Margariette Ellen Persfull

Margariette Ellen Persfull, the daughter of the late Joe A. and Johnnie A. Davidson Stewart, was born in Jonesboro, Ark., on Oct. 22, 1936, and died at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark., on Oct. 22, 2002, at the age of 66. Mrs. Persfull had lived in Dexter since 1962. She had been an elementary school teacher and retired from the Richland Public Schools after teaching for 32 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter and the Order of the Eastern Star in Bloomfield. On Nov. 24, 1956, she was married to J.D. Persfull in Jonesboro, Ark. Surviving are her husband J.D. Persfull of Dexter; one son, Justin Duane Persfull of Dexter; one daughter, Ramona Ellen Baker of Dexter; two grandsons; and one brother, John Stewart of Jonesboro, Ark. She was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Stewart. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Wayne Dismuke of Dexter officiating. Interment will follow in the Sadler's Chapel Cemetery near Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

David Neil Miller

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - David Neil Miller, 47, of Holden died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden. Burial will follow in the Dresden Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Chapel.

Harold Pullum

Herrell 'Harold' Pullum, son of the late John Benjamin Pullum and Phebia Herrell Pullum, was born on Feb. 10, 1924, at Dexter and died at the Veterans Medical Center in Poplar Bluff on Oct. 22, 2002, at the age of 78. Mr. Pullum was a veteran of the United States Navy and owner of Pullum Transfer and Moving Company for 34 years. He was united in marriage to Betty Snider Acord on Dec. 26, 2001, at Dexter. Mrs. Acord survives of the home in Dexter. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Harold Dean Pullum, David Pullum and Jerry Pullum, all from Dexter; three daughters, Joyce Dowdy and Alice Moore, both of Dexter, and Judy Stanfield of St. Louis; three step-sons, Jerry Acord of Hillsboro, Stanley Acord of Bloomfield, and Stephen Acord of Ft. Knox, Ky.; three step-daughters, Jeanette Layton, Irma Sanders and Laura Acord, all of Dexter; two brothers, William Pullum of Searcy, Ark., and Eugene Pullum of St. Charles; one sister, Sylvia Stickle of Dexter; ten grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and eight step great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jon Duane 'Wayne' Pullum; two grandchildren, Ronald Duane Pullum and Teresa Ann Pullum; one step granddaughter, Krystal Riddle; by two brothers, Junior Pullum and one in infancy; four sisters, Mae Masterson, Jessie Lewis, Ellen Burgess, and Julie Pullum. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Roger Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.

Kathy Holmes

Kathy M. Holmes, 41, of Advance, was born July 18, 1961, at Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Royal and Wilma Umfleet Bohnsack, and died Oct. 21, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Mrs. Holmes had been a remedial reading teacher at Zalma R-5 for 17 years. She was also the District PDC Representative. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Advance. She graduated from Advance High School in 1979 and in 1983 received a BA from Southeast Missouri State University. Mrs. Holmes later received a graduate degree from Southwest Baptist College. On Sept. 3, 1983, she and Donnie Holmes were united in marriage at Advance, and he survives of the home. Other survivors include her parents of Advance, mother and father-in-law, Don and Laverne Holmes of Zalma; a brother and sister-in-law, Ricky and Roberta Bohnsack of Essex; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Lisa Gowen of Marble Hill; two nieces; one nephew; one great-niece; and three great-nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance with Rev. Rudy Pittman officiating and Rev. Bill Sargent assisting. Interment will follow in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.

Marvin O. McClure

Marvin O. McClure, the son of the late Bryan O. and Dorothy Murdoch McClure, was born May 20, 1919, and died at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on Oct. 21, 2002, at the age of 83. Mr. McClure was a 1937 graduate of Puxico High School, had lived in California for fifty years and returned to Puxico in 1992. He was a retired real estate broker in Yucca Valley, Calif., where he owned and operated the McClure Loan and Investments Company. He was first married to Ada Beatrice Wallace, and she preceded him in death. On June 11, 1971, he was married to Lynetta Kitchen in Las Vegas, Nev. She preceded him in death on Nov. 15, 1993. On Jan. 3, 1995, he was married to Stella Peters in Upland, Calif. Surviving are his wife, Stella Peters McClure of Puxico; one son, Jackie Ray McClure of Upland, Calif.; one daughter, Dorothy Huegel of Van Buren, Ark.; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lotus Wilkison of Puxico. Visitation will be held at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico with the Rev. Wayne Burchett of Puxico officiating. Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.

