Howard R. Graham
Howard R. Graham, 81, of Cloquet died Sunday, March 25, 2001, in his home.
He was born Oct. 26, 1919, in Arlington, S.D., to Guy and Nellie (Lewis) Graham. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Meyer Nov. 24, 1943, in Madison, Minn.

Howard retired from Northwest Paper Co. in Cloquet as a crane operator after 27 years of employment. He was a member of Moose Lodge 1274 of Cloquet and Potlatch Quarter Century Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Clifford Allen.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; a son, John (Julia) of Cloquet; daughters Judith (Spencer) Motschenbacher of Lutsen and Norma (Richard C. Johnson) Graham of Duluth; brothers Donold (Barbara) of Hayward and LeRoy (Patricia) of Pekin, Ill.; and grandchildren Daniel Motschenbacher of St. Louis Park, Minn., and David, Rachel and Katie Graham, all of Cloquet.
Memorial service: 2 p.m. Wednesday in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Cloquet. The Rev. Donald Love officiating. Spring inurnment in Guthrie cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Edward J. Wauzynski
Edward J. Wauzynski, 82, of Hibbing died Friday, March 23, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Helen (Lastovich); daughters Sandra (Tex) Walters and Linda (Fred) Lung, a son, John (Sue); two brothers; a sister; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today with wake prayers at 7 p.m. in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m. Tuesday in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment in Maple Hill cemetery.

Jack W. Bergan
Jack W. Bergan, 72, of Biwabik, died Friday, March 23, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; sons Patrick (Kristine) of Bremerton, Wash., and Lt. Timothy (Darlene) stationed with the Navy in Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters; and four grandchildren.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home, Gilbert, and 10 until the 11 a.m. service Wednesday in St. John's Catholic Church, Biwabik. The Rev. Frank Perkovich as celebrant. Burial in Lakeside cemetery, Biwabik.

Tyler J. Laveau
Tyler J. Laveau, 12, of Wrenshall died Friday, March 23, 2001, at home.
He was born June 28, 1988, to Peter and Kimberly (Shanda) Laveau. He was in the seventh grade at Wrenshall School and a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Carlton where he was an active server. Tyler enjoyed football, hunting, camping, fishing, helping to work the Laveau farm, cooking and showing cattle at the fairgrounds. He helped start the 4-H Club Wrenshall Dairiers.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Alex Laveau Sr.; and uncles Alex "Joe" Laveau Jr. and Lindsay Johnson.

He is survived by his parents, Peter and Kimberly Laveau; a brother, Timothy; sisters Samantha and Christina; maternal grandparents, Nick and Nancy Shanda of Wrenshall; paternal grandmother, Ramona Laveau of Wrenshall; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Monday in Nelson Funeral Care with rosary service at 8 p.m. Visitation continues from 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Tuesday in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Cloquet, the Rev. Fathers Kenton Sailstad and James Bissonette celebrating. Pallbearers are his uncles, Matthew Laveau, Duane Laveau, John Laveau, David Laveau, Kevin Shanda, Stephen Shanda and Brian Shanda. Interment service in Silverbrook cemetery, Wrenshall. Memorials are preferred to the Tyler Laveau Memorial Fund. Arrangements by Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet.

LaVerne R. Kemi
LaVerne R. Kemi, 69, of Cloquet died Friday, March 23, 2001, in Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 13, 1931, in Wright, daughter of Cleveland and Rena Pettit and was a life-long area resident. She married Eugene Kemi Feb. 4, 1950, in Cloquet. LaVerne was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed flower gardening and collecting porcelain dolls.

She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Shelly Kemi; a granddaughter, Carrie Demenge; brothers Roland, Art, Lawrence, Alfred, Orville and Emery Pettit; and a sister, Lorraine Oja.

LaVerne is survived by her husband of 51 years, Eugene; daughters Lois (Jay) Anderson of Carlton and Elaine Demenge of Urbana, Mo.; sons Robert, Lyle (Karen) and Gordon (Julie), all of Cloquet; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Nyberg of Cromwell; and a brother, Merle Pettit of Mountain Home, Ark.
Family will receive friends: Noon until the 1 p.m. service Tuesday in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. Spring interment in Lakeview cemetery, Wright. (To sign the guest book online, see www.legacy.com) .

