Pauline Bridgman
1924-2010
Pauline Bridgman 85 of Gallatin passed away Thursday May 20, 2010 at the Liberty Hospital. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday May 23 at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin where friends may call after 12 noon, Saturday. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service. Burial will be at the Cope cemetery near Weatherby. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairview Community Church or Cope cemetery, in care of the Funeral Home.
Pauline was born to Luther and Florence (Williamson) Morrison; one of four sisters. She married her high school sweet-heart, Vern Bridgman in 1942 in Yuma, Arizona, prior to Vern leaving for the war. They and their two boys, Gary and Bruce, lived in various places that the Marine Corps sent them for 22 ½ years before returning to Daviess County.
Pauline was a life long member of the Fairview Community Church near Winston MO, where she took an active part as piano player. She had a love for her family, her Church family as well as reading and horses. Pauline was greatly loved, and will be greatly missed, but is now at home with her Lord.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Francis Russell and Jean Staehnke and one great-grandson.
Pauline is survived by her husband of 67 years Vern, of the home; her two sons: Gary and wife Vonda of The Dalles, OR, Bruce and wife Shelia of Gallatin MO; her sister: Loma Morrison of Peculiar, MO; 6 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Twyla M. Breer
1957-2012
Twyla M. Breer 54 of Jamesport, MO passed away Friday evening January 20, 2012 as the result of a car accident.
Twyla was born February 12, 1957 to Ronald Lee and May Dale (Moore) Heriford in Kirkwood, MO. In her early years she worked various jobs. After the birth of her son, James, Twyla was a stay at home mom, taking care of his every need. At the time of her death, she was employed at the Casey’s General Store in Gallatin. Twyla was united in marriage to Lonnie L. Breer April 21, 2000 at Tonka State Park in Camdenton, MO. The couple moved to Jamesport in 2001.
Twyla was a remarkable woman who enjoyed singing, loved to go camping, and was a devoted member of the Grand River Muzzleloaders Association, a pre 1840’s style rendezvous mountain man club. She looked forward to the gatherings where hundreds of people would camp in canvas tents, wear primitive dress of various sorts, socialize, shoot black powder weapons, throw tomahawks and knives and practice various other skills that were used to survive in that time.
Twyla had a heart the size of the moon. She was not just a loving mother, wife and grandmother but a best friend and confidante. She was tough as nails, but loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Twyla was preceded in death by her father Ronald Lee Heriford.
Twyla is survived by her husband Lonnie Breer of the home, son, James Robert Moore of Eldon, MO, mother, Dale Heriford of Nixa, MO, brothers, Daniel Heriford of Merced, CA, Martin Heriford of St. Louis, MO, sisters, Tanya Parker and Ronda Heriford, both of Nixa, MO, and grandchild Cheyenne Nicole Moore of Macks Creek, MO.

Michelle (Norma) Jean Hathaway
1932-2011
Michelle (Norma) Jean Hathaway of Kansas City, MO. 79 formerly of Gallatin passed away Monday, November 7th 2011 at North Care Hospice House. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Daviess County Senior Citizens Center.
Michelle was born May 26, 1932 to Leonard and Frances Ruth (Wilson) Kessinger in Springfield, IL. She attended grade school in Springfield and high school in Simla CO. Michelle was united in marriage to Elias Drotar in October of 1949 and the couple made their home in Denver until they divorced in the late 1950’s. To this union 3 children were born Cher, Kathryn and David. Michelle later married Kenneth Francis Whaley in September of 1960. They made their home in Glendale, CA, Dearborn MI and Bethany, MO until Kenneth’s passing in 1988. During that time Michelle went to cosmetology school and became a licensed cosmetologist. In 1989 Michelle became a licensed LPN and dedicated her nursing career caring for the elderly in both the Gallatin and Bethany areas. She always put her patient’s needs first and did what it took to make them comfortable. Michelle was united in marriage to Jack Hathaway in 1996 in Gallatin where they resided until his death eight months later. She continued to reside in Gallatin. Beginning in 1998 Michelle spent several of her summers in Idaho to be near her oldest daughter Cher and her family. In 2006 she moved to Kansas City to be near her son Dave and her daughter Kathryn and her family.
