Barbara Kay Bethel, 68, of Moscow Mills, formerly of Montgomery City, passed away at home on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Dec. 13, 1941 in Buckhannon, W.V., the daughter of Clyde S. and Kathleen (Casto) Stewart Sr. Barbara grew up with her brother, Stan and attended the local schools together. She married the love of life, Kenneth Bethel, on May 8, 1970 in Fulton. Together they enjoyed traveling, and eating out.
Surviving are her loving husband, Kenneth Bethel of Moscow Mills; her children: Timothy Bethel and wife, Christina, of Troy, Sarah "Sally" and husband Verus Overkamp of Moscow Mills, Peggy and husband, Daniel Jaggie of New London, Marcia and husband Jim Dunlap of New Florence, Deborah and husband Robert Roseman of Montgomery City; one brother: Clyde S. (Stan) Stewart Jr. and wife, Sue, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law: Martha Rose Bethel of New Florence and special cousin Betty Ann Crummet and husband Warren of Midland, Mich., other relatives and friends.
Graveside service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. in the St. Marcus Cemetery, Rhineland. Rev. George Prior will officiate.

Leonard F. Staufer, 65, of Troy, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, Chesterfield.
He was born on Dec. 1, 1945, in Lexa, Ill., the son of William & Dessie Staufer.
He was employed at General Motors for over 32 years.
His family was his Number. 1 priority. Woodworking was a great hobby for him. He even built a 24' x 70' building to house his woodworking equipment. Being outdoors was what he enjoyed doing. Leonard was a high-energy person, always working on projects and helping others.
Surviving are: his beloved wife, Wilda Staufer of Troy; two sons: Michael Snyder, Nathaniel Staufer both of Troy; one daughter: Melissa Staufer of Indianapolis, Ind.; two grand- children: Samuel and Alexis Staufer; his father-in-law: Wilbur Godsey and mother-in-law: Annie Giesmann; many other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday. Dec. 8, 2010, at the First Christian Church, Troy. Officiating will be Rev. Steve Doan. Interment will follow in the Troy City Cemetery, Troy. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home, Troy. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, c/o McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home, 1304 Boone St, Troy, MO 63379.

Jewel Krumwiede, 95, of Troy, passed on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at the Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab Center in Troy.
The daughter of Talmedge and Gertrude (St. John) Lynn, she was born on Dec. 22, 1914 in Paducah, Ky.
On June 30, 1945, in Springfield, Ill., she married Arnold Krumwiede and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by: one son, Larry Krumwiede and wife, Lil, of Troy; numerous grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley Hoskins, of Springfield, Ill.
Mrs. Krumwiede was a receptionist for the Troy Veterinary Clinic for over 20 years with Drs. Johnson, Newberry and Rasmussen. She was a very active member of the American Cancer Society, serving as county secretary for many years and as a program director for many projects.
She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Troy, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at the Ingersoll Chapel for Funeral and Cremation Services, 211 Boone Street, Troy. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. Friday morning until the time of the service. Interment will be in the Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery, Troy. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life or the American Diabetes Association.

Funeral services for Edward Alfred Tayon, 93, of Winfield, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2010, at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Richard Turnbull, of Winfield, will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield.
Mr. Tayon passed away Tuesday evening, November 30, 2010, at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles.
Born April 22, 1917, in Winfield, he was the son of Joseph Paul and Nannie Elizabeth Kitson Tayon. He was a 1935 graduate of Winfield High School. He was united in marriage on June 18, 1938 in Bowling Green to Rose Marie LeMieux. This union was blessed with three children: Joyce, Mary and Ray.
He worked for many years as an ironworker in commercial construction. He was a civilian employee of the United States Navy, repairing ships from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of the Ironworkers Local #396 in St. Louis and the St. Charles Masonic Lodge #241 AF and AM.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 72 years, Rose Tayon of Winfield; one daughter, Joyce Tayon, of Winfield; one daughter-in-law, Mary Tayon, of Harvester; one son-in-law, Eddie Levernz, of Winfield; four grandchildren: Donald Leverenz, Meta Vollmer, Robert Tayon and his wife, Cynthia and Cathy Nicholson; six great-grandchildren: Ashley Tayon, Tiffany Tayon, Megan Tayon, Cierra Tayon, Jessica Vollmer and Deanna Vollmer; and one great, great-grandchild, Kaylee Tayon. He also leaves two sisters: Beatrice Wilson and Mabel Harding and her husband, Frank, all of Winfield; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m., Friday, December 3, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes, 3838 East Highway 47; P.O. Box 253; Winfield, MO 63389.

