LEONORE LIEBERMAN
Leonore Lieberman, 90, formerly of Duluth died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, in Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, Minn.
She is survived by her nephew, Marc Lieberman; and nieces Charlene Lieberman Harr and Nancy Lieberman Jordan, all of San Diego.
VISITATION: 4-8 p.m. today in Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls. Burial at noon Wednesday in Temple Emanuel cemetery, Duluth.

JANIS L. CAMERON
Janis L. Cameron, 52, of Duluth passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 10, 1949, in Duluth to Clifford and Eleanor (Dahlberg) Johnson. Janis married Doug Cameron on Dec. 28, 1968, in Duluth. She worked as a travel agent at Port Town Travel. Janis was a member of the Duluth Curling Club. She enjoyed archeology, anthropology, reading, needlework and astrology. Most of all, Janis enjoyed spending time with her family.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Doug; her children, Kurt (Sharon) Bolin of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Shawn, Nick and Ashley Cameron, all of Duluth; a brother, Jeff Johnson of Duluth; a niece; and a nephew.
A CELEBRATION OF JANIS CAMERON'S LIFEwill be held at 5 p.m. Friday in the Duluth Curling Club in the DECC. All of Janis and Doug's friends are invited to attend. Services entrusted to Cremation Society of Minnesota, (218) 624-5200.

WILLIAM EDWARD KARO SR.
William Edward Karo Sr., 69, of Lakeside, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, in his home.
He was born in Superior on Jan. 7, 1932, and moved to Duluth in 1954. He was a Jehovah's Witness, a member of the Hunter's Park Congregation in Duluth.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lavonne.

Survivors include his wife, Betty L.; and his children, William Jr. of Canyon, Jody (Brian) Steinblock of Brooklyn, N.Y., Brian of Duluth; and his grandchildren, Barbara and Joseph Karo.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2 p.m. Wednesday in Kingdom Hall, Duluth.

NANCY LOU LEONARD
Nancy Lou Leonard, 60, of Mississippi Avenue died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
Nancy was born in Chicago to Harry and Vivian Vallie VanKessel, and moved to Duluth as an infant. She was formerly employed as a surgical registered nurse with St. Mary's Medical Center, where she was a supervisor. Nancy was a 1963 graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing in Minneapolis.

She was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church and was past president of Home and School Association at Holy Rosary School. Nancy was an active volunteer at Holy Rosary School and Central High School.

Nancy was a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband, Edward; a daughter, Emily of Duluth; sisters Marlene (John) Simon of Lansing, Mich., and Bonnie Beerhalter of Duluth; and brothers Skip (Donna) VanKessel of Duluth, Craig VanKessel of Campbell, Calif., and William (Judy) and Michael (Jean) VanKessel, both of Duluth.
VISITATION: 5 p.m. today with 7 p.m. wake prayers in Dougherty Funeral Home. Service at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Burial in Calvary cemetery. Memorials to St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth.

CORDELIA E. OLMON
Cordelia E. Olmon, 82, of Duluth died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, in Minneapolis, from a brain aneurysm.
Cordelia was a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. She taught math and geography for many years in Morgan Park and Stowe schools in Duluth, and previously taught in Olivia and Brainerd, Minn. She enjoyed spending summers at the cabin on Diamond Lake near Spicer, Minn., and was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Glenn V. Olmon; her parents, Benjamin and Ida Nelson; and a sister, Iona Nelson.

Cordelia is survived by her children, David (Carol) Olmon of White Bear Lake, Minn., Janice Smoot of Danville, Ill., and John (Diane) Olmon of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; a brother, Bruno Nelson of St. James, Minn.; her special grandchildren, Stephanie, Kirstin, Laura, Rachel and Lindsey; a nephew, Tim Nelson; a niece, Deborah Anderson; and many dear friends.
VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in Williams-Lobermeier Funeral Home, 3208 W. Third St., and continues from noon until the 1 p.m. service Wednesday in Salem Lutheran Church, 4715 Hermantown Road. Private burial in Mount Hope cemetery, St. James.

HENDRIK P. "HANK" FOSLE
Hendrik P. "Hank" Fosle, 72, of Trinity Road passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, in his residence.
He was born Jan. 13, 1929, in Duluth to Helmer and Ellen (Cornelius) Fosle. Hank married Maxine Gallipo on Dec. 11, 1954, in Duluth. He was retired as a plant operator for WLSSD. Hank served in the Navy during the Korean War and then joined the Coast Guard Reserves, retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and its Plus-55 Club. Hank enjoyed spending time at his cabin fishing and also spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers Arthur and Wallace.

