MICHAEL W. "MIKE" COX
Michael W. "Mike" Cox, 57, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Pengilly, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in his home.
He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Cathy; daughter Michelle (Patrick) Longtin; son Darrin (Heather); his father, Winfred (Peggy); two brothers; and four grandchildren.
SERVICES: were held Tuesday in Faith Baptist Church, Grand Rapids. Burial with military honors in Itasca-Calvary cemetery.

ILEEN E. PINTAR
Ileen E. Pintar, 69, of Ely died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, in her home.
She was born Sept. 4, 1932, in Osage, Minn., to Alvin and Ella (Knaack) Olson. Her family moved to Hibbing, where she met and married the love of her life, Robert Pintar, on Sept. 24, 1955.

She was a member of Praise Fellowship Center for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Robert, on March 2, 2001.

Survivors include daughters Lynne (Ted) Nielsen of Ely and Debbie (John) Foy of Eveleth; sons Kenneth Pintar of Babbitt, Larry (Deb) Pintar of Nashwauk, Mike Pintar of Ely and James (Sonja) Pintar of Babbitt; a brother, Edward (Joyce) Olson of Hibbing; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Friday in Praise Fellowship Center, Pastor George Wick officiating. Burial to follow in Ely cemetery. Arrangements by Kerntz Funeral Home in Ely.

JOHN B. "JACK" BRANSTROM
John B. "Jack" Branstrom, 66, of Babbitt and Superior died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.
He was born Feb. 5, 1935, in Superior and graduated from East High School. He went on to attend St. Olaf College and then served in Taiwan with the Air Force.

John married Lauralie Luthanen on Aug. 18, 1962, and they settled in the Twin Cities where he worked for the IRS and then became a CPA. In 1973, he started his own accounting firm in Eveleth and lived there and in Babbitt for many years.

Though he enjoyed accounting work, John's true passion was for music, and all who knew him will forever remember his powerful voice. He was often a featured soloist at community events and church gatherings.

John was also very active in the Lutheran Church. During his lifelong commitment to his faith, he served as a Sunday school teacher, a confirmation mentor, choir member and soloist, as well as on numerous boards and committees. Through his faith in God, many lives, most notably those of youngsters, were touched.

John was a past potentate of Aad Temple Shrine in Duluth, where he was also a member of the Chanters, Clowns and DeMolay Dads. He was a past worshipful master of Ely Masonic Lodge, past worthy patron of the Eveleth Order of Eastern Star, and recipient of the DeMolay Legion of Honor and DeMolay Chevalier Degree. He served as chapter dad for the Alexander Hamilton Chapter of DeMolay and as guardian for Jobs Daughters Bethel 50. He was a past president of the Babbitt Lion's Club, and a member of the Eveleth Commandry and of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Duluth. In recent years he was most active in Mensa and Intertel.

Above all, John loved his family, and he is sadly missed by his wife of 39 years, Lauralie of Babbitt; daughter Siiri (Michael) Branstrom-Peters of Duluth; son Steven (Gail) of Babbitt; and grandchildren Linnea and Lucas Branstrom of Babbit and Ian Peters of Duluth. He is also survived by his mother, Evelyn of Edina, Minn.; brother Eugene (Virginia) of Edina; and sisters Kathy (Dale) Hanson of Edina and Jennifer (Steve) Glende of Minnetonka, Minn.
Visitation: 6 until the 7:30 p.m. Masonic service Thursday in Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th St., Superior. Service at 10 a.m. Friday in Concordia Lutheran Church, Superior. Inurnment service at a later date in Richfield, Minn.

ARTHUR WILLIAM GOTHARD
Arthur William Gothard, 93, of Silver Bay died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, in the Minnesota Veterans Home, Silver Bay.
He was born May 1, 1908, to Charles and Ida (Hemming) Gothard in Bigfork. He grew up in Hibbing, graduated from Hibbing High School and worked as a brakeman for the Great Northern Railroad. During World War II, he served in the railroad division of the Army in Europe. He moved to Ely in 1947, where he operated the Everett Lake Resort until moving to Silver Bay in 1969.

He was a member of the American Legion in Ely and AARP.

Art was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ailie in 2000.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
SERVICE: 1 p.m. Thursday in Hibbing Park cemetery Chapel, Hibbing. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home, Two Harbors.

