Charlotte W. Lerohl, 81, of Virginia died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, in Virginia Convalescent Center.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral Saturday in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Virginia. Burial in Greenwood cemetery, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Arrangements by Range Funeral Home, Virginia.

DAVID VICTOR ANKARLO
David Victor Ankarlo, 83, of Two Harbors passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001.
He was born April 1, 1918, to Victor and Hannah (Svensson) Ankarlo in Superior. He served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. David sailed on the Great Lakes for several years then joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union in Duluth and Superior. He was a thoroughbred horse owner and trainer, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved spending time with his family.

David is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren.
Visitation: 11 a.m. until the noon service Saturday in Cavallin Funeral Home, Two Harbors. Burial in Lakeview cemetery, Two Harbors.

ELVE A. SIMONS
Elve A. Simons, 82, lifelong resident of Chisholm died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, in Mesabi Nursing Home, Buhl.
She is survived by a niece, Sharlee Schaafs; nephews Terry and James Mattson; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

DR. FREDERICK H. WALTER, M.D.
Dr. Frederick H. Walter, M.D., 82, of Dubuque, Iowa, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001.
Survivors include sons Thomas (Shannon MacEachern) and Frederick Walter, and Nels (Betsy) Wangensteen; daughters Anne (Box) Molyneaus, Hope Walter and Margo (Harry Swendsen) Walter; and a brother.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today in Green-Larsen Mortuary Inc., International Falls. Service at 11 a.m. Friday in Zion Lutheran Church, International Falls. Burial in Forest Hill cemetery.

DOROTHY BEATRICE (LIND) JANKE
Dorothy Beatrice (Lind) Janke, 85 of Alborn died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
Dorothy was born in Minneapolis June 13, 1916, to Fred and Anna (Savage) Lind. She was a lifelong resident of Alborn. She married William C. Janke Feb. 28, 1943. They were married for 58 years until his death April 25, 2001. Dorothy was a retired cook from Miller-Dwan, a home health aide and a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Saginaw.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Ellsworth Lind; and a sister, Laura Rathe.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Harold (Margaret) and William E. (Wendy) both of Alborn, Howard (Ruth) of Esko and Ellwyn (Delores) of Saginaw; daughters Joan (Myron) Ugstad, Lois (John) Larson and Alice (Raymond) Larson, all of Alborn; brothers Fred Lind and Curtis (Darlene) Lind, both of Saginaw, and Morrie (Helen) Lind of Duluth; sister, Jenny (Merlin) Baublitz of Proctor; brothers-in-law Howard (Esther) Amborn of Minneapolis and Ronald (Karen) Amborn of Saginaw; sister-in-law, Selma Arbuckle of Saginaw; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was known for her wonderful smile. She had a way of cheering up everyone around her.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m. today in Barr Brothers-Handevidt Funeral Home, 900 Washington Ave., Cloquet, 879-4636, continuing from 1 until the 2 p.m. service Friday in St. John's Lutheran Church, Saginaw. Interment in St. John's cemetery, Industrial Township.

ERNEST "BUD" NEWBLOOM
Ernest "Bud" Newbloom, 71, of Moose Lake died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake.
He is survived by sons Steven of Cloquet and Tom "Dean" of Portland, Ore.; daughters Roxanne Kirk of Bemidji and Christy Newbloom of Norwood, Minn.; brother Tom (Joyce) Newbloom of Moose Lake; sisters Lorraine Brown, Marian Folsted and Eleanor Dockal, all of Moose Lake, Joyce Thompson of Poplar, Delores (Ambrose) Jusczak of Moose Lake, Shirley (Lucerne) Lake of Moose Lake and Barbara Sobczak of Hermantown; 12 grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. today in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake, and continuing from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Friday in Evangelical Covenant Church, Moose Lake, the Rev. Todd Van Zee officiating. Burial in Riverside cemetery, Moose Lake.

