Oliver Labine
ARGYLE, Minn. -- Oliver "Buster" Labine, 79, Argyle, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at home.
Oliver Joseph Labine was born Oct. 17, 1921, the son of Phillip and Elizabeth (Proulx) Labine, in Parker Township, Marshall County, Minn. He grew up and attended school in Argyle. He worked at a gas station in California until serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married
Doris Dascomb on Dec. 10, 1945. They lived in Minnesota, where they worked at Marcoux Corner and attended the agricultural school in Crookston, where he received his high school diploma. They moved to Norco, Calif., where he worked as an electrician. In 1950, they moved to Argyle, where they farmed until 1972. In the 1960s, he received his license to practice electrical construction and became a master electrical contractor and started LaBine Electric.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Jeanne Durand and Karen Labine, both of Phoenix, and Barbara (John) Gyllenborg, Grand Forks; sons, Noel, and Charles (Cyndi), both of Argyle, and Mark (Judy), Arden Hills, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; sisters, Muriel Labine, Margaret (Dale) Carlson, Rita (Armand) Bergeron and Carol (Tom) Fox; and a brother, George.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Myra; a son-in-law, Eugene Durand; a granddaughter; and a sister, Helen.
Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Argyle.
Visitation: After 6 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: St. Rose cemetery.
Military rites: Argyle American Legion Post 353 (Quanrud-DuBore, Warren, Minn.).
Doris Anderson
SHELLY, Minn. -- Doris Anderson, 72, Shelly, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, in Hillsboro (N.D.) Hospital.
Doris E. Rude was born March 11, 1928, the daughter of Martin and Tilda (Tronnes) Rude, in Shelly Township, Norman County, Minn. She grew up in Shelly and attended school in Climax, Minn. She moved to California, and returned to Shelly, where she worked at the Shelly Cafe and Halstad (Minn.) Cafe as a waitress. She married
George Anderson on Nov. 23, 1951, in Shelly. They lived in Shelly, where she worked as an Avon Representative. She was a charter member of the singing group "The Inspirations." George Anderson died in 1995.
She is survived by a daughter, Marsha Spokely, Halstad; sons, Kim (Linda), Hillsboro, and Rory (Mari), Grand Forks; sisters, Minnie Wegge, Nielsville, Minn., and Lillian Benolken, North Branch, Minn.; and a brother, Gilmer (Bernice), Ada, Minn.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Myrtle, Marion and Lyleth; and brothers, Earl, Irvin, Glenn and Ray.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, Shelly Marsh River Lutheran Church, Shelly.
Visitation: 9 to 10: 30 a.m. in the church.
Burial: St. Petri cemetery (Stennes, East Grand Forks).
Elizabeth Anderson
WINGER, Minn. -- Elizabeth "Bette" Anderson, 74, Winger, died Sunday Dec. 3, 2000, in Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine, Minn.
Elizabeth Christianson was born April 29, 1926, the daughter of Herman and Olga (Myhre) Christianson, in Winger, where she attended school. She attended high school in Mahnomen and graduated from high school in Fergus Falls. She married
Alfred Lecy on June 16, 1946, in Minneapolis. She worked at Berge's General Store in Winger. She later worked at the Farmers State Bank, Winger. Alfred Lecy preceded her in death. She married
Russ Anderson on July 10, 1982, in Winger. He died in 1992. She assumed his job of Winger City Clerk from 1992 until her retirement in 1998.
She is survived by a son, Tim (Karen) Lecy, Mahnomen; daughters, Juanita (Chuck) Stuhaug, Erskine, Minn., and Karen (Scott) Schimanski, McIntosh, Minn.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred (Donald) Hansen, Erskine.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jim.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Calvary Lutheran Church, Winger.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, all in the church.
Burial: Winger cemetery (Mattson, Winger).
Adella Lindquist
NEWFOLDEN, Minn. -- Adella Lindquist, 92, Newfolden, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, in Camila Rose Convalescent Health Care Center, Coon Rapids, Minn., where she had lived for two years.
Adella Delores Johnson was born Aug. 14, 1908, the daughter of Ole and Martha (Tvedt) Johnson, in Newfolden, where she attended school. She worked at several farms doing domestic work. She married
N. Gunnar Lindquist on April 23, 1929, in Newfolden. They farmed near Newfolden until 1938, when they moved to Newfolden. They were in the restaurant business for 10 years. She worked for several restaurants and for the Newfolden school system, until retiring. She moved to Thief River Falls and in 1987 moved to Anoka, Minn. Gunner Lindquist died in 1973.
She is survived by a son, Lester (Grace), Newfolden; daughters, Edith Rannebarger, Coon Rapids, Minn., and Donna (Ross) Sloan, Pequot Lakes, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Elseth, Thief River Falls.
She was preceded in death by a son, Milton; brothers, Bert, Elmer, George, Oscar, Harold, and Bert; and sisters, Hilda Bach, Minnie Fuhs and Bernice Hoberg.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Newfolden.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Oak Grove cemetery.
Orin Olson
FOSSTON, Minn. -- Orin Olson, 79, Fosston, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, in SCCI Hospital, Fargo.
Orin Ingram Olson was born April 3, 1921, the son of Oliver and Minda (Bjore) Olson, in Columbia Township, Polk County, Minn. He graduated from high school in Fosston. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946 in World War II. He returned to Columbia Township and took over the farm. He worked construction in Montana and worked at the Sugar Beet Plant in Crookston until retiring.
He is survived by brothers and sisters, Theda Olson, Fosston, Mildred (Jerry) Myers, Richmond, Calif., O. Kent, Bagley, Minn., and Philip (Judy), Columbia Falls, Mont.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James.
Services: 1 p.m. Friday, Zion Lutheran Church, Bagley.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, Fosston, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: St. Petri cemetery, Columbia Township.
Margaret Eisert
CLIMAX, Minn. -- Margaret A. Eisert, 63, Climax, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, in Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home, Crookston.
Margaret A. Vettern was born June 1, 1937, the daughter of Milfred and Enid (Leach) Vettern, in Grand Forks. She grew up and attended school in Buxton, N.D. She married
Oren Eisert in Crookston. She had lived in Crookston, Owatonna and Red Wing, Minn., and most recently in Climax. She worked as a licensed nursing assistant and dental assistant in Red Wing.
She is survived by her companion, Wayne Sondreal, Climax; children, Michael (Karen), Burnsville, Minn., Cynthia Kath, Meriden, Minn., Laurie (Michael) Hobson, Jansenville, South Africa, John (Sara), Spencer, Iowa, and David, Rockford, Minn.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sisters, Diana Kotecki, Waukegan, Ill., Jeanne Johnson, Grand Forks, and Maxine (Rod) MacGregor, Zion, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Mark; and a sister, Virginia Berg.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday, Climax Lutheran Church.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stennes Funeral Home, Climax.
Burial: Skatvold cemetery, Climax.
