Carol J. Lampert
FREEBURG, Minn. - Carol J. Lampert, 63, of Freeburg, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, Wis.
She was born icon Nov. 17, 1935, in St. Paul, Minn., to Gerhart and Inez (Wifall) Virock. She married icon Lloyd Lampert Jan. 22, 1955, in St. Paul.
Carol belonged to the Crooked Creek Homemakers. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd of Freeburg; her mother, Inez Virock of St. Paul; two sons, Jeffrey (Karen) of Brownsville and Michael (Dona) of Caledonia; a daughter, Debra (James) Hoscheit of Caledonia; eight grandchildren, Shannon, Lindsey, Kelsey, Haley, April, Lucas, Joshua, and Colton Lampert; and three brothers, Richard (Marie) Virock of St. Paul, Bruce (Susie) Virock of Houston and David (LeAnn) Virock of Houston. She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Evangelical Church, Brownsville. Rev. Phil Williams will officiate and burial will be in Peace United Church of Christ Cemetery, Crooked Creek. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church Monday, and one hour prior to the services Tuesday. Memorials are preferred to Peace United Church of Christ Cemetery Fund.

Gladys E. Hanson
LANESBORO, Minn. - Gladys E. Hanson, 96, of Lanesboro, Minn., died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. She was born icon Sept. 22, 1902, in La Crosse, Wis. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro. Visitation at the church one hour prior to services Tuesday. Johnson-Riley, Lanesboro, is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Horatio Greene
OWATONNA, Minn. - Charles Horatio Greene, 80, of Owatonna, Minn., died on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at Bloomfield Manor in Dodgeville, Wis., two days after being transferred from the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Minneapolis. Charles had been an Owatonna, Minn., resident since 1986, most recently at Westside Board and Care, (3003 West, Hwy. 14, Owatonna, Minn. 55060).
Charles was born icon on May 17, 1918, in Woodstock, Ill. He graduated from Marshfield (Wis.) High School in 1938. After high school, he worked on his father's farm and other farms. He was also a Janitor at Todd School for Boys in Woodstock. When drafted into World War II, he served in a construction battalion of the Navy Seabees. After the war, he earned his pilot's license. He returned to Marshfield and worked at a cheese and poultry plant, at a whey-drying firm, and for the city's power plant. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Air Force for one year.
He was employed for over thirty years at the Trane Company in La Crosse, Wis. from 1951, until his retirement in 1982. He underwent triple bypass surgery in April of 1984. Charles was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Owatonna, the La Crosse chapters of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a life member of the National Rifle Association.
In August of 1986, he enrolled at Pillsbury Baptist Bible College. Ten years later, on May 19, 1996, he graduated at age 78 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Bible and minoring in Church Ministries and Greek. He holds the distinction of being the oldest students ever to graduate from Pillsbury.
Charles never married. He was the oldest of nine children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Elma (Hakes) Greene; two sisters, Helen Lengas and Mary Thompson; a brother, Gerald Greene and a nephew, Steven Welter. He is survived by three sisters, Elaine Welter of De Kalb, Ill., Jean (Paul) McVay of Manhattan Beach, Calif. and Gladys Greene of Los Angeles; two brothers, Wayne Greene of Waupace and James (Alice) Greene of Dodgeville; a brother-in-law, Harry Lengas of Cape Cod, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Marlene Greene of Nekoosa; as well as ten nephews and eleven nieces.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at Grace Baptist Church, 265 NE 26th St., Owatonna, Minn. The Rev. Randy Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Chili, Wis. on Charles parents' gravesite. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Pillsbury Baptist Bible College Library or the Veterans of Foreign Wars would be appreciated. The Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home, Dodgeville is serving the family.

