Ferne Cimbura, 86
Ferne Cimbura, 86, Breckenridge, Minn., died May 10, 2009, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13 at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Breckenridge with the Rev. Mark Manning officiating.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12 at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Fairview cemetery, Wahpeton, N.D.
Ferne was born Oct. 13, 1922, at Kathryn, N.D., the daughter of William and Hattie (Stahl) Anderson. She later moved to Breckenridge and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1940. Following graduation she worked for Dr. Lee McMahon in Breckenridge and Lieber’s Ready to Wear in Wahpeton.
On Sept. 21, 1943 Ferne was married
to Raymond C. Cimbura. They lived in Breckenridge all their married
life except two years in Moorhead, Minn. Ferne worked at the Breckenridge Clinic and for Drs. Brudvik and Rasmussen dental office.
Prior to Ray’s illness, Ferne loved to dance, fish, help Ray with the garden produce and entertain friends at home. Ray preceded her in death on March 2, 1992.
Ferne’s first concern was always for her family. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball, doing needlework, reading and baking cookies. Ferne was a member of Breckenridge Lutheran Church, Eagles Aerie No. 2749 Auxiliary, the Breckenridge All School Reunion Committee and the local group of Railroad Retirees.
Ferne is survived by: her daughters, Eldean and Larry Johnson, Maple Grove, Minn., and Annette and Gordy Krupke, New London, Minn.; her son, Tim Cimbura, Breckenridge; her two grandchildren, Brett and Kevin Krupke; her sister-in-law, Helen Cimbura, Wahpeton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, William and Hattie Anderson; and her husband, Raymond Cimbura.
Mary B. Grant, 88
Mary B. Grant, 88, Breckenridge, Minn., formerly Wahpeton, N.D., died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge.
The Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m., Friday, May, 15 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with the Rev. Dale Lagodinski as celebrant.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 14 with a 7 p.m. prayer vigil at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton. (920 3rd Ave. N.), and one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Alan Cribb, 47
Alan Cribb, 47, Breckenridge, Minn., died May 11, 2009, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 15 at Breckenridge Lutheran Church, Breckenridge, with the Rev. Mark Manning officiating.
Visitation is one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Alan James Cribb was born Aug. 7, 1961, in Norfolk, Va., the son of James and Florence (Lokken) Cribb. At a young age he moved with his family to San Diego, Calif., and attended school there for two years before moving to Enderlin, N.D., where he graduated from high school in 1980. Alan furthered his education at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, N.D., and worked for Tom Haugrud custom combining. He has also been employed at Cenex in Breckenridge, Sigco, Farmer’s Co-op Elevator in Campbell, Minn., Northern Lights Trucking, RDO, Mitchell Farms and Min-Dak Farmer’s Cooperative. He was an all around handy man.
Alan was married
to Jodie K. Maasjo on July 23, 1982, at Lisbon, N.D. They made their home and raised their two sons in Breckenridge.
Alan was a member of Breckenridge Lutheran Church. He enjoyed watching and attending his sons’ sports, fishing, boating and snowmobiling. He was a big Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan and also enjoyed NASCAR. He especially enjoyed being with his wife and sons.
He is survived by: his wife, Jodie, Breckenridge; his two sons, Aaron Cribb and fiance’ Lindsay Cizek, Fargo, and Eric Cribb, Breckenridge; his brothers, Michael (Darcy) Cribb, Dent, Minn., and Robert (Rita) Cribb, Jamestown, N.D.; his sisters, Kathy Daves (Skip), Seattle, Wash., and Sheryl Heier, Fla.; his mother and father-in-law, Darrell and Judy Maasjo, Madison, Minn.; his sister-in-law, Robin Cooper (Art Hogness), Lisbon; his brother-in-law, Darwin (Melissa) Maasjo, Minot, N.D.; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, James and Florence Cribb.
Arrangements are being handled by Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge.
Arla M. Olson, 76
Arla M. Olson, formerly of Hitterdal, Minn., died Feb. 11, 2009 due to cancer of the central nervous system in St. Louis, Miss., at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30 at 2 p.m. at Dilworth Lutheran Church, located at 2nd Street and 4th Ave NE in Dilworth, Minn. Burial will be at Salem Lutheran cemetery, Hitterdal, following fellowship after the service.
Arla M. Olson was born on Feb. 18, 1933 in Hitterdal. She attended public school in Hitterdal until her sophomore year. Her formal education was completed in the Fargo-Moorhead area. She worked for many years at the Manchester Biscuit Company in Fargo until the business relocated to Denver, Colo.
On March 25, 1961, Arla was united in marriage to Earl W. Olson. They were divorced in 1998. The two remained in contact and were good friends until Arla’s death.
Arla was employed by Wahpeton Public Schools, in Wahpeton, N.D., for several years. She served as a librarian assistant in the middle school and later as a tutor for high school special education students. She was also a foster parent for students in the special education program. During political elections, Arla served numerous times as judge or inspector.
