John Brower
ELDRED, Minn. -- John Brower, 86, Eldred, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, in Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home, Crookston.
John Brower was born Sept. 11, 1914, the son of Harry and Emma (Andringa) Brower, in Eldred. He farmed with his father and later with his brother James. He drove a school bus. He married
Marion Morrisey on April 12, 1940, in Crookston. They farmed in Roome Township. Marion Brower died Nov. 2, 1991.
He is survived by daughters, Mary Jane Richards, Cass Lake, Minn., and Emma (Tim) Tosh, Eldred; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Grace), Crookston; and a brother-in-law, John DeYoung, California.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law; Robert Richards; a sister, Jenny DeYoung; and an infant sister.
Services: 1: 30 a.m. Thursday, Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and one hour before services, all in the church.
Burial: Calvary cemetery, Crookston (Stenshoel-Houske, Crookston).
Neal Gudmundson
PLUMMER, Minn. -- Neal Gudmundson, 49, Plummer, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, in Hillcrest Nursing Home, Red Lake Falls, Minn.
Neal Ray Gudmundson was born March 26, 1951, the son of Gilbert and Leaona (Bratten) Gudmundson, in Crookston. He grew up and attended school in Idaho. He joined the U.S. Army. He married
Debra Haugen on Jan. 26, 1973, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where they lived. They moved to Grand Forks and later to Irregon, Ore. He worked for Beacon's Trucking in Grand Forks and Irregon. In 1995, they moved to Wyandotte Township, Pennington County, Minn. He worked for Hartz Trucking as a truck driver. Debra Gudmundson died June 5, 1999.
He is survived by children, Nicole (Derek) Williams, Jacksonville, Fla., Trishia (Patrick) Gasseling, Wapato, Wash., and Aaron, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; four grandchildren; three sisters, Mary (Lars) Duckstad, Mentor, Minn., Juanita Gudmundson, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Lolita Gudmundson, Redding, Calif.; and brothers, Clayton (Sheila), Ukiah, Ore., and Gilbert, Redding.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Gudmundson; and a brother, Guy.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Calvary Lutheran Church, St. Hilaire, Minn.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Community cemetery, St. Hilaire.
Wendlin Senger
Wendlin "Wendy" Senger, 82, Elk River, Minn., formerly of East Grand Forks, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, in St. John's Hospital, Maplewood, Minn.
Wendlin Senger was born Aug. 14, 1918, the son of John and Magdelena (Weigel) Senger, in Karlsruhe, N.D. He grew up in Glencross, S.D. He married
Ruth Kjorsvik on April 29, 1941, in East Grand Forks. She died Dec. 22, 1970. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for Red Owl Stores as a meat manager. He opened Piggly Wiggly grocery store, East Grand Forks, with his brothers, Frank and Tony. He retired in 1975. He married
Sylvia Becker on March 9, 1974, in East Grand Forks. In 1978, they moved to Big Lake, Minn., and later to Elk River.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Wynell (Bill) Mullooly, Redlands, Calif.; a son, Robin (Alma), Stuart, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Ellen (Carl) Mlynek, Robbinsdale, Minn.; stepsons, Vincent (Joan) Becker, Eden Prairie, Minn., and Mark Becker, Northfield, Minn.; seven grandchildren; sisters, Anna Beck, Minneapolis and Caroline (Jim) Kresel, Brooklyn Park, Minn.; and brothers, Anton (Ann), East Grand Forks and Leo, Manhattan Beach, Calif.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard; a sister, Kay Wald; and brothers, Frank, Edward, and Peter.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, East Grand Forks.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stennes Funeral Home, East Grand Forks.
Burial: Calvary cemetery, Grand Forks.
Paulette LaCoursiere
ERSKINE, Minn. -- Paulette LaCoursiere, 52, Erskine, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, in Riverview Hospital, Crookston.
Paulette Carol Hanson was born Sept. 24, 1948, the daughter of Clifford and Mavis (Sembrick) Hanson Barrow, in Crookston. She grew up and graduated from high school in Erskine in 1966. She worked in Crookston and later in Thief River Falls. She married
Darrel "Pete" LaCoursiere on Aug. 16, 1969. They lived and worked in Red Lake Falls, Minn. In 1973, they moved to Erskine. She worked with her husband at Pete's Repair Shop.
She is survived by her husband; her mother, Mavis (Don) Barrow, Erskine; sisters, Bonnie (Lennie) Gebauer, and Linda (Brian) Lashua, both of Schofield, Wis., and Nanci (Pat) Seidel, Crookston; and a brother, Dale, Erskine.
She was preceded in death by her father; a stepbrother, Barry Barrow; and grandparents Hanson and Sembricks.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday, Grace Lutheran Church, Erskine.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, Erskine.
Burial: Lima cemetery, Fertile, Minn.
Clifford Jackson
McINTOSH, Minn. -- Clifford Jackson, 77, McIntosh, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, in Dakota Heartland Hospital, Fargo.
Clifford Lorence Jackson was born Nov. 1, 1922, the son of Adolph and Annie (Brekke) Jackson, in Lessor Township, Polk County, Minn., where he attended school. He farmed on the family farm until retiring in 1980.
He is survived by cousins.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Orene Jackson.
Graveside services: 1 p.m. today, Trinity Lutheran cemetery, McIntosh (Carlin-Hoialmen, McIntosh).
Gabriel Perez
DILWORTH, Minn. -- Gabriel Perez, 26, Dilworth, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, in East Grand Forks.
Gabriel Perez was born July 12, 1974, the son of Luis and Romanita (Trevino) Perez, in Carrizo Springs, Texas. He grew up and attended school in Crystal City, Texas. He moved to Moorhead and Dilworth in 1989.
He is survived by his mother, East Grand Forks; his father, Dilworth; children, Gabriel Jr., Lisette, and Carlos, all of Moorhead; brothers, Luis Jr. (Cynthia), Israel, and Rafael, all of East Grand Forks, and Ismael, Moorhead; and a grandmother, Rosita Trevino.
He was preceded in death by two grandfathers; and a grandmother.
Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, East Grand Forks.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Resurrection cemetery, East Grand Forks.
Ronald Mendick
OSLO, Minn. -- Ronald A. Mendick, 70, Rogue River, Ore., formerly of Oslo, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, in Medford, Ore.
Ronald A. Mendick was born Dec. 5, 1929, the son of Edward and Agnes Mendick, in Oslo, where he graduated from high school in 1947. He served with the U.S. Army from 1947-1948. He re-enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War. He graduated from UND in 1958. He attended the University of California in Long Beach where he received his medical technicians license. He worked at the Veterans Hospital in Long Beach for 20 years. He retired and moved to Rogue River.
He is survived by sisters, Mrs. Ray Awes and Mrs. Oliver Selnes, both of Oslo; and a brother, Edward, Anaheim, Calif.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Ernest, Rodney and David.
Services: Were held in Rogue River.