EDMUND LAWRENCE KANE
Ed Kane, 80, of Silver Bay died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 7, 1920, to Harry and Sophie (Puckropp) Flemming in Minneapolis, grew up and attended schools in Sturgeon Lake, then served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the construction of Gooseberry Falls State Park. He worked in Butte, Mont., in the copper mines, then entered the Army, serving as a master sergeant in the Pacific Theatre, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He married Arlene Brabec on Nov. 20, 1948. After the war, he worked in construction in the building of Lake Vermilion Dam, then moved to Silver Bay where he worked for the former Reserve Mining Co. in pellitizer operations. He also worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in the maintenance department, where he was awarded the Bronze Vail Award for his rescue of people on Wilson Lake.

He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and St. Mary's Catholic Church. He had also served on the Silver Bay Fire and Rescue Department. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing cards, crosswords and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Theresa Jorgenson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Arlene; a son, Mark (Roxanne) Kane of Poulsbo, Wash.; a daughter, Karen (Charles) Erickson of Proctor; a sister, Agnes Zabaske of Willow River; a brother, Stan (Pat) Misukanis of Sturgeon Lake; grandchildren Kelsey Kane, Charles Erickson, Kelly Erickson and Brian Melde; his mother-in-law, Libbie Brabec; a niece, Susie Herzog; nephew, Chester Zabaske; and many friends.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Silver Bay. Burial in Sawtooth Mountain cemetery, Beaver Bay Township. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.

ELIZABETH "LIZ" "BETTY" G. HENDRICKSON
Elizabeth "Liz" "Betty" G. Hendrickson, 66, of Grand Rapids died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, in her home.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene; daughters Deborah Mull and Dorinda Card; her mother, Maria Brandt; two grandchildren.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. today with a wake service at 5:30 p.m. in Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids. Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grand Rapids. Burial in Itasca-Calvary cemetery, Grand Rapids.

ANN K. BENSON
Ann K. Benson, 89, of Cloquet passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, in Cloquet Nursing Home.
She was born March 13, 1912, in Cloquet to Ade and Selma Siiter. She graduated from high school and worked as a counselor at the Oregon State Hospital. She was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oregon. She married Arthur Benson.

Her husband, Arthur, and her parents preceded her in death.

Survivors include nieces Carole Siiter and June Siiter, both of Duluth.
AT ANN'S REQUEST no services will be held. Entombment in Park Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Williams-Lobermeier Funeral Home.

TREVOR WILLIAM WILDE
Trevor William Wilde, 8, of Coleraine died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis.
He is survived by his mother, Angie (Jeff) Boyd; his father, Bill Wilde; a sister, Heather Wilde; brothers Andrew Boyd, Alan Boyd and Chandler Boyd; maternal grandparents Esther and Doug Savage; and paternal grandparents Dottie and George Wilde.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Thursday in Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids. Service at 2 p.m. Friday in First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids. Burial in Lakeview cemetery, Coleraine. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

C.C. "BUSTER" MANDERS
C.C. "Buster" Manders, 83, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, in Littlefork.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Manders of Big Falls, Minn., and a daughter, Mary Stickler of Phoenix.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 3 p.m. Saturday in Evergreen cemetery, Big Falls. Arrangements by Green-Larsen Mortuary Inc. of International Falls.

DOROTHY ANNE MANN
Dorothy Anne Mann, 77, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, in Golden Crest Nursing Home.
She was born in New York on Nov. 8, 1923, and moved to Hibbing in 1980. She had worked for Bell Laboratories as an office administrator for many years. She was an air raid block warden during World War II and was a member and officer in the PTA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur C. Mann, in 1999; a sister, Catherine Smith; a brother-in-law, George Smith; and a stepsister, Margaret Garrity.

She is survived by her sons, Anthony Mann of Hibbing and Christopher Mann of West St. Paul.
PRIVATE SERVICES : 11:30 a.m. Friday in St. Leo's Catholic Church, the Rev. Clem Gustin, OSC, celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Burial in Maple Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home.

RALPH ORMAN RANDLE
Ralph Orman Randle, 87, of Devils Lake, N.D., formerly of Swatara and Aitkin, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, in Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Saturday in Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin, the Rev. Mark Marston officiating. Burial in Macville cemetery near Swatara. Arrangements by Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.