She loved working with young people and enjoyed socializing with people of all ages. Arla especially loved music and reading and had strong interests in traveling, sports, animals, playing cards, and bingo. She was especially fond of collecting stuffed bears and ceramic dolls.
Arla was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, Wahpeton V.F. W. Auxiliary, Wahpeton Eagles Auxiliary, a charter member of the Wahpeton Sons of Norway, a former member of the League of Women Voters, and the Merrifew Homemakers Club of Wahpeton.
For thirty years of her life, Arla suffered from rheumatoid arthritis. She remained hopeful throughout and maintained her interests and activities to the best of her abilities. She made her home with her son, Daron, during most of the last fifteen years of her life. In addition to a mother’s love and pride, she developed a deep bond with her son and often expressed her appreciation for the care he provided.
She is survived by her son, Daron W. Olson, Carbondale, Ill., several cousins, and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Hammer.
Leonard W. Wacha, 88
Leonard W. Wacha, 88, Hopkins, Minn., has died.
Services were held at Zion Lutheran Church, Hopkins, Monday, May 11.
He was born Sept. 11, 1920, in Lidgerwood, N.D. He was united in marriage to Marie Sestak on June 15, 1940, in Lidgerwood.
He is survived by: daughters, Janet (Riley) Williamson, Campbell, Minn., and Patty (Ray) Tuenge, New Hope, Minn.; sister, Emily Koppelman; sisters-in-law, Anna Shorma, Irene Wahl, Renata Rubey, Joanne Sestak; brothers-in- law, Joe (Sheryn) Sestak, Harold David; grandchildren, Dawn (Jeff) Krump, Loretta (Rick) Finck, Ray (Patti) Tuenge, Darrel (Mary) Rosenkranz, Rod Tuenge (Adam Ostrow), Teri (Frank) Harris; great-grandchildren, Aleyna, Jordan, Bradan, Daryl, Riley, Amelia, Jamie, Leighton, Riley, Joey, Max and Makenna; great-great-grandsons, Harrison and Paul; many nieces, nephews, special neighbors and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Marie Ann; his parents, Henry and Barbara; his grandson, George Williamson.
Leo Thomas Gregerson, 86
Leo Thomas Gregerson, 86, of Park Rapids, Minn., and Tucson, Ariz., died peacefully at his winter home in Tucson on Friday, Feb. 27, 2009.
A memorial service was held March 13 at the Rincon Country West RV Resort in Tucson.
A memorial mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30 at the St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids with the Rev. Friedl officiating.
Music will be led by the Alleluia Choir. A luncheon will be hosted at the church following the service for all to attend.

Leo was born on May 12, 1922, in Beltrami County, Minn., to Ingval and Anna (Lone) Gregerson. Leo graduated from the Agricultural High School in Grand Rapids, Minn. Leo served in the Army Air Force from 1942 until the fall of 1945. Following his honorable discharge, Leo attended the University of Minnesota. Leo was united in marriage to Dorothy Cook on June 16, 1951, in Sioux City, Iowa, and they were blessed with three children: Peggy, Greg and Kevin. Leo worked as a brakeman for 30 years with the Great Northern/Burlington Northern Railroad. Leo and Dorothy also enjoyed a winter home in Tucson.
Leo enjoyed reading, poetry and served as a reading mentor for children. He served his parishes as a lector, religious instructor and visitor to shut-ins. Leo was an avid outdoorsman, who had a passion for nature and hunting, and enjoyed sharing these activities with his sons. Leo enjoyed playing bridge, square dancing, taking part in theater productions, table tennis, cheering for his favorite sports teams (Vikings and Twins), and vacation road trips. He was a member of the St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids and the Mission San Xavier del Bac in Tucson, American Legion Post No. 212 and the Knights of Columbus.
Leo will be lovingly missed by: his wife of 57 years, Dorothy; one daughter, Peggy (Donald) Boothroyd of Richfield, Minn.; two sons, Greg (Sheri) Gregerson of San Angelo, Texas, and Kevin (Eve) Gregerson of Apple Valley, Minn.; four grandchildren, Donald (Jennifer) Boothroyd of Chaska, Minn., GaNe’ Boothroyd (Ryan Ferreras) of Savage, Minn., Anna (Ryan) Berg of Burnsville, Minn., and Shawn Gregerson of San Angelo, Texas; seven great -grandchildren; three sisters, Hildur (Bryce) Lamon of Bemidji, Minn., Edna (Vaughn) Best of Grand Terrace, Calif., and Olive (Louie) Brand of Puyallup, Wash.; two sisters-in-law: Lorraine Gregerson and Benita Gregerson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Leo was preceded in death by: his parents; three sisters, Irene, Sylvia; infant sister, Olive; and three brothers, Albert, Oray and Carmon.
