Rose Marie Marker
Rose Marie Marker of Two Harbors died Monday, June 18, 2001, in the Sunrise Home.
She was born to Matthew and Mary (Vertin) Majerle in Gilbert. She grew up and graduated from Gilbert High School in 1931, graduated from Eveleth Junior College in 1933 and attended Duluth Business University. She was an office worker for Kelley How Thomson in Duluth, during World War II at Wright Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, the Minnesota state grain office, state attorney's office, Reserve Mining from 1954 to 1956 and Montgomery Ward from 1956 to 1969. She married
Howard in 1942.
Rose was a member of the United Church in Two Harbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; brothers Anthony, Rudolph and Louie; and a sister, Christine.
She is survived by a sister, Angela Susnik of Gilbert and 35 nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be at Lakeview cemetery, Two Harbors. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.

Georgia Ann Meade, 72, of Grand Rapids died Thursday, June 14, 2001, in her home.

Lena Vercellino, 88, of Grand Rapids died Sunday, June 17, 2001, in the Leisure Hills Care Center, Grand Rapids.
Lena is survived by a niece, Peggy Mayo; and nephews Frank and Steven Vercellino.

Julia Klun
Julia Klun, 86, of Ely died Sunday, June 17, 2001, in the Ely-Bloomenson Hospital.
She was born March 18, 1915, in Rock Springs, Wyo., to parents, Joseph and Angela (Taucher) Pishler. She was a member of Lodge AFU 2 and SNPJ and spent much of her time caring for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton D. in Feb. 1999; her parents; and a brother, Joseph Pishler.
She is survived by a daughter, Gerry (Bernard) Petrich of Ely; sons Jerome (Harriet) of Potomac, Md., Philip (Marcia) of Madison, Wis., Robert (Cheryl) of Indianapolis, Ind., Larry (Judy) of Ely, Thomas P. (Margaret) of St. Paul and David (Carol) of Detroit; grandchildren Michael (Diana) Petrich, Curt Klun, Eric (Aida) Klun, Toinette Klun, Daniel (Christie) Klun, Sarah (Crawford) Jordan, Peter Klun, Jennifer (Ryan) Budek, Angela Klun, John Klun, Kelly Klun, Lauren Klun, Barbara Klun, Thomas A. Klun, Jeffrey Klun and Matthew Klun; and great-grandchildren Nicholas and David Petrich and Shalyn Budek.

Emil M. Mandich
Emil M. Mandich, 67, of Marble died Monday, June 18, 2001, in the Itasca Medical Center, Grand Rapids.
He was born Nov. 3, 1933, in Grand Rapids to Victor and Mary (Skorich) Mandich. He was a lifetime resident of the Calumet and Marble area. He was a retired licensed electrician at National Stell Pellet Co. in Keewatin. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union and the Coleraine Masonic Lodge. He married
Judy Anderson July 8, 1961, in Marble. He was a veteran, serving in the Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Robert William.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; a son, David of Marble; a daughter, Daidre (Robert) Breen of Marble; grandchildren Brooke and Benjamin Breen; brothers Peter (Florence) Mandich of Grand Rapids and Dan (Helen) Mandich of Cottage Grove, Minn.

Tommy Ray Conley
Tommy R. Conley, 22 of Finland died Saturday, June 16, 2001, while hiking near the Temperance River.
He is survived by his wife; daughters; extended family; church family and friends.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. today in Finland Recreation Hall, Cramer Road, Finland, and 11 a.m. Saturday in Alango School in Angora. Arrangments by Cavallin Funeral Home, Two Harbors.
Aune Yeager
Aune Yeager, 86, of Joliet, Ill., formerly of Chisholm, peacefully slept away Friday, June 15, 2001, in St. Joseph's Hospital in Joliet.
She was born Nov. 1, 1914, to Nickolai and Amanda (Swanborg) Haavisto in Alango Township. Her father died in 1922 and two years later her mother married
Emil Oikari and moved to Chisholm. She attended school in Chisholm and graduated from Chisholm High School in 1932. She continued her education at Hibbing Junior College.
She was a bookeeper at Pohjnen Buick until the start of World War II. She moved to Chicago and then to Port Alaghany, Pa., to manage the Greyhound Post House. Following WWII, she returned to Chicago and became the chief accountant and manager of Bell Parks Oldsmobile Agency, until her retirement in 1983.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Waino and Uno Haavisto; sisters Marion Carlson, Senia Appling and Helen Maki; two stepbrothers; five stepsisters; and a brother-in-law, Louis Charon.
Survivors include a son, Rodney (Carol) Yeager of Joliet; grandchildren Belinda (Richard) Newland and Paul (Mechele) Yeager, both of Joliet; a great-grandson, Cody Newland; a sister, Bertha Charon of Chisholm; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service: 2 p.m. Thursday in the Range Funeral Home in Virginia, Pastor Clarence Schnaffer officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial in Alango cemetery.

Joyce Marie Day, 52, of Nett Lake died Saturday, June 16, 2001, in her residence. She is survived by sons William "Bill" Day of Red Wing, Minn., Clyde Day of Duluth and Lawrence "Chick" Irving Jr. of Nett Lake; daughters Shawmarie Guelcher of Roseville, Minn., and Frances "Nikki" (Justin) Klakoski of Roseville, Minn.; her mother, Vera Belt of Nett Lake; 18 brothers and sisters; and four grandchildren.

Jacob "Jack" B. Marolt
Jacob "Jack" B. Marolt, 78, of Gilbert died Sunday, June 17, 2001, in his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; sons Richard (Cindy) and Daniel (Stephanie); daughters Margaret (Mark) Alexander and Theresa (Steve) Millen; five brothers; five sisters; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Oreo.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. today in Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home, Gilbert, and 9 until the 10 a.m. Funeral Mass Wednesday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Gilbert.
Lowell R. Sanner
Lowell R. Sanner, 73, of Babbitt passed away peacefully Saturday, June 16, 2001, at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 1, 1927, to Oscar and Clara Sanner in Lancaster, Minn. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1945. Lowell then served in the Army, stationed in Texas. From 1955 to 1959 he worked as a road construction engineer in Montana. In 1959, he began work as a diesel mechanic at Reserve Mining Co. in Babbitt, retiring in 1986 as foreman. He then worked at Rubber Research Elastomerics until the company closed.
He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Babbitt. Lowell enjoyed golfing and woodworking at which he was a great craftsman, even making grandfather clocks. He owned Sanner Security Systems in Babbitt.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Margaret "Peggy" (Vesel) Sanner; a daughter, Lisa (Todd) Kormanik of Lake Elmo, Minn., and his grandchildren, Joseph and Jessica. He is also survived by his brothers, Floyd, Glenn, Allen and Royce; and sisters Muriel Keil, Eunice Yakes and Carol Turner.
Lowell will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation and rosary: 7 p.m. Wednesday and service at 11 a.m. Thursday, all in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Babbitt, Father John Sustarsic as celebrant. Arrangements by Kerntz Funeral Home, Ely.

James R. Hochevar, 45, of Phoenix, formerly of Aurora, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001.
He is survived by his brother, Joe Hochevar of Aurora; a sister, Patricia (Lonnie) Baack of Minneapolis; and four nieces.

She is survived by sons Darby and Greg; a daughter, Patty (Chuck) Andria; a sister, Misha Jovanovich; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
