FRANCES K. RANDALL
Frances K. Randall, 62, of Cotton died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 25, 1939, to Frank and Amy (Fitzgerald) Poster in Eveleth. Frances grew up in Melrude and attended school in Cotton. On March 22, 1958, she married
Floyd Randall in Eveleth. They made their home in Cotton. Frances was a housewife, mother and grandmother. She was a lookout tower-firewatcher, a store clerk for Randall Brothers, a clerk at the Cotton Bottle Shop, a dental and hearing assistant for the Cotton Dental Clinic and a real estate agent for East-West Realty of Duluth.
Her parents and an infant brother preceded her in death.
Frances is survived by her husband, Floyd; daughter Wendi (James Davey) Randall of Oakdale, Minn.; sons Tim Randall of Cotton and Terry (Dawn Dickson) Randall of Fridley, Minn.; sisters Marna (Dick) Murphy of Alborn, Candace (Melvin) Etter of Iron and Dorothy Roskga of Ninilchik, Alaska; a brother, Alan Poster of Eveleth; and grandchildren Jason, Krissy, Melissa, Laura and Zachary Randall.

VEIKKO HENRY MAKI
Veikko Henry Maki, 84, of Buhl died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, in Virginia Convalescent Center.
He was born Oct. 14, 1917, to Henry and Maria (Anttila) Maki in Jappila, Finland. On Nov. 5, 1920, he moved to Buhl, where he attended school. Following school, he entered the Army, serving from 1941-1945 as a medic in Hawaii. On Oct. 4, 1947, he was united in marriage to Elsie Hill. Veikko had worked for the Oliver Mining Company, the Sherman Mine, J&L; Mining Company, and retired from the Reserve Mining Company.
Veikko had been a member of the American Legion for more than 60 years, the VFW of Kinney, Board of Directors of the First Lutheran Church of Buhl, Kinney Volunteer Fire Department, Kinney Village Council trustee and Buhl-Kinney Senior Citizens Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, netting and repairing nets. He especially enjoyed attending "Holy Smoley" with family and friends, and making people laugh with a joke or two.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elsie; and a sister, Leah Leone.
Survivors include his sons, Bob (Phoebe) Maki of Cotton and Ken (Donna) Maki of Kinney; daughter Sharon "Toni" (Terry) Swanson of Angora; grandchildren Tammy (Nathan Peterson) Maki of Cherry, Tim Maki of Nevada, Mo., David (Adrienne Beito) Maki of Mountain Iron, Dustin and Daniel Swanson of Angora, and Ashley Swanson of the University of Chicago, Ill.; great-grandchildren Spencer and Andrew; brothers Leo (Elda) and Tapio Maki, both of Buhl; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Noon until the 1 p.m. memorial service Wednesday in First Lutheran Church, Buhl, the Rev. Reuben Rosnau officiating. Burial in Buhl cemetery with military honors accorded by the Buhl Color Guard Post 8510 of Hibbing. Arrangements by Range Funeral Home, Virginia.
MARVIN J. HANSEN
Marvin J. Hansen, 72, of Calumet died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, in Itasca Medical Center, Grand Rapids.
Born July 24, 1929, in Underwood, Minn., he was the son of Rudolph J. and Bertha (Anderson) Hansen. He attended schools in Park Rapids and had been a Calumet resident since 1957. He was a blaster for LTV Steel from 1957 to 1989 and a member of United Steelworkers 1437, having served as its president and vice president. He was a member of the Greenway Snowmobile Club and the Bovey Moose Lodge 1061. An Army veteran, he was also a member of the Hibbing VFW and the Taconite American Legions Posts and had served as mayor of Calumet from 1964 to 1979.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Bertha Hansen; children Jean and Kathleen Hansen; and brothers Norman and Linus Hansen.
Survivors include Gen Hansen of Hibbing; children Cheryl Burns of Grand Rapids, Nick (Jill) Hansen of Grand Rapids and David (Julie) Hansen of Calumet; grandchildren Nathan (Rory) Burns, Tiffany Burns, and Jayson, Josh, Jennie and Nicole Hansen; great-grandchildren Keaghan and Karsyn Burns and Leah Madsen; brothers Glorian of Estacada, Ore., Kenneth of La Pine, Ore., and Roger of Minneapolis; and sisters Gloria Esser of Park Rapids and Inez Kusi of Marble.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Thursday in Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Coleraine. Interment in Lakeview cemetery, Coleraine. Arrangements by Peterson Funeral Chapel, Coleraine.
TIMOTHY WILLIAM MADIGAN
Timothy William Madigan, 46, of Grand Rapids died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in his home.
He is survived by his mother, Joan Madigan; sons Jason, James, Timothy and Sean Madigan; a sister, Connie Vadner; brothers William, Thomas and Joseph Madigan; and two grandchildren.

RAYMOND J. "BOZE" POLITANO
Raymond J. "Boze" Politano, 80, of Hibbing died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, in Golden Crest Health Center.
He was born in Kitzville, Minn., to Ralph and Josephine (Spinelli) Politano on May 29, 1921, and was a lifelong Hibbing area resident. Boze was a disabled American veteran having been wounded in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II. In his younger days, Boze liked to race cars and was an accomplished horseshoe thrower. He was a member of VFW Post 8510.
Boze was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Robin Politano; sisters Rose and Gloria; a brother, Philip; and former wife, Joyce Sesvold.
He is survived by his daughters, Toni Hydukovich, and Frankie and Jackie Politano, all of Hibbing; son Jeffrey; a brother, Ralph of Kitzville; and four grandchildren.
Visitation: 10:30 until the 11:30 a.m. service Wednesday in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. Burial in Maple Hill cemetery.
CHARLES FRANK OSWALD
Charles Frank Oswald, 77, of Kitzville, Minn., died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, in Buchanan Nursing Home, Chisholm.
He is survived by his son, Charles (Diann); daughter Carol (Paul) Martin; sister Dorothy Batinich; brother Robert (Carol); nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a niece; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday with 7 p.m. parish wake prayers and service at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. Burial in Maple Hill cemetery.
QUINLAN THOMAS OLSON
Quinlan Thomas Olson, infant son of Duane and Vera Olson of Two Harbors, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.
He was born Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001.
Quinn was preceded in death by his twin sister, Michaele Mae, on Nov. 26, 2001.
In addition to his parents, Quinn is survived by sisters Caitlin and Amanda; grandparents Eslie and June Pratt; and Tom and Diane Olson, all of Two Harbors; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
God gives us many gifts and we thank Him for our precious time with Quinn.
