Doris L. Dockery, 76, of Hoyt Lakes died Friday, June 22, 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Fred; a daughter, Patricia (Paul) Tekautz; brothers Ralph (Nadine) Swalwell and Max (Jeanette) Swalwell; sisters Helen (Carl) Hagge and Esther Brown; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Monday in Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home, Aurora, and from 12:30 until the 1:30 p.m. service Tuesday in Trinity United Methodist Church, Hoyt Lakes. Burial in Hoyt Lakes Memorial cemetery.

Sylvia Anderson Kallio
Sylvia Anderson Kallio, 94, of Washington, D.C., formerly of the Beaver Township area in Aitkin County died peacefully with family members present, Wednesday, June 20, 2001, in her home in Washington, D.C.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Wednesday in Beaver Church in Beaver Twp. of Aitkin County on Highway 27. Burial in the Beaver Twp. cemetery. A reception will follow at the Rice River Town Hall. Arrangements by McGregor Funeral Home, McGregor.

Mary Katherine (Saban) Stilinovich
Mary Katherine (Saban) Stilinovich, 78, of Hibbing died Friday, June 22, 2001 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.
She was born in North Hibbing to Mile and Milka (Rudelich) Saban Feb. 2, 1923, and attended Washington and Lincoln schools in North Hibbing, graduating from Hibbing High School in 1942. Mary attended and graduated from the Pacific Aircraft Assembly School in Minneapolis and was employed by Northwest Airlines (in Liberator B-24 Bombers) Modification Center in St. Paul during World War II. She and Lillian Marohl were the first women to be employed in the Modification Maintenance Center in St. Paul. They were assistant supervisors in the electrical modification project on B-24s. After the war's end, she returned home to Hibbing and was united in marriage with John W. Stilinovich in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Feb. 7, 1948. She devoted her time to her family and was a homemaker and a member of the Community Senior Citizens Center, Croatian Catholic Union, the Tourist Center and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph J. Stilinovich on July 17, 1997; and a sister, Anna Modich on Dec. 14, 1997; and her parents.

Mary is survived by her husband of 53 years, John; daughters Katherine A. (John) Dixon of Hibbing and Mary S. (James) Hallila of Big Lake, Minn.; grandchildren Christine Rosario of Randolph, N.J., Deanne Buffie of New Richmond, Wis., Daniel Hallila of McGuire AFB, N.J., Heidi Sipe of St. Michael, Minn., Melissa Dixon, Monticello, Minn., and John V. Stilinovich of Minneapolis; five great- grandchildren; and brothers George (Louise) Saban and Steve (Frances) Saban, both of Hibbing.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing, with rosary at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m. Monday in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the Rev. James Hauver celebrating. Burial in Maple Hill cemetery. Pallbearers: Daniel Hallila, John V. Stilinovich, John Dixon, James Hallila, Thomas Saban and Frank Modich.

Georgia Ann Meade
Georgia Ann Meade, 72, of Deer Lake, Grand Rapids, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, in her home.
Memorial service will be held at a later date in the Vet's Club, Deer River.

Toivo M. Lofberg
Toivo M. Lofberg, 84, of Ely died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, in the Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital.
He was born Oct. 11, 1916, in Ely to Isaac and Adolphina (Koskimaki) Lofberg. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theatre of Operation with the 96th Infantry Division. He was in the initial assault force landings on Leyte Island in the Philippines and Okinawa. A graduate of Ely Memorial High School, he was employed by the City of Ely from 1932 to 1977, when he retired. He was an avid cross-country skier. He was a past member of VFW Post 2717. Tolvo was a very dedicated and loving son, brother and uncle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Lofberg; sisters Edith Marines, Saima Anderson and Jennie Lundein.

Survivors include a sister, Helia Goard of Ely; nieces Lorraine Hanala of Tower, Marian Pelto of Baxter, Minn.; nephews Edwin E. Anderson of Phoenix, David Lundein of Duluth and Peter Marines of Nashville, Tenn.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. July 5 in First Lutheran Church, Ely. Entombment in Sunrise Memorial Park, Hermantown. Arrangements by Kerntz Funeral Home, Ely.

William A. "Bill" Bradley
William A. "Bill" Bradley, 68, of Ely died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, in the Ely-Bloomenson Hospital.
He was born in Minneapolis July 7, 1932, to parents William O. and Nettie (Setera) Bradley. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a mechanical engineer designer for Rockwell International in Newport Beach, Calif., and International Totalizator in Carlsbad, Calif., for 30 years. He retired in 1994 and moved to Ely, where he was an avid woodcarver and outdoorsman.

He was preceded in death by his father, William O.

