Ruth Johnson
FOSSTON, Minn. -- Ruth Johnson, 93, Cambridge, Minn., formerly of Fosston and Bagley, Minn., died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, in Grandview Nursing Home, Cambridge.
Ruth Evenson was born Jan. 28, 1907, the daughter of Peter and Thea (Dolden) Evenson, in Cooperstown, N.D. She moved with her family to Fosston. She worked in Duluth, caring for children. She later worked in Minneapolis, caring for three sisters. She married
Julius Johnson. He died Dec. 20, 1969. She moved to Bagley until moving to Brooklyn Center, Minn. She later moved to Cambridge.
She is survived by a brother, Edward, Proctor, Minn.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Agnes Berglund, Bertha Berglund and Jennie Berntson; and a brother, Peter Evenson.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home Chapel, Fosston.
Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral home.
Burial: Rosehill cemetery, Fosston.
Anna Fimreite
CLEARBROOK, Minn. -- Anna Fimreite, 91, Clearbrook, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, in Good Samaritan Center, Clearbrook.
Anna Erickson was born Jan. 10, 1909, the daughter of Charlie and Amelia (Linder) Erickson, in Leon Township, Clearwater County, Minn., where she attended school. She married
Andrew Fimreite on Feb. 11, 1931, in Clearbrook. They moved to a farm in Greenwood Township, Clearwater County in 1938 and to Clearbrook in the 1960s. She worked as a dietary aide at the Good Samaritan Center. Andrew Fimreite died in 1973.
She is survived by daughters, Shirley (Tiny) Knutson, Clearbrook, and Darlene (Dave) Holman, Morris, Minn.; a son, Donald (Lucy), Apple Valley, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Elsie Hallgren, Missoula, Mont., and Ruth Hanson, Clearbrook; and brothers, Art, Albin and Roy, all of Missoula, and Lloyd, Butte, Mont.
She was preceded in death by a son, Duane; sisters, Esther Berglund and Alice Ash; and brothers, Herbert, Victor and Albert.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Clearbrook.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7: 30 p.m. prayer service, Cease Family Funeral Home, Bagley, Minn., and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Greenwood cemetery, Clearbrook. Memorials are suggested to donor's choice.
Joseph Simonson
FOSSTON, Minn. -- Joseph D. "Joe" Simonson, 18, Fosston, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at home.
Joseph Donald Simonson was born June 10, 1981, the son of Mark and Pamela (Mackin) Simonson, in Crookston. He grew up and graduated from high school in Fosston in 1999. He worked for the Fosston golf course, Palubicki's IGA in Fosston, and Hornbacher's in Moorhead. He was attending Moorhead State University.
He is survived by his parents; a sister, Sherry Simonson, Fosston; and grandparents, Donald Mackin, St. Paul, and Donald and Mary Ann Simonson, Fosston.
He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Laura Ann Mackin; and great-grandparents, Joseph and Edella Hedman and Sam and Ruth Simonson.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Kingo Lutheran Church, Fosston.
Visitation: 4: 30 to 6: 30 p.m. Saturday, with a 6: 30 p.m. prayer service, Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, Fosston.
Burial: Kingo Lutheran cemetery.
Michelle Houle
KARLSTAD, Minn. -- Michelle Houle, 31, Karlstad, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at home.
Michelle Lee Houle was born Dec. 2, 1968, the daughter of Raymond and Judith (Syktland) Houle, in Grand Forks, where she graduated from high school. She attended Northland Community and Technical College, Thief River Falls.
She is survived by her mother, Karlstad; a brother, Marlowe (Lora), Grand Forks; and a grandmother, Nadine Skytland, Shakopee, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her father; and grandparents, Andy Skytland, Beatrice (Bercier) and Louis Houle.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks.
Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral home.
Burial: Calvary cemetery, Grand Forks, in the spring.
Raymond Ruel
WINGER, Minn. -- Raymond Ruel, 76, Winger, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at home after a battle with cancer.
Raymond Henry Ruel was born Jan. 13, 1924, the son of Henry and Leona (Cox) Ruel, in Las Animas, Colo. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II. He worked as a smoke jumper, insurance agent, auto and diesel mechanic and a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Jim, Gernay, Forest, Helen, Mark and Faron; 10 grandchildren; and a sister, Nellie Hall.
He was preceded in death by five sisters.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Duane Knutson Community Center, Fertile, Minn.
Burial: Winger City cemetery (Carlin-Hoialmen, Fosston).
Tillie Corneliusen
ROSEAU, Minn. -- Tillie Corneliusen, 78, Roseau, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, in Roseau Area Hospital.
Tillie Louise Pederson was born Aug. 17, 1921, the daughter of Richard and Margret (Langladit) Pederson, in Norland Township, Roseau County, Minn., where she attended school. She worked for the Warroad hospital and the local cafe. She married
Lionel Corneliusen on July 16, 1943, in Roseau. In 1946 they moved to Norland Township where they farmed. She worked for Marvin Windows for 18 years, retiring in 1984.
She is survived by her husband; children, Carol (Carroll) Lunos, Warroad, Barbara (Ron) McKeever, Rice, Minn., Rick (Zoe), Salol, Minn., and Kim Corneliusen, Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence, Warroad, and Palmer, Salol; and a sister, Emma Aldrich, Seattle.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren; brothers, Gilbert, Melvin and Adolph; and a sister, Ann.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Norland Free Lutheran Church, Salol.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. today, with an 8 p.m. devotional service, Helgeson Funeral Chapel, Warroad.
Burial: Norland cemetery.
