George Lloyd LaDuke
George Lloyd LaDuke, 76, of Floodwood died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, in Leisure Hills Care Center, Grand Rapids.
He is survived by his sons, Roger (Carol) LaDuke and Rick (Donna) LaDuke; a stepdaughter, Barb (Gerry) Olson; a brother, Roy LaDuke; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Monday in Rowe Funeral Home Chapel, Floodwood. Burial in Itasca-Calvary cemetery, Grand Rapids.
Angeline "Angie" P. Bignall
Angeline "Angie" P. Bignall, 76, of Grand Rapids died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, in Leisure Hills Care Center, Grand Rapids.
She was born July 14, 1925, to Henry and Mary (Giehtbrock) Froembgen in Calumet, where she grew up. She graduated from Greenway High School in 1943 and from the Hibbing Cadet Nurse Corps in 1946. In the 1950s she returned to school in Hibbing and gained her registered nurse certificate. Angeline then worked as a nurse at Itasca Medical Center, Itasca Nursing Home, Itasca County Public Health and Deer River Community Hospital.
Angeline was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church since 1940 and a member of the St. Anthony Circle for many years. She also served as a den mother with the Cub Scouts and as a Bluebird leader.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Duane, in 1995; six sisters; and a brother.
She is survived by a daughter, Peggy (Edward) Schagh of Grand Rapids; a son, Barney (Janet) Bignall of Grand Rapids; grandchildren Dawn "Midge" Johnson and Kyle Johnson, both of Minneapolis, Brian Bignall of Bemidji, Paul Bignall of Hudson, Wis., and Christopher Bignall of Grand Rapids; and a great-grandson, Hunter Erickson.
Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Sunday in Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids. Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grand Rapids, the Rev. Father Thomas Radaich officiating. Burial in Itasca-Calvary cemetery, Grand Rapids.

Russell Vail, 87, of Bigfork died Wednesday, July 18, 2001.

Egnar Leonard Johnson
Egnar Leonard Johnson, 85, of Port Wing died Sunday, July 15, 2001, in Northern Lights Nursing Home, Washburn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 18 brothers and sisters. He was the last remaining sibling.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Myrtle Porter Isham
Myrtle Porter Isham, 91, of Seattle, formerly of Nett Lake, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, in Seattle.
She is survived by her sisters Viola Villebrun, Josephine Chavers and Dorothy (Donald) Glende, all of Nett Lake; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation after 4 p.m. today in Nett Lake Community Center, where funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday. Interment in Bois Forte cemetery. Arrangements by Mlaker Funeral Home, Cook.

Fred Charles Beton, 86, of Gilbert died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, in Eveleth Health Services Park, Eveleth.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; sons Gerald and Thomas; brothers Edward and William (Carol); sisters Mary and Pauline Beton; and many nieces and nephews.

William Janke Jr.
William Janke Jr., 80, of Wascott died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001.
Survivors include sons Bill III (Christine), Jeffrey (Sandy) Janke, David (Marg) Janke and Kurt Janke; daughters Shirley (David) Walters, Lorresa (Mike) Kelley and Sandy (Anthony) Koleno; 25 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Janke; and a sister, Gertrude (Clarence) Warmoski.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Monday in Brown Funeral Home, Minong, where a celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment in the Wascott cemetery.
Alice F. Evans
Alice F. Evans, 88, a longtime resident of Aurora died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, in Rose of Sharon Manor, Shoreview, Minn.
She was born Nov. 10, 1912, in Winfield, Kan., to John and Katharine Handley. Alice graduated from high school in Eureka, Kan., and worked in Tulsa, Okla. She married
Thomas Evans on Jan. 12, 1943, in Eureka and moved to Aurora. Alice was a homemaker, a baby nurse and was well-known for her work as a seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Thomas, in 1991.
Alice is survived by a daughter, Barbara Evans of Shoreview; a brother, Dwight (Betty) Handley of Wichita, Kan.; granddaughters Mira and Trisha of Shoreview; and a host of friends.
Celebration of Alice's life: 2 p.m. Tuesday, in Aurora United Methodist Church, the Rev. Ruth Gangloff officiating.

Edna 0. Ruter, 76, of Grand Rapids died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001. Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Hendrickson; a sister, Mildred (Richard) Johnson; brothers Helmer and Everett Burres.

Ronald James Nyberg
Ronald James Nyberg, 55, of Wrenshall died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at the DVA Medical Center in St. Cloud, Minn.
He was born Sept. 26, 1945, in Duluth. He was raised in West Duluth and served with the Navy in Vietnam from 1963-1966. He was united in marriage to Deborah on March 26, 1982, in Watertown, S.D. He was a journeyman sheet metal apprentice and worked for A.W. Kuettel and Northwest Specialty Contractors. Ron attended the University of Minnesota Duluth and the U of M, and received certification as a chemical dependency specialist. He worked as interim director and counselor at Douglas County Receiving Center from 1974-1975. He then owned Shepherd's Cleaning System from 1975-1995.
He served as director of bus ministry for the House of Hope Assembly of God, a foster parent for Carlton County, and was a Wrenshall resident since 1985.
Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary (Cashin) Sutton; and a brother, Roger.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; a son, Chris (Wendy) of Wrenshall; grandchildren Alisha and Colt; a brother, Rod Sutton of Duluth; sisters Rochelle Sommer of Duluth, Karen Gunderson of Elk River, Debbie (Dan) Lorenz of Duluth and Rebekah Bergstrom of Duluth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 1 until the 3 p.m. memorial service Sunday at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet, the Rev. Mike Keller officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Lockwood and Dick Kelly. Inurnment services will follow at the Silverbrook cemetery in Wrenshall with military honors presented by the Nicholson-Sellgren VFW Post 2962 of Carlton. Luncheon will then follow at the Silverbrook Town Hall in Wrenshall. Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet.

Susan E. Kirchner, 44, of Grand Rapids, Minn., died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, in Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
She is survived by her mother, Gloria Kirchner Bertram of Cohasset, Minn.; her fiance, Richard Higginbotham; daughters Erica Sharbonda, Sydney Holcomb and Jennifer Lutterman; a son, Jesse Pierson; sisters Maria Nenita Wright, Anita Ann Drew, Kay Watson, Bonnie Hilts, Renee Anduze; brothers Michael and Ronald Bertram; three grandchildren.

VINTON "BINK" GOWELL
Vinton "Bink" Gowell, 82, of Hill City, formerly Mora and Minneapolis, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, in the Itasca Medical Center, CNC Unit, Grand Rapids.
Survivors include sons Dennis (Patti) and Mike (Yvonne) Gowell; daughters Pat (Larry) Fillbrandt, Nanci Blanchard and Suzie (John) Mueller; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene (Gerald) Johnson; and a brother, Ronald (Mavis) Gowell.
