Belmont Jelle
BAGLEY, Minn. -- Belmont Jelle, 75, Bagley, died Sunday, July 23, 2000, in Greensview Health Care Center, Bagley.
Belmont Jelle was born Nov. 28, 1924, the son of Julius and Olga (Overby) Jelle, in Grygla, Minn. He attended school in Grygla, Thief River Falls and graduated from high school in Bemidji, in 1943. He joined the U.S. Navy and became a member of the Naval Air Corp. He married
D. Lorrayne Akre on April 15, 1946, in Minneapolis. He was discharged in July 1946. He worked for General Motors parts division in Minneapolis, Aberdeen, S.D., White Bear Lake, Minn., and South St. Paul, Minn. In October 1953, he went to work for Lakehead Pipeline in Superior, Wis. He later transferred to Clearbrook, Minn., where he worked as a diesel mechanic until retiring in 1984.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Sue Ann (Rick) Ruel, Bonita Springs, Fla.; two grandchildren; and brothers, Deane (Myrtle), Minneapolis, and Gordon (Donna), Grygla.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Faith Lutheran Church, Bagley.
Burial: 1: 30 p.m. Saturday, Calvary Lutheran cemetery, Bemidji. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice, American Parkinson Disease Association or Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund (Cease, Bagley).
Todd Erickson
STRATHCONA, Minn. -- Todd A. Erickson, 35, Strathcona, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, in Stacy, Minn.
Todd Alan Erickson was born Sept. 10, 1964, the son of Gaylord and Gale (Sollund) Erickson, in Drayton, N.D. He attended school in Circle Pines, Minn. He worked for Hood as a machine maintainer. He moved to Stacy.
He is survived by daughters, Shauna and Natasha, both of Coon Rapids, Minn.; his parents; brothers, John (Rhonda), Coon Rapids, and Shane (Lynn), Stacy; and grandmothers, Hilda Erickson, Strathcona, and Myrtle Sollund, Karlstad, Minn.
He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Raymond Erickson and John Sollund.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Grace Evangelical Free Church, Strathcona.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Greenwood cemetery, Strathcona (Collins, Greenbush, Minn.).
Esther Erickson
ERSKINE, Minn. -- Esther Erickson, 92, Erskine, formerly of Crookston, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, in Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine, where she had lived since 1993.
Esther Charlotte Erickson was born April 8, 1908, the daughter of Swen and Selma (Pearson) Erickson, in Nelson Park Township, Marshall County, Minn. She attended school in Karlstad, Minn., and graduated from high school in Stephen, Minn. She graduated from Moorhead Teacher's College and taught school in Glyndon and Crookston. She married
Leslie "Les" Erickson on May 30, 1936. They lived in Crookston. She taught summers for Migrant Worker's Summer School. Leslie Erickson died in 1956. She moved to Hawthorne, Calif., Santa Fe, N.M., and in 1992 to Thief River Falls.
She is survived by a son, Lee (Tere), Inglewood, Calif.; and sisters, Marge Hill, Santa Fe, Gladys Johnson and Marian Gigstad, both of Thief River Falls.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley; and a sister, Elsie Rustad.
Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Green Funeral Home Chapel, Thief River Falls.
Visitation: 9 a.m. until time of the services in the funeral home.
Burial: Oakdale cemetery, Crookston.
Sally Merseth
BAGLEY, Minn. -- Sally Merseth, 83, Stuart, Fla., formerly of Lengby and Bagley, Minn., died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, in Martin (Fla.) Memorial Medical Center.
Sally A. Hultberg was born March 12, 1917, the daughter of Nels and Tina (Lomen) Hultberg, in Lengby. She married
Berman Merseth on Aug. 9, 1941. She was a homemaker. She lived in Bagley until she moved to Stuart.
She is survived by daughters, Jo Anne (Jerry) Casada, Palm City, Fla., Betty (Carl) Lindemann, Bismarck, and Rose (Pete) Georgson, West Allis, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchidlren; and sisters, Leona Merseth, Clearbrook, Minn., O'Laila Vangen, Stoughton, Wis., and June Merseth, Northwood, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and a brother, Miles Hultberg.
Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Ebro Corner, rural Bagley.
Visitation: 11 a.m. until the time of services in the church.
Burial: Church cemetery (Carlin-Hoialmen, Fosston, Minn.).
Goodwin Lofstrom
ALVARADO, Minn. -- Goodwin Lofstrom, 84, Alvarado, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, in Valley Eldercare, Grand Forks.
Goodwin Obed Lofstrom was born Nov. 21, 1915, the son of Olof and Stella (Birkness) Lofstrom, in Alvarado, where he graduated from high school. He served in the U.S. Army from Oct. 8, 1941 to Dec. 23, 1945. He returned to Alvarado, where he worked for Soo Line Railroad for 21 years. He then took over the family farm. He retired in 1981. He also worked as custodian at the Alvarado School.
He is survived by sisters, Kathleen Anderson, Devils Lake, Sylvia Neskey, Mount Vernon, Wash., and Esther Hesse, Thief River Falls; and a brother, Harley (Helen), Waterville, Maine.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Iola Northrop and an infant; and a brother, Leland.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, New Hope Lutheran Church, Alvarado.
Visitation: After 6 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home, Warren, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Oaklawn cemetery, Alvarado.
Lucille Wagner
CLEARBROOK, Minn. -- Lucille E. Wagner, 89, Clearbrook, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, in the Good Samaritan Center, Clearbrook, where she had lived since 1993.
Lucille Rice was born Oct. 9, 1910, the daughter of Charles and Cora (Inks) Rice, in Noble County, Ind. She graduated from high school in Wawaka, Ind., in 1929. She married
Robert Anders on Jan. 3, 1931, in Columbia City, Ind. He died Jan. 25, 1965. She married
Edward Wagner in 1973, in Blackduck, Minn. They lived in Indiana until 1974, when she retired after working for International Harvester (Navistar), Ft. Wayne, Ind., for 28 years. They moved to Clearbrook and spent winters in Ohio and Florida. Edward Wagner died in 1979.
She is survived by a daughter, Judith O'Dier, Clearbrook; a daughter-in-law, Bonita Anders, Defiance, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bonny Ramer, Albion, Ind., Betty (Lavoid) Lehman, Topeka, Ind., Maxine (Jack) Hubler, Palmetto, Fla., and Ruth Beason, Newberry, Mich.
She was preceded in death by a son, Arland.
Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Cease Family Funeral Home, Bagley, Minn.
Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral home.
Burial: Eberhard cemetery, Whitley County, Ind.
