Norman V. Rust, 77, of Sturgeon Lake died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, in Mercy Hospital of Moose Lake.
Survivors include a sister, Wilmadeen Rust of Webster City, Iowa; an aunt, Lena Havinga of Webster City; and numerous cousins and friends.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Monday in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake, and from 1 until the 2 p.m. service Tuesday in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Burial in Presbyterian cemetery in Kamrar, Iowa.

MAMIE LUCILLE RANDALL
Mamie Lucille Randall, 78, of rural Bovey died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, in the Itasca Nursing Home, Grand Rapids.
She is survived by daughters Joan (Burt) Pellersels and Renee (Dave) Donnelly; sisters Margaret (George) Glorvigen and Florence (Gordon) Beer; three grandsons; one great-great-granddaughter.
GATHERING OF FRIENDS:6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a memorial prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids. Burial in Itasca-Calvary cemetery, Grand Rapids.

ALTON L. NORLANDER
Alton L. Norlander, 83, of Virginia died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in the Silver Bay Veterans Home.
PRIVATE SERVICES WERE HELD.Arrangements by Range Funeral Home in Virginia.

GORDON E. HOVET
Gordon E. Hovet, 70, of Silica Township died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons Greg and Jason (Saundra) Hovet; a daughter, Laura (Tim) Duellman; his mother, Evelyn Hovet; five brothers and three sisters; eight grandchildren.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing, where it continues from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Monday. Burial in Maple Hill cemetery.

PATRICIA L. REED
Patricia L. Reed, 77, of Little Marais died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in her home.
She was born Oct. 14, 1924, in Two Harbors to Conrad and Fern (Williams) Lorntson.

Pat was active in many organizations. She was president of Sons of Norway Terje Viken Lodge 1-17, founding member of Bay Area Historical Society -- held many offices -- life member of Lake County Historical Society -- president for many years -- member of Silver Bay Garden Club -- president for four terms and held all offices -- member of Silver Bay Beautification -- started the Marigold Trail, helped grades K-6 plant seeds to grow and later planted the marigold trail on Outer Drive. She was a lutefisk-throwing champion -- Sons of Norway and chief operator for Bell Telephone Company in Beaver Bay. She worked for Reserve Mining Co. for many years and Dravo Construction Co. at Taconite Harbor. She was a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society and received the Lake County Citizen of the Year Award. She was a member of the Commercial Fishing Museum in Tofte and Schroeder Area Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Charles Kenneth Schuler; and second husband Richard L. Reed.

Pat is survived by her sister, Margaret (Kermit) Carlsen of Schroeder; brothers Martin "Micky" (Patricia) and James (Gladys) Lorntson, both of Beaver Bay; stepchildren John (Judy) and Kenneth (Amy) Reed of Minneapolis, and Robert Reed of Grand Marais; step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; uncle and aunt, Eddie and Ruby Williams; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Monday in United Protestant Church, Silver Bay. Burial in Beaver Bay cemetery. Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society and Sons of Norway, Two Harbors. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.

DOROTHY NELL ANDREAS
Dorothy Nell Andreas, 88, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, in her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Pierre, S.D., moved to Minneapolis when she was a young girl and attended John Marshall High School and the University of Minnesota. Dorothy graduated from the University of Minnesota's dental hygienist program. Dorothy was a Life Master of duplicate bridge.

She was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church, Sun City, Ariz.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Bertrand "Bert"; her children, David (Donna) of New Brighton, Minn., Judith Enich (Peter, deceased) of Plymouth, Minn., Michael (Linda) of Newburgh, Ind., and Patrick (Robin) of Pengilly; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A MEMORIAL SERVICEwill be held Dec. 15 in Lakeview United Methodist Church, Sun City. The family expresses gratitude to Care from the Heart, Hospice of the Valley and Sunshine Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.

FRANCES M. BARAGA
Frances M. Baraga, 78, of Chisholm died Thursday, December 6, 2001, in Heritage Manor Health Care Center- Chisholm.
She was born June 9, 1923, in Chisholm to Frank and Apolonia (Stepec) Sterle. She was a 1941 graduate of Chisholm High School and was a lifelong resident. Frances and John J. Baraga were united in marriage Oct. 2, 1943.

She and her husband owned and operated J.B.'s neighborhood grocery store in Chisholm for many years. She later worked as the bookkeeper at Baraga Brothers Furniture Store in Keewatin for 25 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Chisholm.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John J., Jan. 8, 1996; a grandson, Matthew Baraga; sisters Jennie Novoselac and Mary Sterle; and a brother, John Sterle Jr.

Survivors include sons Robert (Jean) of Phoenix and Rodney (Beverly) of Little Falls, Minn.; a daughter, Pauline (Kevin) Martin of Davis, Ill.; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister, Veronica Jacobson of Chisholm; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 9 until the 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Chisholm, the Rev. Steve Daigle as celebrant. Interment follows in Chisholm cemetery.

Arrangements by Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Chisholm.

SHIRLEY M. NORKUNAS
Shirley M. Norkunas, 75, of Foxboro died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel; daughters Linda Johnson and Elizabeth (John) Eastman; sons Michael (Jill) and James (Beth) Holmes, and Edward, Thomas (Lucy) and Christopher (Diane) Norkunas; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchildren; three sisters and three brothers.
Visitation: 5 p.m. today and funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday in Downs Funeral Home. Interment in Summit cemetery.

ELMA JOHANNA BUTALA
Elma Johanna Butala, 78, of Biwabik died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Patricia); daughter Sandra Kochar; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother; four sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Saturday in St. John's Catholic Church, Biwabik. Burial in Lakeside cemetery, Biwabik. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Homes, Gilbert.

BRYCE DANIEL PEARSON
Bryce Daniel Pearson, full-term son of Daniel and Christi Pearson of Hibbing, was stillborn Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in the University-Medical Center-Mesabi.
Besides his parents, Bryce is survived by his paternal grandparents, Keith and Susan Pearson of Nashwauk; maternal grandmother, Nancy Failla of Lithopolis, Ohio; and paternal great-grandmother, Gladys Langer of Inver Grove Heights, Minn. Bryce's father, Daniel, was a lifelong resident of Chisholm before moving to Hibbing, where Daniel and Christi have lived for two years.
PRIVATE SERVICES will be held today in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing, the Rev. Steve Breitbarth officiating.

STANLEY ZUBICH
Stanley Zubich, 74, of Hibbing died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in the Golden Crest Health Center.
He was born in Hibbing to Dan and Mary Zubich on May 5, 1927, and was a lifelong Hibbing resident. Stan was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the European Theater. Mr. Zubich married Lola Hoveland on Feb. 2, 1961. He was the former owner of the Trocadero Bar in Brooklynand had worked for the city of Hibbing for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola, Nov. 3, 1993; three brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by a daughter, Diane (Duane) Lenth of International Falls; grandchildren Tina Marie (Joe) Vauthier of Billings, Mont, and Michael Stanley (Danielle) Ficke of Omaha, Neb.; great-grandchildren Jason Besch, Caitlin Vauthier, Gabriella and Maddison Ficke; brothers Charles of St. Paul and Bernard of Hibbing; sisters Dessy Laurich and Barbara Hill, both of Hibbing; a sister-in-law, Rose Zubich of Hibbing; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. Service 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Blessed Sacrament Catholic church, the Rev. Father James Hauver officiating. Burial in Maple Hill cemetery. Memorials preferred to Diane Lenth, 3656 Highway 53, International Falls, MN 56649.