Michelle was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Gallatin. She also was a member of the local VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Michelle was a quilter and enjoyed crocheting afghans. Michelle expressed her love for family by giving quilts and afghans she made. She was an avid reader and loved gardening. She made lasting relationships wherever she went. Michelle was a caring person who loved to keep in contact with her immediate and extended family whether it was calls, letters or visits. Michelle was a loving mother and grandmother who’s kind and loving nature will be greatly missed but not forgotten.
Michelle was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Kenneth Whaley and Jack Hathaway and a brother, Merrill Kessinger.
Survivors include her daughters, Cher Coulter, Donnelly, ID, Kathryn Walker, Shawnee, KS, Son, David Drotar, Kansas City, MO, brother, Jack Kessinger, St. Joseph, MO stepsons, Barry Hathaway, Escondido CA, Kenneth Whaley Jr, Fort Collins CO, John Whaley Philippines, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Donald K. Ramsbottom
1943- 2011
Don Ramsbottom passed away Monday September 19, 2011 at his home. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial will be at Hillcrest cemetery, near Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in Gallatin.
Don was born May 13, 1943 to Oren and Virginia (Hall) Ramsbottom at the family home in Gallatin. He graduated from Gallatin High School in 1961 and began working for the Blackburn Motor Company in Gallatin as a mechanic. Don was united in marriage to Judy Stuebinger on July 20, 1968 in Gallatin where the couple lived all of their married life. In 1973, he began working for Donaldson’s Air Cleaner Manufacturing Company in Chillicothe as a welder; Don retired in 2005 after 32 years of dedicated service. In 1975, he purchased the Gallatin Car Wash where he spent many hours taking care of his customers needs. After retirement he expanded his business to include tire repair and car detail.
Don was a devoted member of the First Christian Church, serving as a Deacon for several years. He greatly enjoyed the fellowship he shared with his church family and was always eager to help when needed. Don was a Scout Master for Troop 67 leading the Troop for 10 years, for his dedication he was made an honorary member of the tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was always interested in helping with the kids projects. Don enjoyed bowling and was on a league in Hamilton. He was an avid football fan and on any given Sunday afternoon you could find him watching his favorite team. He loved spending time with Emma Rose and looked forward to her visits. When time permitted he liked to fish and spend time outside. Don was a person of faith and lived life serving others; he was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Charles Ramsbottom, and sister in-law, Willa Dean Ramsbottom.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Judy of the home, Son, Charlie Ramsbottom and wife Julie of Maysville, MO, Daughter, Amanda Ramsbottom of Gallatin, Brother, Bob Rams bottom of Evansville, IN, and Granddaughter Emma Rose Ramsbottom.

Melvin R. Turner
1944- 2011
Melvin R. Turner 67 of Altamont, MO passed away Wednesday June 1, 2011 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center. Graveside Inurnment Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at Mt Ayr cemetery near Altamont. Memorial contributions may be made to the KAW First Responders or Mt. Ayr cemetery in care of McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin.
Melvin was born February 7, 1944 to Ralph and Mary (Longers) Turner in Collins, MO. The Turner family moved to Altamont, MO when Melvin was 5 years old, where he lived most of his life. Melvin attended school in Gallatin. He was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Teeter October 26, 1962 in Chillicothe, MO; she preceded him in death May 10, 2008 after 45 years of marriage. Melvin was employed at Lake City Arsenal in Kansas City, Wood Brothers Construction in Gallatin, and the Stride Rite Shoe Factory in Hamilton, and in 2010 Melvin retired from the Western Missouri Correctional Center in Cameron. He enjoyed his part time job working for the City of Altamont, reading meters as well as mowing and maintaining City Property. He liked to stay busy and looked forward to the time he could be outside.
