Myron Eugene (Gene) Juergens

Myron Eugene (Gene) Juergens of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at the age of 79 years.

Gene, as his family and friends knew him, was born April 25, 1924 at Sullivan, Missouri to William S. and Edna (Tourville) Juergens. He was a life-long resident of Sullivan and on October 21, 1950 was married to Florence Huff at Harrison, Arkansas. Gene was an agent for the Standard Oil Company for several years and later a distributor for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He honorably served his country during WWII with the U.S. Navy and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Gene found pleasure in working with his hands, building birdhouses and bird watching but his greatest pastime was enjoying the company of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Florence Juergens of Sullivan, one son, Richard Juergens and wife, Elaine of Columbia, Missouri, one daughter, Nancy Weiskopf of Sullivan four grandchildren, Jason and Corey Weiskopf, Jessica and Victoria Juergens, two great-grandchildren, Lexie Brown and Veronica Weiskopf, other relatives and friends. Along with his parents, Gene was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine Bell and Mary Sue Shaffer.

Graveside funeral services were conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2003 in I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Robert J. Pilkenton

Robert J. Pilkenton of Sullivan passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at the age of 66 years.

Robert was born December 22, 1936 to the late Nathan O. and Ester E. (Ogel) Pilkenton at St. Clair, Missouri. He attended and graduated from Sullivan High School. He honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. On February 15, 1958 he was married to Joan Kramer in the state of Mississippi. Eight children were born to their marriage. Robert was employed by Jones Electric and later by Associated Crafts as an electrician until ill health forced his retirement. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and was an avid reader. After retirement Robert liked to quilt and made many beautiful quilts for his family.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Pilkenton of Sullivan, one son, Kenneth Pilkenton and wife, Barbara of Sullivan, six daughters, Joy Barker of Sullivan, Terry Pilkenton of Bourbon, Ellisa Webb and husband Rick, Robin Heslep, Victoria “Tory” Witt and husband, Ty, Brooke Pilkenton all of Sullivan, one sister, Peggy Englebrick of Vallejo, California, 23 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. Along with his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one son, Robert Nathan Pilkenton in 1999.

Funeral services were conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2003 from the chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Reverend Glenn Sparks, Jr. officiating. Interment was in Bourbon Cemetery. All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home.

Perry Alan Ray, Sr.

Perry Alan Ray, Sr. of Salem, Missouri passed away on Friday, May, 2, 2003 at the age of 41 years and 22 days.

Perry was born April 10, 1961 at St. Louis, Missouri to Lillie Daniel Ray and the late Charles Clifton Ray. He was raised for a time in the Cahokia, Illinois area but for the most part grew up in Licking, Missouri where he attended high school. He was self-employed as an electronics repairman and operated Ray’s Television and VCR Repair Shop in Salem, Missouri.

He is survived by a daughter, Melody Ray of St. Louis, two sons, Alan Ray of St. Louis and Justin Ray of Sullivan, his mother Lillie Ray of Leasburg, Missouri, two brothers, Richard Ray of Leasburg, Missouri and Carl Ray of South Carolina, two sisters, Barbara Allen of Cuba, Missouri and Linda Bucher of St. Louis, a grandson, Dylan Dantone, a special “grandson”, “little Eddie” whom he loved as his own, other relatives and many friends. Along with his father, Perry was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Kenny Ray.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2003 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with the Rev. Theodore Brunnert officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery. Sullivan, Missouri.

Jimmie Lee Stroup

Jimmie Lee Stroup of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at the age of 59 years.

Jimmie was born on July 23, 1943 near Sullivan at what was known as the Baker Community. He was a life-long resident of the Sullivan area except for his service in the U.S. Navy. Jimmie was a veteran of the Vietman War and served from December of 1961 to December of 1983. On February 19, 1977 he was married to Peggy Weintz at Great Lakes, Illinois and to this union two children were born. Jimmie was employed as a Stationary Engineer at South Central Correctional Center at Licking, Missouri. He was known as a hard worker who loved to farm and touched many lives.

He is survived by his wife Peggy of the family home, one son, John Stroup of St. Louis, Missouri, one daughter, Liz Stroup of Sullivan, his mother Grace Stroup of Sullivan, his father Woodrow Stroup of Bourbon, six brothers, Willard Stroup of Bourbon, John and Woodrow Stroup of Sullivan, Kenneth Stroup of Clinton, North Carolina, and Mitchell Stroup of Sullivan, Gene Stroup of St. James, two sisters, Betty Harmon of Sullivan and Charlotte Sherrell of Sullivan, his parents-in-law Veda and Amos Joiner of Sullivan, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. Jimmie was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Stroup.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2,2003 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Donald Helton officiating. Interment was in Scott Cemetery, Anthony’s Mill, Missouri.

Francena B. Turilli

Francena B. Turilli of Sullivan, Missouri passed away at the Life Care Center of Sullivan on Monday, April 28, 2003 at the age of 80 years.

