DALE G. MULVAHILL
Dale G. Mulvahill, 67, of Superior died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, in his residence.
He was born July 1, 1934, to Isabelle (Webb) and Barney Mulvahill in Duluth. He was a lifelong Superior resident. He worked as a machinist for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Delma in 1997.
He is survived by his son, Gary of Duluth; daughter Debra (Joe) Ralph of Las Vegas; stepdaughters Rhonda (Rick) Gamble of Mechanicsville, Va., Lisa (Steve) Lewandowski and Laurie (Jerry) DeMoure, all of Superior; 10 grandchildren; and a sister, Carol (Walter) Wallen of Duluth.
Visitation: 3 until the 3:30 p.m. service Friday in Downs Funeral Home, the Rev. Robert Baranow officiating. Interment in Greenwood cemetery.
LYLE R. THOMPSON
Lyle R. Thompson, 90, of South Range died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, in Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He is survived by his brother, Roger; 16 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 10:30 until the 11 a.m. service Friday in Downs Funeral Home. Inurnment in Greenwood cemetery.
MAE F. METERAUD
Mae F. Meteraud, 91, of Broadway Street died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in SMDC-Superior.
She is survived and thought of as a great-grandma to great-nieces and great-nephews Marilyn Maki Beetcher (Dan), Marsha Maki Napolitano (Gerry), William J. Maki (Anita), Mark Maki (Sara), Melissa (Maki) Gudowski (Joe), and Irene Maki; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 9:30 until the 10:30 a.m. service Tuesday in Downs Funeral Home. Burial in Greenwood cemetery, Superior.
Nancy Rooney
Nancy Rooney, 49, of Superior, formerly of Wentworth, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, in St. Luke's Hospital Hospice Unit, Duluth.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Rooney, of Superior; two sisters, Janis (Mark) Cummings and their children Nicole and Nathan, all of Superior, and Susan Lackson of Superior. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Peter (Marnie) Rooney of Duluth and Michael (Vicki) Rooney of St. Paul, Minn.; four sisters-in-law, Marlys (John) Schuerman of Burlington, Wis., Martha (Robert) Byrne and Mary (Donald) Peterson, all of Superior, and Maureen Russom of Brainerd, Minn.; several nieces and nephews; and special family Jesse Hellerud and Melissa (Christopher) Reuille and their children Emma and Ethan.
Visitation: noon until the 1 p.m. service today in Peace Lutheran Church in Poplar, Pastor Greg Gullicksrud officiating. Burial in Poplar cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark and Nathan Cummings, James Betros, Robert Byrne, Donald Peterson and Peter Rooney. Honorary pallbearers will be her co-workers from Douglas County Human Services. JEREMY R. STROMQUIST
Jeremy R. Stromquist, 18, of South Old Lyman Lake Road died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Brenda (Olaf) Stromquist; paternal grandparents Arvid and Evelyn Stromquist; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

