Michael C. Davis II

Michael C. Davis II, of Bourbon, Missouri passed away on Monday, March 25, 2003 at the age of 7 years, 6 months and 7 days.

Michael was born on September 18, 1995 in St. Peters, Missouri to Michael and Jacklynn (Phinney) Davis. At the age of four, he moved with his family to the Bourbon area. Michael was a member of the first grade at Bourbon Elementary School and was a friend to many classmates and teachers. He was known as a sweet boy who had a big heart and was a mentor to all his little cousins.

He is survived by his parents, Michael and Jacklynn Davis of Bourbon, one brother, Joseph Hoffmann of St. Peters, Missouri, one sister, Catherine Ingracia of Bourbon, maternal grandmother, Delores Phinney of Bourbon, paternal grandparents, Hope and Jay Chezem of St. Charles, Missouri, a nephew, Drake Hoffman, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2003 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Alfred Morgan officiating. Interment was in Bourbon Cemetery.

Helen A. Sherman

Helen A. Sherman of Sullivan, Missouri passed away at Meramec Nursing Center on Sunday, March 23, 2003 at the age of 94 years.

Mrs. Sherman was born in Sullivan, Missouri on May 4, 1908 to Henry J. and Lydia Mary (Spindler) Hammer. On December 22, 1928 she was united in marriage to Andy Sherman and to this union two daughters were born. Mrs. Sherman was a 17 year employee of the former Midwest Shoe Company. She worked as a stitcher and later retired from there. Mrs. Sherman found pleasure in quilting and would and sew with the ladies of her church on a regular basis. She also enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sherman was a charter member of Faith Assembly of God.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Dazey and husband Ernie and Mary Tyree and husband Bill all of Sullivan, Missouri, two grandchildren, Andrea Holland and Andy Dazey both of Sullivan, 7 great-grandchildren other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2003 from Faith Assembly of God in Sullivan with Pastor David Earls officiating. Interment in Warren Cemetery, Tea, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Assembly of God BGMC. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Daniel M. Tiefenbrunn

Daniel M. Tiefenbrunn, Sr. of Sullivan, Missouri, a retired journeyman electrician, passed away at his home on Friday, March 21, 2003 at the age of 66 years.

Dan, as his family and friends knew him, was born November 16, 1936 at Bourbon, Missouri to Roy Edward and Marie (Bacon) Tiefenbrunn. He was a life-long resident of the Sullivan area and on May 11, 1956 was married to Shirley Koonce at Sullivan and to this marriage four children were born. Early in his working years, Dan was employed at the former Kroger Store in Sullivan as Assistant Manager. He later became employed as a Mill Operator at the former Meramec Mining Company. When the mine ceased its operation, Dan went to work at Jones Electric Company and became a journeyman electrician. He later worked for Marlo Coil in the electrical maintenance department and retired from there in 1995. Dan enjoyed being with people, his friends and family. He was an avid sports fan and supported and listened to every game of the Sullivan Eagles Basketball team. He was also fond of the outdoors and found pleasure in hunting and fishing. Dan always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of the family home, one son, Dan Tiefenbrunn and wife Ruth of Lake Ozark, Missouri, three daughters, Mary Kempke and fiancé Doug Hendry of St. Charles, Missouri, Susan Juergens and husband Jeff of Sullivan and Janet Tiefenbrunn and fiancé John Ehrhardt of Houston, Texas, two brothers, Roy Tiefenbrunn and wife Judy and Larry Tiefenbrunn all of Sullivan, 6 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Along with his parents, Dan was preceded in death by two brothers Glen and David Tiefenbrunn, a granddaughter, Melissa Tiefenbrunn, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Tiefenbrunn, a nephew, Scott Logan Tiefenbrunn and his parents-in-law, Ben and Trica Koonce.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2003 from the Sullivan Christian Church with Pastor Jeff Bent officiating. Cremation followed the services with inurnment at a later date in Crow Cemetery. Memorials are desired to BJC Hospice or the Sullivan Christian Church. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

William J. "Bill" Timlin

William J. (Bill) Timlin of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2003 at the age of 39 years.