Melvin spent many hours watching animal planet on TV and especially liked western movies. Caring for his 2 dogs gave him great pleasure and companionship. He was devoted to his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He looked forward to their visits and treasured the time he spent with them. Melvin was a loving Dad, brother and granddad who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Cleo and Carol and wife Kay.
Survivors include his daughters, Angela Johnson and husband Jeff of Gallatin, son Melvin Turner Jr. and wife LaDonna of Altamont, Shelli Christopher and fiancé Ryan Ranes of Jamesport, sister, Evelyn Redman and husband Dale of Altamont, Grandchildren Stephanie Phelps, Jordan Phelps, Dustin Crouse, Angel Crouse, Rebecca Turner, Marah Johnson and Emma Christopher and his 2 great-grandchildren Quincey and Shaylee Carter.

Janet Rose Gotschall
1928- 2011
Janet Rose Gotschall, 83, our beloved mother passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter Marcia in Gladstone, MO on September 22, 2011 after a long illness. Friends may call after 11am Saturday at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial will be held at the Coffey cemetery in Coffey. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Gallatin in care of McWilliams Funeral Home
Janet was born to Garland and Belle Taggart February 5, 1928 in Blue Ridge, MO. Her family moved to Bethany, MO where she grew up and attended school. In 1945 she met John H. Gotschall who would become her loving husband. They moved to Cleveland, OH where they became the proud parents of two daughters, Mary Lucinda and Marcia Lynette. After returning to Missouri to work on the family farm they were blessed with the arrival of their third daughter Deborah Jon who was born in Bethany, MO. In 1954 they moved to Gallatin where Janet and John H ran a department store and later a popular drive-in restaurant. During the years in Gallatin Janet was very involved in her children’s lives and activities. She was a member of the First Christian church where she sang in the choir. In 1971 as empty nesters they moved to Richmond, MO where Janet worked as a Pharmacy Technician.
In 1981 she lost her husband, the love of her life. In 1992 she moved to Gladstone, Mo to be near her daughters. As her health began to decline she moved in with her daughter Marcia. She continued to enjoy her 3 daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family and friends.
Janet was a beautiful, fun loving and compassionate soul who devoted her life to her daughters and grandchildren. She was an avid reader, especially biographies, loved to dance and taught her girls to rock n roll. Although her loss is immense we are grateful for the love and joy she brought to our lives. Janet instilled the qualities of perseverance, loyalty, faithfulness and generosity in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John H. Gotschall, brothers, Gordon, Bud and Jack Taggart and sister Hildred Glaze.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Cindy (Reid) Spencer, Gladstone, MO, Marcia Gotschall, Gladstone, MO, and Debby (Johnnie) Johnston, St. Charles, IA, granddaughters, Tina (Jason) Hoffman, Urbandale, IA, Amy (John) Butler, Chicago, IL; Great Grandsons, Noah and Jonah Hoffman, Urbandale, IA, and one great Grandchild soon to be. Although removed by distance Janet remained close to her nephews, and nieces Jimmy Glaze, Chattanooga, TN, and Terry Glaze, Cummings, GA. Sandra McNiece, Las Cruses, NM, Sherry (Ed) Miller, MD, Connie (Joe) Taggart, Wickenberg, AZ, Gordon Taggart, Phoenix, AZ, Jackie Taggart, Petaluma, CA, Lynnie Taggart, Kansas City, MO, sister-in-law, Mary Taggart, Wickenberg, AZ.
A very special thank you to Pastor Russ Hamilton for his prayers, support and comfort, to Carla Haresnape who lovingly helped care for Janet the last seven years and to Northcare Hospice for their excellent care and support.

Lt. Col. John M. Mahoney
1933-2011
Lt. Col. John M. Mahoney, USMC (Ret.) 78 of Cameron, MO passed away Saturday May 28, 2011 at the Daviess County Nursing and Rehab in Gallatin. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 31 at Ashland cemetery in St. Joseph, MO. Friends may call after 11:00 am Monday at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
John M. Mahoney was born March 20, 1933 to John and Margaret (McDermott) Mahoney in Brooklyn, New York. In 1951 John graduated from the Carol Printing CO. trade school in Manhattan, N.Y. and would later graduate with a bachelor degree from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. At the age of 17 John enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, he entered the Marines as a Private and soon worked his way thru the ranks. While in the service John met and was united in marriage to Dorothy Wood January 14, 1956 in Beaufort, South Carolina.
