Former Jamestown resident Jack Bernabucci, 77, of Palm Springs, Calif., passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at St. James Basilica in Jamestown. A memorial service will be held at the Palm Springs Air Museum at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27. Arrangements are being provided by Lisko Funeral Chapel of Jamestown.

Melvin H. Klotz, 88, of Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 at West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, with the Rev. Dan Babine and Rev. Howard Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements have been entrusted to West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.

Former Frazee area resident William “Bill” Derke, 75, of West Fargo, died on Monday, February 11, 2008 at his home. Visitation for Bill will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. in the Furey Funeral Home, Frazee and also one hour prior to services in the church. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church-Evergreen, rural Frazee with the Rev. Anthony Cloose officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeside cemetery, Frazee. Arrangements are with the Furey Funeral Home, Frazee.

Jeanette M. LaGue, 71, of Naytahwaush, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 9, 2008. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Naytahwaush, with the Rev. Bob Leising, OMI, officiating; there will be visitation for one hour prior to the start of services. Burial will take place at St. Anne’s Catholic cemetery in Naytahwaush. Becker County native Nellie H. Cary, 92, of Middletown, Ohio, died Wednesday, January 9, 2008 in Ohio. A memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ulen on Monday, May 5, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be just prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Church cemetery in Ulen. Vincent L. Olson
Moorhead, MN
Vincent passed away on Friday, April 1, 2005, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fargo at the age of 66.
Vince was born on July 5, 1938, in Hawley, MN, the son of Harry and Ellen (Carlson) Olson. He grew up in this area and received his education. He graduated from Hawley High School. After his schooling he proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1956 until 1958. Upon his discharge he returned to this area and began his career as a truck driver. Vince was united in marriage to Phyllis Brummond and two children were born to this union, Michael and Kimberly. Vince first drove for International Transport of Audubon, MN; later for Red Owl of Fargo, ND; and finally for Bison Transport of Winnipeg.
Vince is survived by his children, Michael P. Olson of Moorhead, MN; Kimberly J. Jackson of Hopkins, MN; his long time companion and best friend, Lois Olson; and her children, Brenda (Eric) Schoen of St. Michael, MN; John Webber Jr. of Moorhead, MN; and Chad Webber of St. Michael, MN; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is also survived by his mother, Ellen Olson of Detroit Lakes, MN; his brothers and sisters, Harvey (Shirley) Olson of Buffalo, MN; Gail (Marvin) Zimmerman of Moorhead, MN; Beverly (Roland) Morton of Audubon, MN; Roland (Loretta) Olson of Moorhead, MN; and Donald Olson of Fargo, ND; and several nieces and nephews. Vince was preceded in death by his father, Harry.
Visitiation: 5-8 Tuesday at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo and also one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Wednesday

Christopher R. Edwards, 63, of Grand Rapids, Minn., passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 21, 2008 surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. Chris battled a long hard fight with cancer, after being diagnosed exactly one year prior to the date of his death. A memorial service will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 25 at the Robert J. Elkington Middle School Commons in Grand Rapids, in honor of the years he dedicated to the youth in the community. A formal military burial will be held on Saturday, April 26, at 3 p.m. in the Richwood Lutheran cemetery north of Detroit Lakes. Arrangements are being provided by Rowe Funeral Home of Grand Rapids.

Alice M. Peterson, 90, of Detroit Lakes, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2008, at St. Mary’s Nursing Center in Detroit Lakes, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, at the First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Folden Lutheran Church cemetery in Vining, at 2:15 p.m. The David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes is serving the family.

A mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena, with the Rev. Donald Wagner as celebrant. Burial will take place in the Calvary cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Ann’s Church Stained Glass Window Fund. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, April 24 with Rosary at 6:30 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes. It will continue Friday for one hour prior to the start of services at the church. A mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 12 noon on Friday, April 25 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jerry Rogers officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic cemetery, Beaulieu. Arrangements are being provided by the David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New York Mills, with the Rev. Marilee Bergerson officiating. Juliet will be laid to rest in St. Peter's cemetery in New York Mills. Arrangements were provided by the Karvonen & Son Funeral Home in New York Mills.