Bill was born August 7, 1963 in St. Louis, Missouri to Patrick and Wanda (Smith) Timlin. He had lived the majority of his life in the Sullivan area and was employed in the maintenance department of Integram/St. Louis Seating Company. Bill was a 1981 graduate of Sullivan High School and on May 16, 1987 was married to Diane Rapp. He was known as a person who would do anything for anybody and was loved by his friends and co-workers. Bill was a handyman and enjoyed repairing things around the house. He was found of hunting and fishing and the outdoors. Bill was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Sullivan.

He is survived by his wife Diane, two sons, Joseph and Jacob Timlin all of the family home, his parents, Wanda and Patrick Timlin of Sullivan, one brother, Tony Timlin and wife Susan of Sullivan, three sisters, Patricia Pounds and husband Robbie, Tina Sohn and husband Jack, Samantha Conrad and husband Chris all of Sullivan, his mother-in-law, Betty Rapp of Sullivan, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 from St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Sullivan with Pastor Jeffrey Duncan officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Jean Martin

Jean L. Martin of Sullivan passed away Saturday, March 15, 2003 at the age of 83 years.

Jean was born October 6, 1919 to the late Charles and Julia (Stiff) Pfieffer at St. Louis, Missouri. She grew up and attended school in Union, Missouri and in April of 1941 was married to Allen B. Martin at Morris Mill, Missouri. Two children were born to their marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Martin lived in the Hermann area for several years where Jean attended cosmetology school. She worked in that field for several years and later was employed as a telephone operator, first by Southwestern Bell and later by Fidelity Telephone in Sullivan. In later life she worked as a cook for Missouri Baptist Hospital. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, crafting, and reading. Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sullivan.

She is survived by her husband, Allen Martin of Sullivan, one son, Gary Martin and wife, Carolyn of Ferndale, Washington, one daughter, Gayle Roe of Spokane, Washington, four grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2003 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Ann Pitman officiating. Interment was in Zion Cemetery, Union, Missouri. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Mrs. Jean L. Martin. Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home.

William J. "Bill" Weiskopf

William J. “Bill” Weiskopf of Sullivan passed away Saturday, March 15, 2003 at the age of 76 years.

Bill as he was known by family and friends was born April 1, 1926 to the late William and Mary Ellen (Waltz) Weiskopf at Sullivan, Missouri. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Bill was employed in the shoe industry for many years in the shipping department. On November 6, 1948 he was married to Rosemary Coffman and two children were born to their marriage. Bill was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Saint Anthony Catholic Church of Sullivan. He was a loving and wonderful father to his son and daughter. The gift of grandchildren he cherished. He adored his grandchildren as they do him. His value of family was reflected throughout his life as he maintained close contact with his siblings.

Daily trips to Spring Bluff , one could find him on Little Spring Creek, his childhood home. He made visits to family and friends and loved to share recollections of his childhood spent on Spring Creek. Whether life brought good times or bad in the family he was a constant, one could always depend on. He enjoyed the companionship of his friends and made time to spend with them. His concerns for his friends were the same as for family and he valued their friendship. He was dedicated to his faith in God and before his journey to be with his Heavenly Father, God blessed him with a miracle in his own life. We were so blessed to have him in our lives and we will always remember and cherish the time God allowed us to be with him. His presence will be missed sadly, but his spirit will always be with us.

He is survived by one son, Rodney Weiskopf and wife, Linda of Sullivan, one daughter, Vicki McMahan and husband, Gary of Sullivan, two brothers, Leo Weiskopf and wife, Joann of Sullivan and Harold Weiskopf and wife, Dorothy of Sullivan, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters in law, Freida Bacon and Freida Weiskopf, two brothers in law, Ernie Coffman and Junior Bobbit, a special friend, Lois Copeland of Sullivan, nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. Along with his parents, Mr. Weiskopf was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary, one grandson, Brandon Weiskopf, one brother, Raymond Weiskopt, four sisters, Irene Schmucke, Lorene Helton, Bernice Thomeczek and Marguerite Thomeczek.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2003 from Saint Anthony Catholic Church with Father Ted Brunnert and Father James Finder officiating. Interment was in Laubinger Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Laubinger Cemetery Fund or Masses to St. Anthony Catholic Church. Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home.

Frank Keogh

Frank Keogh of Bourbon passed away Friday, March 14, 2003 at the age of 73 years.

