Warren D. Holt, 76, of Moose Lake died Thursday, July 5, 2001, in Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; sons Michael (Pat) of Philippi, W.Va., Jeff of Frostburg, Md., George (Becky) of Kettle River, Steve of St. Cloud, Minn., and Bradley of Mora; a sister, Helen (Gerard) of Rochester, N.Y.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake, and continues from 1 until the 2 p.m. service Monday in Moose Lake United Methodist Church, Moose Lake. Burial in Sunset Memorial cemetery, Moose Lake. Military rites by the Honor Guard of Nicholson-Sellgren VFW Post 2962 and Ken Nyquist American Vets Post 28 of Carlton.

Leigh Donald Senogles
Leigh Donald Senogles, 51, of Bovey died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, in St. Luke's hospital in Duluth.
He was born Aug. 6, 1949, in Red Lake, Minn., the son of Donald and Margaret (Gurneau) Senogles. He graduated from Greenway High School in 1969. Following graduation he began working for the Great Northern Railroad. He served in the Army for two years as a paratrooper in Germany. After the service he moved to Bovey. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 30 years. His work took him to various locations throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ricing and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by sons Chad, David and Kevin; brothers Bradley (Alberta) Senogles of Red Lake, Gene (Tamara) Senogles of Marble and Neil (Iris) Senogles of Bovey; sisters Renee Gurneau of Bemidji and Rochelle (Mitchell) Johnson of Bemidji; and five grandchildren.
Traditional service: Noon Monday in Little Rock Center, Red Lake, followed by funeral services at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Red Lake, the Rev. Pat Sullivan officiating. A wake begins Saturday afternoon in Little Rock Center and continues until the time of service on Monday. Interment in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery, Red Lake, under the direction of Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

Jean Stillwell
Jean Stillwell, 77, of Cloquet passed away July 5, 2001, in Interfaith Care in Carlton after a long illness.
She is survived by her children, Linda of Savannah, Ga., and Pamela of Cohasset, Mass.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church, 1000 Washington Ave., Cloquet. Family will receive friends following the interment services at Maple Grove cemetery, Cloquet. Audrey Beste
Audrey Beste, 67, of Ely Lake--Eveleth died Thursday, July 12, 2001, in Virginia Regional Medical Center. Audrey was born Jan. 29, 1934, to Arthur B. and Effie M. (Lorentzen) Magnuson in Miles City, Mont. She graduated from Eveleth High School and married James L. Beste on March 3, 1951, in Aitkin, and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family. The couple lived in Virginia briefly before settling in Fayal Township for the past 49 years. Audrey worked for the Virginia Sears Store prior to working at Range Cooperatives as an office manager, retiring in 1994.
Audrey was actively involved in organizations while her four children were growing up, serving on the Guardian Council of the Eveleth Chapter of Jobs Daughters. She was a Girl Scout leader for the Fayal Girl Scout Troop and was a project leader for the Fayal Township 4-H Club. She had also been a member of Virginia Reelers Square Dance Club and Ely Lake Homemakers.

She enjoyed the outdoors and animals at their cabin in Buyck, along with participating in activities with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Audrey is survived by her husband, James; children Lail (David) Michelson of Duluth, Bruce (Christine) Beste of Duluth, Gina (Arne) Wuorinen of Esko and Julie (David) Anderson of Pine City, Minn.; grandchildren Eric Beste, Corey, Keely and Tyler Beste, Brian and Greg Wuorinen and Brady and Ginny Anderson; a brother, Donald (Kathleen) Magnuson, of Ely Lake; an aunt, Mabel (Fred) Magnuson; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; and loving friends from the area and those who shared their winters with her in Texas.

She will be sadly missed by us all.
Visitation: 9 until the 10 a.m. service Tuesday in Range Funeral Home, Virginia. The Rev. Tab Baumgartner officiating. Burial in Forest Home cemetery, Buyck. The family asks that memorials be sent to the Virginia division of the Arrowhead Library System to purchase books. Arrangements by Range Funeral Home, Virginia.

Donna Kay (Vandenberg) Ashcroft
Donna Kay (Vandenberg) Ashcroft, 41, of Strand Road, Cloquet, formerly of Superior, died Wednesday morning, July 11, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born March 29, 1960, in Superior and lived in the Cloquet area for the past 20 years.

Mrs. Ashcroft was co-owner and operator of Upfront Hairstylists in Barnum for the past 10 years. She enjoyed crocheting, camping, fishing, gardening and four-wheeling. Donna had a unique zest for life and loved the outdoors, especially mud. After a courageous battle with cancer, she gained her wings at first dawn's light.

While residing in Superior, she had been a member of Zoar Lutheran Brethren Church.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jeric Ashcroft; and two brothers, Thomas and James Vandenberg.

