendell Fiero, June 9, 1998.

Survivors include sons Bill Tandler and Josh Linskie and a daughter, Danelle Linskie, all of Superior; his mother, Dianne Fiero of Duluth; brothers Mark and Louis Linskie, both of Duluth; three grandchildren and an unborn grandchild; three step-sisters; and many aunts and uncles.
Visitation: 4 until the 5 p.m. memorial service Monday in Bell Brothers Chapel, the Rev. Father Charles Flynn officiating. Inurnment in Oneota cemetery. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors, 601 N. 56th Ave. W.