Frank was born April 5, 1929 to the late Harold L. Keogh and Jeanette (Overy) Keogh at St. Louis, Missouri. He honorably served his country in the United States Army serving two terms in Korea. Frank was currently employed by Dillon Auto Repair in Bourbon. He had been a mechanic there for almost 40 years. Frank was described as a people person, who loved unconditionally and forgave freely. He had the ability to make everyone he came in contact with feel that they were special. His door was always open to all. He loved his mother, children, and grandchildren most of all. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, fooling with tractors and being on the farm. He was of the Catholic faith but excepted the beliefs of others and enjoyed debating with them. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Jeanette Keogh of Cuba, four sons, Richard Keogh of Bourbon, Terry Parnell and wife, Kathleen, of Bourbon, David Keogh of Cuba, Mike Parnell and wife, Diana of Bourbon, nine daughters, Lisa Gumpenberger and husband, Gregg of Bourbon, Brenda Brendel of Cuba, Sandra Buckner and husband, Dan of Cuba, Debra Isgrig and husband, Stanley of Bourbon, Cheryl Bach and husband, Tom of Cuba, Linda Stewart and husband, Kevin of Phoenix, Arizona, Janice Adams and husband, Bill of Bourbon, Susan Marz and husband, Dan of Rolla, and Laura Williams of Cuba, three brothers, Lee Keogh and wife, Shirley of Sullivan, Mike Keogh and wife, Geneva of Leasburg, Sonny Keogh and wife, Debbie of Cuba, two sisters, Colleen Ray of Leasburg and Martha Hardecke of Sullivan, 31 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Along with his father, Frank was preceded in death by one son, Frank W. “Billy” Keogh, Jr., one daughter in infancy, Yvonne Keogh, one grandson, Cody Edwards, and one brother, Richard Keogh.

Funeral services were conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2003 from the chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Jeffrey Duncan officiating. Interment was in Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri. Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Janet Peebles

Janet M. Peebles of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at the age of 56 years.

Janet was born on July 23, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri to Stanford (Shorty) and Mary (Broaddus) Blanton. She was a life-long resident of the Sullivan area and on January 8, 1965 was married to Lawrence Peebles. Janet was known as a “perfect” mother whose family meant the world to her. She was a second mother to many of her daughters’ friends and was very giving and loving to those around her. Janet was employed at the Super 8 Motel in Sullivan and for the past several years was manager there. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sullivan and also found pleasure in bowling.

She is survived by her husband Lawrence of the family home, four daughters, Susan Blakeburn and husband Clyde of St. Clair, Missouri, Laura Weirich and husband Michael of Sullivan, Sandra Landen and husband Ron of Union, Missouri and Karen Peebles of Potosi, Missouri, one brother, Jack Blanton and wife Sharon of Sullivan, 6 grandchildren, Chad and Eric Blakeburn, Micah and Emma Weirich, Amber and James Maune, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2003 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Paster Harry Pryor officiating. Interment was in Stanton Cemetery, Stanton, Missouri.

Wilbert F. "Bill" Meyer, Sr.

Wilbert F. “Bill” Meyer, Sr., of Fairview Heights, Illinois, passed away at Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at the age of 96 years.

Mr. Meyer was born on July 27, 1906 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Johann F. and Wilhemina (Niebruegge) Meyer. He was a member of Troy Assembly of God in Troy, Illinois and was a retired Lab Analyst for Alcoa Aluminum Company. On September 16, 1931 he was united in marriage to Beulah Wyant and to this marriage two children were born. Beulah preceded Wilbert in death on April 17, 1989.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wilbert “Bill” and Elaine Meyer, Jr. of Sullivan, Missouri, a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Dale Dungan of Cary, Illinois, seven grandchildren, Daniel and Patricia Meyer, Michael Prager, Douglas and Patricia Rae Meyer, Dr. David and Mary K. Dungan, Michael and Lynn Meyer, Mark and Cathy Meyer and Jennifer and James Sudenga, 14 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Along with his parents and wife, Mr. Meyer was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin and Raymond Meyer and a sister, Lauretta Blanquart.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 from Lake View Memorial Garden Chapel, 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois with Pastor Gary Thomas officiating. Interment was in Lake View Memorial Garden. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to the Gideon Bible Society. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan Missouri.