Nancy L. (Haines) Mollert
PLAINVIEW, Minn. - Nancy L. (Haines) Mollert, 59, of Plainview, Minn., died Thursday evening, Nov. 26, 1998, of cancer at the Rochester Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minn. She was born icon May 22, 1939, in Arcadia, Wis. to Cyril and Arvilla (Reck) Haines. Nancy Louise Haines was married icon May 2, 1959, at La Crosse, Wis., to Robert E. Mollert.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Mollert; three daughters, Tammy (Dan) Ganz of Rochester, Minn., Julie (Dan) Jensen of Rochester, Minn., and Sue (Bob) Conklin of Green Bay, Wis.; one son, Jim (Mary Ann) Mollert of Kasson, Minn.; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rea Gamoke of Arcadia, Wis., Fritzie (Bud) Peterson of Evansville, Wis., and Marlene (Tom) Mulrine of Onalaska, Wis.; and one brother, Peter (Cece) Haines of Madison, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Nancy graduated from Holmen High School in 1956. In 1968, the Mollerts moved to Elgin, Minn. In 1985, they moved to Plainview, Minn. Her husband is a retired carpenter. Nancy was employed as a line operator at Lakeside Foods, Plainview, Minn. for many years, until retiring because of ill health this past October. She was a member of St. Joachims Catholic Church, Plainview, Minn.
Casket bearers are Pat Mulrine, Mike Mulrine, Tim Mulrine, Jim Mollert, Bruce Mickow and John Hartert.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, St. Joachims Catholic Church of Plainview, Minn. Father Donald F. Connelly officiating. Burial in St. Joachims Catholic Cemetery, Plainview, Minn. Friends may call at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, Plainview, Minn. on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Schleicher Funeral Homes of Plainview, Minn. is assisting the family with arrangements.

Geraldine Halverson
HOUSTON, Minn. - Geraldine Halverson, 75, died Monday, November 30, 1998, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. Geraldine Swenson was born icon March 28, 1923, in Sheldon, Minn., to Jorgen and Vivian (Carrier) Swenson. On Jan. 9, 1943, she married icon Ernest Halverson in Winona, Minn. He later died Oct. 29, 1982. Geraldine worked for 24 years with Ace Telephone in Houston, retiring as assistant data processing supervisor in 1983. She was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Houston. Geraldine will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all.
Geraldine is survived by two daughters, Leslie Guggenberger of Fort Collins, Colo., and LeeAnn (Robert) Gustavson of Thornton, Colo.; one grandson, Adam Guggenberger; three sisters, Betty (Gordon) Hatleli of Rushford, Minn., Ramona (Hollace) Huebner of Houston, Minn., and Theresa (Allton) Peterson of Houston, Minn.; an aunt, Myrtle Sweet of Houston, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernest; and one brother, Guy Swenson.
Funeral services are planned for Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at 2 p.m. at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, with the Reverend Mark Rydberg officiating. Burial will be in the Stone Church Cemetery in Houston. Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Hoff Funeral Homes-Houston Chapel; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Irene Geneva Blexrud
SPRING GROVE, Minn. - Irene Geneva Blexrud, age 83, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 1997, at home. Irene was born icon August 10th, 1914, to Ole and Anna Maria Morken. She married icon George Blexrud on May 3, 1941. George preceded her in death in 1995.
Irene was a lifelong resident of Spring Grove and Wilmington, and a member of Wilmington Lutheran Church, where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. She graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1932, and later returned as head cook for many years until her retirement in 1979.
Irene was an active member of Wilmington Lutheran Church. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and helped plan and prepare countless dinners.
Irene had many interests including creating beautiful handwork, growing flowers, corresponding with family and friends, cooking and baking, caring for grandchildren, shoes and bright colors, and her ``kids" and co-workers at school.
She was a source of constant smiles and laughter, loved to tell and laugh at stories, but most of all, she loved being with George and going to dinner and dancing with their friends. She will be missed by all.
Irene is survived by one son, Tom and his wife Jan of Spartanburg, S.C.; two grandchildren, Sarah Blexrud of Charlotte, N.C. and Adam Blexrud of Camarillo, Calif.; one great-grandson, Cole Kleinman, son of Sarah and her husband, Tom Kleinman; and her beloved sister Lulu Engene, of Spring Grove; and nephews, nieces, relatives, and many friends.
The memorial service is at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 27 at Wilmington Lutheran Church, rural Spring Grove. Interment will be at Wilmington Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 26th at Roble Funeral Home, Spring Grove, Minn.
Officiating at the service will be Pastor Rolf T. Storlie, and Pastor Elizabeth Stempinski.