Charles Thomas "Bud" or "Red" Stroker, 92, of Olney, passed peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010.
Bud was born in Olney on June 6, 1918 to Clemons John and Myrtle Elizabeth (Riddle) Stroker. He was fortunate to live in the same home for his entire 92 years. While still young, Bud helped his family farm and worked at the Stroker's Store in Olney. This store was a mainstay for the community of Olney. Bud spent many, many hours of his life helping others with their needs. During his life, Bud had been a hard-working farmer while also running the Stroker's Store until his health began to decline and he was forced into retirement. Bud was a life-time member of the Olney Baptist Church where he had served as a Sunday School teacher, Superintendent and also a 4-H leader to Olney Blue Skies. He had been a member of Nineveh Masonic Lodge No. 473, a Shriner and member of the Silex Chapter No. 80 of the Order of Eastern Star.
As you can tell, Bud was very involved in the Olney community.
Surviving are his nieces: Janet Finnerty and husband, Richard, of New Melle, SuzAnne Paez and husband, Mark, and Beth McLean and husband Ron, all of Town and Country; three great nephews: Mark Paez and wife, Jennifer, Christoper McLean and wife Natalie, Sean McLean and great niece: Maria Brennan and husband Kevin; great-great-nephew: Ty McLean of St. Louis; sister-in-law: Irene Stroker Menos, of St.Louis. He is further survived by many cousins, wonderful friends and other relatives.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, from the Olney Baptist Church, 1969 Hwy O, in Olney. Officiating will be Rev. Kenneth Parker.
Interment will follow in the Olney Cemetery, Olney. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, from 3-7 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 6 p.m. at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St., Troy. Memorials may be made to the Olney Baptist Church, Shriners' Children's Hospital or to the Olney Masonic Lodge No. 473, c/o the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Troy, MO.

Melba Lee Martin was born Jan. 8, 1942, to James "Silvy" Martin and Lucille (Gerdeman) Martin, the third of seven children. She went to join her Lord on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.
Melba grew up on a farm in the Moscow Mills area. She attended church at the Highland Prairie Church and in a one-room school at Keelstone, taught by her Aunt Laura Gerdeman Helmich (who survives).
After graduating from Troy Buchanan High School in 1959, she began working for Social Services in Troy. Melba married Joseph "Joe" Paulsmeyer on June 16, 1963, at the Highland Prairie Church in Ethlyn. They are the parents of three children: Carman Gamm, who lives in Bowling Green with her husband Larry, Carol Bracht who with her husband Terry live in Warrenton and Glen Joseph Paulsmeyer and wife, Pam who live in the Olney area. Melba and Joe have seven grandchildren: Trevor and Katrina Ellis, Kayla and Kevin Paulsmeyer, Abby and Trent Bracht and John Gamm. Melba got her PHT (put hubby through) in 1965 when Joe completed college two years after their marriage. She and Joe lived in Shelbyville for two years while Joe taught agriculture; then they moved to the Olney area where they have lived and farmed ever since. Melba was a devoted farm wife who worked beside her husband running the family farm. She rode the motorcycle with husband Joe, taking trips as far away as Canada and Texas on the bike. Melba loved to watch her grandchildren participate in their activities. She watched their sporting events and school concerts and plays. She was active in the Olney Methodist Church where she became a member after marrying Joe. Melba was a secretary, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and organizer of various church activities. She was a 4-H member as a child and a leader when her children were in 4-H.
Melba is survived by her beloved husband, Joe; her three children and seven grandchildren and her siblings: Glenn Martin and wife, Barbara, of Memphis, Tenn., Gerald Martin, of Columbia, Lois Illig and husband, Walt, of Troy, Joyce Simmons and her husband, Joe, of Troy, and Ed Martin and his wife, Paula, of Fenton and her Aunt Laura Helmich of Moscow Mills. She is further survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, from the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St., Troy. Officiating was Rev. Mark Spence.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, from the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Troy.
Memorials may be made to the Olney Methodist Church or to the Heartland Hospice in Wentzville, c/o the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Troy.

Norman Anthony Moritz, 72, of Wentzville, passed away on Nov. 28, 2010 at 1:35 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Senior Living in St. Charles.
He was born on July 16, 1938 in St. Charles. He was the son of Melvin and Edna Moritz.
Norman owned National Petroleum. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a member of the Wentzville American Legion Post 323.
He is survived by wife, Barbara Moritz, of Wentzville; daughters: Anna Marie Doyel and husband, Mike, of Wentzville, Amy Cornett and husband, Chris, of St. Charles, and Dianne Merkel and husband, Kevin, of Colton, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wentzville. Visitation will be held at the Pitman Funeral Home, 1545 Wentzville Parkway, on Wednesday, Dec. 1, from 1-8 p.m. The interment will be held at Our Lady Cemetery in Lake St. Louis.
Memorials may be made to Odyssey Hospice of Maryland Heights in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Wentzville, MO 63385.

Janice C. Shipley, 70, of Troy, died on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Shipley; her children: Pamela C. Erker and husband, Buddy, Robin M. Brinkmann and husband, Dennis, and Brad Shipley and wife, Laura; her grandchildren: Matt, Emily, Daniel, Kristy, K.C., Adam, Ashley, Hannah, Heather, Grace, Mattie and the late Dustin and Jessica. She is furthered survived by her dear friend and caregiver, Bill Hess. She was a member of the GA Leaders at church and a nursery worker.
Services will be held at Baue Funeral and Memorial Center, 3950 West Clay Street in St. Charles. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
