William Ibberson Jr., 74,of Sleepy Eye, died on Friday, May 16, 2003, at his home.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, with Pastor Ron Freimark officiating. Interment will be at the Veterans Memorial Garden Section of Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye, with military rites by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard. Visitation will be at 3:30 - 8 p.m. today and 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, and will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Tuesday.
William was born on Nov. 16, 1928, at Union Hospital in New Ulm, to William Ibberson and Hannah Foster-Ibberson. He grew up on a farm 5 1/2 miles north of Sleepy Eye in Home Township. He attended Dist. No.17 country school through the eighth grade and then graduated from the Sleepy Eye Public High School. He served in the United States military in Korea, and on return attended Gustavus Adolphus College. After graduation he returned to Sleepy Eye to farm with his father until 1959.
In 1959,William purchased the Cecil W. Berkner Insurance Agency. In 1969, his agency was merged with the First National Bank Agency. Bill became manager and managed the agency for 36 years until he semi-retired. The agency was then sold to the First Security Agency of Minnesota Inc., where Bill worked on a part-time basis until the present.
Bill served on the First Security Bank Board of Directors, the Sleepy Eye Hospital Board, The Sleepy Eye Golf Club Board, Chamber of Commerce, State Board of Directors of the Independent Insurance Agents of Minnesota, President of the Southwest Association of Independent Insurance Agents, and Minnesota Bankers Insurance Board. Bill was also an avid member and past president of the Sleepy Eye Lions Club. He was a member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ and served on the Church Council for more than 40 years, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Bill also was a life member of the American Legion Post No. 7 and the VFW Post No. 100. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Zuhrah Shrine Temple.
Bill is survived by his wife Colleen; four children, Lee and wife Beverly Ibberson, Paulette and husband Greg Grausam, Jeffery and wife Lisa Ibberson, and Sue and husband Jerry Forster; a brother, Robert Ibberson; two sisters, Maurine Johnson of Mankato, and Marlene Satre of Winthrop; and grandchildren, Chris, Terry Ibberson and Faye Nelson, Matt and Mark Grausam, Anna and Mya Ibberson, and Kallie and Megan Forster; and one great-grandchild Kyle Nelson. Bill was preceded in death by his parents William Sr. and Hannah (Foster) Ibberson.

Lucas M. Steffl, 19, of New London. died Sunday, May 18, 2003, in a single car accident near Spicer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 21, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Spicer.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home in New London with a 7 p.m. parish prayer service and continues one hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
Lucas is survived by his parents, Michael and Roxanne Steffl of New London; brothers, Isaac, Sam, and Zachary Steffl; maternal grandmother, Lucille Pietig of Redwood Falls; and paternal grandparents, Cyril and Carol Steffl of Springfield.
Lucas was preceded in death by his grandfather Hap Pietig; uncle, Steve Steffl; and cousin, Jessica Frank.
Lucas Michael Steffl was born on June 13, 1983, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Michael and Roxanne (Pietig) Steffl. He graduated from New London-Spicer High School in 2002 and was attending University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Morrell Anderson, 86, of the Gibbon and Winthrop area, died April 19, 2003, at the Oschner Hospital in New Orleans, La. Morrell and his wife had spent the winter months in that area since retirement.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2003, at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon, with Pastor Allan Johnson officiating. Private interment will be in the Winthrop Cemetery in Winthrop.
The family will receive friends and relatives 12:30 - 2 p.m. Sunday at the church. Arrangements are with the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon.
Morrell is survived by his wife Margaret of Gibbon; a daughter, Carol Grones and her husband Kirk of Shorewood; a son, Gordon Anderson and his wife Charlotte of New Orleans, La; grandchildren, Kristina and Kara Grones of Shorewood, Emily and Peter Anderson of New Orleans; brothers, Charles Anderson and his wife Marion of Gaylord, and Vernon Anderson, a resident of the Veterans Home in Minneapolis; sisters, Marie Abraham and her husband Edgar of Gaylord, Joanne Messner and her husband Earl of Anoka, Helen Schlottmann of Stafford, Va., and Joyce Schloegel, and her husband Felix of Roseville; and sisters-in-law, Maxine Anderson, of South Shore, S.D. and Margaret (Mrs. Robert) Anderson of Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Grace Anderson; and by brothers, Marvin, Robert, Harlan and Grant.
Morrell Gordon Anderson, the son of Ernest and Grace (Olson) Anderson, was born on May 23, 1916, in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County. He was baptized and confirmed at the Bernadotte Lutheran Church. He graduated from the Winthrop High School in 1934, and then attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, graduating in 1939.
In 1951, Morrell received a master's degree from the University of Minnesota. On March 29, 1942, he was united in marriage to Margaret Albrecht at the First Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Early in his career he was employed in the school system, teaching high school, coaching and being the principal at Clearbrook High School in Clearbrook from 1941 - 1945. From 1945 - 1949 he was the High School Principal in Gibbon, and from 1949 -1966 he became the superintendent of the Gibbon Community School.
In 1966, he changed careers and went into banking becoming the assistant cashier of the Citizens State Bank of Gibbon. He later became the Vice President of the bank and also a member of the bank's Board of Directors. He retired in 1987.
Morrell was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon, a charter member of the Gibbon Lions Club, and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, where he was a current member. He had been a member of the Gibbon City Council, the Augustana Church Board, the Sibley County Bankers Association, the Region III of Minnesota State High School League Committee, the District 10 Minnesota State High School League, the Southwest Division of the MEA, the Minnesota Education Association Delegate Assembly and the Sibley County Nursing Board. He had been Chairman of the Christmas Seal and the Salvation Army of Sibley County.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial to the Morrell and Margaret Anderson Scholarship Fund through Augustana Lutheran Church.