Beulah E. Martin

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Beulah E. Martin, age 96, of Warrensburg, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 2, 2006, at the Western Missouri Medical Center.
She was born in Laurel Branch, West Virginia, on July 14, 1910, the daughter of Walter Watson and Cordie (Smith) Bell.
She married James Mark Martin and he preceded her in death on September 3, 1983.
Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and a member of the First Brethren Church of Covington, Virginia. She also attended the Memorial Baptist Church in Hardy, Virginia, and moved to Warrensburg in 2002 from Hardy.
She is survived by a daughter, Alphadine Martin of Warrensburg; two sons, Bobby Mark Martin of Henderson, Nevada, and James Dale Martin of Chester, Virginia; three brothers, Denny Bell of Clifton Ford, Virginia, Verlin Bell of Salem, Virginia and Roy Bell of Ronceverte, West Virginia; a half brother, Dalma Bailey of Covington, Virginia; a sister, Jean Miller of Covington, Georgia; five grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
Her parents; two sisters, Emma and Irma Broughman; and two brothers, Averill Bell and Alvie Bell preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2006, at the Oakey’s Vinton Chapel in Vinton, Virginia.
Pastor Jeffrey Richards will be officiating.
Burial will be in the Alleghany Memorial Park Cemetery in Covington, Virginia.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Franklin Memorial Baptist Church in Hardy, Virginia, or the American Heart Association. Local contributions may be left in care of the Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.

Alliene King

Alliene Hayes King died Aug. 6, 2002. She was born in Tuttle, Okla., on Jan. 7, 1943, and grew up in Bloomfield. She moved to the Antelope Valley in 1961 where she worked in the restaurant business for 40 years and was the owner of Karen's Kitchens #2, #3 and #4. She retired from the restaurants in 2000 and has spent the last couple of years traveling, golfing and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Dan; one son, Chris; one daughter, Danielle; her mother Ruby Hayes; six brothers, Robert, Lyres, Dean, Frank, Jimmy and Gary; two sisters, Betty and Mary; and three grandchildren. A memorial service was held Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at 12:00 p.m. at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall, Calif. Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.

Calvin Cullum

Calvin 'Cude' Cullum, son of the late Henry McKinley Cullum and Lucinda Jane Carmichael Cullum, was born on Dec. 1, 1924, at Greenway, Ark., and died in the John J. Pershing VA Hospital in Poplar Bluff on Oct. 17, 2002, at the age of 77. Mr. Cullum was a member of the Bernie General Baptist Church in Bernie, a veteran of World War II, a farmer and a resident of Bernie. He was united in marriage to Joyce Scott on Nov. 18, 1947, at Piggott, Ark. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Cullum of Bernie; one son, Charles H. Cullum of Fort Pierce, Fla.; one daughter, Connie Lynn Dotten of Key Largo, Fla.; four grandchildren; and three sisters, Ethel Johnson of Poplar Bluff, Edna Rausch of Chapman, Kan., and Rosalee Craig of Poplar Bluff. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, three brothers and one sister. Visitation was held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ricky Roberts officiating. Interment followed in the Kennett Memorial Park in Kennett.

John Gee

John Junior Gee, the son of the late Lum and Eva Jenkins Gee, was born in Parma on Oct. 7, 1923, and died at his home in Parma on Oct. 18, 2002, at the age of 79. Mr. Gee graduated from Parma High School and lived there till 1941 when he entered the navy and served during WW II. In 1946 he moved to Colorado where he served as a hearing commission judge. Mr. Gee returned to Parma in 1980 and served as alderman and city marshall. Mr. Gee also served as municipal judge for the cities of Parma, Risco, Gideon, Tallapoosa, and Matthews. Mr. Gee was of the Baptist faith. On April 12, 1947, he was married to M. Lorraine Miller in Denver, Colo. Surviving are his wife Lorraine Gee of Parma. He is preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Parma. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, in the Parma Cemetery in Parma with Rev. John Girdley of Parma officiating. Interment will follow in the Parma Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Parma in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Parma.
