Rose M. Bredeson, 85

Rose M. Bredeson, 85, Fergus Falls, Minn., and most recently a resident at the Mill Street Residence, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls with the Rev. Stan Satre and the Rev. Clay Mitchell officiating. Interment will be at Bethlehem cemetery, Fergus Falls.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011 at the funeral home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service. Visitation resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.

Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Beverly A. Steiner, 81

Beverly A. Steiner, 81, Fergus Falls, Minn., died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011 after a two-year battle with cancer.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, with the Rev. Curtis Deterding officiating. Interment is at Trinity-Faith cemetery, Fergus Falls.

Visitation will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011 at the church and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Beverly was born Oct. 13, 1929 in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Herman and Louise (Hoelmer) Schmidt. She grew up on the farm in Carlisle Township, rural Fergus Falls. Beverly was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. She attended Fergus Falls High School, graduating in 1946.

On May 15, 1949 she married Daryl Steiner at Trinity Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on the family farm in Wilkin County where they raised their family and farmed until 1998 when they moved to Fergus Falls. Beverly and Daryl enjoyed spending the winter months in Mesa, Ariz., from 1976 until 2001. She especially loved visiting with family and friends. Traveling and playing cards were favorite activities as well. Her family was her greatest joy.

Beverly was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the LWML, was a charter member of the Andrea Ambitious Homemaker Club, and the A.M.A. Jets 4-H Club in Wilkin County and the friendship club. She served as a volunteer at Lake Region Hospital.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley (Rick) Draz, Lakeville, Minn.; two sons, Charles (Linda) Steiner, Foxhome, Minn., and Daniell (Janice) Steiner, Casper, Wyo.; seven grandchildren: Jonathan Draz, Ryan Draz, Dr. Melissa (Dr. Jeff) Hall, Michael (Amber) Steiner, Matthew (Kjersten) Steiner, Mark (Sarah) Steiner, and Christopher (Jennifer) Steiner; four step-grandchildren, Me-lissa Kay Lile, Brian (Brandi) Daniels, Josh Daniels and Charlie (Tara) Daniels; 10 great-grandchildren: Jacob, Megan, Ethan, and Rylee Hall, Drew, Luke, Keira and Brett Steiner, and Vivian and Rosemary Steiner; 12 step-great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Abigail Carlson, Amber Voorhies, Jack, Jacob, Jared and Stormie Daniels, Kyia and Ember Daniels, Dahlia and Violet Daniels and Cyrel LeBeau; a sister-in-law, Maxine Schmidt, Fergus Falls; and a special friend, Jim Dewey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Louise Schmidt; her daughter, Cynthia Louise, who died in 1958; her husband, Daryl Steiner in 2005; and her brother, LeRoy Schmidt.

Memorials are preferred to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Maureen Eloise Schultz, 85

Maureen Eloise Schultz, 85, Lakeville, Minn., died Wednesday, March 16, 2011.

The memorial service was held at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011 at White Funeral Home, Lakeville, with the Rev. Mark Bellows officiating. Special music was provided by John Rosenow.

Maureen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was born in Adams, N.D., April 20, 1925 to Selmer and Olga Johnson and lived in Fairdale, Hampden and Overly, N.D., before marring Donald Schultz Aug. 27, 1948.

They raised their three children and lived in several cities in North Dakota, before moving to Minnesota. She was a big fan of country western music and got the opportunity to meet her favorite, Vince Gill, in person. She never missed the Lawrence Welk show and was an avid listener of the Big Band sound. She was also a huge fan of the Twins baseball team, attended many games and never missed a game on TV. She doted on her children and grandchildren and always looked forward to spending time with them, whether in person, on the computer, or by telephone.

She enjoyed going to church services at the Prince of Peace Church in Lakeville and was also a member of the church in Fairdale.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Donald Schultz; children: Vicky (Tom) Wilson, Scott (Sandy) Schultz and Kirby Schultz; and her grandchildren: Heidi, Jackie, Andy and Joe; her step-grandchildren, Tom, Phil and Nicole; and her great-grandchildren: Olivia, Holden and Kalah; and many other loving relatives and friends. She will be deeply missed.

Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, Selmer and Olga Johnson; her brothers: George (Norma), Vernon (Millie), Lyle (Doris) Johnson; and sister, Marian (Arnold) Berg.

