Kymberly Tholen Lehrke, 23, of Brainerd, formerly of Aitkin, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, in her home.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Monday in Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home and from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Tuesday in St. John's Lutheran Church, Aitkin, the Rev. David Becker officiating. Burial in Lakeview cemetery, Aitkin. Arrangements by Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin.

Raymond Vern Olson
Raymond V. Olson, 88, of Two Harbors died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, in the Sunrise Home.
He was born Aug. 11, 1913, to August and Tida (Teman) Olson in Two Harbors where he was a lifelong resident. During the Depression he was employed by the NRA in the BWCA on Lake Insula. Then he worked for the DM&IR; Railroad in the Store Department, retiring in 1973 after over 40 years of service. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Two Harbors, the AARP and a lifelong member of the Loyal Order of Moose. Ray loved spending time outdoors, cutting wood and hunting, at the cabin at Sand Lake and the shack at Westover.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Janice, twin of his son, Bruce; brothers George and Kenneth; sisters Florence Soderstrom, Myrtle Gardner, Dorothy and June Olson.

Ray is survived by his wife, Martha of Two Harbors; sons Bruce (Ginger) Olson and Gary (Tammi) Olson, all of Eagan, Minn.; a daughter, Sandra (Gene) Magnuson of Two Harbors; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Monday in Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Burial in Lakeview cemetery, Two Harbors. Memorials preferred to Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.

Richard C. Melgaard
Richard C. Melgaard, 71, of Bovey died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2001, in Meritcare Clinic, Walker, Minn.
Memorial service: 2 p.m. Tuesday in Libbey Funeral Home Chapel, Grand Rapids, with the Rev. Dennis Hier officiating.

Carl Brink
Carl Brink, 91, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at home in Ely of colon cancer.
Born Jan. 14, 1910, in Hibbing, he was a graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School and practiced law in Hibbing before moving to California. Prior to retirement, he worked for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. After the death of his first wife, Ellen, he divided his time between Paradise, Calif., and Ely with his second wife, Helen.

He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Helen (McReady) Brink; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Tony Palermo of Red Bluff, Calif., a daughter and son-in-law, Bernie and Gary Rossi of San Jose, Calif.; stepchildren Kate Furness and Doug (Nancy) McReady of Ely; grandchildren Mark Arnone of Chico, Calif., and Kristie Arnone of San Jose, Calif.; step grandchildren Sarah Furness and Bridget and Megan McReady and two step grandchildren, all of Ely; a sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Russel Moehrle of Minneapolis; several nieces and nephews.
There will be no service at his request. Memorials much appreciated to SMDC East Range Hospice Team, 1201 S. Eighth St., Virginia, MN 55792.

Anton Ole Rud Sr.
Anton Ole Rud Sr., 80, of Ranier died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, in International Falls.
He is survived by his wife, Selma; sons Michael, Anton Jr., Rodney and Timothy; daughters Virginia Olson and Debra Singler; and a sister, Alice Ness.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday with Masonic service at 7 p.m. in Green-Larson Mortuary. Funeral 10 a.m. Monday in Zion Lutheran Church, International Falls. Arrangements by Green-Larsen Mortuary Inc. of International Falls.

Susan M. Dobosenski
Susan M. Dobosenski, 92, of Willow River died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, in Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake.
She was born June 6, 1909, in Sturgeon Lake to Joseph and Marion (Terokowski) Betker. Susan was married to Joseph Dobosenski on June 3, 1929, in Sturgeon Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; a brother; two sisters; three half-sisters; and a half-brother.

Susan is survived by daughters Jeanette (Bernard) Katchmark of Sturgeon Lake, Eleanor (Leonard) Jurek of Columbia Heights and Leona Ladd of Wyoming, Minn.; sons Donald (Barb) Dobosenski of Carlton and Henry K. (Bonnie) Dobosenski of Blaine, Minn.; a brother, Joseph Betker of Minneapolis; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Sunday in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake, with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Willow River, Father Norm Pahl as celebrant. Burial in St. Isidore's Catholic cemetery, Sturgeon Lake. Arrangements by Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.