John served as a Sergeant in the Korean conflict where he received the Korean Service Medal, UN Service Metal and the Good Conduct Medal. After returning back to the states John attended OCS School becoming a commissioned officer. John did a tour of duty in Vietnam where he received several medals including the Sliver Star, Navy Commendation Medal and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry to mention a few. He was a decorated solider who displayed courageous leadership during his time in the military. John retired as a Lt. Colonel from the military in 1978 after 27 years of dedicated service to a country he loved.
After leaving the military John was an independent insurance agent in St. Joseph, MO for a year before he took a position at the American Family Insurance Agency in Grand Junction CO as an agent. He devoted 13 years to his clients and retired in 1998, moving to Cameron, MO to be near his family.
After retirement John was able to devote his time and talents to his train collection. He spent hours constructing tracks, models, and scenery, and loved to share his collections with his family. He was an avid gun collector and loved to garden. John was committed to his family; his compassion and zest for life will live on through them. He will be sadly missed but not forgotten.
John was preceded in death by his parents and a son Michael Mahoney.
John is survived by his wife of 55 years Dorothy of the home, daughter, Debra Sweatman and husband Martin of Gallatin, son James Mahoney and wife Jay of Lathrop, siblings, Margaret Cortapasso and husband Joe, Dorothy Grogan, Patricia Mills, Catherine Besigano and husband Frank, Arthur Mahoney and wife Lucy. John has 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Clara Mae Yoder Kauffman 1970-2011
Clara Mae Yoder Kauffman 40 of McFall, MO passed away Monday April 11, 2011 at her home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday April 14, at the AV Spillman Event Center in Jamesport. Friends may call at the home of Mrs. Mattie Yoder southeast of Jamesport Tuesday and Wednesday 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Burial will be held at the Clear Creek cemetery near Jamesport. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Clear Creek cemetery in care of McWilliams Funeral Home in Jamesport.
Clara Mae Yoder Kauffman was born July 8, 1970 at Jamesport, MO to David A. and Mattie (Bontrager) Yoder and passed away April 11, 2011 at the age 40 years, 9 months and 3 days.
On April 7, 2011 she was united in marriage to Daniel Kauffman at McFall, MO.
She leaves behind her bereaved husband and her mother and 2 brothers and 1 sister, 9 nieces and 14 nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her Dad and sister Lydiann Kramer.

Marshall G. Jones
1939-2011
Marshall G. Jones 72 passed away Sunday July 17, 2011 at his home in Gallatin. Burial will be at Christian Union cemetery north of Gilman City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gallatin Bulldog Band or the Gallatin First Baptist Church.
Marshall G. Jones was born March 19, 1939 to Oren “Casey” and Ina (Roland) Jones in Gallatin. He graduated from Gallatin High School in 1957 and began working for Snyder Quarry. Marshall was united in marriage to Sharon K. Manville December 1, 1961 in Gallatin; where the couple lived all of their married lives and raised their 4 children. Marshall continued in the rock sales working for Martin Marietta Aggregates and Norris Aggregates retiring in 2008.
Marshall was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gallatin and was a long time member of the Gallatin Masonic Lodge.
Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters, Betty Page and Patsy Harris Wrex.
