JOANNE MARGARET "PEGGY" TAYLOR
Joanne Margaret "Peggy" Taylor, 70, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, in her home in Cape Girardeau, Mo., of cancer.
She was born in Cloquet in 1931, to Vaino and Lydia (Juntunen) Hella. She was a graduate of Cloquet High School and University of Minnesota Duluth, where she was active in theater. Peggy was married to Herb Taylor in 1952, and lived in Duluth and Worcester, Mass., before moving to Cape Girardeau. She was a volunteer for Women of Domestic Abuse, and taught English to adults and reading to children. Peggy loved books, her pets, and birds and flowers especially, and was a member of the Audubon Society. She was a loving mother and a homemaker and active in the Bahai faith.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mark; and brothers John, Kenneth and David.

She is survived by her husband, Herb; a son, Adam; daughters Lydia Mancini of Duluth and Sylvia Taylor Smith of Nederland, Colo.; a sister, Lois (Joseph) Pastika of Babbitt; four granddaughters; two grandsons; a sister-in-law, Mariam (John) Hella of Duluth; and numerous cousins.
SERVICES WERE HELD Oct. 13, 2001, in Ford Mortuary, Cape Girardeau.

WILLIAM M. "BILL" BOLDEN
William M. "Bill" Bolden, 58, of Hibbing died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, in Golden Crest Health Care Center, Hibbing.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; sons Daniel LeRoy Pew and Dale Lloyd (Ginger) Pew; daughters Marie (Carl) Anderson, Pamela and Judy; two brothers; two sisters; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Noon until the 1 p.m. service Friday in Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in Morcom cemetery.

MAYME MARIE NYNAS
Mayme Marie Nynas, 92, passed away on Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, in Pine Health Care Center, Sandstone, Minn.
She was born Sept. 7, 1909, to Adolph and Mary (Suutarivappu) Manginen in Buhl. She grew up and attended school in the Trout Lake area. On Sept. 5, 1926, she married Tauno Bergholm in Bovey. Following their marriage, they lived in Jacobson, Minn. They later moved to Duluth and then to several other towns before settling in Nickerson, Minn., and later Kerrick. Tauno Bergholm died Feb 17, 1967. She married John Nynas on Aug. 26, 1971, in Esko. They lived in Esko and later Carlton, where he died Oct. 7, 1975. Mayme continued to live in Carlton until 1988, when she moved to the Mighty Fortress Apartments in Hinckley. In February 1999, she moved to the Pine Health Care Center in Sandstone. Mayme was a cook and baker at logging camps in northern Minnesota, and later restaurants and bakeries in Duluth. She was also a homemaker.

She was a member of the Nickerson Presbyterian Church in Nickerson, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Ladies' Aid. She later was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hinckley.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; her children, Ida Bergholm, Betty Relander and Bernyce Johnson; sisters Lydia Manginen, Ann Laakso, Jean Grytness and Hulda Nynas; and a brother, John Manginen.

She is survived by her daughter, Bea (Joe) Drilling of Sandstone; grandchildren Jenny Roland of Rockford, Ill.; David Johnson of Franklin, Tenn., Mark Johnson of Rockford, Armen Relandar of Kerrick, and Jessi and Ben Drilling, both of Sandstone; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl Manginen of Trout Lake; sisters Faye Elickson and Helga Savolainen, both of Duluth; sons-in-law Richard Johnson of Rockford and Carl Relander of Kerrick; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and friends.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today in Methven Funeral Home, Sandstone and continues from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Wednesday in First Presbyterian Church, Hinckley, the Rev. Kevin Carr officiating. Interment in Nickerson Community cemetery, Nickerson.

FRANK M. UDOVICH
Frank M. Udovich, 92, of Chisholm died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Ann (Dr. John) Malensek; a son, Dr. Frank T. Udovich; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many close relatives and friends.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Wednesday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Chisholm. Interment in Chisholm cemetery. Arrangements by Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Chisholm.

RONALD D. ALLAN
Ronald D. Allan, 60, of rural Bovey died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, in his home.
He was born Sept. 5, 1941, to Archibald and Martha (Hall) Allan in Baxter, Iowa, where he graduated from high school in 1959. In 1960, he enlisted in the Army and was also united in marriage to Marietta Lilgreen on Nov. 4, 1960, in Salinas, Calif. While in the service, he was a rifle coach in the Colorado School of Mines and a ROTC instructor. He was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War, retiring as a master sergeant in 1980. In 1981, he was a maintenance supervisor in Leisure Hills Care Center, retiring in 1999.

He was instrumental in setting up Wildwood Township, serving on the board. He also served on the Itasca County Township Association. He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and served as a trustee. He was a member of the Minnesota Emu Growers Alliance and American Emu Association, where he was a former board member.

He is survived by his wife, Marietta; daughters Shelly (Rick) Espeland of Des Moines, Iowa, and Kay (Harlan) Berg of Ogilvie, Minn.; sons Ty (Denise) and Michael (Corrine) Allan, both of Hibbing; a sister, Patricia (Keen) Fideldy of Grand Rapids; his mother, Martha Schack of Grand Rapids; and 13 grandchildren.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. today in Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids. Service at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Community Presbyterian Church, Grand Rapids, the Rev. Peter Nord officiating. Burial with full military honors in Harris cemetery, Harris Township, Minn. Memorials are preferred to Community Presbyterian Church, Grand Rapids. Arrangements by Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids.

