Jennie Y. Kuchera, 86, of Aurora died Wednesday, July 11, 2001.
She is survived by daughters Andrea (Wayne) Enquist and Susan (Pat) Naylon; five grandchildren; two brothers; a sister; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Olga Sampson.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. today with parish prayers at 6 p.m. and continuing from 9 until the 10 a.m. funeral Mass Saturday, all in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Aurora. Interment in Forest Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home, Aurora.

Ann Marie Truman
Ann Marie Truman, 76, of Aurora died Wednesday, July 11, 2001.
She is survived by her sons, James (Sharon), Don (Laura), Dale (Maribeth) and Gene (Emily); a daughter, Judith (Frank) Omersa; eight grandchildren; a brother; and a sister-in-law.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. today in Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home, Aurora, and continuing from 12:30 until the 1:30 p.m. funeral Mass Saturday in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Aurora. Burial in Forest Hill cemetery, Aurora.

David R. Stepan
David R. Stepan, 78, of Willow River died Wednesday, July 11, 2001.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. memorial service Saturday in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake, Pastor David Nelson officiating. Arrangements by Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home.

Margaret D. Bjellos
Margaret D. Bjellos, 71, lifelong resident of Hibbing, died Thursday, July 12, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.
She was born Jan. 27, 1930, in Carson Lake, Minn., the daughter of Samuel and Mary (Lagather) Bjellos. She graduated from Hibbing High School and went on to attend the Hibbing Junior College.

Margaret worked as a secretary for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., in Hibbing, Duluth and Beloit, Wis. She then worked as a secretary for Cleveland Cliffs Mining Co., from the mid-1960s until her retirement in 1995.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Peter; and a sister, Marion.

Margaret is survived by sisters Cenia (John) McNairy of Orange Park, Fla., Violet (Richard) Latvala of Nashwauk and Patricia Welte of Bemidji; brothers Eli (Maxine) Bjellos of Silver Spring, Md., James (Barbara) Bjellos, Gordon (Elaine) Bjellos of Hibbing and Michael (Shirley) Bjellos of Nashwauk; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Private family services will be held Saturday, the Rev. Dr. Lyle Rossing officiating. Interment in Maple Hill cemetery, Hibbing.

Sophie D. Evanoff
Sophie D. Evanoff, 76, of Grand Rapids, former longtime Bovey resident, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, in Itasca Medical Center, Grand Rapids.
Born June 11, 1925, in Bovey, she was the daughter of Mike and Sophie (Revoir) Dotlich. She grew up and attended schools in Bovey and had been a resident of Grand Rapids since 1968. Sophie and Christ Evanoff were married in Calumet.

A homemaker, she was a member of the Bovey Women of the Moose, Grand Rapids VFW Auxiliary, and a Grand Advantage Club Member.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Sophie Dotlich; an infant son; her husband, Christ; and a sister, Sylvia.

Survivors include a daughter, Pam (Lee) Smith of Grand Rapids; a son, George McKim of Grand Rapids; grandchildren Renee (Jim) Bergen of Washington, Sophie McKim of the Twin Cities and Lisa (Steven) Schaar of Cohasset; great-grandchildren Brittney and Danielle; a sister, Zorka Berger of Loves Park, Ill.; brothers Mirko, George (Ruth) and David, all of Bovey, Stephen of Tacoma, Wash., Marko of Omaha, Neb., and Don (Eve) of Georgia; an honorary sister, Elaine (Lloyd) Magestad of Bovey; special friends, Don, Jan and Tom; and honorary grandchildren, Adam and Amanda.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Monday in Peterson Funeral Chapel, Coleraine, the Rev. C. Arlin Talley officiating. Interment in Itasca-Calvary cemetery, Grand Rapids.

Charles R. "Chuck" Lothrop
Charles R. "Chuck" Lothrop, 87, lifelong Coleraine resident, died Thursday, July 12, 2001, in Itasca Medical Center, Grand Rapids.
Born April 9, 1914, in Coleraine, he was the son of Roy and Dora (King) Lothrop. He grew up in Coleraine and was a 1932 graduate of Greenway High School, where he was an excellent athlete with his interest and support of Greenway athletics never wavering. He attended Itasca Junior College and was a 1936 graduate of the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in business administration. After graduation he worked two years for the U.S. Rubber Co. in Minneapolis. In 1938, he became the personnel supervisor for Oliver Mining Co. (U.S. Steel) in Coleraine. Chuck and Julia Jaehning were married July 28, 1939, in Coleraine. In the 1940s, Chuck was promoted to superintendent of industrial relations for the Oliver's Canisteo District. With the closing of the Canisteo District in 1961, he was transferred to the MinnTac operations in the Virginia-Mountain Iron area. He was assigned the responsibility of the administration of U.S. Steel's Employee Benefit Program for their Minnesota operations. He retired in 1971.