Edwin Albertson, 92, of Springfield, died on Monday, May 19, 2003, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Church in Springfield, with burial at Springfield City Cemetery. Pastor Carl Seamon and Pastor Mark Johnson will be officiating. There will be a visitation 4 - 8 p.m. today and continuing 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
Edwin Max Albertson, the son of Henry and Pauline (Holtznagel) Albertson, was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Sanborn. He graduated from Sanborn High School, after which Ed entered Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Ed captained the baseball team and became one of the school's most outstanding athletes before graduating in 1934. He signed a major league baseball contract with the Detroit Tigers in 1934, playing professionally in both the United States and Canada until 1942. Many who love baseball will always remember Eddie as the sure-handed shortstop/third baseman, who managed the Springfield Tigers in the old Western Minnie League, where he played from 1947 - 1953.
Eddie devoted 42 years of his life to the teaching profession as a math and science teacher, coach, principal and athletic director. He started teaching and coaching in 1934, in Lansing, Iowa, where he met Alice Helvig, an English teacher. On June 14, 1942, they were married at Waverly Lutheran Church near Trimont.They moved to Monona, Iowa, teaching there until moving to Springfield in 1947. Eddie's baseball teams in Lansing and Monona made frequent trips to the state tournaments. Eddie was known as an excellent teacher in the Springfield school system until his retirement in 1976. He influenced his students with his integrity and compassion for others.
While residing in Springfield, Eddie served as President of the Brown County Area Retired Educators Association, was selected "Teacher of the Year" in 1972, was inducted into the Luther College Hall of Fame in 1975, was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he served as a deacon, trustee and secretary of the building committee. He was a member of the Lions Club and Springfield Chamber of Commerce. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife Alice; a son, Douglas and wife Linda of Apple Valley; a daughter, Janet Stolba of Plymouth; grandchildren, Nicholas Albertson, Dr. Sonia Marie and husband Ryan Sather, Kristin Ann and husband Tim Hayes, Rebecca Lynn Albertson, Ross and wife Amy Albertson, Mitchell and wife Stacy Stolba and Adam Stolba; and great-grandchildren, Lauren, Mathew and Rachel Sather, Lydia and Gus Hayes, and Hannah Stolba.
He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Patricia Ann and Gary Lee; and sisters, Leone Miesen, Viola Gebhard and Elaine Enemark.

Marjorie DePyper, 80, of Lamberton, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at the Valley View Manor in Lamberton.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 22, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lamberton, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lamberton.
Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church and will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Thursday. Arrangements are with the Walnut Grove Funeral Home in Walnut Grove.
She is survived by her daughters, Marie Dubauskas of Claredon Hills, Ill., Pat Stiles of Lamberton, Gloria Depyper of Mankato, Mary Layman of Checotah, Okla., Jeanette Edwards of Mankato, and Kathy Willert of Gaylord; sons, Larry DePyper of Lynd, and David Depyper of Le Sueur; 27 grandchildren; one foster grandchild; 30 great-grandchildren; and sister Mary Lou Matuska of Grand Rapids.
Marjorie Ann DePyper was born Oct. 31, 1922, in Tyler, to George and Norma (Dale) Baldwin of Grand Rapids.

Marie Freyholtz, 101, formerly of Fairfax, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center in Arlington.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2003, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fairfax, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 - 11 a.m., Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Arrangements are with the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home.
Marie is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Florentine Olson of Eugene, Ore., and Betty Ann and Fred Zollner of Paynesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Waldemar and Marilyn Freyholtz of New Ulm, and Kenneth and Ordella Freyholtz of Sumner, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arnold Freyholtz on Jan. 12, 1982; one sister; five brothers; and a son-in-law, Vincent Olson on March 11, 1963.
Marie was born on Oct.18, 1901, in Granby Township, Nicollet County, to John and Anna (Ahlenstorf) Micke. Her parents died early in her life and she was then raised by the Albert Bentz family in Moltke Township, Sibley County.
She married Arnold W. Freyholtz on May 26, 1922, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Moltke Township, Sibley County. After marriage they farmed in Wellington Township, Renville County, until 1949, when they moved to Fairfax. She had worked in laundry at the Renfair Nursing Home in Fairfax, and later worked in laundry at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax. For about the last 10 years she was a resident of the Arlington Good Samaritan Center in Arlington. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Fairfax.

