He received certificates of recognition from the state of Minnesota, Executive Department, signed by Gov. Rudy Perpich for "Outstanding Senior Citizen of Carlton County, 1983" and "Outstanding Contributor to Elder Minnesotans Quality of Life, 1986."

Henry was an avid baseball fan and traveled a five-state area scouting sandlot players for the original Duluth Dukes. He took great delight in letting people 50 years his junior "teach" him to play cribbage as he consumed an entire package of M&Ms.;

Henry will be sadly missed and remembered for his kindness, generosity and trademark pipe.

Survivors include cousins Doris Drill of Saginaw, Roger Drill of Washington, Evelyn Wingness of Burnsville, Minn., and Julia Boyd of Seattle, Wash.; and friends Teri Gouze, Joyce Novacinski and GolDurnKat.