CHARLES F. HARRER
Charles F. Harrer, 90, of Superior passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, in Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born May 26, 1911, in Lake Nebagamon to Paul and Alvina (Beetcher) Harrer. Charles married
Vieno Maki in Superior on Sept. 5, 1938. He worked as a welder for Butler Shipyard during World War II and retired from Frasier Shipyard. Charles enjoyed fishing, reading and spending time with his family.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Vieno, in 1947; a brother, Wesley; and a sister, Lillian Frisk.
He is survived by his son, Gary (Gerri) Harrer of Sturgeon Lake; grandsons Shawn and Craig Harrer; great-grandchildren Johanas, Brandon and Joey; and a brother, Wally (Marian) Harrer of Arkansas.
PRIVATE FAMILY GRAVESIDE inurnment will take place at a later date in Greenwood cemetery. Services entrusted to Cremation Society of Minnesota, Duluth, (218) 624-5200.
MARTHA L. (OLSON) BLAISDELL
Martha L. (Olson) Blaisdell, 79, of Superior died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Wilfred; a son, Kenneth B. (Susan) Olson; daughters Dianne E. (Richard) Caffrey, Janet (Keith) LeBard and Andrea L. (Crandall) Hollister; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother; three stepchildren; five step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 1:30 until the 3 p.m. funeral Mass Monday in St. Anthony's Church.
HELEN MARY BRECKE BENSON
Helen Mary Brecke Benson of North 20th Street died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, in her residence.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara (Richard) Benson Nelson and Patty (John) Benson Thompson; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Noon until the 2 p.m. service Friday in Thompson-Hegstrom Funeral Home. Interment in Graceland cemetery.
ERMA T. PEDDLE
Erma T. Peddle, 84, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Superior died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, in Mexico after a battle with cancer.
Erma is survived by sons Clarence "Butch", Francis, and Jerry Kastern; daughter Peggy Ware; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother; and three sisters.
Visitation: one hour before the 1 p.m. memorial service Friday in Downs Funeral Home in Superior.
Vern L. Warren
Vern L. Warren, 79, of Iron River died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.
Born Aug. 7, 1922, in Pickford, Mich., he was a longtime Iron River resident. He married
Evelyn Willoughby Aug. 10, 1970, and recently celebrated 31 years of marriage.
Warren owned and operated a boarding house in Iron River. He was a veteran of the Army, having served during World War II in the European theater overseas. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans of Ashland, life member of the Iron River VFW Post 10197; and also a member of the Iron River American Legion Post 506 of which he was a past commander.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and two sisters.
In addition to his wife, Evelyn, he is survived by stepdaughters Karen (Kenny) Polston of Iron River and Barbara (Dennis) Painter of Cloquet; stepsons Harvey (Lynn) Willoughby of Esko and Robert (Julie) Willoughby of Racine, Wis.; grandchildren Kevin, Kerrie, Teresa, Denny, Becky, Drew, Brad, Kyle and Kim; great-grandchildren Karen and Jacob; a brother, Calvin (Patricia) Warren of Livonia, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Noon until the 1 p.m. service Tuesday in Calvary Presbyterian Church, Iron River, Pastor Marilee Olson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Tripp cemetery in the Town of Tripp.

Mindy B. Wick
Mindy B. Wick, 34, of West Iron Lake Lane, Iron River, formerly of Superior died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.
She was born Jan. 2, 1967, in Superior and had lived in Iron River the past three years.
Ms. Wick worked as a waitress in restaurants in Duluth, Superior and Iron River.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, George and Ruth Sauter; and paternal grandparents, Oscar and Florence Wick.
Surviving are her partner, Ken Fiebrink, and their daughter, Amber Fiebrink, of Iron River; her parents Oscar Jr. and Joy Wick, Superior; brothers Gregg (Maura) Wick, Beaverton, Ore., and Tim (Michelle) Wick, Foxboro; a sister, Cara (Royal) Wehmanen, Superior; three aunts, Barb Graves, Foxboro, Kathy Wick, South Range, and Phyllis Wick, Carson City, Nev.; a special friend, Andy Caldwell of England; and several nieces and nephews.

Esther O. Barker
Esther O. Barker, 84, of North 23rd Street and a lifelong Superior resident died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, in her home with her family by her side.
She is survived by her sons Danny (DeAnn), Bill (Cathy), Mike (Delores) and Bruce (Kim); a daughter, Jeanne (David) Drolson; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ralph (Etta) Anderson.
Visitation: 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service Friday in William Downs-LeSage Funeral Home. Burial in Greenwood cemetery.
Paul "LeRoy" Anderson
Paul "LeRoy" Anderson, 36, formerly of Superior, died Feb. 2, 2001, in Jupiter, Fla.
Paul was born Dec. 16, 1964. He worked as a chef for Pierre's in Jupiter and also had a business maintaining and cleaning offices.
He is survived by his parents, Frank and Betty Anderson; a brother, Edward (Dawn) Anderson; and nephews Erick and Nicholas "Nikki," all of Superior.