Chuck was active in his hometown and the nearby area. He served six terms on the Coleraine City Council, including two terms as mayor. Over the years, Chuck was a member and officer in several organizations, including Canisteo and Itasca Lodges AF&AM;, First United Church of Coleraine and Bovey, Greenway Lions Club, Swan Lake Golf Course and Eagle Ridge Golf Course. His interest in the area youth was reflected by the many years he served as an officer for the District 316 Joint Recreation Board and West Range Arena, and as regional director of the Minnesota Amateur Hockey Association.

He enjoyed the outdoors, and when time and the season permitted, could be found fishing on "Big Winnie," in a duck blind, deer stand, wild rice field, fish house, blueberry patch, or an area golf course.

His parents, Roy and Dora Lothrop, and brothers, Bill in 1998, and Philip in 1986, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Julia; a daughter, Nancy (Mike) Mazzitelli of Eyota, Minn.; sons Jerry (Patricia) Lothrop of Plymouth, Minn., and John (Kathy) Lothrop of Lakeville, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. memorial service Saturday in Peterson Funeral Chapel, Coleraine, the Rev. C. Arlin Talley officiating. Interment in Lakeview cemetery, Coleraine.

Darold Schneller
Darold Schneller, 72, of Palisade died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, in Riverwood Health Care Center, Aitkin.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Saturday and continuing from 1 until the 2 p.m. service Sunday, all in Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin.

Theodore "Ted" Alva Ziegler
Theodore "Ted" Alva Ziegler, 92, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2001.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Teresa; children Ted (Pat) Ziegler Jr. of Plano, Texas, and Teresa (Dan) Bergan of Hibbing; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held on Saturday in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing.

Mary Kozar Owen
Mary Kozar Owen, 95, of Littlefork died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, in Littlefork Care Center.
She is survived by a son, Bob Owen; a daughter, Marie Hansen; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Sunday with vigil prayers at 6:30 p.m. in Green-Larsen Mortuary. Service at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Thomas Catholic Church, International Falls. Burial in St. Thomas Catholic cemetery. Arrangements by Green-Larsen Mortuary, Inc.

Robert Heikkila
Robert Heikkila, 89, of Virginia, formerly of Pike, Minn., died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, in Arrowhead Health Care Center, Virginia.
He was born March 23, 1912, in Waasa Township to Elias E. and Mary S. (Kojala) Heikkila. He grew up and attended school in Embarrass. On April 23, 1932, he was united in marriage to Elvira Maki in Virginia. Following marriage the couple lived in Embarrass, Pike, Butte, Mont., and Ely, prior to making their home in Pike Township.

He was a retiree of U.S. Steel and later had worked at the Cluett Peabody Shirt Factory in Virginia. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elvira; a son, John Robert Heikkila; a daughter, Vivian Lammi; seven sisters; three brothers; and his parents.

He is survived by a daughter, Diana "Judy" Anderson of New Brighton, Minn.; granddaughters Candace (Leslie) Holappa of Pike, Sheri (Richard Kwiatkowski) Lammi of McKinley, Susan (Scott Kuehn) Anderson of Anoka, Minn., and Kimberly (Bruce Moracle) Anderson of St. Francis, Minn.; grandsons Corey Anderson of New Brighton and Todd Anderson of Centerville, Minn.; great-grandchildren Shelley (Mark) Curtis, Kari Holappa, Brittany Durbin, Krystle Durbin, Danielle Lammi, Brianna and Carly Kwiatkowski, Kaitlin Anderson, Leslie Holappa Jr., Aaron Stafki and Cole Anderson; great-great-grandchildren Zachary and Kaitlyn Curtis; a brother, Art (Violet) Heikkila of Aurora; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Noon until the 1 p.m. service Saturday in Range Funeral Home, Virginia. Burial in East Pike cemetery.

Charles Hoffman, 82, of Donna, Texas, and formerly of Aitkin, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, in McAllen, Texas.
Memorial service: 3 p.m. Saturday in Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin.

May J. Ruparcich
May J. Ruparcich, 79, of Milwaukee, formerly of Chisholm, died Monday, July 9, 2001.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; a daughter, Georgine (Palmer) Sorenson; two grandchildren; a sister, Helen Lubotina; a brother, Louis (Lee) Samsa Jr.; nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 12:30 until the 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Chisholm. Interment in Chisholm cemetery. Arrangements by Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Chisholm.