Mrs. Turilli was born at Hominy, Oklahoma on June 12, 1922 to Lester and Mary (Hamby) Dill. She was a life long resident of the Sullivan area except for a short time spent in Florida. In October of 1944, she was married to Rudolph O. Turilli in Arkansas and to this union two children where born. She and her husband worked at Meramec Caverns, where Francena started as a cook and later managed the gift shop and restaurant. Francena and Rudy later operated the former Snell’s Restaurant in Sullivan and later operated the Jesse James Wax Museum where she worked until her retirement. Francena enjoyed playing the piano and square dancing. She also found pleasure in quilting and embroidery. She was a member of the Christian Science Church of Sullivan, the Sullivan Business and Professional Women and the Sullivan Rebekah Lodge No. 319.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, L.B. and Judy Turilli of Wildwood, Missouri, one daughter, Rudina Turilli of Ballwin, Missouri, two sisters, Elaine Davis of Union, Missouri and Betty Pruitt of Bourbon, Missouri, two grandchildren, Lester Turilli, Jr. and Julie Lairsey, three great-grandchildren, Hope Lairsey, Lester and Grace Turilli, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 1, 2003 from the Hassebroek Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Kenneth Dill officiating. Interment was in Stanton Cemetery, Stanton, Missouri.

Charles Royse Immekus Sr.

Charles Royse Immekus Sr., of Sullivan passed away Friday, April 18, 2003 at the age of 74 years.

He was born January 5, 1929 to the late Walter and Ruth (Stroup) Immekus at Sullivan, Missouri and lived his entire life in this area. Charles honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II. On December 6, 1958 he was married to Bonnie Jost at St. James, Missouri.

Mr. Immekus was employed for many years by the former Ramsey Corporation. He loved to hunt and fish and was known as a “Trader” who would swap anything with anyone especially cars. He was described by his family as a good man who would help anyone in need. Mr. Immekus was of the Baptist faith and was saved as a young man.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Immekus of Sullivan, two sons, Charles D. Immekus and wife, Debra of Salem, Charles R. Immekus, Jr. and wife, Michelle of Sullivan, four daughters, Joyce Hoke and husband, Kenny, Connie Hoke and husband, Gene, Janet Zoigan all of Sullivan, Margaret Burch and husband, John of St. Charles, one sister, Pauline Wiles of Cuba, Missouri, thirteen grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. Along with his parents Charles was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Kenny Immekus, three brothers, David, Billy Joe and Donald Immekus, and one sister, Gladys Aden.

Funeral services were conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2003 from the chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home.

Mary Adele Gallinger

Mary Adele Gallinger of Sullivan, Missouri passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 6, 2003 at the age of 95 years.

Mrs. Gallinger was born on July 17, 1907 near Bourbon, Missouri to Martin and Mary (Eoff) Crimmons. She was later married to Percy John Gallinger and to this marriage three sons where born. Percy preceded her in death in February of 1978. Mrs. Gallinger was a long-time employee of the former International Shoe Company in Sullivan and worked there until its closing. As a young girl she was confirmed at Saint Francis Catholic Church in Bourbon.

She is survived by a son, Ray Gallinger of Bourbon, a daughter-in-law, Norma Evers of St. Louis, a sister-in-law, Norene Marks of Sullivan, 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Along with her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by two sons, Monte and Leo Gallinger, and five brothers, Harry, John, Jim, Carl and Martin Crimmons.

Graveside funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2003 in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Sullivan. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Marilyn Sue Williams

Marilyn Sue Williams of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at the age of 65 years.

Marilyn was born on October 24, 1937 in Danville, Illinois to the late Donald R. and Ruth M. (Gaines) Williams. She was raised in Bellflower, California where she was employed as an Emergency Room Administrator. She later moved to Sullivan where she worked as an Admitting Clerk at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan. She retired from there nine years ago due to ill health. Marilyn loved animals and would take in strays and raise them. She also found pleasure in providing for her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She was actively involved with her internet friends and researching her family tree on-line. As a youth, Marilyn was saved and baptized at the First Baptist church in Bellflower, California.

She is survived by her sister, Donna Isgriggs of Sullivan, 2 nieces, Cindy Garner and husband Carl of Sullivan and Debby Mercer and husband Bobby, Jr. of Sullivan, 6 great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Miss Marilyn Williams was held from 4 –8 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2003 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial was private.

Lillie Ruth Fulks

Lillie Ruth Fulks of Sullivan passed away Friday, July 4, 2003 at the age of 81 years.

Lillie was born February 11, 1922 to the late Carl and Mabel (Carter) Ormsbee at Plato, Missouri. On March 15, 1942 she was married to Cecil Fulks at Plato and three children were born to their union. For several years the family lived in Plato, later relocating to Yakima, Washington for a time. The family moved to Houston, Missouri, where they remained for several years. For the past several years Lillie had made her home in the Sullivan area where she enjoyed doing cross stitch and spending time with her family. Lillie was a long time member of Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan. She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends.

She is survived by one son, Jimmie Fulks of St. Louis, Missouri two daughters, Beverly Bach and husband, James of Bourbon, Donna Robertson and husband, Rupert of St. Charles, Missouri, two sisters, Ruby Leach and Jeretta Grant both of Yakima, Washington, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Along with her parents, Lillie was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Fulks, two brothers, Earnest and Leroy Ormsbee, two sisters, Florene Washborne and Ethel Ormsbee, one grandson, Randy Bach,

Funeral services were conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2003 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Interment was in Stark Cemetery, Plato, Missouri. All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