Agnes F. Yadon
Agnes F. Yadon, 70, of the Hawthorne area died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, in Rochester, Minn.
She is survived by sons Wayne, Jimmie, Ken, Steve, Keith and Kelly; daughters Charlotte and Connie; a brother; two sisters; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and great-great-step grandchildren.
Visitation: 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service Monday in Lakeside Baptist Church.

Raymond VanDuker
Raymond VanDuker, 66, of Meadowlands died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
He was born in Detroit to Paul and Sabrina (Sieczka) VanDuker and moved to this area in 1972. Self-employed as a truck driver, Raymond was very well-known in the area and was the former owner of the Rail Hub Tavern in Elmer.

He is survived by his wife, Martha; a sister, Loraine Cutlip; and five children. His surviving sons are Steven, Michael and James, and his daughters are Susan Woodcock and Nancy Makela.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. today and continues from 9 until the 10 a.m. service Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Meadowlands. Burial in Toivola cemetery. Arrangements by Johnson Mortuary.

Stephen Blomquist
Stephen Blomquist, 53, of Aitkin died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, in his home.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday with a 7 p.m. prayer service in Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral service 10 a.m. Monday in St. John's Lutheran Church, Aitkin.

Gregory A. Holm
Gregory A. Holm, 47, of Iron died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, in his residence.
He was born April 8, 1954, in Virginia, the son of Harvey and Hilda (Maki) Holm. He was a graduate of Virginia High School and attended two years of technical college. He was a salesman for Mac Tools and enjoyed hobbies which included music, restoring cars and racing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Steve.

He is survived by a niece, Erin (Jason) Engelke of Edmond, Okla.; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

George C. Degnan
George C. Degnan, 74, of Hibbing died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Marion; daughters Barbara (Pat) Garrity and Sue (Tom) McLaughlin; a son, George T. (Sandie) Degnan; a brother, Patrick (Jane) Degnan; sisters Shan (Arne) Puskala and Renna Webster; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today in Dougherty Funeral Home with parish wake prayers at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m. Saturday in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial in Maple Hill cemetery.

Dolores M. Blazina
Dolores M. Blazina, 71, Hibbing, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, in Leisure Hills Health Care Center, Hibbing.
She is survived by her husband, John; sons Tom and Jon; daughter Jane Kerr; his mother Ann Raukar; brothers Richard Raukar and Kenneth Rauker; and five grandchildren.
Visitation: 9 until the 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday in St. Leo's Catholic Church, Hibbing. Interment will be in Maple Hill cemetery. Arrangements are by Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing.

William Russel McMann
William Russel McMann, 74, of Park Rapids, Minn., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, in Innovis Hospital in Fargo, N.D.

Marion P. Hill
Centenarian
Marion P. Hill, 102, of Two Harbors died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, in the Lake View Home.
She was born Oct. 19, 1898, in Hurley to William H. and Alma (Trezona) Plummer. She grew up in Eveleth and Marble and graduated from high school in Coleraine in 1916. She graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., in 1920 with a bachelor's degree in education. She taught school in Two Harbors, Aho, Ariz., and Marble for a short time. She married Orrin "O.R." Hill in 1924 and they lived in Dawson, Minn., and Moorhead, Minn., before moving to Two Harbors in 1927.

Marion was a member of United Church of Two Harbors and a life member of the Emera Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, O.R. Hill, in 1965; a son, Richard, in 1999; and brothers Richard, William and Charles Plummer.

Marion is survived by daughters Nancy Setala of Hoyt Lakes and Judy (James) Dalton of Stone Mountain, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Hill of Massillon, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Monday in United Church in Two Harbors. Burial in Lakeview cemetery, Coleraine. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.
