Katherine Gudrun Olson, 94

Katherine Gudrun Olson, 94, Starbuck, Minn., died Nov. 19, 2010.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26 at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck, Minn.

Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Friday at the church.

Gudrun was born in Fargo, N.D., on Sept. 13, 1916, to John and Marie (Sletten) Tiseth. She was a graduate of Christine (N.D.) High School and North Dakota State University in Fargo.

Gudrun taught home economics in Wahpeton, N.D., and in Avon, S.D. While teaching in Avon she met her husband, Thomas Edward Olson. They lived in Eau Claire, Wis., and later moved to Starbuck, where Tom joined the First National Bank of Starbuck.

Gudrun’s parents immigrated from Norway and she grew up in a Norwegian speaking home in Christine. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and enjoyed its traditions.

She was an active participant in the Starbuck community and a member of Fron Lutheran Church. She was a past Grand Matron of Eastern Star, a member of Starbuck Study Club and involved in producing the Fron Cookbook, fondly referred to as “The Book.”

Gudrun was an active volunteer at Fron Lutheran Church and at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home for many years. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, bridge, needlework, golf, travel, her cottage and spending time with friends and family. Gudrun’s smile and laughter brought warmth to everyone who knew her.

Gudrun is survived by: her daughter, Beth Olson of Minnetonka, Minn.; sons, Paul (Maurice McClure) Olson of Anchorage, Alaska, Mark (Sherree) Olson of Starbuck; grandchildren, Kaitlin, Edward, Samuel, Arin, and Tisa.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Thomas; and son, Richard.

All memorials will be used to help fund research and education of Alzheimer’s disease.

Linda Kay Worner, 58

Linda Kay Worner, 58, Breckenridge, Minn., died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, after a six-year battle with cancer.

The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28 at Evergreen United Methodist Church, Wahpeton, N.D., with the Rev. David Andrews officiating.

Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28 (one hour prior to the memorial service) at Evergreen United Methodist Church.

Linda was born Jan. 20, 1952, to Clifford and Pauline (Kachelhoffer) Worner in Breckenridge. She grew up and attended public school in Wahpeton. After her schooling, Linda worked at various jobs including 3M and different group homes in the Wahpeton-Breckenridge area. Her interests include caring for her flowers, collecting antiques and trips to the lake with family. She was greatly loved by her family, special friends Floyd and Becca, her loyal dog Toot, and the many friends she made over the years. Linda will always be remembered for her kindness to others, abundant generosity, her blatant honesty and great sense of humor.

For the last six years Linda bravely battled cancer so, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Riveredge Hospice, Breckenridge.

Linda is survived by: her mother, Pauline Worner of Wahpeton; her brothers, Dr. Wayne (Kathie) Worner of Blacksburg, Va., Dr. Michael (Marilyn) Worner of Mayville, N.D., Dr. Roger (Kay) Worner of Cedar, Minn.; 9 nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews.

Linda is preceded by: her father, Clifford Worner.

Marie E. Stock, 87

Marie E. Stock, 87, Fergus Falls, Minn., died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, under the care of Lakeland Hospice.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 17 at First Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls, with the Rev. Roger Hanson officiating.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Burial will be at Knollwood Memorial Gardens at Fergus Falls.

Arrangements are with Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls.

Marie was born May 10, 1923, in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Cornelius and Edna (Steinbach) Witt. She grew up in Fergus Falls and attended District 30 Country School. She married Austin Hutchins and the couple had two sons together. She then married Russell Stock and they had three children together. They would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary Nov. 18.

Marie was employed as a waitress at several restaurants in Fergus Falls including the Skyline, the Lantern and the Spot. She was a cook at Adams and McKinley schools for eight years.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, and loved spending time with her family and watching wrestling on TV. Marie enjoyed baking - she was famous for her banana cream pie and icebox cookies.