She is survived by a son, Kyle (Mandy) Ashcroft, Hermantown; daughter, Shanda Ashcroft, also of Hermantown; her parents, Lloyd and Iva Vandenberg, Superior; a brother, Larry (Connie) Vandenberg, Superior; two sisters Judy (Bill) Williams, Maplewood, Minn., and Carol (Russ) Bottjer, Poway, Calif.; special friends, Brian Cummings and Jean Saylor, both of Cloquet; two sisters-in-law, Karen Vandenberg, Superior; and Kelly Vandenberg, Houston; and two grandchildren, Samantha and Jerrick Ashcroft.
Visitation: 10:30 until the 11:30 a.m. memorial service Monday in Downs Funeral Home, Superior, the Rev. Mark Holmes and the Rev. Jason Benjestorf officiating.

John R. Knudson
John R. Knudson, 84, of Hibbing died Friday, July 13, 2001, in Golden Crest Health Care Center, Hibbing.
Born in Stevenson Location on July 19, 1916, to John and Margaret (Olson) Knudson, he was an Army veteran of World War II and had worked at the Greenhaven school as a custodial engineer. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, VFW Post 8510, Sons of Norway and Italian American Club.

He is survived by his wife Jean; a daughter, Margaret Ann (Tom) Knutila of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Amy Hanson of Ashland, Ore.; a stepsister, Evelyn Witmer of Naperville, Ill.; a stepbrother Warren (Zalinda) Hanson of Antioch, Calif.; and grandchildren Keith, Courtney and Marc Knutila.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today with recitation of the rosary by Knights of Columbus at 7 p.m. in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. Service 11 a.m. Monday in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Hibbing, the Rev. Peter Muhich celebrating Mass of Christian burial. Pallbearers: Gary Carl Stark, Steve Skorich, Joe Gabardi and Marc Knutila. Honorary pallbearers: Gary Stark, Don Timpane and Armando Porfiri. Burial in the Maple Hill cemetery. Memorials preferred to the Blessed Sacrament Organ Fund.

Cecilia C. Cardoni
Cecilia C. Cardoni, 83, of Chisholm died Thursday, July 12, 2001.
Survivors include sons Vincent (Gail), Larry (Diane); six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Maurice Lacoursiere.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Monday in Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service Chapel. Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Chisholm. Interment in Chisholm cemetery.

Leo Marcus Martinez
Leo Marcus Martinez, infant son of Jose and Jeannie (Loons) Martinez of Cloquet, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.
He was born on July 9, 2001.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James B. Loons Sr.; and great-grandparents Angeline and Fred Simon Barney.

Leo is survived by his parents; his paternal grandparents, Daniel and Maria Martinez of Zacatecas, Mexico; his maternal grandparents, Donald and Catherine (Loons) Follett; and numerous aunts and uncles in Idaho and Minnesota.
Visitation: 11 a.m. until the 12:30 p.m. chapel prayers Tuesday in Wefelmeyer-Handevidt Funeral Home, 1506 Washington Ave., Cloquet, (218) 879-6741. Mass of Christian burial 1 p.m. Tuesday in Holy Family Catholic Church, 280 Reservation Road, Cloquet. Interment in New Holy Family cemetery.

May J. Ruparcich
May J. Ruparcich, 79, of Milwaukee, formerly of Chisholm, died Monday, July 9, 2001.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; a daughter, Georgine (Palmer) Sorenson; two grandchildren; a sister, Helen Lubotina; a brother, Louis (Lee) Samsa Jr.; nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 12:30 until the 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Chisholm. Interment in Chisholm cemetery. Arrangements by Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Chisholm.

Eino Verner Samuelson
Eino Verner Samuelson, 80, of Floodwood died Thursday, July 12, 2001, in Van Buren Township.
He was born March 16, 1921, in Blueberry Township to Herman and Hannah (Haverinen) Samuelson. Eino worked for Burlington Northern Railroad most of his life, retiring as a track inspector in 1982. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Floodwood. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sylvia in 1983; his son, Allen in 1984; brothers Nester, Alex, Leonard, Ed and Emil Richard; and sisters Lillian, Hilma, and Aili.

Eino is survived by daughters JoAnne Powell of Grand Rapids, Beverly (Bruce) Kjoberg and Joyce (John) Walsh, both of Floodwood; a brother, Onie (Vi) Samuelson of Menagha; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his special friend, Helen Repo of Duluth.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Monday in Hope Lutheran Church, Floodwood. Interment in Hope Lutheran cemetery.

James E. Parker
James E. Parker, 78, of Big Falls died Thursday, July 12, 2001, in Northern Itasca Health Care Center, Bigfork.
Survivors include his wife, Irene; daughters Janet Erickson, Betty Parker and Gwen Lumppio; a son, Ron (Barb) Parker; a sister, Harriet (Dan) Bode; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