Martha Geneva "Gen" Minor
LA CRESCENT, Minn. - Martha Geneva "Gen" Minor, 91, of La Crescent, Minn., died Saturday, September 27, 1997 at La Crescent Health Care. She was born icon December 7, 1905 in the town of Jefferson, Vernon County, Wis., to Edward Theodore and Bertha Caroline (Larson) Ellefson. On April 28, 1931 she married icon Irvin Michael Hansen in La Crosse, Wis. He died January 8, 1946. She then married icon Walton ``Bill" Elmer Minor on June 28, 1947 in La Crosse, Wis. He died February 28, 1989.
Martha graduated from UW-L in 1929 with a bachelor's degree in history and taught for several years in La Crosse area schools. She worked for a number of years for the La Crosse Garment Company; was a recorder for the U.S. Census Bureau in 1970; and a member of the Houston County Welfare Board for eight years, retiring in 1974. Martha also volunteered as a 4-H project leader for many years.
In 1931, Martha and three teachers from Melrose borrowed a 1929 Nash 4-door with outside trunk and wood spoke tires to drive from La Crosse, Wis., to Great Falls, Mont. They had no maps to guide them on the gravel roads.
Martha received the "Athlete of the Month" award from Wisconsin Silent Sports in August, 1984, for her bicycling accomplishments. Among Martha's varied interests were horseback riding, touring the countryside on a motorcycle and traveling extensively with her husband, Bill, in their motorhome.
Survivors are a son, Edward Allen (Vangie) Hansen of Montrose, Colo.; a daughter, Helen Elizabeth (Steven) Brieske of Salida, Colo.; two stepsons, Kenneth LeRoy (Janet) Minor of La Crosse and Donald Eldon (Alice) Minor of Coon Rapids, Minn.; a brother, Ellef Johan Ellefson; grandchildren, Brenda (Mark) Wiard, Lisa (Hill) Hauser, Craig (Kerry) Hansen and Karen Hansen; great-grandchildren, Matthew Nielson and Jody and Kyle Hauser; step-grandchildren, Sandra Ross and Billy (Sheri) Minor of Milwaukee, Wis., Bruce (Brier) Minor and Rick (DeeDee) Minor of Minneapolis, Minn., Kenneth Lee (Janet) Minor, David (Sandy) Minor, Brian (Lesa) Minor and Linda (Brian) Liethsen, all of La Crosse, Donald (Melanie) Minor of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Bob (Christine) Minor of St. Paul, Minn.; 25 stepgreat-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Martha was predeceased by one step-grandson and one step-great-grandson.
Mary (David) Danforth of Brook Park, Minn., regularly mailed cheerful cards and notes, which were always enjoyed by Martha. The special gift of Mary's enduring love for her grandma will shine forever. Fune
ral services will be Friday, October 3 at 1 p.m. at the Sletten McKee Hanson Funeral Home, La Crosse. The Reverend Jed Larson will officiate. Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.

Elsie Tangen
MABEL, Minn. - Elsie Tangen, 88, of Mabel, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, in Green Lea Manor Nursing Home, Mabel, Minn., where she had been a resident since 1993. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, in Stavenger Lutheran Church, with burial in the church Cemetery, rural Ossian, Iowa. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m., with an 8 p.m. prayer service, in Mengis Funeral Home, Mabel, Minn.

Ole S. Skorge
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Ole S. Skorge, 88, of Minneapolis and formerly of Galesville, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998, in his home.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at Zwickey Funeral Homes in Galesville. Burial will follow in the Trempealeau Public Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