Marie is survived by: her husband, Russell of Fergus Falls; children, Roger (Lynette) Hutchins of Fergus Falls, Gary (Jeanie) Hutchins of Fergus Falls, Doug Stock of Fargo, N.D., Roxanne (Dale) Meyer of Wahpeton, N.D., Frank Stock of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Jon (special friend Connie) Hutchins, Jamie Hutchins, Kristi Thunselle, Brian (Jody) Hutchins, Wayne (fiancée Toni) Hutchins, Trevor (Becky) Muchow, Tyler (Brittany) Muchow and Trish (Nathan) Malone; great-grandchildren, Heather and Hallie Hutchins, Joshua and Zachary Thunselle, Jenna and Justine Hutchins, Mason and Kailee Will, Jacob and Bailey Muchow, Brody Muchow, Parker and Hunter Malone; special friends, Jeff and Diane Gunvalson and their children Megan and Kelsey; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were: her parents; sister, Deloris and Loren “Bud” Tommerdahl; and daughter-in-law, Ellen Hutchins.

Lenora K. Baumer, 95

Lenora K. Baumer, 95, Excelsior, Minn., and formerly Wahpeton, N.D., died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at the Golden Living Center, Excelsior.

The Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the church with a Christian Mother’s Rosary at 10 a.m.

Burial will be at Calvary cemetery, Wahpeton.

Lenora Katherine Gilgenbach was born on April 27, 1915, in Wahpeton, to Joseph and Rose (Karst) Gilgenbach. She attended the Wahpeton School system and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1932. She married Gilbert Baumer on Oct. 15, 1940, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton. The couple lived and farmed south of Wahpeton until 1957 when they moved into Wahpeton. Lenora worked in housekeeping at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge until her retirement. She lived for a time at the Leach Home, Wahpeton, before entering St. Catherine’s Living Center on April 16, 2009. In December 2009, she moved to Excelsior to be closer to her family.

Lenora was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton, and the Eagles Auxiliary.

She will be lovingly missed by: her son, Merlyn (Dodie) Baumer and grandchildren, Jeff Baumer, Marne (Steve) Oberg and Jennifer (Ken) DeCubellis; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Rosemary Robison, Brainerd, Minn., Bernice Rieber, Breckenridge, Minn., Marcella Mohs, Wadena, Minn., and Betty Gust, Minnetonka, Minn.; two brothers, Matt Gilgenbach, Pillager, Minn., and Herman (Violet) Gilgenbach, West St. Paul, Minn.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband. Gilbert on Dec. 30, 1993; a granddaughter-in-law, Jill Baumer; her brothers, John and Elmer Gilgenbach; and sisters, Lucille Althoff, JoAnn Berg and Marie Klubberud.

Agnes M. Anderson, 92

Agnes M. Anderson, 92, Fergus Falls, Minn., died Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls with the Revs. Curt Deterding and Roger Lange officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15 at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.

Burial will be at Trinity-Faith cemetery, Fergus Falls.

Agnes Marion Hansen was born July 19, 1918, to George Jergen and Dorothy Sophie (Schmidt) Hansen in Breckenridge, Minn. She was baptized in Wahpeton, N.D., and confirmed in St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Campbell, Minn. Agnes grew up in Wilkin County and went to District 76 Country School.

She was untied in marriage to Kenneth Robert Anderson on Dec. 21, 1937, in St Paul’s Lutheran Church. Agnes worked at St. Francis Hospital and as a receptionist for Dr. Roger Nelson. The couple farmed together until 1972. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Trinity Circle and Sunnyside Homemakers’ Club. She loved to cook, cake baking and decorating, gardening and sewing. Agnes had a great gift of hospitality and strong family values. She loved and enjoyed her entire family.

Agnes is survived by: her children, Sandra (Dale) Nystrom of New Rockford, N.D., Daryl (Vicky) Anderson of West Fargo, N.D., and Larry (Sandy) Anderson of Maple Grove, Minn.; 25 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Hattie Holthusen of Fergus Falls, Elroy Hansen of Vining, Minn., Delores Bjerketvedt of Detroit Lakes, Minn., Irene Stroschein of Underwood, Minn., and Harold (Christine) Hansen of Kasilof, Alaska; numerous relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Kenneth, May 15, 1996; sons, Eugene Anderson and Martin Anderson; her parents; five siblings and one grandchild.