Cyril "Cy" Wennen
Cyril "Cy" Wennen, 85, of Virginia died Friday, March 23, 2001, in Virginia Regional Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 10, 1915, in Virginia to Charles and Elizabeth (Perry) Wennen. He grew up and attended school in Virginia, graduating from Roosevelt High School. He had been employed as an electrical supervisor for U.S. Steel for 43 years. He retired in 1978. He was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church where he had served as a lay minister and member of the Holy Spirit Church Choir. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1640 and had been active with the Virginia Boy Scouts.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Wennen; a daughter, Mary Henry; two sisters; two brothers; and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; a son, James E. (Karen) Wennen of Grand Rapids; grandchildren Douglas Henry and Kirsten Barie; a great-grandson, Ryan Barie; a stepson, Michael (Phyllis) Laukka of Greeley, Colo.; four step grandchildren; brothers Woodrow (Mable) Wennen of Mountain Iron and Leslie Wennen of Chisholm; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 12:30 p.m. Monday with Knights of Columbus rosary at 1 p.m. and memorial Mass at 2 p.m., all in Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Virginia. Burial in Calvary cemetery, Virginia. Arrangements by Range Funeral Home.

Frances J. Hydukovich
Frances J. Hydukovich, 78, of Chisholm died Friday, March 23, 2001, in University Medical Center-Mesabi in Hibbing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Charles; an infant sister; and her twin sister, Helen Levchak, March 21.

Survivors include a son, David (Mary) Hydukovich; grandchildren Paul and Christopher Hydukovich; numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Monday in Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service Chapel, Chisholm. Visitation and services for Frances and her twin sister, Helen, will be simultaneous.

Clifford Erick Jackson, Jr.
Clifford Erick Jackson Jr., 59, of Cloquet died unexpectedly Friday, March 23, 2001, in his son's home.
He was born July 13, 1941, in Cloquet, the son of Clifford and Mayme (Heikkila) Jackson. Raised in Munger, he was a 1959 graduate of Proctor High School. He married Susan Hallback Jan. 6, 1962, in Cloquet. Clifford was a retired driver for United Parcel Service. He enjoyed working on the family farm, gardening, woodworking, going to Arizona for the winter and was a devoted grandpa to his grandchildren. He was a member of Moose Lodge 1274 in Cloquet and the Eagles in Apache Junction, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Jackson Sr. in 1975; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Lyes March 16, 2001.

Cliff is survived by his wife, Susan of Cloquet; a son, Rick of Cloquet; a daughter, Teresa (Kris) Robinson of Hermantown; his mother, Mayme Jackson of Cloquet; a brother, Denny of Superior; a sister, Jean (Randy) Obrecht of Cloquet; grandchildren Eric and Alex Jackson and Christopher, Morgan and Meagan Robinson; brothers-in-law Donald (Shirley) Hallback, Charles Hallback, Terrance (Donna) Hallback and Michael Lyes, all of Cloquet; and sisters-in-law Kathleen (Dennis) Johnson and Roberta (William) Johnson, both of Cloquet; and many nieces and nephews.
Private family service in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet.

Palmer J. Grovum
Palmer J. Grovum, 89, of Gilbert died Friday, March 23, 2001, in St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth.
Survivors include his wife, Marie; sons Larry (Debra), Lowell (Irma); daughters Darlene (David) Cass, Connie (Jim) Bombenger; six grandchildren; three great-grandsons; a brother, Obert (Evelyn) Grovum; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service: 10 a.m. Monday in Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home, Gilbert. Military honors accorded. Inurnment at a later date.

Jacob R. Long
Jacob R. Long of Eveleth, infant son of Mary Long and Arnie Archambeau died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.
He was born March 20. Surviving are his parents; a sister, Paige Long; maternal grandparents Sandra Sersha and Alan Long; paternal grandparents Beth and Keith Archambeau; uncles Stephen and John Paul Sersha and Keith Archambeau; aunts Olive Long and Mary Archambeau; numerous grandaunts and granduncles, cousins and special friends, the Giest family.
Service: Noon Tuesday in Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home, Gilbert. Burial in Eveleth cemetery.

Tavye John "TJ" Bloch
Tavye John "TJ" Bloch, 20, of Bigfork passed away Thursday, March 22, 2001.
He is survived by parents Kristin and Randy Bloch; a brother, Beau; his girlfriend, Molly Richards; paternal grandmother, Ginger Bloch; maternal grandfather, H D Dickhoff; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation: Noon until the 2 p.m. memorial service Wednesday in Bigfork Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids.

Patrick Cleath
Patrick Cleath, 21, of Jesse Lake Township died March 23, 2001, in Grand Rapids.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. today in Carroll Funeral Home in Bigfork. Service 2 p.m. Monday in Bigfork Lutheran Church.