Hank is survived by his wife, Maxine; sons Dennie (Elvie) Fosle of Kelsey and Jeffery (Tina) Fosle of Duluth; daughter, Ginger (Hugh) Smith of Superior; grandchildren Darlene, Johnathan, Nicole, Mark and Jessica; brothers Jacob (Barbara) of Duluth, Nels of St. Cloud and Julius of Duluth; sisters Maria Olson and Signe St. George, both of Duluth.

He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
VISITATION: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Wednesday in the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave., Father Noel Stretton presiding. Cremation follows and inurnment will take place in Calvary cemetery at a later date.

JUNE ANNA CARLSON
June Anna Carlson, 83, of Duluth died peacefully in her home Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
She was born June 27, 1918, in Bessemer to Oscar and Josephine Anderson. After graduating from high school, she moved to Duluth to attend Duluth Business University. On July 22, 1939, she married John Edwin Carlson. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1964, and taught English at Duluth East High School until her retirement in 1985.

June was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the Lydia Circle. She was also a member of the Goodwill Auxiliary and Delta Kappa Gamma. Over the years, she volunteered at the Depot, Miller Dwan Gift Shop, St. Luke's Hospice and the Kid's Closet.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Druscilla; her husband; and a great-grandson, Cord Olesiak.

Survivors include a sister, Verna Bellows of Duluth; a brother, John (Rita) Anderson of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a son, David (Jeanne) of Lutz, Fla.; daughters Beth (Tim) Kwapick of Duluth, Carol Stephenson of Moose Lake and Pat Branscombe of Maple Grove, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. Nov. 9, 2001, in Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Burial in Park Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Fred Olson Mortuary.

J.E. "CONNIE" PLEBAN
UMD, Olympic hockey coach
J.E. "Connie" Pleban, 87, of East Second Street died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, in the Benedictine Health Center.
Connie was born April 24, 1914, in Eveleth to Conrad and Anna (Haliss) Pleban. He attended Eveleth High School and Eveleth Junior College. He was an Army veteran of World War II from 1942 to 1945, serving in Africa and Italy. He devoted most of his life to hockey. He played for Eveleth High School, Eveleth Junior College and the Chicago Baby Ruth Team that won the National AAU Championship in 1935. He coached, managed and played on semipro teams at Eagle River, Wis., Eveleth and Marquette, Mich., from 1936 to 1942. He was appointed city clerk in Eveleth from 1945 to 1951, where he was instrumental in procuring an artificial ice plant for the Hippodrome.

He coached the national teams at the World Games in London in 1950, Geneva in 1961, and Colorado Springs in 1962. He coached the Olympic hockey team in 1952 to a silver medal at the Oslo Games. Connie coached the UMD Bulldogs from 1955 to 1960, and still owns the best winning percentage at UMD. He was elected to the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1990 and UMD Athletic Hall of Fame on Oct. 5, 2001.

Connie was an original member of USAAHA and served as a director on both state and national boards for many years. He married Josephine "Babe" Motti on June 21, 1952, in Eveleth. Connie moved to Duluth in 1955. He retired from sporting goods sales in 1976, and he was a member of Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine "Babe, " and many nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. today with wake prayers at 6:30 p.m. in Dougherty Funeral Home. Service at 10 a.m. Saturday in Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary. Burial in Eveleth cemetery, Eveleth. Memorials to Benedictine Health Center, 935 Kenwood Ave., Duluth MN 55811. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 727-3555.

JAMES R. "REGGIE" TALBOT
James R. "Reggie" Talbot, 92, of Proctor died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at Lakeshore Lutheran Home, Duluth.
He was born Aug. 28, 1909, in Duluth to David and Mary (Young) Talbot. He worked for Duluth Missabe & Iron Range Railway for 25 years, then moved to Lewistown, Mont., in 1950 and retired as a chef. Reggie was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and a former member of Proctor Moose 1302, America Legion Post 106 and Proctor VFW.

Reggie was preceded in death by his wife, Fritzi, in 1994; a daughter, Betty Lou, in 1942; a son, Lyle, in 2000; a grandson, Jason, in 1972; a great-grandson, Jeff Hart, in 2000; sisters Muriel and Edna; and brothers Tim, Cleo and Kenneth.

He is survived by a daughter, Pat (Ken) Funk of Redding, Calif.; sons Dave Sr. (Char) and Ron (Ardis), both of Duluth, and Mike "Butch" (fiancee Arlene) of Hayward, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Frances Talbot of Great Falls, Mont.; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers Donald (Eleanor) of Tucson, Ariz., and Roger (Jessie) of Duluth; and his special friend, Alma Fontaine of Proctor.
VISITATION: 9 until the 10 a.m. memorial service Saturday in St. Rose Catholic Church, Proctor. Burial in Mount Olivet cemetery, Great Falls. Memorials to St. Rose. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors, Bell Brothers Chapel, 601 N. 56th Ave. W.