Marshall is survived by his wife of 50 years Sharon of the home, son, Michael Jones and wife Bonnie of Pearblossom, CA, daughters, DeAnna Fuller and husband Jim, Lana Corwin and husband Eric all of Gallatin and Brianna Couch and husband Tim of Greensburg, MO, brothers, Jimmie Jones and wife Alice of Savannah, MO and Jack Jones and wife Sharron of Gallatin. Marshall has 11 grandchildren, Kelli Griffin, Kendal, Kenton and Felicia Fuller, Kayce Terhune, Kyle Jones, Logan Corwin, Katrina Pilsecker, Bradley Jones, David and Justyne Couch, 3 great-grandchildren, Kyre and Anden Terhune and William M. Griffin. Marshall leaves behind a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Janis K. Dunnington
1942-2011
Janis Kay Dunnington, 68 of Gallatin, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Cameron Regional Medical Center. Burial will be at Hillcrest cemetery, near Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to Hillcrest cemetery, in care of the Funeral Home.
Janis K. Dunnington was born August 27, 1942, to Russell and Kathryn (Ramsbottom) Welker in Gallatin, MO, where she lived all her life. She graduated from Gallatin High School in 1960 and began working at Ray Richards Café as a waitress. She was united in marriage to Franklin Dunnington on January 14, 1961 in Gallatin. Janis worked as a secretary for Turpin Youtsey at the MFA Insurance Co. for several years. She later worked as secretary for the First Christian Church in Gallatin as well as filling in when needed at the Extension Office for Patty Heldenbrand. Janis enjoyed working with the public and delighted in conversations with customers.
Janis was a member of the First Christian Church of Gallatin, the Daviess County Extension Council, and a 4-H leader for several years. Janis was an avid quilter, from teaching classes to traveling with a “quilt” group. She was responsible for organizing the quilt shows during Chautauqua. In her earlier years, Janis enjoyed decorating cakes. She continued to bake cakes and share them with friends for their birthdays. Janis was a wonderful cook, everything she made was delicious. Her stick biscuits and monkey bread were family favorites. She also had a passion for flowers, lilies were among one of her favorites. Janis touched the lives of everyone she met; she was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Janis is preceded in death by her parents and infant sister.
Janis is survived by Husband of 50 years, Franklin of the home, Son, Russell Lynn Dunnington of Hamilton, Brother, Sam Walker of Lenexa, KS, and Grandchildren, Elizabeth and Leroy Dunnington.

Sonna Lee Walker
1954- 2011
Sonna Lee Walker 56, of Gallatin passed away Tuesday July 5, 2011 at the Daviess County Nursing & Rehab in Gallatin. Friends may call after 11:00am Thursday at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial will be held at Hillcrest cemetery near Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made the Children Mercy Hospital or Gallatin Theater League Seat Project in care of the funeral home.
Sonna was born November 12, 1954, to Delbert and Sonya (Landes) Wilson in Jamesport. She grew up in Breckenridge and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1973. Sonna was united in marriage to Jim Walker March 29, 1974, at the Breckenridge Methodist Church; Jim preceded her in death October 9, 1992, after 18 years of marriage. The couple moved to Gallatin where they lived all of their lives and became part of the community. To this union one child was born, Tonya. Sonna was a stay at home Mom, always taking care of her families needs. When Tonya was older, Sonna started to work as a cook at the Gallatin School and the nursing home for several years. She later took a part time job at Landmark Mfg. and soon became full time and was employed there for 17 years. At times, Sonna would work 3 jobs at a time, never shying away from hard work, and always willing to do whatever it took to get the job done.
Sonna was a member of the First Christian Church in Gallatin, where she enjoyed fellowship with her church family. She was an over 26 year active member of the Gallatin Theater League. She loved to participate and perform for the community. Sonna was a member of the Learn and Do Extension Club, Sweet Adeline’s and was well known around the area performing with the “Girl Friends”. At Christmas you could find Sonna dressed as Mrs. Claus at church and recitals. Her gentle spirit and her infectious smile was always a treat for the children who came to visit. Sonna spent her life serving, whether it was community, church or family and friends. She shared her God given talents in so many ways. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend who’s memory will live on forever in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her.
Sonna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim, sister Johna Wilson and brother Scott Wilson.
Survivors include her daughter, Tonya (Ira) Sloan, sister, Jackie (Doug) Nichols all of Gallatin, her 2 grandchildren Taylor Thomas, James Sloan, Nieces and Nephews and a host of friends.