He is survived by his wife, Judy of Ely; sons Kevin (Bonnie) of Blaine, Minn., Mark (Cindy) of Vista, Calif., Jay (Robin) of Oceanside, Calif., and Mark of Carpinteria, Calif.; a daughter, Krista (David) Lynch of Kapaa, Hawaii; 10 grandchildren; brothers Marvin (Barbara) of Oceanside, and Jim (Carol) Bradley of Bloomington, Minn.; and his mother, Nettie Bradley of Oceanside.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Tuesday in United Methodist Church, Ely, the Rev. Dana Thompson officiating. Arrangements by Kerntz Funeral Home, Ely.

Linda J. Cowan
Linda J. Cowan, 50, of Deer River died Thursday, June 14, 2001, in Grand Rapids.
She is survived by her husband, Brian.
No services are planned at this time.

Alice E. Ollila
Alice E. Ollila, 86, of Virginia died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, in the Virginia Convalescent Center.
Visitation: Noon until the 1 p.m. service Tuesday in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Virginia. Burial in Town of Vermilion Lake cemetery in Vermilion Lake Township. Arrangements by Range Funeral Home, Virginia.

Charles "Grampa Charlie" Temple
Charles "Grampa Charlie" Temple, 85, of Kelly Lake died Thursday, June 14, 2001.
He is survived by sons Charles Jr. (Shelly) and Mark (Stephanie); daughters Susan (Harry) Mulner, Jean (Charles) Miller, Renee (John) Polcher; a sister, Mary Alice Doyle; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Monday in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. Interment in the Maple Hill cemetery, Hibbing.

Kathleen Ruth Brantner
Kathleen Ruth Brantner, 79, of Delta, Wis., passed away Friday, June 15, 2001.
Survivors include her husband, James A. "Jack" Brantner; daughters Linda K. Redmond, Therese J. Aden, Cecilia "Cea" (Frederick) Call and Kathleen (Terry) Gibson; sons John (Karen), Stephen, James and William (Traci); 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; relatives and friends.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Tuesday in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Ashland. Burial in St. Agnes cemetery, Ashland.

Gerald L. "Jerry" Burdick
Gerald L. "Jerry" Burdick, 45, of Hibbing died Thursday, June 14, 2001.
Survivors include his loving companion of the last 11 years, Periann Schedlbauer; a son, Paul Burdick; stepdaughter, Jennifer Schedlbauer; his mother, Ruby Burdick; four brothers; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Monday in First Assembly of God Church, Hibbing. Interment in Maple Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Anderson-Daniels.

Leo M. Youngs
Leo M. Youngs, 52, of Solon Springs died Thursday, June 14, 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Fran; sons Michael (April), Joseph (Lauren), Christopher, Daniel and David; daughters Becky (Delmis) Keen and Amanda; three grandchildren; his mother, Margaret Youngs; a sister, Marie (Tim) Rice.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Monday in Brown Funeral Home, Solon Springs. Mass of Christian burial 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Pius Catholic Church, Solon Springs. Interment in St. Pius cemetery.

Leo Walter Suominen
Leo Walter Suominen, 84, of Cloquet died Friday, June 15, 2001, in Carlton Nursing Home.
He was born April 26, 1917, in Cloquet to Kusta Selmi and Hilda Lydia (Karjala) Suominen-Laine. Leo married Jenny Sarine in 1946. Jenny passed away after 46 years of marriage Jan. 19, 1993. Leo was employed primarily as a carpenter and also for Civilian Conservation Corps from 1935-36, Camp 3707, Tuuli Greenland in 1955, the Cloquet Paper Mill, Conwed, and he also built several homes north of Cloquet on Highway 33. His hobbies included woodworking, cabinetry, golfing, fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his children, Wallace (Susan) Paarni, Caroline Elmer, Joyce (Lloyd) Layon and Susan (Mel) Soukkala; seven grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at Barr Brothers-Handevidt Funeral Home, Cloquet, (218) 879-4636. Family will receive friends during a time to share memories of Leo at a reception lunch 1 p.m. Monday in Cloquet VFW, 210 Arch St., Cloquet.

Dolores L. Dickson
Dolores L. Dickson, 85, of Chisholm, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001.
Survivors include a daughter, Dolores (David) Devyak; sons William Dickson, Larry Lund, Frank Foldesi, Thomas (Vi) Foldesi and James (Gladys) Foldesi; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and very special friend, Donna Kangas.
No services at Dolores' request. Arrangements by Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Chisholm.

William E. Heikkila
William E. Heikkila, 89, of Marine-on-St. Croix, formerly of Virginia, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, in the Presbyterian Home in Roseville.
Visitation: noon until the 1 p.m. service Saturday in Range Funeral Home, Virginia. Burial in Florenton cemetery. Arrangements by Range Funeral Home in Virginia.