Ethel West, 98

Ethel West, 98, Waconia, Minn., formerly of Fairmount, N.D., died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011 at Good Samaritan Center.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011 at First English Lutheran Church in Fairmount, with the Rev. Anthony Ahrendt officiating. Interment is at Fairmount cemetery, Fairmount.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011 with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, Minn.

Ethel was born Jan. 7, 1913 to William and Anna Rossow in Campbell, Minn. She grew up and attended school in Campbell. After completing her education, she was employed as a housekeeper and also at Cudhay in Fairmount.

Ethel was united in marriage to Kenneth West Sept. 14, 1933 at her parent’s home in rural Campbell. The couple farmed until they moved to rural Fairmount, Wilkin County, Minn., in 1941. They farmed there until 1966 when they traded the rural living for city life in Fairmount. They later moved to Osseo, Minn., where Kenneth was employed with Ryerson Steel for seven years. In 1973, Ethel and Kenneth moved back to Fairmount where they lived out their retirement years.

Kenneth passed away Nov. 6, 2000. Ethel moved to Norwood, Minn., to be with her daughter, Sylvia, and remained there for 6 1/2 years until moving into the Lighthouse Assisted Living Center and then finally the Good Samaritan Center, both in Waconia.

Ethel loved to stay active and had many hobbies. She was passionate about gardening and tending to her flowers. She loved to bake and play cards and looked forward to her weekly visits to the community center. Crocheting and taking care of the neighborhood stray cats also kept her busy. She was a member of Ladies Aide of First English Lutheran Church, Kutzer Homemakers Club and the Fairmount Bowling Team.

Ethel treasured her family and took much care in making sure each gathering was special. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her and knew her.

Ethel is survived by her two sons, Donovan (Carol) West, Monticello, Minn., and Gary (Rebecca) West, Andover, Minn.; her daughter, Sylvia Olson, Norwood; her daughter-in-law, Kathryn Calloway, Lebanon, Ore.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth West; two sons, Dennis and LaVerne West; her parents, William and Anna Rossow; six brothers: Ed, Emil, Elmer, Leo, Adolph and George Rossow; two sisters, Ella Kube and Lena Sundea; her granddaughter, Donna; and two great-grandsons.

Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge is in charge of the arrangements.

Margaret Anna Lyon

Margaret Anna Lyon was born February 27 1916 in Foley, MN to George and Anna (Mauer) Lodermeier. She was educated in St. Wendel Township through eighth grade. She received her high school diploma in 2000. Margaret worked as a housekeeper and homemaker until she married . She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. She lived her faith every day and could always be counted on to pray for her family members and friends. She married Dennis Lyon on August 12, 1940 at St. Joseph, MN. Margaret and Dennis moved to Geneseo in 1943 where they farmed until retirement in 1983. They raised 9 children on the farm. There was always food and room for company! Margaret was a member of Christian Mothers, Solidarity of the Mother of Perpetual Help at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, several Homemaker’s clubs, and American Legion Auxiliary. She taught CCD 11 years for St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and always enjoyed going back for Mass whenever she could.

Margaret spent the last 6 years of her life at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton ND where she made a whole new circle of friends.

Margaret is survived by 7 children, JoAnne (Donald) Brown, Glenwood, MN, Judith (James) Buckhouse, Larimore, ND, James (Marlene) Lyon, Geneseo, ND, John (Norma Jean) Lyon, Lidgerwood, ND, Jean Knoll, Linn Creek, MO, Thomas (Karla) Lyon, Gwinner, ND, and Mary (Mark) Bruun, Braddock, ND. She is also survived by 2 daughters-in-law, Renate (Jerome) Lyon, Arnegard, ND and Kathy (Joseph) Lyon, Wahpeton, ND, and one brother-in-law, Thomas Landwehr, St. Cloud, MN. 37 grandchildren; 69 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis in 1993, sons Jerome in 2007, Joseph in 2014, her parents George and Anna, her siblings Mary Agnes, Angela, LaVerne, and Robert and brother-in-law, William Knowles.

Margaret enjoyed her 100th birthday party immensely! She left us on April 27th with broken but joyful hearts and she has gone to her eternal reward. Margaret was loving, kind and true friend to many. She was hardworking, humble and faithful, a wonderful example of a Christian life and love!

Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m., with a prayer service and rosary at 5 p.m., Sunday, May 1, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lidgerwood. Visitation will continue from 9:30-10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 2, at the church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery in Lidgerwood.

Margaret’s family thanks all of the staff at St. Catherine’s for the loving care they provided and a very special thanks to Sue, Melanie & Lucy. May God bless you all!

Mary Goerger

Mary Veronica Goerger passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015, at St. Francis Care Center in Breckenridge, MN. Mary was born August 24, 1917 at home in rural Mantador, ND to Peter and Mary Ann (Gaul) Lingen.

Mary married Herbert Peter Goerger on June 14, 1938 in Mantador at Sts Peter and Paul Church. They settled into a career of farming near Mantador and were blessed with nine children. Herb passed away on November 7, 1990. A few years after Herb’s death Mary moved to Riverview Place in Fargo, ND. Later she moved to Home Sweet Home in Horace, ND, and finally to St. Francis Care Center in Breckenridge, MN.

Mary loved to learn, loved attending school, and had beautiful script handwriting. She loved flowers, reading, cross word puzzles, needlework, baking, cooking, and water exercise. She was a force to be reckoned with at the Scrabble board.

Mary was very active in Sts Peter and Paul Parish. She was one of the developers of the CCD program, taught in the program for 15 years, and was principal for 5 of those years. She is a member of the Christian Mother’s Society, National Catholic Society of Foresters, was one of the organizers of the Prayer Group and Prayer Chain of Sts Peter and Paul Parish in Mantador and St. Anthony Parish in Mooreton. She made baptismal gowns for a number of years for babies of the parish; she was one of the designers of the church banners; and she was a reader of the Liturgy for 25 years.

Mary is survived by 9 children, Carmen (Ron) Swanson - Fairmount, Rose Marie (Gene) Werner - Dundas, MN, Neal - Mantador, Jeanne - Fargo, Paulette (Ralph) Friday - Alexandria, MN, Harlan - Fargo, Terry (Carolyn) - Mantador, Lynn - Lake Park, MN and Marge (Gerard) Lenzen - Hankinson; 1 brother, Nick Lingen - Hankinson; and 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 5 great, great grandchildren.

Mary is preceded in death by parents, Peter and Mary Ann Lingen; brothers James, John, Alois and 2 infant brothers; sisters Lucy Heitkamp, Catherine Paulson, and Elizabeth Lingen; 1 daughter-in-law Joyce Goerger (Harlan); and 1 son-in-law Gerard Lenzen (Marge).

Visitation will be at Frank Funeral Home in Hankinson, ND from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, and from 9:00 to 10:20 a.m. on October 16 before the funeral service. Funeral service will be held at Sts Peter and Paul Church in Mantador, ND at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 16.

Sheryl Neiber

Sheryl Neiber, 42 of St. Cloud, MN formerly of Aberdeen, SD & Geneseo, ND passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at her home in St. Cloud, MN. Funeral services will be Monday, January 19, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Geneseo, ND with burial St. Martin's cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation will be Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 3-5 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Lidgerwood, ND. There will also be visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Sheryl Lynn Neiber was born January 18, 1972 in Breckenridge, MN, the daughter of Joseph & Judy Neiber. She grew up in Geneseo, ND & attended Lidgerwood High School where she was involved in several extra curricular activities. After high school she attended college in Fargo and then moved to Wahpeton and worked at a nursing home, then she moved to Forman and worked at a nursing home. She met & married Galeyn Kersting. She then lived in Ellendale, ND, Frederick, SD and then Aberdeen, SD where she lived until April 2014 when she moved to St. Cloud, MN.

Sheryl enjoyed cooking, baking, crafts & cross stitching.

Sheryl is survived by her parents: Joseph & Judy Neiber, Geneseo, ND; son: Logan Schlosser, Frederick, SD; daughters: Brittni (Jacob Christiansen) Kersting, Aberdeen, SD & Lacie (Ryan Brezicka) Kersting, Forman, ND; brothers: David Neiber, Minneapolis, MN, Dan (Chaundra) Neiber, Britton, SD & Joe Neiber, Nashville, TN; sisters: Elizabeth (Brandon) Neeb, West Fargo, ND & Amy (David) Witt, Geneseo, ND; grandchildren: Ryker Kersting & Gannon Brezicka; several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her maternal & paternal grandparents and uncle Clayton Lehmann.