PASTOR ARNOLD B. ANDERSON
Pastor Arnold B. Anderson, 91, went to be with the Lord he served so faithfully on Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospice.
He was born in Marshland, Ore., on July 18, 1910. He worked in the lumber industry and fished for salmon in the Columbia River until the Lord called him to be a fisher of men. He attended Smith Business College and Everett Bible School in Seattle. He entered Suomi College in Hancock, Mich., in 1938 and graduated from the seminary in 1941. On July 12, 1941, he married Helvi Staudinger of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Canada. In September 1941, he became pastor of the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Esko and served there for 17 years. He also served the Berean Lutheran Church in Virginia for 19 years. His weekly English/Finnish radio outreach, "The Golden Hour," began in 1943 and continued for 51 years. He established the Lutheran Publishing House in Esko which printed catechisms, song books, hymnals and the monthly Golden Hour Newsletter.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a grandson, Jason Anderson; a brother; and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years; daughters Sharon (William) Finn of Fond du Lac, Wis., and Saundra (Donald) Singh of Apple Valley, Minn.; sons Darrell (Brenda) Anderson of Lebanon, Okla., David (Claudia) Anderson of Stoughton, Wis., and Daniel (Maureen) Anderson of Lanesboro, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday and continues from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Saturday, all in Apostolic Lutheran Church, 25 Church Road, Esko, Pastor Gary Kangas officiating. Arrangements by Hegstrom Family Funeral Homes, Foley Chapel, 624-4838.

QUINLAN THOMAS OLSON
Quinlan Thomas Olson, infant son of Duane and Vera Olson of Two Harbors, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.
He was born Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001.

Quinn was preceded in death by his twin sister, Michaele Mae, on Nov. 26, 2001.

In addition to his parents, Quinn is survived by sisters Caitlin and Amanda; grandparents Eslie and June Pratt; and Tom and Diane Olson, all of Two Harbors; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

God gives us many gifts and we thank Him for our precious time with Quinn.

FRANCES K. RANDALL
Frances K. Randall, 62, of Cotton died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 25, 1939, to Frank and Amy (Fitzgerald) Poster in Eveleth. Frances grew up in Melrude and attended school in Cotton. On March 22, 1958, she married Floyd Randall in Eveleth. They made their home in Cotton. Frances was a housewife, mother and grandmother. She was a lookout tower-firewatcher, a store clerk for Randall Brothers, a clerk at the Cotton Bottle Shop, a dental and hearing assistant for the Cotton Dental Clinic and a real estate agent for East-West Realty of Duluth.

Her parents and an infant brother preceded her in death.

Frances is survived by her husband, Floyd; daughter Wendi (James Davey) Randall of Oakdale, Minn.; sons Tim Randall of Cotton and Terry (Dawn Dickson) Randall of Fridley, Minn.; sisters Marna (Dick) Murphy of Alborn, Candace (Melvin) Etter of Iron and Dorothy Roskga of Ninilchik, Alaska; a brother, Alan Poster of Eveleth; and grandchildren Jason, Krissy, Melissa, Laura and Zachary Randall.

A special thank you to Robin Soderlund, Susan Skafte and Janice Wendell.
NO SERVICES will be held, as per Frances' wishes.

Duane L. Nordby, 68, of Mountain Iron died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
Visitation: 9 until the 11 a.m. service Tuesday in Messiah Lutheran Church, Mountain Iron. Burial in Menahga cemetery, Menahga, Minn. Arrangements by Range Funeral Home, Virginia.

ESTHER C. REIMER
Esther C. Reimer, 94, of Virginia, formerly of Canyon, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, in Virginia Convalescent Center.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Friday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Canyon. Burial in Northland cemetery, Canyon. Arrangements by Range Funeral Home, Virginia.

Vergil L. Sanford of Minong died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, in his home.

ELSABETH F. AMIDON
Elsabeth F. Amidon, 86, of Aitkin, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, in Riverwood Extended Care Center in Aitkin.