FLORENCE J. BURAN
Florence J. Buran, 93, of Iron River passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in St. Luke's hospital, Duluth.
She is survived by five sons; two daughters; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and continues from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Thursday in Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Iron River. Interment in Iron River City cemetery. Arrangements by Frost Home for Funerals, Ashland.

BARBARA BEEBE
Barbara Beebe, 91, of International Falls died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in International Falls.
Survivors include a sister, Cynthia Schultz; and nieces and nephews.
SERVICE: 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Columban's Catholic Church, Littlefork. Burial in Oakley cemetery, Littlefork. Arrangements by Green-Larsen Mortuary, Inc.

ADELINE L. TAN
Adeline L. Tan, 77, of Cloquet, formerly of Esko, died in Cloquet Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, after an extended illness.
She was born on Aug. 24, 1924, in Cloquet to Edward and Ingrid (Hallback) Tan. Adeline was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was involved in the Thomson Township Historical Society and Esko Senior Center. Adeline was a very accomplished seamstress and artist, and she also enjoyed reading.

She is survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation: Noon until the 1 p.m. Thursday service in Barr Brothers-Handevidt Funeral Home, 900 Washington Ave., Cloquet, (218) 879-4636. Following the service, refreshments will be served in the funeral home fellowship area. Private family interment in Apostolic cemetery, Esko.

CARL T. FLOGSTAD
Carl T. Flogstad, 88, of Grand Rapids died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, in Itasca Nursing Home, Grand Rapids.
Survivors include a sister, Alyce Larson of Pelican Rapids, Minn.; and a brother, Marvin Flogstad of St. James, Minn.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Thursday in Libbey Funeral Home, Grand Rapids. Burial in Round Lake cemetery, McGregor. Arrangements by Libbey Funeral Home, Grand Rapid, (218) 326-4000.

KEITH E. HERTEL
Keith E. Hertel, 75, Grand Rapids died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001.
Born July 30, 1926, in Todd County, Minn., he was the son of Everett and Edna (Laird) Hertel. He grew up in the Pengilly area, was a 1944 graduate of Greenway High School and lived most of his life in Grand Rapids. Keith and Betty Jane Harwood were married on Aug. 17, 1947, in Grand Rapids. Keith worked at the Blandin Paper Co. for 39 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Blandin Quarter Century Club and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2469 of Grand Rapids.

His parents Everett and Edna Hertel; and his wife, Betty Jane on July 15, 2000, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his sons, Terry A. Hertel of Simi Valley, Calif., and Barry (Bonnie) Hertel of Grand Rapids; a daughter, Penny (Donald) Pangburn of Somers, Mont.; grandchildren Ion and Jami Jo Trembath, and Justin Gillespie; a great-grandson, Brenden Taylor Gillespie; brothers Kenneth (Jan) Hertel of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Duane (Marilyn) Hertel of Bella Vista, Ark.; and a sister, Karen Chimento of Wabasha, Minn.
SERVICE: 11 a.m. Thursday in First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids. Interment in Itasca-Calvary cemetery, Grand Rapids. Arrangements by Peterson Funeral Chapel, Coleraine.

THE REV. ROGER GENE SCHELINDER
The Rev. Roger Gene Schelinder, 59, of Grand Forks died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, in his home.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; a daughter, Roxanne Schelinder; sons Jeffrey (Kristi) and Christopher (Stephanie); three grandchildren; a step-grandchild; sisters Rosalie (Richard) Fish, Darlene (Orrin) Haugen and Mary (Robert) White; and brothers Donald and Delmar (Ruthanne).
Visitation: noon until the 1 p.m. service today in Downs Funeral Home. Interment in Sandy Lake cemetery.

OSCAR SCHULTZ
Oscar Schultz, 85, of Grand Rapids died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, in Itasca Medical Center, Grand Rapids.
He is survived by his wife, Angie; a son, Roger Schultz; a daughter, Nancy Sauer; brothers Albert, Ferdinand and Chester Schultz; and four grandchildren.
Visitation: 1:30 until the 2 p.m. service Wednesday in Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids.

RICHARD E. HIPSAG
Richard E. Hipsag, 53, of Pengilly died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in Itasca Medical Center, Grand Rapids.
Born Oct. 5, 1948, in Elk River, Minn., he was the son of Arthur and Verona (Kastendick) Hipsag. He grew up in Elk River and attended Elk River schools and Hibbing Community College. He was a heavy equipment operator for St. Louis County for 20 years and previously had been a mechanic for E.W. Cooms, Simons Trucking and Cummins Diesel. A Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he also served with the Army National Guard in Chisholm, was a member of VFW Post 8831 of Pengilly, American Legion and Teamsters Local 320, where he served as a steward.

His grandparents, Frank and Elizabeth Hipsag, and Julius and Ida Kastendick preceded him in death.

Survivors include a son, Ricky (Shaundell) Hipsag of Pengilly; daughters Robin (Rocky) Chisholm of Eveleth and Rachael (Jeramey Olson) Hipsag of Marble; grandchildren Maggie and Lauren Hipsag, and Makenzie and Dylan Olson; his parents, Arthur and Verona Hipsag of Elk River; brothers Gary Hipsag of Elk River and Bob (Sue) Hipsag of Alliance, Neb.; a sister, Sandy Lovett of Hampton, Ga.; an aunt, Matilda Dobesh of Roseville, Minn.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today in Peterson Funeral Chapel, Coleraine and continues from 10 until 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Wednesday in Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Coleraine. Interment in Minnesota State Veterans cemetery, Little Falls, Minn.