Rita Rejsek, 87, of Redwood Falls, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Redwood Area Hospital.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Redwood Falls with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Wednesday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls.
She is survived by her husband Jim of Redwood Falls; son Richard of Morgan; daughters, Janet Rudolph of Brooklyn Center; sister Clara Dolan of Minneapolis; brother Ambrose Kahnke of Courtland; seven grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
She was born Oct. 15, 1915, in Becker County to Ambrose and Clara (Mertens) Kahnke.

Rose Westphal, 82, of Stewart, died Sunday, May 18, 2003 at Glencoe Regional Health Services.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, May 22, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stewart with burial in Buffalo Lake City Cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her children, Stanley and Larry, both of Stewart; four grandchildren; a brother, Harry Slipka of Stewart and a sister, Ruth Nelson of Glencoe.
She was born Dec. 25, 1920, in St. Paul to Henry Joseph and Rose (Korson) Slipka.

Robert Gerber, 79, formerly of New Ulm, died Monday, May 19, 2003, in Palm Beach, Fla., after a very long illness.
He was the loving father of Robert Gerber of Toronto, Canada, Thomas Gerber of West Palm Beach, Fla., Mary Gerber Bean of Plano, Texas, Richard Gerber of Salem, Ore., James Gerber of Virginia Beach, Va., and Douglas Gerber, who preceded him in death in 1989.
He was the son of Frank and Margaret Gerber, both of whom preceded him in death, as did his wife Phyllis (Schnobrich) Gerber.
Bob served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and retired from the service some 20 years later.

Barb Koepp, 53, of Morgan, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at her home.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday, May 23, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Thursday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Morgan.
She is survived by her mother Edna of Morgan; daughters, Stacy Hipskind of Cameron, N.C. and Dana Gohr of Clements; four granddaughters; and sister, Priscilla "Pat" of Sioux Falls, S.D.
She was born July 23, 1949, in Sioux Falls, S.D. to Eugene and Edna (Larson) Koepp.

Bernice F. Moeller, 91, of Springfield, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 23, at St. John Lutheran Home Chapel with burial in Sundown Lutheran Chapel in Springfield.
Visitation is Friday at the chapel, one hour prior to the service.
She was born Dec. 15, 1911 in Clements to Andrew and Marie (Jacobsen) Olson.
Arrangements are handled by Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.

Stella Zollner, 84, of Fairfax, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 24, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax, with burial at the church cemetery in Cairo Township, Renville County.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday and 7:30-10 a.m., Saturday at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax.

Byron Christensen, 89, of Redwood Falls, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at the Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.
Services are 11 a.m., Saturday, May 24, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with burial in Sundown Lutheran Cemetery in Sundown Township.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Friday at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service and Saturday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife Angeline of Redwood Falls; daughter Joy Asao of Maple Plain; son Paul of Eden Prairie; and three grandsons.
He was born April 29, 1914, in Sundown Township, Redwood County, to Martin and Anna (Christiansen) Christensen. He served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 17, 1942, to Oct. 30, 1945.

Stella Zollner, 84, of Fairfax, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 24, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax, with burial in the church cemetery
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Friday, from 7:30-10 a.m., Saturday at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax. There will be a rosary prayed by the Christian Mothers at 6 p.m., and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral chapel.
Stella is survived by son, David Zollner of Fairfax; daughters, Judith "Judy" Mohr of North Mankato, Carla Hines of Willmar and Rhonda Hughes of Mankato; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and brother, Eugene Dallmann of Cosmo.
Stella (Dallmann) Zollner was born January 4, 1919. She was the daughter of Robert and Alice (Bulau) Dallmann.

Wilbert Schweim, 86,of Springfield, MN died on Thursday, May 22, 2003 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Services will be Wednesday, May 28 at 11 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Wabasso, with burial at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Springfield.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 4-7 p.m., at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
He is survived by his wife Lillian of Springfield; sisters, Alta Fixsen of Seaforth and Lila (Mrs. Glen) Hoffman of Wabasso.
He was born Jan. 25, 1917 in North Star Township to Albert and Anna ( Wensel) Schweim.

Duane Peterson, 66, of rural Lake Crystal and formerly of Madelia, died Saturday May 24, 2003, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Services are 10 a.m., Wednesday, at Madelia Church of Christ.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, at Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia and continues one hour before the services on Wednesday.
