There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Patty was baptized by Rev. Glabe in Minneapolis. She was adopted into the loving family of Rev. Walter and Rose (Volberding) Cordts, in 1936, and resided with them at St. John’s Lutheran Church parsonage, Belford Township, rural Hankinson, with her brother Howard and sister Irma (Pankow).

Patty attended Hankinson grade and high school and also studied piano at St. Francis Academy. She often named Sister Solitaris as her favorite teacher. Patty was confirmed June 20, 1948, by her Dad at St. John’s, and her confirmation verse was Romans 1:16. She enjoyed working at the Hankinson dime store during high school years and past her 1952 High School graduation. In lieu of college, Patty went with her parents to visit her sister Irma, and brother-in-law Rev. Bernard Pankow, in Mexico City.

While going on a home visit with Rev. Cordts, Patty met the family of Albert and Ella Trittin, and their 14 children. Jokingly, her dad asked her which boy she had picked to marry, to which she replied “Urban.” She made good on that statement Sept. 5, 1954, when she and Urban were married in a candlelight ceremony at St. John’s.

Patricia and Urban spent the early months of their marriage at Urban’s family home, then moved to a farm 5.5 miles southeast of Lidgerwood, which they later purchased. Patty spoke often of how the couple worked long days to clear the yard and fields of weeds and stones. The couple was blessed with five children. Patty loved many things about rural life—gardening, helping Urban with the chores and fields, going fishing, having fresh-washed clothes, caring for the animals, but especially the Spring and calving season. She also loved to bake and was known for her brownies and buns. Patty also wrote the Duerr Township News for the Lidgerwood Monitor for many years.

After Urban’s passing Sept. 11, 1984, Patty worked outside of the home at Dacotah Quilt Factory, Veblen, S.D.; and Dakota Estates Retirement Center, Lidgerwood. She was a volunteer for Riveredge Hospice (Richland-Wilkin County) and was named “Volunteer of the Year” in 2000.

Family life revolved around the church and Patty served her Lord in many roles including offices in the local and zone LWML, as a Sunday School and VBS teacher. Most who knew Patty remember her as the church organist for more than 50 years at Immanuel Lutheran. She played for church services, funerals, weddings and special events in most of the LCMS churches in Southeast North Dakota. The last time Patricia played organ in church was for the special Friday night service in the historical old-church building for Immanuel’s 125th anniversary (2009).

Patty had a great love for animals—especially dogs. Her dog, Bib, now lives with her youngest son and family on the farm. She loved to watch vehicles go by on those country gravel roads and when her health demanded she move to Good Samaritan, Fargo (April 2010), she kept busy with word-search and jigsaw puzzles in her apartment that had a road-side view.

She moved to Elim Care Center, Fargo, in October 2011, where she enjoyed having visitors by her bedside. Staff at Elim said Patty was one of their favorites because of her quick wit and later, when her health wouldn’t allow her to converse much, they loved her sweet nature that thanked them often.

Patty deeply loved her 5 children, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and their families: Douglas Trittin (Kathy Abernathy), Oscoda, Mich.; Beverly (Peter) Mack, Christine, N.D., and grandchildren Kasey Caldwell and fiance’ Logan Eggiman, great-grandchildren Jailyn Caldwell and Sophie Eggiman, and Kari (Jon) Guck, great grandchildren Hunter and Gage; Carla (Ezenia) Isom, Argusville, N.D.; Amy Trittin, Dilworth, Minn., and grandchildren Stacia, Anna (fiancé Will Uksas), and Madeline Croucher; and Eric (Heidi) Trittin, Lidgerwood, grandchildren, Noah and Avery.

Patty has met many loved ones in Heaven who preceded her in death, including husband Urban; her parents and in-laws; brother Howard, his wife Ardis and son, Michael; and her sister Irma, husband Bernard Pankow; brothers-in-law Arthur, Walter, Lorenz, Reuben, Fritz Trittin; Wilbert Hoefs, Earl Prinsen, Merle Bartnick and Richard Koets; sisters-in-law Elizabeth (Prinsen) Koets, Ethel Hoefs, Laurina Lynn, and Carol Trittin, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She is survived by her children and their families, by sisters-in-law Barbara Trittin, Lidgerwood; Joan Trittin, Wahpeton; Grace (Andy) Anderson, Watertown, S.D.; and Ella (Bernard) Rasinski, Bloomington, Minn.; and brothers-in-law Harold, Gerhard and Ernst (Elaine) Trittin, all Hankinson; Bruce Lynn, Lidgerwood; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Our hearts are broken, but for this while, we are on Earth, and You, in Heaven.
